Rezound Ranks 3rd in US User Satisfaction - HTC Rezound

The Rezound ranked third in user satisfaction in a recent survey, besting the iPhone 5. Despite getting almost no support from HTC and Verizon, people are happy with this device. source link
I am sure that this comes as no surprise to users of this forum. Despite being nearly a year and a half on the market, the Rezound still holds its own spec wise.
Of course, I would have far less satisfaction with the device if it weren't for the awesome devs at XDA.

Yep, the development is the only reason I don't have a dna right now. They are still struggling with s off and aosp ril problems. I'm glad there's so many types of roms here to keep me busy

Haven't been around for a while (for obvious reasons) but saw this, too. It's nice to know that the Rezound has this sort of rating. My daughter has mine now and she loves it, having come from an iPhone 3GS.

Rezound hardware is awesome, especially the screen. The software was made great by devs.
Rezound, s-off, loving it.

Coming from a bolt I can say I won't miss that headache of a phone. This is a great phone but to bad I can late in the game lol.

If this thing had shipped with an S4 processor it would have been perfect and still the best phone in VZW lineup. I've found a ROM that I love in de-Sensed Ineff Deus, Gr8Nole's red theme, DSB's awesome kernel and all the other tweaks performance-wise. That has freed me up to play in the fun Android activities like theming and app building. The M7 may steal me away if it lives up to expectations but I'm more than happy keeping the Rezound until then.

If HTC and VZW made a Rezound II with S4, adreno 320, same screen size as current Rezound or slightly bigger but not 5", 1080P (but not a necessity), 16gig onboard, SD card slot, swapable battery (but not necessary if slightly thinner), and better headphone jack shielding. I'd buy it right now even if it was running ICS. The current crop of phones have to many compromises. Non swappable batteries, no SD cards, only 16gig storage, locked bootloader, vz bloat, metered plans, .....ect.

Doubt that will ever happen sadly. Would be ideal but HTC atm is VZW's B.

Just retired my Rezound for the DNA. The DNA is an awesome device. I really liked my Rezound but the battery life was terrible. The DNA battery life is leaps and bounds better. If not for the developers the Rezound would not have been half the device it turned out to be.

They can call it whatever they want, I just mean to emphasize that there has been no true successor to the Rezound as the VZW flagship HTC device. Every thing has been over compromised. The only real compromise the original rezound had was it was kinda heavy and a little thicker than most of it's competitors at launch. Not including ICS, was a small consideration, and all devices at that time where getting terrible battery life.

Except the razr Maxx. If moto unlocked that phone, and I didn't drop it three stories into a pool, I'd still be using it. 30 hours vs 10 is a big difference. Put an extended on this phone and it looks pretty comical to say the least. Chugs way too hard, you'd think LCD > amoled right?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, there isn't a phone out right now that makes me want to get rid of my Rezound. There all too big, or too sealed, or have AMOLED (or all three).
I'm somewhat attracted to what I've heard of the HTC M4 just because of the size factor.

Rezound or One X?

I Really want to get a new HTC phone so i could get rid of my blackberry. I used to have a touchpro 2 and loved it!
so ive been researching both the rezound and one X but i can't come to a conclusion of which one to get... just looking for some opinions.
Thanks
One x I have the rezound and I love it but it wont get sense 4 and the one x has better specs

Are you in the US? If so, you're saddled to AT&T and we all know AT&T is a Rezounding failure. Verizon isn't picking up a "One" phone that we know of ... so unless Sense 4.0 is a deal breaker...Rezound all the way

It won't get Sense 4.0 officially, but developers are already working on Sense 4.0 with ICS 4.0.3 and it's a day or two from being released as a daily driver.
Even then the One X is a quad-core phone, there's no reason not to get it.
Although I don't like the white.

Honestly, do you really think you'll notice the difference between the S3 and S4 in daily use(if you're getting it American)? I'd rather have a 4.3 inch screen with 720p, than the gigantic 4.7, its nicer, and plus we have removable battery and sdcard space, a huge plus. The Rezound can run sense 4 perfectly fine, HTC just wants the one series to be their main money makers.

I don't care what a new phone does if you can't take the battery out.
Those are two really good reasons that nobody wants a nexus.
Performance wise, it won't be the deal breaker, since the dual core pretty much handles everything smoothly unless google optimize the next generation os with quad-core. Bigger engine doesn't always run faster and more efficient , especially in this high gas price age.

