Incoming calls have +1 on numbers? Acts as intentional number? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Running beans rom and when I get a call it always shows a+1 then the number and the phone thinks it ab international number so I have to remove it to make the call. Any way around this? I'm willing to change roms if someone can confirm a different rom doesn't do this.
Thanks a bunch

I'm on Beans as well. I never noticed it, but it looks like mine is the same way, it has appended a "1" to all my contacts. I rarely make calls, and when I do I almost never use contacts db, but I can see how this would be annoying. My incomming call log does however show the numbers correctly. Honestly I would not even be willing to say it's Beans that has done this. It has been so long since I used the contacts dialer, that my contacts could have been appended and backed up and restored by google who knows when.
Later,
Jason
**Edit** I take it back, I looked through more of them, and it seems random as to whether they have the 1, and if you truly mean +1 as you said in the original post, I dont see that showing up anywhere, in my contacts or call log. GL

I know what you mean mine has done that I just edit and delete the one then save so it annoying but deal -able ya know

How Much Spam do You Guys Get and What are You Doing About it?

Recently I've been getting tons of phone call spam, and it's getting outta control.
Basically I'm seeing numbers like:
7829105866
7436694122
ETC...
No messages left, and when you pickup the phone there's nobody on the other end.
Honestly I don't know what caused this. I do light surfing on my phone. (no porn, casino, ETC...) I usually install apps that I only pay for from the Market, and I usually only install what I need. I do have an unlocked BL & rooted Atrix (currently on stock 2.3.6).
I'm getting somewhere between 3-10 calls a day, and it's getting frustrating! I've been dabbling around lately with call blockers, but will probably need to spend more time researching them.
Anywhoo... Anybody else here dealing with the call spam as well? If so how much, and what are you doing about it?... (Call Blockers?, Antivirus?, Firewalls?)

Probably a better place to take this inquiry is to your provider. An app on the phone would not fix the underlying issue.
You could try Root Call Blocker.

I'm with AT&T. To my understanding, they can block numbers but these numbers are coming totally random so I'm not sure if there would be a limit or not or even if that's possible...

I've been picking away at different call blockers, but striking out since calls are still getting through. All this BS shortly happened after I rooted my phone, (needed to use a new root method) and it appears that these calls are coming from India.
So I'm not sure if I should stay rooted, unroot, or find a new root method?...
Simple in cm7 settings there is an option to block number so no more missed calls and **** (i am sure there is an app for that too) and for sms spam.control install go sms and block the numbers there too, i am sure u just block numbers and soon they will run out of numbers

I get a few spam calls each month. All from a cruise company. To combat it, I created a spam contact and add all spam calls to that contact, then just ignore calls that show as that contact. Pretty easy.

Thanks... Haven't gone the CM7 route yet. I'm not sure if flashing CM7 would be a solution to me though, since each one of these calls has been from a different number. I don't know if it's spoofed or what, but I don't know if these numbers are ever gonna run out.
The only thing I got to work is using a 3rd party app to "somewhat" block calls not in my contacts list. Phone still rings first. Unfortunately I still need to receive calls outside of my contact list for work. Probably the only "solution" that would work for now is if I could block out any call outside of the US, and also not ringing my phone when blocked. (since these calls seem to be coming from India on Google searches) I'm not sure if such a solution exists...

You have to pay for blocking with AT&T, and then its limited to only a few numbers. They wont arbitrarily block numbers. I would google the numbers. If they're spam you'll find threads about them. There are apps which block numbers not in your contact list and don't ring 1st. That would work for you for time being. You probably signed up for something where you input your number without thinking. I will try to find app I know about when I get home.

Search Mr. Number in the market. It has the option to send all non-contact calls straight to voicemail (and many other options). So long as you make sure your voicemail notification is silent, you should be set. If these spam calls are conistently blank, I assume they won't even leave a voicemail.
This is what I used to block my ex-wife!

I've been getting a lot of calls recently from random 877 and 360 area code numbers...not sure why but it's pretty annoying
I've gotten all kinds of calls from political candidates to timeshares calls. I have had this problem for a while so I started adding all those numbers to a generic contact (I called mine "Bad People"). I tried all kinds of apps but none worked well. I found that right in the Android contact list, there is an option to send contact straight to voice mail. I can confirm it on both CM7 and CM9, pretty sure blur had it but not 100%. I'm on CM9 right now and when you select the contact that option is available when you hit the menu button, it is not available when you are editing the contact.
Additionally, I was getting calls from "Unknown" callers which is also very annoying, to beat this I added a contact with the name "Unknown" and selected the option for that contact to go straight to voicemail and that has seemed to work. It went from 3 or 4 unknown calls a day to 0 and if it was a real person, they could always leave a message.
As a heads up, I had over 120 numbers on my fake contact and my phone was having a lot of trouble (adding, syncing and blocking), so I broke that one contact into 3 fake contacts, 50 numbers per fake contact seems to work pretty well, just make sure you send all 3 voicemail.
Also if you flash a new rom to your phone, you will have to go to the fake contact and check the box to send them back to voicemail, but that's easy to do.

