Ok im not new to rooting or flashing roms having done so with an htc evo 4g and a droid bionic... now i have a droid razr xt912 and have rooted it fresh out of the box then decided to update to jellybean. and rooted it agian everything works great even got almost every safestrap version there is due to every jb rom states that it is only for certion versions of safestrap after installing and flashing roms i wanted to try..... every one of them just catches into boot loops coming out of safestrap into the rom ....i can tell safestrap is still running due to weird effects it does to my screen and never loads into the rom...... i finaly installed ss3.11 to try reds rom and jelly wiz rs5 and rs 7........ reds finally booted and ran but wiz even after following every step and even waiting over 30 mins still never loaded ... what is causing none of these roms to work?

In SS 3.11, I installed one of those R3ds roms and it was fine. When I wanted to try a different one, I discovered that I had to delete the romslot and recreate it.
I don't have to do that process again when restoring the R3ds ROM back over though.
I've done this several times including uninstalling ss and reinstalling... I've tried just installing ss and then just ROM without gapps or ota updater zips that are also for ROMs and no matter what I do or how I install and flash only the one reds jb ROM will load .... I've followed every instruction given for each ROM even meticulously reading the thread for anything I missed or for updated info and solutions to problems yet nothing works I'm a big fan of ROMs n themes as well as apps and software from xda and I've never had such problems

Have you tried just starting fromt eh beginning? get the OTA JB zip, create a new rom slot in SS3.11, wipe everything, cache, dalvik, fact reset, system, then install JB OTA zip. then go from there?

actually, it might be better to install the JB OTA on the Stock partition of SS, then try installing the ROMS in the ROM slots

For some reason I cannot flash 4.0 roms. I wipe everything and format system but still no go. I get stuck at a black screen after the red Moto boot logo.
Any help would be great. Thanks
Is your system up to date. I've noticed that they all state your phone must be at version 6.12.173... I've had mine about a week, and it was at 6.11, and I had to flash the update manually as the ota wasn't taking. I have yet to try an ICS rom though.
Think someone also had a problem because they were not using the latest version of Safestrap.

Just flashed hacksungs ics and wifi will not connect at all. Tried it on both build 2 and build 5, coming straight from an sbf. I read somewhere that wiping cache and fixing permissions solves this but it didn't. Fascinate is my old phone so I apologize if there is a simple solution to this, Motorola is a whole other demon..
Here's my process: sbf + install recovery (cwm4), root with oneclick, wipe data/cache, flash ROM and gapps.

Forgot to mention it's not a hardware thing, wifi is just fine when I go back to stock.

When you say SBF, you mean ODIN or Heimdall?

Something about your process doesn't seem quite right but I'm, not entirely sure what you are doing due to not being familiar with what an SBF is.
In any case I can tell you a few things:
Youshouldn't have to manually root. ICS ROMS come pre-rooted. Maybe something there is causing a conflict.
THS builds 2 and 5 are OLD. They may or may not still be recommended as an intermediate flash but I know THS is on at least B10 now. Personally I'd ercommend AOKP B38 but that's a person decision.
Also, make sure you are Odin-ing the correct MTD firendly CWM. It should be available in the THS threads.
Finally, THS doesn't really come round these parts no more. That ROM is based on rootzwiki and you may find betetr assistance and more THS users there.
Lastly, and most importantly, follow THIS GUIDE. It is tried and true and has worked for a ton of people learning on this phone.
My bad sbf must be a moto term - set back factory (Odin.) The root occurs before I flash the ROM while I'm still on froyo. Where can I find newer builds? Rootz only had up to 5 unless it was an old post or something. THS seems to be a pretty simple install which is why I'm not sure what's causing this, especially the same problem with multiple builds.

there are no custom roms in the sense other phones currently have. right now each flash is basically it's own version of the OS and overwrites what was previously there.
so potentially is there a way to move files from bean's rom the asop theme to Adam's package?

No easy way, you're better off just flashing back to Beans build.

Once we have the bootloader unlocked (I read there is an announcement tomorrow regarding it) we will be able to backup and restore prior ROM's and builds etc. That will make life far more interesting.
There's really no reason to run Adam's unless you are needing the utilities that are included.

