Hi everyone,
I used flashtool on my laptop before. I successfully flashed to .73 using FTF file.
After that, I uninstalled everything. Now that I want to try the ICS, I reinstall PC Companion, then Flashtool, finally drivers in the flashtool/drivers folder.
When I start the flash, it is reported I don't have the drivers installed. I then installed Sony Update Services, reboot, back to flashtool still it says no drivers.
When I check on the help > drivers, I only have the USB drivers installed but not adb and the fastboot.
Any idea what's happening? Thanks
That happens because of window 7's campatibility problem
---------- Post added at 06:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:34 PM ----------
I'm korean and I'm using korean in window7. so some word can be wrong.
goto flashtool-drivers and right click flashtool-drivers.exe
choose attribute(bottom one)
and choose compatibility tap.
In compatibility mode, your choosing is maybe window7.
so change to vista service pack2.
do you do all?
than apply and
re right click icon and choose "launch with manager authority
that's all. finish
My goodness, I think it's because I didn't run the drivers installation with admin right. Geez, thanks, I will try it later.

Hi all,
My XPERIA U cannot get into fastboot mode even though I plugged the USB cable with holding down Volume Up Button.
I also tried it with holding down Volume Down Button.
I cannot have the bootloader unlocked.
My XPERIA U says its bootloader is allowed to be unlocked, and it is SIM free.
Please give me an advise to me!!
Thanks!

Same problem here
Anyway I try downloading flashtool and in the driver folder ( inside flashtool folder) there is an installer try install it when there are check box check them all and install
After that fastboot mode should be working
This is the easiest way to install fastboot driver, I think
It works for me

Just get the flashtool from here:
http://androxyde.github.com/
Install it (make sure you disable your antivirus while downloading).
Open C:\Flashtool\drivers and install the drivers.
Its the easiest way as Theonlyzii mentioned.
Theres workaround in general forum.
You must FAST!
Open device manager first
When you plugged in ur device with fast boot mode there should be a new driver detected on device manager,. Right click and update driver( you must fast before its disappear). After you succesfully install the driver now you can reconnect ur device in fastboot mode.
Hope this help. You might want to search that workaround im talking about for clearer instruction.

Thanks all!!
Finally I could succeed unlocking the bootloader with the way of installing the driver from flashtool that you advised me!
I was not able to this method on my Windows8 RP PC, and I did not find the reason why I cannot. And I succeeded this on another Windows 7 PC! Thanks to you, I could notice that.
And for you, ankh.red,
I was trying it many times because my Xperia U turn off the blue LED soon(around 3 seconds). But it was always failing detecting any driver after I catch my Xperia U on the Device Manager. Of cource I had a driver from Sony's official page.
I think windows8 will need some change to do this. I have found on web someone who succeeded it on Windows8...
Anyway, I was helped by you! Thank you!! I will search next interesting things on the rooted from now!

Yeah I have the same problem before... Blue LED 3 sec,

Happy rooting lol

1. Why the speaker is so quite or is it just me?!
2. How can i root without unlocking bootloader since i dont wanna loose drm files( did they even important?! )
3. If there be some forum just for xperia U/P or we need to post in this ection....
P.S. previousely iv had xperia x8 so im new with this xperia, and sorry if this questions are already answered....
1. Enable xLoud in Settings>Sound
2. Not yet possible. I believe DRM is some protection given to music files bought legally. I think you might not be able to play such files (correct me if I'm wrong)
3. Not yet. Many have requested mods. No seperate sections

For Windows 8 users. The drivers cannot be installed because of the driver signature enforcement.
This is how to disable it.
First, press win + I to launch the charm bar, and click Change PC Settings at the bottom.
Then, go to General, and scroll to the bottom of the page, click Restart Now button under Advanced Startup section.
The computer reboots to a startup menu, in which click Troubleshoot.
And click Advanced Options at next screen.
Choose Startup Settings next And click Restart button.
The computer reboots and prompts another menu to choose. One of the items is to Disable driver signature enforcement. Press number 7 or F7 to continue booting to Windows 8 with digital sign enforcement disabled.
Hope that helps

Just download and install ADB in your PC and update your drivers in ADB
http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html
This should solve it.
Make sure Tethering is ON in settings> Development
And a short cut is install Sony PC Companion and it will also install drivers for your phone!
This should work !

