[Q] headphone jack not playing any audio - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello,
i dropped my phone into water, have since dried it off and recovered all functions.
however, the headphone jack and inverse camera have stopped working, i don't really care about the camera, but i really need the headphone jack to work.
i did a factory reset on my phone and the jack worked for about a week, then stopped. i assumed it was a hardware issue and ordered a replacement part, which i then installed, but the phone still wont play any audio. once i plug earphones in i can hear music for about half a second, which then cuts off, no matter how much i jiggle the jack or play around with the parts. i can see that the phone recognises that there are earphones in the jack, but no sound whatsoever comes through the earphones, so i'm wondering if this could possibly be a software issue...
anyway, im stumped right now, so any help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance!

If you suspect that it's a software issue you could add information of what software you're using in the post. What version of android are you running, which audio player are you using etc.

[Q] 3.5 MM Headphone jack issue

Hey guys I need some help.
I noticed the last few days that my headphone jack in my phone is not working any more. Basically what happens it that when I'm trying to play music on Winamp, all I get is some crackling noises and a very feint noise of the song playing in the background. When trying to play a podcast in Beyondpod, I just get no audio at all. These things do work when playing out of my speaker, however.
I am on Jokersax CM9 v 0.6.1. I don't have enough posts to post in that forum to see if it was related to that ROM or not, but I don't believe it was.
I'm guessing this is a hardware issues and may not be able to be fixed but I wanted to see if you guys had some ideas first.
Thanks!
what gives you the idea it may be a hardware issue? Have you tried cleaning out the headphone jack with say a can of air?
you can buy a new back cover / chassis housing / speaker / antennae / audio jack for cheap on ebay, and it replaces pretty easy, the actual audio jack cable to the motherboard is a bit more involved of a replacement but it can be done also, there are youtube guides on replacing digitizers and that process gets you all the way to the volume / audio jack / camera cable.
I had this same issue once. There was a very tiny piece of paper/pocket lint shoved into the bottom of the jack. Find the smallest tweezers you can or use a paperclip and some patience to remove it if you find anything.
Have you tried using different earphones?
Try switching to CM7, when I was on CM9 my earphones were glitchy also. They would randomly stop playing, sometimes every minute sometimes every 10 minutes.
If it doesn't work try doing what the guy above me said. Try his first, it seems the easiest haha

[Q] Issue with Audio Jack Working Only On Some Headphones

Hello Dear Xda,
I am having a very strange issue with the Audio Jack. When I got my phone I used samsung headphones and they seemed to have worked perfectly. Now when I tried using other headphones - i.e. the ones that work perfectly with my other devices, it simply wont register. I put the jack in, but nothing happens. the music keeps playing. I thought its only that headphone so I tried others, such as my Car's cassette adapter still the same issue arises.
Now I tried my mothers phone which is a Galaxy SL and it works perfectly with all the headphones that wont work for me. then I decided to squeez teh headphone a bit harder and turn it around in different directions and it started to work a bit, with terrible quality, but it worked. and if i hold it into a certain awkward position you could hear the sound almost flawlessly.
I have came to the conclusion that my jack might have a problem. But I am not aware how to fix the problem. Cause it works perfectly with some headphones, but it wont with others. Does this requires full change of the jack, or can it be fixed by readjusting it somehow?
inb4: I have restarted the phone several times, changed to factory setting and even changed rom to no avail, so this clearly is no software issue.
Thanks in advance
Replace jack. Should be YouTube videos around/Google search might reveal how to do it, but in all honesty, if you're not competent with microelectronics (like me), take it to someone who knows what they're doing (local mobile repair shop). Shouldn't be expensive to fix as the jack is a cheap part, main component of the fix will be labour.

[Q] GNote Loudspeaker

I have the Galaxy Note i717. I have replace the charging port flex cable which seems to be working just fine now. I however noticed that my sound does not work through my loudspeaker. not to sure of this. It is quite unique due to the fact that:
a.) When headphones are plugged in sound works fine through them
b.)when making a call with headphones in the vocals from the person on the other end are coming out of the loudspeaker.
c) without headphones it will play touch tones
d )no media will play
e) when overheated by a couple degrees phone seems to want to play through loudspeaker but not for long (incidental overheating i might add, laid on phone lol)
I have tried every thing that i can think of to fix this issue. i have blown through speaker i have checked all my flex cables and they are intact. I'm just not sure what to do with it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance.

[Q] Headphones not working anymore

I got my z2 last Tuesday and my headphones (Logitech UE 350) were working perfectly until I tried using them today. For some reason they aren't being recognized anymore and the music just keeps playing through the phones speakers.
I tried plugging them into my old iphone and they work fine. I also tried plugging in another pair (Shure SE215) into both phones and they work fine. Except on the z2 it makes a clicking sound whenever I change songs now.
Does anybody know any way to fix this? Or could it be a faulty headphone jack?
Could be a number of things mate. Firstly, check and see the headphones are not physically damaged and even make sure that the microhpones in the in-ear pieces aren't affected by water exposure. Next check the headphones out by moving the wire around while they're plugged in and see how the sound comes out and if the phone reacts to any movements. When I used my phone in water even after hours of drying the headphone jack still wasn't dry so even the slightest movement switched tracks etc. Alternatively, it could be a headphone jack fault in the sense that it may be shorting? Or the 3.5mm 5pin connector on the headphones itself is damaged. It could also simply be a software glitch. Go into "Sounds" in your settings and change what kind of accessory it detects the headphones as. Try "Other", it may solve your problems. Alternatively take it into a Sony store or a phone shop and see if there's anywhere with a similar headset which you could test out.

Strange issue with my headphones and HTC One M8

I have an HTC one M8 running stock 6.0 Marshmallow. I've been using these Amazon headphones for over a year with no issues. However as I was entering my house yesterday the music I was listening to all of the sudden stopped and whenever I plug the headphones in, any audio (call or music) plays through the phone's speakers.
I tried the headphones in my computer and they work fine. I also took another cheaper of headphones I have laying around to see if the headphone jack was the issue and I was able to get sound from the cheaper headphones.
I also tried rebooting the phone to see if it was some sort of software glitch. This whole thing is pretty strange. Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