Your apps stayed because you didn't 'wipe' data while flashing. This is known as a 'dirty' flash. For simple ROMS that are mostly stock it's usually not a problem.
As ROMS become more customized dirty flashing starts to cause problems, especially when going to different versions. You end up with FCs.
Hi, This question arises after much research and several kernel/rom combination attempts failing.
I have been having problems with the rooting/ROM flashing on several i777 lately. Obviously there are so many different ROMs and kernels. Mostly the ROMs I try are call "ROOTED STOCK ROMS" and custom kernels.
One observation I would really like to express is that NOTHING created by the dev. "ZEDOMAX" has EVER worked for me.!!!! Wiping/formatting, nothing. I have had problems ranging from non-booting to booting and running but overheating and rapid battery drain.
Also, seems as though this phone has lost the battle against age, in that all the custom dev. seems to be more than a year old, except for the UCMD8 that just came out. I also can't get that one to work. I reverted to ICS 4.0.3 mistakenly believing that the format/wipe step was safe unlike the 4.0.4 version which everyone warns against. Now I see that that is a problem for 4.0.3 as well, so I went with rooting 2.3.4 and tried to install GALAXSIMUNLOCK. It just won't install!!!
What to do now? This is exhausting.!!!
Interestingly, These phones still show LOTS of demand in the market whereas, The BEAUTIFULL pebble blue S3 with a brand new LCD/FRAME I have just sits there, no interest in it at all???
Any opinions would be GREATLY appreciated. Maybe 2.3.4 is too old for GALAXSIMUNLOCK???
Thanks

Apparently GB 2.3.4 is too old. I flashed a stock 4.0.4 ICS. Rooted, unlocked and updated to UCMD8. All is good!!!!
I also can't get UCMD8 rooted(cooked) rom to install for some reason it always turns out STOCK!!! very strange.

Cooked is essentially stock. You won't notice much difference in the way it looks. But there are differences. It has AJK kernel instead of stock kernel, has root and busybox, is deodexed and has been debloated. You can check on any of those things to see if they are there. Boot into recovery, try a root application, use a root file explorer to look into the root files, etc.
Make sure you data factory reset and wipe cache and dalvik in cwm recovery. Reboot in to recovery and flash the cooked rom again. Make sure the rom download was not corrupt.

Just wanted to thank the framaroot developer. I was able to use the first exploit, "Sam" on my wife's AT&T SGH-I777 GSII running 4.0.4. Now, onto a custom ROM!
Device: Droid RAZR xxt912
ROM loader: Safe strap 3.60
ROM: AOKP mr-2
Gapps ver: 4.3
NOTE TO FORUM MODS:
I'm posting this here because the forum rules for a new user are complete insanity and I can't figure out where else to put it since only General posting is allowed. Secondly, the search forum and device buttons/boxes are not working on my phone, they simply refresh the website.
I've completely wiped my phone back to stock original and formatted the SD card. I installed safe strap, downloaded the latest nightly of Aokp, downloaded the latest 4.3 gapps, rebooted to SS. I then formatted slot-1, wiped cache/dalvik, flashed ROM,flashed gapps, and rebooted.
At first, the WiFi didn't work. I repeated flashing dirty. It fixed it.
Second, I can't install any apps without getting the Can't Install to USB storage or SD card message.
I tried unmounting. Didn't work. I tried deleting a file called smlp2tmp (or something like that). Didn't work. I tried reformatting my SD card. Didn't work. I tried repeating the entire process from the beginning. Didn't work. Needless to say, this ROM is fast but not working for me.
Also, phone calls will randomly disconnect. Service on Verizon stays at one bar even when standing near a tower. Screen flickers randomly. Sometimes the keyboard will freak out.
That's about it. I don't understand why people say "This is the best ROM...but here's 100 issues to look for!"
On that note, if anyone has comments or helpful concerns to enlighten my problems, I would appreciate it. Thanks to all of xda for a great forum.
Go into SS and (fix permissions) this usually fix almost any problem with AOKP roms. Worked for me but then again I am on a different phone.

Well then let me give more details. I use stock slot with the newest JBX kernel and safestrap 3.60. Let me know if that fixes your problem you don't have to use stock slot to to be safe.

@Dravekx Is this a possible solution?
Another way is to switch to stock rom or whatever, download apps you need, back them up with titanium back up. Switch back to previous rom and restore.

Even when app2sd is not enabled by default for an app you can use also titanium backup to move apps.

Yep. Flashing JBX after flashing AOKP worked. Everything installs fine now, although any actions on the phone are choppy after installing all the apps I use. Guess I'll need to tweak my settings a bit and learn more about the ROM.
