I believe some of you guys are looking for this, arent you?
As i didnt found anything about this in this forums, i thought i should bring this up to you.
i didnt tested, so i dont know if it will work, but i think you should know how to do it if you wanted to.
Its an overclock module to any MSM8x60 device, originally made for the Sensation and EVO 3D, but in theory, it works with the dual core S4 as well, since it is for "all" MSM8x60, and this "x" is a variable, so it can be for Both 8260 and 8660(S3 SoCs) and 8260A, 8660A, 8960,8960T(S4 SoCs)
And to make you happier, i heard the same applies to the GPU overclock module (made for S3, but didnt found it...). ;D

Im interested in finding out if this works also, would be nice to OC when im transferring large files from INT storage to my 64GB MicroSD while doing other things on the phone...
bump for and interesting thread. i hope this pans out.
i tested this modules in the xperia s and have seen this running in person in the american sgs 3, from ATT i think, it uses the same SoC(CPU+GPU) the razr hd does, so in theory it should work.
yet, to confirm it works in the razr hd, it need testing. but as some devs said, it is a universal module, so it works with all S4 krait SoC based devices, same for the GPU OC(sorry, id seen it somewhere, but still didnt found it...)

It doesn't work on a JB device.
From my device : Linux version 3.0.31-g59a8475 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.4.3 (GCC) ) #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Nov 3 08:11:31 PDT 2012
I'm pretty sure the files in this thread were built for a 2.6.1 kernel.
I tried and the module won't load. So we need to wait for someone to update the module for the 3.0.31 version.

I'll try it once it's upgraded.
but for now, there is no chance of it working because the kernel is all wrong.

Any updates on OCing the HD?
Hi, I'm a new member, I was looking for an overclocking method for the RAZR HD. Is there any update for this thread?
Something like a custom kernel?, or an updated overclock module?
Thanks, and sorry for my bad english

Wake me when we ASUS/NVIDIA have caught up to the mainline kernel. Hopefully it's soon, because a few more Application Not Responding messages on this thing and I might just smash it.

have you not unlocked and flashed a custom ROM? Apparently, doing that gets rid of a lot of the ANR problems.

I don't know why they are showing that old kernel when the Nexus 7 has the 3.1.10. JB with the 2.6.39 kernel on the Prime would be pretty much worthless to me.

the 3.x.x.x kernel isn't stable we've been through this already with CM9 it was on there for a few builds and was so unstable. Won't affect JB.

Not really, as long as the kernel made by Asus (the one we are currently running) is tweaked to run ICS well... Of course, on the other hand, when Asus manages to update the kernel, a lot of crap may be set right and we may have some better experience and performance...
Hi guys. Just want to ask why is there no kernel yet that supports overclock for the International version of the Htc one x plus. I've been checking all of the kernel updates for this device for the past 7 months and there isn't any kernel yet that supports overclocking.... I mean the Htc one which came out a few months later than my device managed to be overclocked to 2.1Ghz. Is it because the device has some kind of lock that doesn't allow overclocking in the device ?

Why do people post questions such as these only to never respond when people post back?
This phone is a beast out of the box. Oc'ing it would only end the life span of the phone sooner than expected. Heck I keep it in power saving mode most of the time and while playing graphic intense games I notice next to no stutter.

It would be awesome to overclock it to 2.0ghz. Nice round number too
But you can overclock the GPU with Tegra overclock app (which i torrented) . Thats all i know so far with overclocking.
(Using elite kernel with Viperx+)
I'm sure it's possible but this is phone is already ridiculously hot and almost approaches painful to hold when you use it heavily. Just stick to the >1.7GHz
I'm sou sorry
I just want to know that I could oc the device, that doesn't I'm going to keep it in 2Ghz if I could oc it... its just nice to know that I could, like the HTC one..

Google does not update SGX DDK binaries(kern module and userspace libs) since 4.0.4. Motorola do that for its 4.1.2 release. So GPU drivers definitely newer on Razr. But this will not solve 4.4 issues xD

Regarding to hacking OMAP: Could you help me with the ducati binary? Need to fix it for use with modified kernel - but as you might know - it's closed source precompiled by Big Moto. The most highest supported kernel version is 3.0.88. Any idea how to make it better? Currently we have working 720p video recording - with some minor issues like Gallery FCs after saving the video file, and 1080p works with random lags sometimes - sometimes it works without any problem.
And what do you know about the HDMI drivers?