The nexus has a removable battery.
I don't mind the whole not.having an sd card thing. I'll be honest, it didn't bother me one bit. It takes five minutes to copy all the files over to your computer, and with the WiFi file transfer apps, its even shorter.
I definitely wouldn't base my decision of which phone to buy on whether there is a removable ad card. Unless someone can explain some great features that I simply haven't found yet.
With that said, the rezound is an awesome phone while amazing hardware. I absolutely love it

Even if Google optimizes the OS for quad cores, it'll only help for the actual Android system itself, not any of the apps you use, half the apps in the Play Store only use 1 core anyway and won't probably ever change that since it's not needed. (Facebook for example, Pandora, etc)
The S4 is a beast processor, best available, Tegra 3 is good for pure power but probably nothing else, I'd hold off on it honestly if you're rocking anything in the past few months.
Now if the One S came to Verizon with a S4 in it, that'd be a better debate.

Other than ImageSense, meh. S4 would be nice I guess, but all it'll do is bump my benchmarks.

Not really worth downgrading screen for the inc4g.

I'll probably like the inc 4g's form factor better cuz I have small hands. But, like others have said I love the Rezound's screen. Watching hulu, netflix, and surfing the web on the Rez is a joy.
I am surprised that the inc 4g is not much thinner than the Rezound.
I am jealous of the s4 processor though. Its more efficient and drains less battery on 4g. I also underclock my rez to 1.2 ghz anyway.
The inc 4g is a great phone, but I would miss the rez's beautiful screen too much. If I had not upgraded yet, I would jump on this.

For starters the S4 @ 1.2ghz > S3 @ 1.5ghz, in benches the S4 destroys the S3. But for all your normal usage you won't see much of a difference. 3D games and possibly loadtimes and probably webpage rendering is where you'll notice the difference mainly. Why they would stick a qHD screen on any new device is beyond my understanding. 4 v 4.3 meh no big deal.
It doesn't look bad. I don't really see it getting more devs than this phone. It just looks like a smaller rezound pretty much. With the exception of image sense and the S4 with the smaller lower rez screen, it may get a little better battery life (probably not enough to matter). I just see it fading into the background fairly quickly... The rez to me seems a little more high end even though its older.
The Inc4g just seems kind of blah to me I guess

Rezound VS. One S VS. GSIII

I was at a T-mobile store and took a look at the One S and the Rezound is better in these aspects.
1. Camera is better quality front and back I have back pics to prove
2. Screen is clearer on Rezound with Sense 4 rom well duh 720p vs qhd
3. I tested sound a little Rezound is clearer.
4. SD card slot/removable battery
One S is better in these aspects
1. Snappier due to stock sense 4 vs port
2. Camera burst mode works much better than laggy burst on Rezound which can be fixed because I saw I think inc 2 with it working really good.
3. Well duh One S has S4 chip
4. Imagechip but really Rezound can get all those imagechip features without it anyway.
One S is better than GSIII in these aspects
1. Better or worse UI but that's personal preference. I like Sense better
2. Beats
3. Better or worse Camera I forgot to test
4. Slimmer
GSIII is better in these aspects
1. 2 GB ram vs 1GB
2. NFC but I really dont care for it.
3. Screen size if you like it bigger (That's what she said)
4. Removable battery/SD card slot
5. 720p screen
Rezound is better than GSIII in these aspects
1. 342ppi vs 306ppi which technically means clearer screen on Rezound but still with Samoled HD on GSIII looks better.
2. 2mp vs 1.9 but really who cares about .1 difference.
3. Camera is a bit better. Sorry dont have pics since I forgot to send GSIII photo to my phone.
4. Beats and comes with Beats headphones
GSIII is better than Rezound in these aspects
1. NFC but like I said I really dont care for it
2. S4 Chip and phone is snappier
3. Bigger screen if you like it.
4. Slimmer.
5. Better battery
6. Screen looks sharper cause of Samoled
I did also notice lag opening GSII camera though and cam force close.

If GSIII had sense Id choose that.

You should also take a look at the Incredible 4G, it's like the One S, but same camera as the Rezound(though no Image Sense) on the rear, microsd slot, 4in(could be a plus or minus), and SLCD2 screen, which is suppose to be clear than the One S screen. Plus it's Droid branded Sense 4 if you are into that.

It maybe huge, but the question is are we to a point that 2gb is giving us that much an advantage? Are there Android software or games that requires more than 1gb of ram? I have hit the 1gb ram threshold so far, at least I don't think I have.

