Hello,
My XMP is running on stock ICS 4.0.4 with stock kernel. I followed this thread to enable init.d scripts. So hopefully init.d scripts is enabled in my device how to use init.d scripts? do the init.d scripts that run on GB run on ICS too? Which init.d scripts can I use in my XMP?
Thanks in advance

As my Mini hasn't received ICS yet, I can't confirm, but as u said that u enabled init.d scripts I think u can run any script u want. ICS uses the same kernel so it shouldn't be a problem i guess. Try Supercharger and Kickass Kernelizer

Installing supercharger for ICS seems too complicated to me. Plus itseems I've to de-odex or the process becomes even more complicated. I had read somewhere that after de-odexing I will not be able to theme to my device So I'm not ready to do that
How exactly do I need to use the scripts? Just Place it in /system/etc/init.d and run it in script manager with run as root and run on boot enabled?

Try this tutorial for installing Supercharger and KickAssKernelizer- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568792
It also has links for other init.d scripts
That tut is for GB.. v6 supercharger's original thread has a separate tut for ICS..

You do not need to enable init.d scripts when using supercharger, on ICS or on GB (I used it on stock GB and now using it on stock ICS). What you need to do is go to /data/99SuperCharger.sh -> load up on boot -> run as root. For ICS, you also do not need to the complicated part e.g. the one where you need to patch the services.jar BUT you only get 50% effect of the supercharger. I didn't do it myself but if we have a deodexed one, it will be a one-click process to do by using that webapp he mentioned.

Alright. But is it true that deodexed ROMs can't be themed?
this is not mine, someone else has thought to do this mini-guide, so if there is helpful before putting a thanks to me put it to him.

There is a kernel for xperia active that supports this?
I think mesa and panik kernel support these functions, correct me if I'm wrong
but still not able to run the swap ... I can run swapper only in fat32
Also rage has swap but need to put the script for it in init.d, but tbh there really is no point in using swap...
I need a solution because I love the MIUI rom but after some time of use is heavy and slows
hi guys!
i have got a question.
how do i install the stock kernel on my samsung galaxy 5?
i donĀ“t like the custom one.
and please make a detailed instruction.
thanks to you

Just flash a stock rom..

A rom is the combination of a kernel, middleware and system apps and included stuff. A kernel alone is the main part of any OS. It essentially manages the hardware, multitasking, drivers, memory management everything technical really is managed by the kernel. People often mistake linux as an operating system when in fact it is a kernel. it takes other things on top of the linux kernel to make an os, like for example Ubuntu or Android. You may want a custom kernel to keep the apps and features of your rom but improve cpu usage or memory management or to add features like overclocking.
That pretty much this. Will a custom rom make my phone faster/smoothe.
I've always loved performance but I'm not sure if i should take the risk .
What do you guys think? Tell me your experiences.
some tricks can make your phone speeder. For example cpu governor, that can be used when you rooted your phone. Other things like init.d scripts that are enabled with kernels also speed up some performances (internet, smoothness).
You also have chainfire 3d that allows you to run games you cam't run before.
So in my opinion, as we don't have cyanogenmod actually, a custom rom will not boost you're performance a lot. But rooting, changing kernel and other stuff like that can help to have a speeder phone (but the more interesting thing of a custom rom is the theme)
That's all for me
Hit thanks !

Yes, all scripts are based in a file called init.d launched at each start of your phone, but this file is not activated basically so you need to get a new kernel. but you also have some apk (search on xda) that enable init.d with stock kernel if you don't want to change kernel

I don't think removing scripts is needed
(and i've always used rafael's one because when i started on xda, it was the only available kernel for ace i )
Ps : use e3 recovery version, cwm is for ext4 system partitioning

I'm not an expert to say you if this script is efficient or not, but you also have supercharger v6 that seems more complete and customisable to me, and the one i'm using actually is a compilation made by iamareebjamal, that you can find here

Yes changement or not like having a s3, but these tweaks boost a little bit your phone, you should have try to use antutu benchmark before and after to have an idea of the impact, i didn't tell you...
But now you can search for other way to speed up your phone yourself also or check other scripts, trying is the best way to get what you want

