[Q] Need help on flashing stock - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi guys,
I posted a question similar to this before, but did not get much reply.
I have a chinese Razr, and I would like to install an English stock 4.1.2 onto it. This is mostly because for some reason gapps do not work and I really do want gapps.
I have not flashed phones for two years so I have no idea what everything is. And it seemed like all these requires root. Which is my other problem: I cannot install root on this phone no matter what I try. Someone suggested to me that this was because someone had rooted this phone before in an unconventional way and this locked the phone for any future roots. And when I had updated to 4.0.4 I had lost the root and cannot regain it. I must have tried 20 different methods to root this phone already so I'm pretty sure this is hopeless until I flash a different rom.
In any case, my android version is 4.1.2 and system version is 672.300.384.XT910ChinaRetail.en.CN
And I would like to flash a stock 4.1.2 on it.

i9100p Orange Galaxy S2 - my brain is bricked (phone is fine)

Hi, I have the orange i9100p - and rooted using the rachmat3 method
I could really do with a few pointers- Especially from people with the same phone version and root method
I've flashed ROMs before on other phones (desire, desire HD Touch Diamond) but the whole thing seems bewildering on this phone, I've spent days reading and still dont really know whats going on and whats the best way to proceed
So my phone is as stock, still with the Orange ROM updated to ICS, I assume it has stock kernels, but it is rooted etc
I was hoping to flash another ROM, maybe without the Orange stuff, and perhaps one that can use JKAY or something as everyone seems to think thats great and mine dosent seem to be supported. Also maybe deodexed if thats worth doing. I dont like the stock unlock screen, and also tried the s3 launcher and it didnt work on this current ROM - so I want to switch to something that will allow me to do these things.
The only trouble is I have no idea what do. Nothing ever seems to be the obvious way forward
These are some of the questions I keep coming up against -
Should I be able to do these things on my current ROM -
If I change ROMS will I loose NFC (should I care?)
Do I need to keep the same kernel to avoid brickbug risk, and to keep things simple, and if so how do I do that, they all seem to come with Kernel with Chainfire installed which I dont need right? (delete zimage out of the zip file?)
Should I flash with the temporary CWM, or use odin (I haven't used odin yet - can I use it with only the temporary CWM)
Are there any obvious ROMs that would be easy for me to get the above from
Here are some details -
model - gt i9100p
Android version 4.0.3
Baseband version i9100pbvlp7
kernel version [email protected]#3
build number IML74K.BVLP8
Anyone with this phone model in particular, or if you used Rachmat3's method - I'd love to hear what you've done
Free bump for an interesting title.
I'm in a similar situation to the original poster. Got the I9100P UK Orange phone and wanting to flash new firmware but a bit daunted by the information and options out there. I've flashed the old Samsung i8910 and that was pretty painless. The S2 seems a lot more complicated and with more potential problems!
If you can afford the risk, all you need to do is take the leap of faith. Rom and kernel are mostly "safe" to flash (except stock 4.0.4), if incompatible will result in soft brick the phone, where you only have to get it back to download mode and flash back a working one.
Yes, i think you will lose NFC...
It is daunting but dont just be like most of the noobs on here and proceed without doing any research first.
They dont even have the decency to read about basics like
What is cwm
How do I root
What is Odin

So, I have one galaxy s2 i9100p (O2). I come from a stock gb, rooted and flashed a new custom rom using the recovery mode, full wipe and every other things... I lost the nfc function and never found a method to bring this back but every other things are working fine, very fast and stable on 4.0.3 version with siyah kernel... i think you don't will have problems too but you will lose the nfc. it's your choise BTW, I have the stock ics rom with NFC (o2), I don't know but if you need, send me a PM, just flash the .tar file with odin and everything will work again (NFC), like factory new one (sorry my english :/)

Hi there,
I have the same phone model with the same kernel, radio and stock rom.
Did you manage to upgrade firmware to JB (which kernel and rom did you use) and keep NFC??

