I have an HTC one M8 running stock 6.0 Marshmallow. I've been using these Amazon headphones for over a year with no issues. However as I was entering my house yesterday the music I was listening to all of the sudden stopped and whenever I plug the headphones in, any audio (call or music) plays through the phone's speakers.
I tried the headphones in my computer and they work fine. I also took another cheaper of headphones I have laying around to see if the headphone jack was the issue and I was able to get sound from the cheaper headphones.
I also tried rebooting the phone to see if it was some sort of software glitch. This whole thing is pretty strange. Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

hello,
i dropped my phone into water, have since dried it off and recovered all functions.
however, the headphone jack and inverse camera have stopped working, i don't really care about the camera, but i really need the headphone jack to work.
i did a factory reset on my phone and the jack worked for about a week, then stopped. i assumed it was a hardware issue and ordered a replacement part, which i then installed, but the phone still wont play any audio. once i plug earphones in i can hear music for about half a second, which then cuts off, no matter how much i jiggle the jack or play around with the parts. i can see that the phone recognises that there are earphones in the jack, but no sound whatsoever comes through the earphones, so i'm wondering if this could possibly be a software issue...
anyway, im stumped right now, so any help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance!
If you suspect that it's a software issue you could add information of what software you're using in the post. What version of android are you running, which audio player are you using etc.
So I have looked just about everywhere to see if anyone else has had this crazy issue and I can't seem to find anyone else who has.
The issue I am having is that when I plug in Beats headphones or portable speakers into the headphone jack, the audio is only output while I am on my home screen. If I open any other app, pull down the notification shade, or even let the phone sleep, audio no longer pushes through the headphones. It continues to be played but is not being output. Things get even more confusing when I put in Apple ear buds because the issue totally goes away. It only presents itself with headphones such as Beats or portable speakers.
I have had this issue on just about every KK AOSP rom I've ran (tried just about all of them) and using different kernels as well.
I have tried wiping everything and starting from scratch with a clean rom and the issue is still there. It's worth saying that the issue isn't on one single app such as Play Music or Spotify, but rather every app that outputs audio.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this I would be very grateful. I am really a fan of the stock look and fly quite frequently so noise cancelling headphones are much preferred over Apple's.
Thanks for any help given!

EDIT: I'm also on the Verizon Note II
I have the Galaxy Note i717. I have replace the charging port flex cable which seems to be working just fine now. I however noticed that my sound does not work through my loudspeaker. not to sure of this. It is quite unique due to the fact that:
a.) When headphones are plugged in sound works fine through them
b.)when making a call with headphones in the vocals from the person on the other end are coming out of the loudspeaker.
c) without headphones it will play touch tones
d )no media will play
e) when overheated by a couple degrees phone seems to want to play through loudspeaker but not for long (incidental overheating i might add, laid on phone lol)
I have tried every thing that i can think of to fix this issue. i have blown through speaker i have checked all my flex cables and they are intact. I'm just not sure what to do with it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance.
I've been searching here and in other forums about this issue that I'm having and I'm not sure if someone else is having the same issue.
I have 2 earphones, one is the one that came out of the box (HTC with black flat wires and red earplugs) and also bought an HTC urBeats headset (red round cable with heavy metal black earplugs).
Every after a call, there's a loud static cracking sound that happens and it's getting pretty annoying specially when you had the call in the highest volume.
Is there anyone experiencing this? Is it a unit issue, software issue... need help!
Yes!! So far as I can tell, it only happens with HTC wired headsets. In my case it started happening suddenly about 3 weeks ago, and I thought it was related to using an old car charger that had a faulty connection. I've had my M8 since it was released, and originally was just using a fairly cheap set of Sony miked headphones, and never noticed the (to me) painfully jarring screech noise upon disconnect until I used the HTC ones that came with the phone. No static with Jaybird Bluebudz Bluetooth headset. I don't know what is causing it for certain though.

I noticed that it does not happen with bluetooth connected devices. I have a Jlab Crasher and calls works well too.
Has anyone tried other earphones? I'm wondering if it's isolated to HTC earphones or wired earphones in general.
With mine, I just confirmed it happens on all wired headphones, not just the stock ones. Initially it was just on the OEM headphones. Another thing that happened on both the OEM and my basic mic'd Sonys is that it will disconnect the call I'm on. I hope I don't have a defective headphone jack. Really don't want to have to return this thing.