That's the one I've been trying out right now. The jury is still out about that one, since the only way that it works well is if I block all numbers not in my contacts, but that isn't doable for work.
The frustrating part is that I am not getting the same number, it's "random" numbers and no number is the same when it calls. They all appear to be coming from India. If I can find a program that blocks all calls outside the US, it would be perfect...
Great solution actually.
Do you think the block list size caused problems?

lag in dialer and contacts app, a different kind

I have seen a lot of posts that says lag in dialer app - takes 4-5 seconds to load etc
In my s3 I have the same problem, but in addition to that when I try to access call logs of particular person from logs tab by touching records, it does not open when I turn off the phone, take the battery out for 4-5 seconds then I am able to access it, after a day or two the same problem shows up.
what to do? any permanent solution?
I am on rooted stock 4.0.4 ics
EDIT :
Sometimes even the call history doesn't gets saved.
please help guys sometimes i get important calls and i can't even see from which number did i got the missed call.
P.S. this only happens once in a while. But It is very frustrating, i cant even see the people who called me, miss calls or whom i call.

Thread moved to Q & A section, post in the relevant section next time.
I think the only solution is to MOD contacts app so that it can be kept in memory permanently so it can load faster.
I dont know about programming, is it possible to port AOSP contact in Samsung S3 with JB ROM?
Exdialer is the best replacement.

So what's the deal with sms notifications?

Not sure if this is a Note 2 thing or an Android thing, but I don't remember having this problem with my Evo 4G.
Right now my sms tone doesn't play correctly, it's like the first half of it gets skipped. People say it's because I have too many texts and I need to delete some of them. I think it's kind of ridiculous that I have to do that. I never deleted texts on any of my previous phones and never had this problem. I don't remember if it did it stock because I rooted and flashed almost immediately lol.
So far it's done it on CleanROM and Beans 7.
Is there a way to fix this or are we seriously forced to delete messages every so often? I already have auto-delete turned on but it doesn't help.
I always had that problem on my GS3, not the Note 2 yet, but it didnt matter how many messages I had or if I didnt have any at all it always cut off half of the tone. It did it to me on stock before I rooted and unlocked and after, it did it on TW and AOSP also.

So what's causing it? It's kind of strange that everyone is so nonchalant about it.
Like "yeah my phone does that, too, you get used to it."
Never had that on any phone. Is your tone huge or stored on an odd place?
I had this problem on my s3 also, what's happening is your texts are set to a 200 message limit, as you receive a new text over that limit it's deleting a text message in that thread to make room for the new one coming in (you should notice this happens with the most frequently messaged contacts) as it's deleting the notification sound is being interrupted, what you could do is raise your text limit instead of deleting the message thread that is causing the problem (the one over the 200 message limit) by opening your message app / menu /settings/text limit
Hope this helps..
Do the same with multimedia also, just to be safe..

Nope, they're in the Notifications folder. I was using the Codec sound from MGS at first, but now it's the jump sound from Super Mario Bros.

NICE!
Everyone always said I had to delete messages, so I lowered the limit to 100. I'll try raising it and see if that helps.
I have mine on a 1000 limit and haven't had that issue. That being said, when I switch roms I don't save messages and that usually happens before I hit the limit.

single phone number lost in contacts

So out of curiosity, let's say I had received a text message from a new contact, and then S-OFF -> installed a custom rom, would you say that my contact is completely lost or would there be a possible way to get it back from the full phone backup I made prior to unlocking? Anybody knows a good hypnotist? Maybe I'll magically remember the digits

How about doing it the smart way and writing the number down. Then just use sms backup plus to save the messages. You can also just save them as a Google Contact and sync your phone so you'll get the contact saved. Perhaps you might want to do all 3.
Press my thanks if that helps.

I was sort of hoping google contact would've saved it, but I guess I played with my phone too quickly after receiving that text message and the sync did not happen.
Lesson learned! (or maybe the NSA kept a copy for me? lol)
Log into your carrier account (my-tmobile, etc) to see the numbers you've texted. You can write it down from there.

Thanks, I already knew that, but I would rather find a way to make it not happen.
I'd love to find a way to make this happen too.
Ever since I got KitKat I've been butt dialing people, even with a pin lock screen. I don't want any one on the favorites screen for this very reason, but it then just adds anyone you call.
Well I'm with you guys.. Kind of annoying. If it can be done I'm sure you'll find a. Way spotmark