I am using Xperia Mini Pro SK17i rooted and bootloader unlocked working with stock kernel & stock ROM ICS .587... I have read some topics and threads but I am still a noob and I want to know some specific answers for the below questions if you can help me guys and I am sure that it is not only me who needs to know these answers..
1- What are the system apps on Xperia Mini Pro SK17i ICS .587 which can be safely uninstalled without affecting negatively on the device? "Please don't provide me with Arc S apps as they are not the same"
2- Can I install CWM through X-Parts app after I unlocked my bootloader or not? If it can't be so how can I install CWM on my unlocked bootloader device?
3- After installing CWM, I want to take a backup from my current ROM on my SD card.. Will the backup be for the ROM only or the ROM and the kernel? And how much space will I need on the SD for this backup or it depends on what?
4- If the backup will be for the ROM only so how can I take a backup for the stock kernel or how can I get it?
5- After I will take the backup through CWM, I want to install a custom kernel to be working on the stock ROM in order to make overclocking for my CPU but I don't have a PC to do it through flashtool, so Can I do it through CWM? If yes so please tell me how?
6- I will very much appreciate your support to suggest me some kernels can work with my stock ROM and supports overclocking and increase total RAM if it is possible as I searched about kernels but I found that most of them support CM9 & CM10 & Some other custom ROMs.. I am looking for some kernels like the stock kernel to be working on the stock ROM and provide me with all device features but can support overclocking and increase RAM if it is possible as the stock kernel doesn't support this. "I am not asking about best kernel, I just want to know which kernels can support the overclocking and increase RAM and at the same time working on the stock ROM"
7- I have 2 partitions on my SD card 16 GBs (KingStone Class 2) "EXT2 & FAT32".. How can I add swap file "RAM" to the EXT2 partition? And will it affect on my SD card negatively or make its life time shorter or not? And what about zRAM on EXT2 partition, is it available or no? If yes so please tell me how to do it.
8- Anyone found any market enabler app for Play store after it is updated to version 4.0.27? If yes so please provide me with the app name or link and I will very much appreciate it.
9- If I am a hard gamer so should I activate Force GPU Rendering & Don't keep activities from "Settings > Developer Options" or not? What they really do? Or if you have any suggestions for gamers on SK17i please tell me about it and I will test any then feed you back.
10- If I want to make a guide for the newbies "Noobs" to share them my experience and to make it easy for them, shall I post it in general or development? And should I refer back to someone before I post the guide "Keeping in mind that I will mention the people who helped me out with their posts or threads and I will add their links"? If yes so please tell me who?
I am so sorry for all these questions but I believe in you guys and I will very much appreciate your usual support.

1. I use arc s one and disregard the apps not present. Don't know if it is available for us
2. Yes u can use xparts but after unlocking its easier to just f'ash a custom kernel as they have recovery
3.only rom, we can't flash kernel via cwm yet. Size depends on rom. Stock is the highest.
4. Don't know about taking backup of kernel but u can get the stock kernel ftf file. Besides what's there to backup in a kernel?ie what's the diff btw new kernel and backed up one?
5 flashing on the go is not supported yet
6. Don't know. Try urself
7,8 don't know
9. Try asking in the gaming thread in general.
10. In general. Never in development. Dev is only for ORIGINAL roms, kernels etc. Don't think u need to ask anyone, if anyone helps, just add credit.

1. Here are all the system apps present in .587 which you can remove :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048279
2. Don't install CWM from x-parts. It doesn't work properly sometimes! Use this :- http://theunlockr.com/2012/06/07/how-to-install-clockworkmod-recovery-on-xperia-mini-and-mini-pro/
3. The backup is always for the ROM. You cannot backup the kernel. The size varies on the ROM it can go from 600MB to 5GB. So you better have a 16GB memory card for backups and some of your games/music!
4. As stated, there is no backup for stock kernel! You can flash the ftf of the kernel.
5. Not possible!
6. Most of the kernels support overclocking upto 2GHz. But now devs are making maximum overclocking possible upto 1.6GHz as higher the overclocking, higher risk of device being bricked and s***! Also, all android versions have different kernels. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2148684
7. No idea. Sorry
8. No. There is no market enabler for play store version 4.0.27.
9. If you're a gamer and play HD games on your device, i'll recommend to flash stock GB as it is by far the smoothest ROM in terms of Gaming! Also, you can try CM9/CM10/CM10.1 but they need overclock! And about GPU rendering :- http://pocketnow.com/2012/05/25/what-is-force-gpu-rendering-in-ice-cream-sandwich
