I have htc evo 3d gsm s-off juopunut bear and my hboot is 1.53.777. I want downgrade my hboot to 1.49.007 because i want jelly bean rom. I haven't found good guide for downgrading so i did new thread. I have hboot 1.49.007 in my sd card renamed pg86img.zip and put it in root folder and boot it in recovery but nothing happened. So anyone have good and easy guide because I think that I am little bit a n00b in this case.
Sorry for my bad english.

you must go to the bootloader, not recovery, and it will automatically find the .zip

it doesn't find it in bootloader. File name is pg86img.zip and it is in .root in sd card but it doesn't find it.
if by .root you mean a folder named root, then it wont be recognized. It needs to NOT be in any folder. just place it outside and try. And try to keep the name exactly this: PG86IMG.zip capitalization is important sometimes
doesn't work

I did that what you say and it doesn't find it.
Maybe it's a corrupted download. Try downloading it again. Also make sure the problem isnt your sdcard. Try using another sdcard if possible

I have Looked around, and i tried to follow n-God i think it was and it didnt work, i have searched and tried different tutorials or techniques, my problem is that i have to unlock my HTC EVO 3D which i have done using the official HTC unlock website, and now i have to downgrade, to hboot 1.49.0007/8 because i am on 1.49.0018, i know what to do after i downgrade ( use revolution ) but i just cant get it to downgrade, it is a uk phone so its GSM and EMEA i think, so can someone post a step by step with links or a video thanks
I don't have an idea but take a look at the stickies in the gsm section of the EVO 3D and then if nothing look in general. And most of all read everything.

Hi firstly I'm a complete noob too. I'm in exactly the same situation as you. A UK gsm with .018 hboot only reason I have not tried the downgrade yet is my phone is still away for repair. Anyway from what I understand from that guide is you bypass the first 3 steps as you and I don't need to change cid as we got European phones hence the correct cid. And it does day make sure you relock your bootloader if its unlocked. (step 3) and I think it has to say locked and not relocked. I hope this is of some help as I said I'm a complete novice and will be following the guide when my phone returns so let me know if it works and if someone points out anything I've said is wrong I apologise I'm just trying to help

This is how i s-offed mine, i put together a quick guide for a different forum:
- it is for GSM european phones with the required CID already.
You can check your cid with : fastboot getvar cid
1. Follow this guide from point 4 as our CID is already as required. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316578
2. Use this tool to s-off and install clockwork mod. http://revolutionary.io/
3. Then roms can be installed via clockwork mod and/or the stock rom can be rooted. see this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14693680

Hello well lets see ok good you have completed step one now step two you need to install a custom recovery i like cwmr_Revolutionary_4.0.1.4.img custom recovery is a good one and it has the least problem's and step three you will need to flash the su -2.3.6.3-efgh-signed this is what give's you root access you will have to flash this using you pc via comand promts and after this you now have a rooted devise i would sugest flashing lee droid rom for starter's and next when your ready to down grade the Hboot you will have go to the threads and you will see file's that say ruu this is what you need to down grade and you will also want the one that say's Hboot 1.49.007 or 1.49.008 download any of the two and after you have downloaded copy and past it in root folder of sd card and may have to rename it you can do this part on the evo using es file explore make sure it says PG86IMG.zip even if says PG86IMG.zip i want you to rename it anyway why because windows hide's the file ext so it will read like this PG86IMG.zip.zip if you see this all you have do is delete that second .zip at the end now thats done your ready for the down grade copy and past the PG86IMG.zip file in the root folder of your sd card ok now battery pull now put battery back in press volume down power and dont let go until it boot's in to bootloader now let find the zip then it will say start update you press volume up for yes now sit back and let it do the update and when its done it will reboot and now you have Hboot 1.49.007 now your ready to s off head on over to alpharevolutionary.io

