Just download and install ADB in your PC and update your drivers in ADB
http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html
This should solve it.
Make sure Tethering is ON in settings> Development
And a short cut is install Sony PC Companion and it will also install drivers for your phone!
This should work !
Good Luck

Then you will need to make sure that PC companion isnot working in the background. You can check it in the taskbar.
Plus install the SDK with its driver if that doesnot work.
Make sure you are running as Administrator.

To unlock your bootloader you will need to get that from SONY website only
I mean, SONY will send you a code and then you can unlock your bootloader.
I will send you the link.

The SDK i am using is about 420 MB in zip file and goes over 850 MB. So we are using different versions.
Secondly, When you open ADB, it asks you to update tools. There must be UPDATE DRIVERS. Install that and it should work. Make sure you run as administrator. I havenot seen any attachment with your post!
I downloaded it from here. 32 bit . Use according to your motherboard.
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Also, to flash your rom, you must have FTF file of STOCK. And your Sony PC companion shouldnot be running in the background.
I am attaching a file. You can easily tick the drivers you need to install as seen in the image.
You do not need to unlock your bootloader to flash STOCK rom, however, to install most of custom roms, You will need to unlock the bootloader.

Well you can not install it from there.
Download SDK and then in that list of things to be installed, INSTALL USB DRIVERS.

[Q] [help]xperia ray. update to android 4.0

So my phone says that there is a update to android 4.0 (4.1.A.0.562) and it tells me to download PC companion to my laptop. When i plug the USB in my xperia ray it does everything that expected, but when it starts to download the software to my device it says "phone has changed operating system that can't be updated"
Is there a way that i can force update my xperia ray or do i have to unlock bootloader and root my phone. I have tried to unlock bootloader but i think it failed because android sdk tools can't download USB drivers.
Wrong section mate. Either use flashtool or SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service)

Maybe the device and your PC havent ready
did a notification about fastboot (usually indication about removable disk) in systray appear?
if yes , you shouldnt have any problem flashing any ftf or img

Xperia U flash mode not recognized.

Okay, so i've played a bit with CWM recovery.
My device cannot have it's boodloader unlocked.
Yesterday, i accidentally flashed something that was for devices with bootloader unlocked and the phone didn't start after reboot.
If i press the power button it just vibrates once, but doesn't start.
If i put it in flash mode my pc tells me that the device cannot be recognized.(Device enumeration failed)
I want to flash it to stock firmware.
What can i do?

You soft-bricked your phone. I had also made this mistake when i first flashed the rom.
1. Download flashtool for xperia devices. http://androxyde.github.io/
2. Go to the folder where you installed flashtool. There you'll see a folder named - drivers.
3. Click on it and run the exe file.
4. In the driver installation wizard you'll see names of phone models. Check on xperia p, u sola and go then in same list scroll down and also check fastboot and flashtool drivers. Let drivers install (i recommend to turn off firewall and and antivirus for this).
5. Run the flashtool. Then press and hold vol down button and plug your phone to pc. Let flashtool detect your phone.
6. Then download and Flash the stock firmware. For that you need to copy ftf file to the folder called 'firmwares'. You can find that folder where you installed flashtool.
7. In flashtool click the thunder icon, select flashmode, select the ftf file you need to install, be sure to tick - wipe data, wipe apps, wide app log
8. then let flashtool flash the stock rom
9. Unlock the bootloader properly. For that note down your imei no. somewhere. Then on sony developer site request for bootloader unlock then you'll get a mail having a password. note it carefully.
10. click on 'unlock symbol' in flashtool and it will guide unlock your bootloader.
11. Press thanks if i helped.

You would've helped me if it wasn't for:
1. Phone is not starting up, just vibrating once. If plugged into computer gives "USB not recognized error"
Drivers are installed corectly, but after this brick, pc is not recognizing the phone.
2. I cannot unlock the bootloader, the phone is Bootloader Unlock Allowed: NO, got it from Orange Romania carrier.
I am hoping my windows 8.1 desktop is at fault.
Trying on windows 8 laptop.
I will get back to you with results.
It was the pc with windows 8.1
So i flashed B89 firmware, but it seems to be non-rootable.
My sim is not detected either.
Any ideea what could be the problem?