Will help with multitasking more than anything I would think.

Nothing wrong with more.
I swear if Samsung would fix the damn antennas I'd buy their phones. It's annoying as hell.

Both are on different networks, so it all depends on which network you prefer. I have the DNA, but I have used the One X+ and they are both great phones. It all comes down to preference at this point. The DNA has a 5" screen, the OneX+ a 4.8". The DNA has a 1080p screen, which is absolutely gorgeous, but the OneX+'s 720p screen is gorgeous itself. Both have similar processors and I believe 2GB of RAM, so there isn't much different spec-wise. Battery-life wise, the OneX+ has a slight edge over the DNA, as it has a 2100maH battery vs 2020maH, and you have to account that the DNA is powering a bigger screen with a higher pixel density. The OneX+ is also a lot more ergonomically comfortable to hold, this partly due to the fact that AT&T doesn't demand visual specifications as much as Verizon does.
If AT&T's network wasn't so bogged down and garbage, I'd say go for the OneX+. The DNA is quick, and aside from a blue splotch in the middle of the screen, has the best display on a smartphone ever, hands down. If you're in an area where AT&T doesn't suck, grab the OneX+. If not, grab the DNA.

I haven't noticed any issues of force closing apps, but Android as an entire OS automatically resizes apps to fit any screen. They are not "optimized" for the device yet, as iOS users call it. As far as I'm concerned, I can do anything that I could with my Droid Razr.
I will say that typing in landscape mode on my DNA is so uncomfortable and awkward that I just resort to typing in portrait, using Swiftkey (which is astoundingly accurate and not frustrating at all.) In all honesty, just get the OneX+. Your hands will be happier. To me, happy hands are a better trade-off than pleased retinas.
Also, a few corrections to my OP:
The screen size for the OneX+ is 4.7", not 4.8". It also only has 1GB of RAM, not 2GB. The OneX+ has a slightly higher clocked processor (1.7ghz vs. DNA's 1.5ghz quad core.) If I were you, I would just go to both stores and play with both phones. That's what I tell everyone in my company to do when they ask me for a new phone recommendation.
Get the DNA. Its newer, has a much better chip set and will probably get more updates

I can't stress how much of this is untrue, lol. While it might go without saying who can say which chip is better, the OneX+ runs off the Tegra 3 clocked at 1.7ghz, which is slightly higher than the S4. From what I've read, the Tegra 3 handles multicore operations slightly better than the S4. The battery life is actually worse on the DNA than the OneX+ too, FYI.
As far as which is newer, the OneX+ came out around the same time the DNA did, can't really say that one is newer than the other.

Clock speed really means nothing. And while a few games will only run on tegra, but I have yet to find a game on my DNA that I can't run on highest settings flawlessly. Quite a few games will bottleneck on the lackluster ram in the 1x+
And the DNA runs on the brand new s4 pro, not the old s4. I would love to see the 1x+ get 5-6 hours of screen on time
Oh, and even sense will get choppy on the 1x+ due to the ram. On my DNA there is usually around a gig of ram being used(there's currently 1.2 being used) the 1x+ would start lagging like crazy if it got close to its 1 gig.

LTE
As far as I know DNA wont support 4g LTE on At&t. Its a big factor if you stay in an LTE supported area. Also LTE is not as crowded as HSPA+ so you can expect better speeds.
Like the other guys said, it comes down to the carrier you want to go with. I have the DNA, and my girlfriend has the One X+. I prefer my DNA over her One X+, for many reasons:
- The DNA is easier to pick up when placed on a flat surface, since the One X+'s sides are more curved while the DNA's are flatter.
- The DNA's vibration motor is near silent, while the One X+'s vibration motor is louder than the ring itself.
- The DNA seems to be faster and smoother overall.
- The S4 processor runs cooler than the Tegra 3 (from what I've observed on both our phones).
On the other hand:
- While the DNA's screen is of higher resolution than the One X+'s, the screen on the One X+ does seem to be brighter than the one on the DNA - not sure why this is.
- My girlfriend's One X+ seems to be slightly out-lasting my DNA usually in terms of battery; HOWEVER, I keep my data on all the time, with background sync on, and with several accounts actively syncing. She keeps her mobile data off unless she needs it - then she'll turn it on, use it, and turn the data back off again. She also uses WiFi whenever possible, as opposed to me never using WiFi.
Either way, both of them are good phones!

