[Q] Need help on a relatively simple problem - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi guys,
I posted a question similar to this before, but did not get much reply.
I have a chinese Razr, and I would like to install an English stock 4.1.2 onto it. This is mostly because for some reason gapps do not work and I really do want gapps.
I have not flashed phones for two years so I have no idea what everything is. And it seemed like all these requires root. Which is my other problem: I cannot install root on this phone no matter what I try. Someone suggested to me that this was because someone had rooted this phone before in an unconventional way and this locked the phone for any future roots. And when I had updated to 4.0.4 I had lost the root and cannot regain it. I must have tried 20 different methods to root this phone already so I'm pretty sure this is hopeless until I flash a different rom.
In any case, my android version is 4.1.2 and system version is 672.300.384.XT910ChinaRetail.en.CN
And I would like to flash a stock 4.1.2 on it.

Check in the dev forum, you'll find links to the correct gapps for your
version.

This is the gapps you need : http://www.4shared.com/get/HDGIsCws/update_gms_jb_spyder_r4.html
This is the china 4.12 root tool : http://dl.projectlense.com/download.php?file=spyder/razr_legacy_jbroot_034.zip
This is bmm apk : http://dl.projectlense.com/download.php?file=bmm/com.projectlense.bootmenu.getinfo.apk
What you need to do is simple, root your phone using the legacy jbroot by whirleyes, install the bootmenu manager apk file. Reboot into bootmenu recovery and flash the Gapps R4 package.
Dont thank me !

P500 Craziness...

So I'm sorry if I shouldn't be creating a new thread for this. It's a pretty unique situation and I couldn't find it anywhere.
I had upgraded my P500 to official 2.3.3. I then decided "hey, I should try out some custom roms because this sucks...". I rooted with SuperOneClick, managed to install Clockworkmod recovery and the set out to find a nice new rom. I soon discovered that there weren't really any exciting ones that piqued my interest because of the new baseband. The baseband thing is also confusing the heck out of me. Anyways, I managed to KDZ Updater back to my stock firmware because I figured I might as well do something good out of this. So now I'm on 2.2.1, specifically LG v10v. This is a Koodo phone if that helps at all. Also, I'm pretty sure CWM is now wiped and super user access is gone too. Spent a good amount of time putting everything back on the silly thing yesterday lol.
First question: Am I now on new baseband or old baseband (having flashed with
KDZ)?
2nd: I keep seeing references to baseband 10 or 20 followed by a letter. Am I on baseband 10v? If I want to use a custom rom, do I need to change it to 10 a,b or c or something like that.
3rd: Seems like mixed reviews on this one all over the place. Can Rom Manager be successfully used on the P500 to install CWM or does it brick it?
Any other info you can think of would be terribly helpful. Please go easy on me! I'm not sure if I made a mistake by creating this post or not...
You can use RomManager to flash cwm, in the past you could softbrick your phone, but this issue is already solved.
With froyo you are on old baseband, so you can use almost any custom rom for old baseband. No need to flash any baseband for these roms.

Hello Crispus222 !
If you are on stock 2.2.1 V10v flashed by KDZ, you have the old baseband.
So if you wanna try custom ROMs you should search those who support the old BB.
But don't forget that you can change baseband without flash stock ROM via KDZ.
ROM Manager flash cwm recovery without problems on rooted phone, I have done this many times
1) Old baseband. If you've used a full stock 2.2.1 or lower rom, than you're on the old baeband now.
2) I'm on the old baseband and mine is 10v. So I'm assuming you're now on the old baseband! Congratulations!
3) Yes. ROM Manager CAN be used on the LG Optimus one whether you have the old or new basebands. Just install ROM manager, choose flash ClockworkMOD and then scroll down to "LGE Optimus One" and hit flash. After that, boot into recovery and you're done!
enjoy all goodies .
u r on old baseband after kdz flash.
now root using z4root . (file sharing sites remember!)
install rom manager from market and install cwm recovery n yeah it works without a glitch but its ur luck too.
reboot into recovery n there u go !

You are and have always been on OLD baseband as you have to flash the new one in a seprate step.roms don't come with any baseband included.10v\or\10s don't matter as that is OLD baseband.20g\or\20a is new baseband.Rom manager can Install CWM recovery on any p-500 sccuessfully.I would ROOT 1st before installing. The brick comes from flashing a corrupt (over the air) downloaded rom & flashing that.TWRP 1.1.1.1.XL is my choice for recovery but CWM is fine. The LGDMP tool is also my choice for flashing baseband & rescue my phone when things go wrong.ROMs run on either old baseband or new but the newer ones run both (but download the link you are going to run)choice.Hope this helps !
Thanks so much everyone! I appreciate the help a lot.