Hey guys,
First off. Mahdi rom is Amazing! I love all the features and it had just the right amount of features for my new G2! Thanks Doc for maintaining this for us!
Second, I am a kernel dev and am working on my own kernel for the G2. I have essentially made my base Savoca's Furnace Kernel (With his permission of course) and will be adding in features as I go. Currently I build for the Moto G but wanted to buy a higher end device and love this phone. I have the D800 (AT&T) so as it stands I only have a test kernel for the D800/JDI. You may be able to use Savoca's new panel tool that you flash after flashing the kernel to swap screen support. I would love for some others to test it out and let me know. I will be bringing a different perspective to kernel Dev'n than normal. I like to be hands on about the process and to instigate discussion so others can learn. Let me know if anyone is interested.I will be building for all variants that Furnace kernel supports.
Note to ALL: I will open an official thread when I am satisfied with testing. Thanks for your interest! Hope I can bring something new to the G2!
Right now I have added:
Custom Hotplug from Blechd0se (Moto G) Falcon Hotplug - Ultra simplified and efficient.
Sl(auo)b optimizations
frandom
ETC
Check source for more indepth info!
Just pm me if you are interested. Everything looks to be going pretty good so I should be opening a thread pretty soon. Remember this is still in Beta. Still I would love to hear from others out there. Thanks!

I looked at Savoca source and it appeared to have no FM support in audio driver, same as Mahdi now.
I'll copy my post from Mahdi thread, in case your interested in enabling FM:
I've concluded that sound/soc/msm/msm8974.c needs to be patched with the "#ifdef CONFIG_SND_FM_RADIO" code seen here: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_kernel_lge_msm8974/blob/cm-11.0/sound/soc/msm/msm8974.c
Unless you're up for that, I'll presume I'll try it myself.
Any tips for kernel building for a JDI LS980 ? I built a few Android kernels in 2013, but never even tried flashing them.
That said, I've been doing embedded linux professionally since 1997.
Thanks !

hi, thank you for supporting our beloved g2 we all appreciate it, i just have a request. you see , only the Qremote can control the IR on our device, lg didnt use the real android open source drivers for it . so we cant use apps like smartIR whereas samsung n htc are compatible. im just suggesting if you can try and implement open source IR drivers to the g2 ? so that we can use all these apps that utilize that api i know this is gonna be an insanely though part as you'd have to figure out which hw IR we are using and then implement a compatible driver for it. but im just suggesting that this is perhaps the only bad part of the g2 till now

I like challenges, I will take a look as soon as I can. Most likely it will be after I get everything completely setup. If you could remind me later when I open up the official thread. Thanks!

im experienced at coding, c,java, html and php. i ahve compiled kernels in the past but that was like 4 years ago.ill try my best to help you. although ill need your help too.
I've looked under terminal and it states I have a lgd. Flashed savacos older kernels that were lgd and they all worked fine. I get no black lines just when I shut the screen off it comes on but full black.

Weird, I am pretty certain I build to LGD variant. Sorry brother. Try using Savoca's panel changer that you flash after the kernel. I even used Savoca's build script so not sure what the problem is but I am pretty sure that it's not a SoD problem you are having but a panel issue.
Now who want can porto a stable version for nexus5, but this post, is not to brake developers balls, but because i want to know if the problem to port is in the kernel.
The kernel is the problem

Still trying to understand this. All these phones are getting ports but there are people saying we need a whole new kernel. Yet the bigger devs are supposedly already working on a port?
Jackpotclalvin got lollipop to boot on the Verizon g2! No ROM yet, but eventually its gonna happen. Be sure to thank him for his hard work too!

Yeah I don't know either, wish a Dev could explain this to me... The Optimum G has a mostly functioning Lollipop ROM according to a post I saw on G+ yesterday... Why would it be harder to build for us? Especially since so much of our hardware is similar to the Nexus 5...

You do not need a 5.0 kernel for the G2, older devices have newer versions of android w/o having the corresponding source. I'm using 4.4.4 on my Galaxy S1 just like my G2 (except the S1 obviously didn't receive 4.4.x).

I think that a kernel is important for performance OK, but can boot too without a perfect kernel. Wait ThE big dev