was super difficult to read, and you probably need to add punctuations
EDIT : Reason : Punctuations ?
You need to flash older Stock ROM in signed PG86IMG.zip, which includes HBOOT 1.49.0007. Then you are able to root your phone using revolutionary. But i recommend you to get either CWM4 or 4EXT recovery, which don't have charge bugs.
You dont need to use HTC's method since you are on .018
Get a PG86IMG.zip and use that to downgrade Hboot to .07/.08
After which use revolutionary to s-off and flash a recovery.
Make a nand backup
and get flashing
Im trying to look for the tutorial i used where all the links are, ill edit once i find it sorry
Here it is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316578 ; use this to downgrade Hboot, and because its a European phone, you dont need to change CID so basically start from step 4
Ok so I have been following unknownforces downgrade thread for a while already but ran into a problem. My EVO is brand new never been unlocked (atleast as far as I know) it says locked on the bootloader and s-on. When I took the 2.17 zip and put it on my SD card and rebooted to bootloader nothing happened I mean it did read it and check it but it did not ask me to upgrade. So my question is why didn't it ask me to upgrade and should I try and flash the 2.08 ruu EXE and start from scratch then see if it will ask to upgrade the pg86img

Did you rename the whole zip to PG86IMG.zip or did you take out the system image and rename that?
And if your on 2.17 base, you can't take a 2.08 ruu without changing your main version.

I had the same problem..it would not detect the PG86IMG.zip for nothing.. i tried like 20 something times..renamed with Pc/Astro file explorer/Root Explorer nothing would give. I even redownloaded it with Pc and my E3D and still a no go..BUT.... I finally got it to detect it. Cant remember what i did but the last thing i remember doing was a battery pull and did the Power/+ Volume to boot Into Bootloader and it worked..but still not sure if that solved it or not..
Evo 3D ViperROM v.2.5 downgraded HBoot 1.5 to 1.4
solution?
Hey guys,
i'm having the same problem.
I'm on hboot 1.53.0007 unlocked with htcdev and S-Off.
With hboot unlocked and also with re-locked the phone doesn't install the PG86IMG.zip file.
I saved the file definitively on the root of the sd-card and also it's name is correct.
I'd appreciate any kind of help.
Thanks for reading and replying.

The only suggestion that I thought of is to make sure the file doesn't have a double extension like PG86IMG.zip.zip. If file extensions are hidden in Windows, it will look correct but not be.

This. If it doesnt work, try toggling Bootloader and Hboot
so i found this guide about getting a custom recovery and S-OFF which looks safe to me
xttp://appcounter.blogspot.co.uk/2012/02/installing-custom-rom-for-htc-evo-3d.html
All i want now is simply how to install an ICS leak ROM.
from what i understand, when you are hboot 149007 and s-off you can flash everything
Also, how easy is it to return to a stock GSM EVO 3d after being rooted custom ROMed etc?
up for assistance
my phone cant recognize the P86IMG.zip
As i know you don't need s-off to install ics leaked roms cause the kernel is stock.
If i may give you a suggestion ... WAIT, at moment it seems that there is not a sure way to remove firmware upgrade. On my phone thare are now random issues.
Trust me, the ics experience is something less than you may expect... sense 3.6 kill s it

but my file is 373MB!!!

The P86IMG.zip will downgrade your HBOOT to 1.49.0007. After that you can use the Revolutionary method ( revolutionary.io ) to get S-off; Revolutionary only works with HBOOT 1.49.0007 or 1.49.0008, that's why you're downgrading the HBOOT.