Razr V (XT885) CM10.1 porting

Hi, I've recently finished the porting of CM10.1 for XT885. A v1.1 has been roll out days ago.
The code was based on the branch for XT910, with modification for XT885.
All functions have been validated to be working up to now. Maybe some minor bugs there, i'm no so sure.
This is my first post, so, i don't have the right to post external link. Please remove all " from the following links and replace all "," with "."
The page for ROM publish is here: (sorry, it's in Chinese, i will translate the most important part later)
"http":"//"gopise,blog,163,com/blog/static/102664522201371053354366/
Download URL for v1.1
"http":"//"pan,baidu,com/share/link?shareid=3637467016&uk=587386395
How to flash it:
1. Make sure you're currently using the official 4.1.2. e.g. "fastboot-p0a_yangtze-umts_yangtze-user-4.1.2-6.7.2_GC-404-303-release-keys-ChinaRetail-CN_chn.tar.gz" in China market.
2. Make sure the device is rooted.
3. Install "BMM-v0.3.4.apk".
I've upload one to the net drive here:
"http":"//"pan,baidu,com/share/link?shareid=1896218284&uk=587386395
4. Install the boot menu by using BMM. You can google for some guide on this. Make sure you can boot into stock ROM after this.
5. Copy the ROM (cm-10.1-20130810-GOPISE-v1.1-umts_yangtze.zip) to the SDCARD.
6. Boot into BMM and jump to "Recovery".
7. Flash the ZIP in BMM.
8. Wipe the /userdata and /cache and reboot.
9. Enjoy!
Known issues:
1. USB seems not so stable.
The source code has also been published on GitHub. You can also find details from my blog: (both Chinese and English this time...)

Great ! Finally !!!
Trying this right now and I'll post my comments !
Update : tried anyway with the AU Release and it reboot in BMM at Booting ...
Will try with the China Firmware
update2 - seems like I can't flash the China Firmware due to the fact that I cannot downgrade from the AU & OTA Update to a lower firmware ...
Anybody got an Idea ?

Did you find any solution? I did the same thing, installed it over AU and cant flash the China firmware. Able to find a fix?
cdma_yangtze compatibility
What if I will flash this on my Motorola Electrify 2 (cdma_yangtze) (4.1.2) ?
Will it work ? And will it be possible to roll back my BMM backup in case of boot problem ?
Hmm, after months of having this it seems like something promising finally started... but it also seems like it's died down. Is there any news on this rom whatsoever? Kinda sad to see something like this just drift away... (Google Translate is a fail at translating the chinese site)

As for that I think it might mess up the radios since you have CDMA Phone while the rest of the world with XT885 has GSM Radios in the phone.
I agree. This thread ignited hope in me that is once again fading. Has anyone successfully installed this ROM that can explain how they went about it? (I'm on latest AU firmware)
Didn't work for me. Totally messed up my phone. Mostly my fault though. I installed it on slot one without a nandroid backup.
Please can you give us the firmware? The chinese 4.1.2 for Razr v xt885
Choose one which suits you:

Start to finish

I was told to redirect my question here. My original post is :
Hi, my name is Anthony and I have a T-Mobile S5 running the latest version of android (I think it's 5.0.1 or 5.0). I'm kinda a newb with flashing and rooting. I had my phone rooted using towel root a while ago, but I lost that root in an update and it is no longer supportive of my phone.
I'm looking to install custom roms but before I do so, I would like to make a full backup of my current stock touch wiz so I can revert to it in case I don't like the new rom. I also would like to root my phone. Oh, and before anyone tells me that I need to install Odin, I have a Mac running Yosemite.... A lot of people have told me that I need to install clock work in order for this whole process to work.
Recap advice/how to:
1. Make backup rom
2. Root phone
3. Teach me how to flash roms using a Mac.
4. Include any other important info and links for downloads.
I mainly want to install CM12, but I still want a backup rom to revert to later
Thanks, and please don't post any hate

There is well written instructions on the web already. Maybe I could find a link for you.
That would be great. I've tried a couple with no success
Just use a windows pc... borrow one its 5 minutes to root.
Use odin.
You can downgrade to kit Kat also if u want u don't have to stay on 5.0
there are not many 5.0 roms or even customization for lollipop ,you will discover that fast.

Rooting Help Please 5.1.1

Hi Ya'll and Happy New Year,
I need some help in rooting my Z C833. Before I tell you my ordeal here is the system details:
OS 5.1.1
Build 14.6.A.1.236
Bootloader: Unlocked via sony
Now i am not a advanced user when it comes to android stuff, I am still learning. All the talks and guides about rolling back and going to kitkat and flashing and recovering TA partion is kinda making me confused. I have seen many guides, i tried to roll back via flashtools, use king root to acheive root, install dual recovery then flash super user. This is the extent of my knowledge.
When i try to either ftf a pre rooted file to a 5.0.x fw i LOSE ROOT, every single time. Can someone help me out. What am i doing wrong?
For example I roll backed to (C6833_14.5.A.0.270_Customized_HK) installed King root, pushed (ZU-lockeddualrecovery2.8.23-RELEASE.combined) flashed (BETA-SuperSU-v2.49) and then went back to flashtools to ftf (C6833_14.6.A.0.368_Generic Telenor Norway) and i LOSE ROOT (ahhhhhhhhh):silly:
If there is no option for me to update to stock rooted rom, can i install a custom rom with a update fw?
Ideally, stock or custom, i just want to utilize the sound and screen mods on this forum for the z ultra, for that i need custom recovery, for that i need root :S
I know the answer might be very simple, but like i said i m out of ideas.................
Thanks in advance for your help.
anyone???
Flash kitkat ftf, root, flash pre rooted 5.1.1
Did you read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z-ultra/development/ub-14-6-1-236-stock-ftf-root-t3270850
Thank you very much pckoloji and RealityFails for your input.
I was able to fix it with the link provided : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xper...-root-t3270850
Thank you once again.