[Q] Xperia P fastboot Troubleshooting

Hello and good morning!
I know this shouldn't have been my first post and i'm most likely to break a forum's rule but i really need help.
First of all, I have to tell that I'm a complete noob in "rooting" and "unlocking bootloader" etc.
Yesterday, as i was following Dewanshu93's guide for Rooting/Unlocking Bootloader/Nandroid Backup//CWM/Flashtool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/p-development/starters-guide-help-newbies-flashtool-t2107775), fastbooting my Xperia P to unlock bootloader was a total disaster. At first everything was ok. The phone was connected and Windows started installing some driver called "S1 Fastboot" (something like that) but it failed. Since then, every single try i make to fastboot ends to my Xperia P being charged.
Battery was up to 55%.
I am using JB 4.1.2,
Build Number is 6.2.A.1.100 ( followed DoomLoRD's guide to root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/p-development/p-doomlord-easy-rooting-toolkit-v17-t2335992
Phone is rooted using the guide listed above
Bootloader CAN be unlocked
I have installed Android SDK
I searched the forums for a while but didn't find anything to count on. Hope you guys can help me or give me an alternative.
Sorry for the inconvenience

In your Flashtool folder. Then open drivers and run the file inside.
check all needed drivers (xperia p / fastboot / flashtoo(at the bottom of the list)
then it should work.
if you have more problems then upload flashtool log.

Install ALL drivers from flashtool(atleast p/u/sola/go, fastboot+flashtool drivers) as suggested above. Also I read somewhere that fastboot doesn't works in USB 3.0 port, so try with USB 2.0
Cheers,
AJ

I have downloaded and installed Emma from the official website (developer*sonymobile*com) because the links in the guide are dead.
In dewanshu93's guide says there should be a C:/Flastool folder but there isn't.
Please excuse my lack of knowledge. I'm trying to learn

I am trying to unlock all my phone's features. I read pros and cons of rooting/unlocking bootloader and thought i should do it. What i'm exactly trying to do right now is to follow step-by-step a guide i found at the forum. It says I need to download a file i can't find. The file - according to the guide, is somewhere in the XDA forums.

You only need to unlock bootloader if you want to install custom kernels, To use DooMLorRD's easy rooting kit you don't need to unlock bootloader.
And there is no need for no file what so ever.
Before you continue, try to connect the phone at flash mode(volume down while connecting to USB) and fastboot mode(volume up), the phone must be turned off of course.
Open flash tool while you do it, flash mode should stay connected for about 45 seconds, fastboot im not sure but I think it's indefinately.
Unless you can have flashmode stay connected for more than few seconds, do not root or unlock your bootloader, this is the key for recovery, and you don't want to mess up with your phone unless you are sure you can recover.

I actually need to download a .ftf file because my xperia P won't show in "device" category in flashtool.
PS: Flashmode failed with error "device disconnected" even though i didn't disconnect the device or stop holding volume down.
PS2: I have already unlocked my bootloader. I want to install kernels to exted battery life and improve overall performance

I will say it once again and no more, if you brick your phone ehich will happen sooner or later you will regrate it dearly if you don't have flash mode functional.
Did you install flash and fastboot mode drivers that come with flashtool?
Which OS are you using?
There is no need to continue holding down volume down key, only while connecting, it won't help keeping it in flash mode once established.

First of all, thanks for your patience. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Also, i have installed Fastboot, Flashmode, and Xperia P/U/Sola drivers from flashtool as suggested. When i connect my device to flashtool as "Flash Mode" it seems to be properly working and expects me to flash it. I suppose that the file i am desperately looking and i can't find is to flash my Xperia P.. Guide says to put that file in C:/Flashtool/Firmware. The only file that's already in that folder is "X10_V1_BLRelock.ftf". I don't doubt the guide's decency and as i can assume from the comments below it is a great guide.
You don't neet any file to unlock your bootloader, just go to Sony's site, get your unlock code, click the BLU button in flashtool and follow the instructions.

Help to root Sony xperia Z2

I recently updated my z2 through my pc (ota update) to lollipop ? and now i want to root my phone..

First off, download and install Flashtool from HERE , install the software and then go to drivers folder, or just copy and past this link in your Computer address bar C:\Flashtool\drivers\Flashtool-drivers.exe
check these boxes |Flashmode drivers|Fastboot drivers| Xperia Z2 device drivers and press next to install them, better restart your computer afterwards. After doing these steps reply to me and I'm gonna tell you what next