[Q] Question regarding stock roms / flashing

Hello,
Long time reader here. I finally made an account recently because I finally wanted to Root my phone and mess around with Cyanogenmod.
My question is this: I have an unlocked, unbranded Samsung GT-i9300 that I purchased from Newegg back in the summer time and I have still yet to receive any sort of update (still on 4.0.4). Can someone explain to me the whole stock updates scenario? I would have thought buying an unlocked, unbranded phone I would have at least gotten updates faster than the Verizon S3. Now.. I know I can flash Cyanogenmod and be done with it. Which I have which leads me to the last question. What happens if I flash my phone with the 4.1.2 stock rom that was just released in Poland recently? Will it work? Why wouldn't it? Does the baseband really matter as far as compatibility? (PDA? CSC?)
Thank you for your time.
I answered my own questions. Thanks for looking
I was so excited I forgot to elaborate a little.
I was successfully able to root my phone using cf root / odin, install clockworkmod recovery, install cyanogenmod 10 then re-flash back to stock using triangleaway, and a stock rom from samsung firmware using odin.
I had thought I bricked my phone when it was in an endless loop on the splash screen but I was able to get into android recovery mod and do a format/wipe/clean cache. *phew*

Check in the dev forum, you'll find links to the correct gapps for your
version.

This is the gapps you need : http://www.4shared.com/get/HDGIsCws/update_gms_jb_spyder_r4.html
This is the china 4.12 root tool : http://dl.projectlense.com/download.php?file=spyder/razr_legacy_jbroot_034.zip
This is bmm apk : http://dl.projectlense.com/download.php?file=bmm/com.projectlense.bootmenu.getinfo.apk
What you need to do is simple, root your phone using the legacy jbroot by whirleyes, install the bootmenu manager apk file. Reboot into bootmenu recovery and flash the Gapps R4 package.
Dont thank me !

[Q] Trying to go from 4.0.3 (rooted) to something stable and JellyBean

To start my TF-201 is only rooted. I have kept it on stock ICS 4.0.3 for a long time and now want to flash something more current. All I ever did was root it with Sparky many months ago and nothing else. Since these early days many things have changed in the development area for the Prime and I feel I should bring it up to speed. My problem is there is a lot of different instructions for unlocking and rooting for people that have updated to JB and I don't know if any of these things still apply to my current ICS rom.
Do I have to unlock first or can I just download rom manager from the market and flash a recovery without unlocking? When i go to the Asus site, I don't even see a link to download the unlock tool anymore. I would like to just flash the latest stable CM rom but don't want to mess things up because I accidentally followed misinformation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] Help rooting and installing rom Huawei y300

Hello there, how are you?
My problem is, I received an Y300 as a gift, haven't yet received it but I want to prepare the necessary things to root it and install custom roms on it. No, this isn't the first phone I install a custom rom to, as I have already played with an Optimus L5 of a friend. Could you please answer this questions?
a) How do I root the phone and install CWM or other recovery? I have found many tutorials but they are confusing, and require waiting for 2-3 days for the code to unlock the bootloader. In case you need to know, it probably is the normal Y300, the international one, so no Asian Model
b) How many ROMS are there for this phone? I like Cyanogenmod and stock roms the most, I can barely stand the stock rom in the phone, so I would like to install a new ROM on it ASAP.
c) By flashing the new ROM, do I lose IMEI or something like that (EFS Folder in Samsung phones)? If so, how can I back it up?
Thanks for your help

Here is a GUIDE to unlock the bootloader and root your phone
Thanks, LS.xD
This was all I needed, I've found a CM11 Rom in the Modaco forums, hope it works well. Just got to wait until I get the phone
Okay, so I downloaded the latest nighly of the ROM, but it appears that CM11 is not very stable and has many problems with SystemUI (statusbar) and other things. Aren't there any ROMS for the Y300 on XDA? Also, will I lose my network connectivity if I do the wipes (data, cache, dalvik cache)?
Again, thanks for all your help, I appreciate it
EDIT: Found CM10.1 here in XDA but it redirected me to Modaco, however it is quite stable, downloading now. So which wipes do I have to do, in order to get everything smooth? Also, as I said will I lose my network connectivity or IMEI if I do these wipes, or I can do this without worrying
