I use Blackberry Connect....is there a way to tell if any of the new Roms have multiple data connections enabled...cooked in? Coming from the Tilt it was always hard to tell which Rom I could use along with Blackberry Connect. The stock rom does not allow for multiple data connections so I have to turn off BBConnect in order to use my slingbox...use Opera Mini or anything else that requires a connection other than the BBC tunnel.

The rom I am working on will have this available. Should see it by Sunday.
I think NATF also puts this in his roms but youd have to ask him.
I use my phone for 5 basic things: Talking, Texting, E-mails, some Browsing and WiFi and Bluetooth Tethering.
I am on Android 2.1 and rooted my device so I could get WiFi Tethering. All is fine but not enough. I also use an Archos 70 tablet, which won't accept Ad-Hoc communication and will only Tether through Bluetooth, which leads me to the fact that I will need to change the ROM.
I am very pleased with the Sense UI and the stock ROM, and would like to replace it with a ROM that would be similar but allow me to set up a wireless BT infrastructure network/ PAN with my Archos 70. Which is all I am actually missing/ need.
I have searched and read many, many posts, but none address in full my needs/ expectations. I see some ROMs that would seem to get close, but I also notice that some need patching, or not all is functional.
I just want a very close to Stock ROM with Sense UI but with Bluetooth Tethering through PAN.
Based on the above expectations and you user experince, I would sincerely appreciate your guidance and recomendation of which in your opinion would be the ROM to best address my needs.
Thank you very much in advance.
PS: Although I don't use it much, I would also like to preserve the capability to use my GPS. Thanks...
I'm not familiar with some of the acronyms you've used. What do you mean when you say "PAN"?
From what I can tell, it sounds like gene poole's liberated 2.2.2 rom is what you're looking for. He should be releasing a new version soon, I suggest waiting for it.
Hi ECEXCURSION,
Thanks for your reply. PAN stands for Personal Area Network which as I understand it is the profile which in BlueTooth allows for the type of connection I need.
I'll have a look at your suggestion.
Cheers,

To my knowledge, none of the Aria ROMs I have used have BT PAN profile as a service that is available. I am currently running CM 7.0.3 which is Gingerbread and it does not have BT PAN and I believe the the HTC Sense ROMs didn't have them either. Since most of the Aria ROMs have had a Wifi hotspot capability, that has been the preferred choice for sharing the Aria's Internet connection with devices. BT would be slower.
You should install one of the Froyo (Android 2.2) Sense ROMs. They will retain virtually an identical look to the Aria's stock ROM, but will allow you to use the built-in wifi hotspot support that Android added in Froyo (i.e., not a third party app). Android's implementation can create a true wifi hotspot (not ad-hoc), which should work with your ARCHOS tablet.
Your best choice is probably FR008 or Liberated 2.2.2 -- the latter is a newer version of Android but unfortunately has the AT&T notification message that is very annoying.
Hi Drumist,
Thank you for taking the time to respond. Much appreciated. It looks like I will incline myself for the Liberated 2.2.2. which I believe is about to receive an update so as not to have to patch the same.
However I would like to ask what is referred to by the "AT&T notification mesage"? I've seen this comment in other posts, but can't relate to it. Could be because I am on an Argenine network?
Thanks again,

Yeah, actually now that you mention it, someone else who used Liberated 2.2.2 on a different network said they didn't get that message either. I guess they designed it to only show up for people on the AT&T network. So I guess that is good news for you -- that's really the only major issue with the ROM that I'm aware of.
Sounds great! Thanks again!
Although I appreciate people helping each other, threads like these in the development section are not what development is for. Try General.

No idea if this is in the right section of the forum, but here's my question:
I'm looking for a smart wireless management app for Android 2.2.2
Main function I'm looking for is the ability to let it automatically switch between WiFi and 3G as soon as signal drops below an exact specified value. Right now I have a fairly fast #G connection on Vodafone NL, but when I'm home I switch to Wifi to save cost. At some spots in my house the 3G connection is way faster then my Wifi signal, so I want it to atomatically choose the fastest connection. Anyone knows about an app that can do this?
And if there is no app like that out there, anyone willing to take a shot at developing one
Many thanx, DM

Uhhm... thx for the link, but not really what I'm looking for. It sounds very complicated to install, and even more complicated to tweak. Isn't there any simple app out there that chooses the connection with best send/receive qualities?
Admin, please close thread, posted it somewhere else.
Hi folks, I hope someone can offer some words of advice.
I would like to be able to share my ethernet internet connection on my android 2.2 tablet via wifi.
I know there are various app's on phones that allow you to share your 3g connection but I have not found anything that I can actually install that will create the same sort of functionality on my tablet, most of the ones I've seen on the play store are simple short cuts giving control over the pre-existing wifi hotspot app.
What I need is the wifi hotspot itself, ie the ability to use my tablet as a router/bridge.
So any thoughts people?
Bump
Really, no comments at all, nobody?
Someone must have thought of this before me, if not does anyone know where I can find an actual wifi hotspot app not just a set of controls for the pre-installed hotspot?
Thanks
Jon
If you're talking about what I think you are, I've yet to find a way to broadcast your ethernet connection with your Wi-Fi Hotspot like a router. If there's a way to do it I'd be interested, but somehow I don't think there's a way to do it!
Beginning to think your right Wolfy. To be honest not that surprised there is no ready made to ethernet to wifi app but I thought I'd be able to find a traditional wifi hotspot that I can install on my tablet just for the sake of having a go & seeing if it works.
Amazed that there haven't been any other responses! Where are the regulars?
We do not have broadband available where we live. I have a Verizon Unlimited data plan, and 4G LTE recently came to our area. I want to use my Rezound strictly for internet. It will be plugged into a Linux computer, which will be serving the internet out to the WAN port of my router.
I need a stable rom that has Native USB tethering enabled for this to work well. I don't care what android version it is or what features it has. All I need is for it to be extremely stable, fast, and native USB tethering enabled.
I am having a hard time finding it in the descriptions whether or not roms have USB tethering enabled. It would take a long time to test them all... Does anyone have some good suggestions on which rom/roms I should try?
I do not want to mess around with an app that needs to be running, because in my tests this slows down the network and causes other issues. If an app is required to be running, it won't automatically reconnect at times, etc. This is a headless computer, so I am going to configure it once and from then on it will just run. (At least in a perfect world it would)
Newts one xxx Rom over at the mikmik forums works great for that just use pdanet. Or you can use neo's infection and use native USB tether.
Waiting on that jellybean super stoked!
It's enabled in CM10.1