Actually, no.
The S4 PRO, found on the DNA, is superior in pretty much every way to the Tegra 3. Every benchmark and real world usage tests I've seen attests to this fact.
In addition, to the best of my knowledge the One X+ has only 1GB of RAM, NOT 2GB (like the DNA).
The One X+ is a great phone, and if you're on a carrier that has the One X+, its a no brainer. But on Verizon, the DNA rules without a doubt.

Thanks for the correction.
I take both the DNA I think it's better, better display and battery is worse than minimal by One X +.
Are both good phones but I think the better DNA
Did you consider waiting for the M7? Sounds like it'll receive a lot more support than either the HOX+ or DNA
Im assuming your using AT&T? If LTE is a must then One X+ is a great choice otherwise droid DNA is an overall better phone in my opinion. Everything from the better screen, better processor, 2 gigs of ram vs 1gig on the HOX+, according to gsmarena, the DNA has better battery life than the one X+ too.

[Q] Note 3 worth upgrading?

Now that the big unveiled is over is there enough of a change to be worth upgrading to?
The rumored specs were worth it, but the actual specs... Not so much
Sent from my SCH-I605 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
This is going to get closed... there's a thread for other devices. Anyway, before that happens, they were the expected upgrades. 5.7" 1080p display, Snapdragon 800, 13MP camera. I like the Note series, I will upgrade to it once development is active.

To me the note 3 looks sickkkk but under the hood is alright does it at least have all the feature of the s4. Seems like s4 packed with way more tweaks

Expect it to be locked down like the S4 on Verizon. Specs are kind of meh when considering there hasn't been lag in phones for probably about a year now.

Yupp, but I'm always for a better screen and slimmer phone. I'm just hoping Hashcode's safestrap method for the S4 can be quickly implemented on the N3, plus if he gets kexec support working then we don't even really need an unlocked bootloader.
I expect the Verizon version to be rooted not long after the phone is released. Unlocking or jail breaking might take much longer.

Yeah, rooting is never a problem obviously. It's looking like we'll be going the S4/Moto route, no unlocking. Just safestrap/kexec.
That seems likely but maybe we will be surprised.
I won't be upgrading.
The human eye can only see so much so I think 1080P on a phone is pointless.
Running top and sar on the command line has yet to show me that I need more processing power.
More mega pixels on a camera mean nothing.
If I was still using my Galaxy Nexus I would get the Note 3, but it seems to me the only real upgrade is a few nice software features that may or not come down to the Note 2.
I can wait for the Note 4.
I will certainly upgrade... Unless that vision of the new nexus turns into a real life unicorn.

Our phone will get 4.3 sometime this year, well at least an international build but it's the same thing really.
3GB of RAM is pointless when our phone barely use a gig maybe a gig and a half.
Extra storage would be nice but with an SD card my note 2 currently has 80GB of storage so....
Can you seriously see pixels on your note 2? If you can then by all means, but if you can't then you won't notice anything different with the screen.
Again, why do you want a faster phone that will just eat battery quicker? Do you actually see lag on the note 2?
MPs mean nothing. Unless you own a 4K TV which in that case you have more than enough money to upgrade.
New battery is only 100mAh bigger than the current but you won't notice as the screen/CPU will eat up more battery.
I know your drawing at straws when you use the lines to describe the same thing, which isn't even true since it's the same size as the note 2 with a thinner bezel. Oh, and the last thing I want is my device to be lighter this thing already feels cheap enough.
Had an IR blaster on my tablet before. Absolutely never used it. More of a gimmick than anything.
S pen is basically the same, with small improvements which won't matter since 99% of us won't use it anyways.
I know I seem like an ass but someone needs to play devils advocate when everyone else out there is spewing about how amazing this device will be without comparing the specs to current phones. Its a note 2 with minimal upgrades, I personally expected more.

I never said it wasn't an upgrade but we are no longer talking going from single or dual core to quad core, or from 512 MB of RAM to 2 GB.
And 1 mm thinnger and 12g lighter is nothing you are going to notice. If you want to purchase it go right ahead, but I don't feel any of this is worth a $700 upgrade.
I would love to hear your criticism, if you would rather withhold it, then so be it.
I have read the reviews, they are all saying what I listed, it's a new phone with new specs, nothing spectacular. Actually, most of it is just about the software, which we will get in an software upgrade. Again, please point out my flaws, I didn't come here to talk to myself.
I wonder what software ported from the N3 will make it to the N2 given Verizon's glacially slow OTAs.