exactly as above....use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316578 to downgrade to hboot 1.49.0007 (check for the steps...might need to skip some) then after that go here http://revolutionary.io/ and follow the instructions as mentioned below :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sw_mgVHWYo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlO8QtMVq6g&feature=related
and now you are s-off....then through recovery you can flash any rom you like....and yes this method is fully reversible as mentioned here http://www.goodandevo.net/2011/07/h...-evo-3d-back-to-an-unrooted-s-on-state-1.html
you just flash the official ruu and all goes back to normal including hboot
Also to answer your second question, Run a correct stock RUU file and it should restore everything. To make it s-on again you need to run some commands through fastboot, which i cant remember.
i want to install Stock RUU for my evo 3D to do wire trick...
i usually install new ROM (.zip) with 4ext, now....how about to install Stock RUU .exe on windows ?
just run the .exe with connected evo 3D to computer ?
is the evo 3D on bootloarder state with "fastboot usb" appear ? or just on desktop state ?
i found this tutorial, but its on HTC Desire, can it works on Evo 3D ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16124981&postcount=2
ok... i did it. this guide:
Flashing Android RUU Update Using HBoot
- First you need the RUU.exe that you intend to install.
- Run the RUU as administrator.
- Tick the 'I understand the caution indicated above...' box, and click next.
At this point do not go any further!
- Navigate to C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Temp (Replace xxxxx with yours - AppData is a hidden folder)
You should see one or two folders like this: {E328FA5C-81C2-4B70-96AE-D5418A9A5B75}
- Go into the one with "dotnetinstaller.exe" in it.
- Open up the next folder. (like this : {50F2F878-636A-496F-A7CB-544C067E0C4B}
- Copy "rom.zip" into another folder (outside of temp).
- At this point just Cancel and quit the ROM Update Utility.
- Rename the "rom.zip" to "PD98IMG.zip" and put it on to the root directory of your MicroSD card in your phone.
- Shut down the phone.
- Press the Power button + Volume down button at the same time and hold them untill you get to HBOOT (white screen with skateboarding android).
- Wait for the HBOOT to parse the zip file.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and boot into newly flashed device.
Thanx everyone on this forum!

What hboot are you now? If you have 1.58, you will not be able to ruu, until you're s off
Generally speaking a stock Rom such as butterz sense will work for the wire trick, I personally used harmonia, but I'm also on vm
The PG86IMG.zip method requires s off I believe, so that wont help you...I could be wrong though

my hboot ver 1.53.0007
and now i use Yoda's ICS....
my plan is use this PG86IMG.zip to get RUU first and then i will unlock it, and run juopunutbear to get S-OFF
but, you said that for use PG86IMG.zip (renamed from ROM.ZIP from RUU) is only can when i have S-OFF (1.58), is this the same case with my hboot ver ?
so what must i do then ?
I'm honestly not sure, it sounds like you have gsm, I can only speak for my CDMA.
I could be wrong, but I needed s off to change my hboot ( by flashing pg86img), so I assume phone needs soff to flash any pg86img.zip...but I don't have an son phone to try.
And I just knew there is no ruu for the latest CDMA hboot, which is 1.58
I would say if you're going to try ruu through the pg86img, just be 100% sure it's for gsm..

Hi Guys.
I have a S-ON Amaze 4G. Recently I tried installing another rom using 4EXT and messed something up. I think my partition tables are all messed up because the internal sdcard isn't being recognized. To make things worse I relocked my bootloader hoping to flash an RUU. Turns out my hboot is 1.93.002 and I can't flash Telus' stock RUU which is GB, it just doesn't work everytime I try it.
I can't S-OFF because i need the stock RUU as I understand. I also cannot unlock the bootloader as I tried on HTCDEVs site and it kept saying my identifier code was incorrect, so I am really confused now.
I basically have an S-ON, relocked HTC amaze with 4ext recovery, possibly corrupted partition tables, and no kernel/ROM properly loaded.
Any help?
Thanks!

Launch the fastboot to learn which img file it searches for, you know, ph85img.zip, or ph85001.zip, or what-have-you.
Get your proper RUU--it's gonna be GB or ICS, I think--you can look in the RUU section of "They're all here now" of the General forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1545464
Then rename your RUU to the appropriate "whicheverph8t.zip" is required and put it on your external SD card and reboot, something like here (and other places):