The SDK i am using is about 420 MB in zip file and goes over 850 MB. So we are using different versions.
Secondly, When you open ADB, it asks you to update tools. There must be UPDATE DRIVERS. Install that and it should work. Make sure you run as administrator. I havenot seen any attachment with your post!
I downloaded it from here. 32 bit . Use according to your motherboard.
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Also, to flash your rom, you must have FTF file of STOCK. And your Sony PC companion shouldnot be running in the background.
I am attaching a file. You can easily tick the drivers you need to install as seen in the image.
You do not need to unlock your bootloader to flash STOCK rom, however, to install most of custom roms, You will need to unlock the bootloader.

You soft-bricked your phone. I had also made this mistake when i first flashed the rom.
1. Download flashtool for xperia devices. http://androxyde.github.io/
2. Go to the folder where you installed flashtool. There you'll see a folder named - drivers.
3. Click on it and run the exe file.
4. In the driver installation wizard you'll see names of phone models. Check on xperia p, u sola and go then in same list scroll down and also check fastboot and flashtool drivers. Let drivers install (i recommend to turn off firewall and and antivirus for this).
5. Run the flashtool. Then press and hold vol down button and plug your phone to pc. Let flashtool detect your phone.
6. Then download and Flash the stock firmware. For that you need to copy ftf file to the folder called 'firmwares'. You can find that folder where you installed flashtool.
7. In flashtool click the thunder icon, select flashmode, select the ftf file you need to install, be sure to tick - wipe data, wipe apps, wide app log
8. then let flashtool flash the stock rom
9. Unlock the bootloader properly. For that note down your imei no. somewhere. Then on sony developer site request for bootloader unlock then you'll get a mail having a password. note it carefully.
10. click on 'unlock symbol' in flashtool and it will guide unlock your bootloader.
11. Press thanks if i helped.

If you are completely stock then dont worry just clear cache and dalvik and then power off your phone for 4-5 hours. Then your phone will able to detect sim card.
It happens with me too.
Its a very weird bug.. I dont know how to fix it.

I did flash a generic firmware a while ago and it worked.
I don't think that my phone is st25a.
I bought it from romania, so i think it would be st25i.

Thanks a lot man.
I like the xda comunity, always helping. I will try and find out now what phone i have.
Will post update.
PS: I forgot to say about this strange thing.
If i start up phone without sim, it can detect the baseband version and the IMEI.
But if i reboot with sim in, it sais nothing when i ask for imei *#06#.
It just sais: "IMEI"
Update: phone is ST25i

Flashed the B.1.89 as the phone said it's st25i.
Removed battery.
Will wait for about 6 hours then put back battery and power it up.
I will also post update about phone status.

Update: after more than 6 hours without battery, i've put in in then start phone..Still no signal.
Also, when my sim is plugged in it can't recognize the phone's IMEI or Baseband.
But, when i start it up without sim it does.
It can't search for networks either with sim in or without.
Any more fixes available??

Why would i want to flash st25a software?
I flashed the one for ST25i. Still nothing.
My problem seems to be related to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2413677
Hello, recently I tried to flash my phone in flashtool and always stuck at "reading device information", even xperia companion can't detect it !
I re-installed all drivers, tried old versions of flashtool and firmware but always the same problem.
My phone is rooted but I don't know about bootloader. Any help? suggestions?
Thanks
Hi, I managed today to get mine working again. I had rooted it with RR but then got a bootloop. After giving up I found a forum that mentioned Sony Emma and I have managed to get my phone back to stock rom and working fine again.

Try this.
Remove whatever flashtool version you have.
Disable windows driver signature enforcement.
https://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how-to-disable-driver-signature-verification-on-64-bit-windows-8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/
Restart your pc or laptop.
Install ADB.You might not need this but just to be on the safe side.

Install flashtool-0.9.18.6 with all the drivers.
(For some reason this is the most compatible one for Xperia Z2)
Then try flashing again.
sorry about the late reply. ?
Let me know how it goes ✌

It really seems like a flashtool/driver issue .I had the same error a while back , i used that version and it's drivers as i mentioned earlier and everything worked fine.
Just to be on the safe side, give it a try on another pc and see ✌
