Alright, so I know this is probably a thread already but each one I've seen is so unclear. I need to carrier unlock my phone, for free so I can change from rogers or bell. There has to be an easy way to go about this. Rooted, liquid smooth jb with flapjaxx kernel. Hopefully someone can shed some light on an easy method. I'd like to change my phone over this weekend so I can have service at work Tuesday. Thanks for the help!

is the bootload unlockable on a stock ota 4.5.9.1 atnt atrix? i am unclear from what i've read. i just want to unlock and start going to roms. is that possible or the 4.5.9.1 is stuck? the reason i ask is i want to start learning how to tweak stuff for myself and maybe others, and if goes well, i move on to bigger things, so this is my dev phone, if you will. i can't have a "beta" phone. i need reliability so another phone is called for.
Yes it is, I unlocked it with the with the automatic bootloader unlocker in the ATRIX 4g general thread by mramirezusa. Give that a look. Its not that complicated either to root with the tool too. If you FOLLOW directions, you wont brick your phone.

Hey guys title says it all..I have an unlocked att gs2..can I keep the phone unlocked even after flashing to official ics?

I'm not speaking from first hand experience, since I am on AT&T and don't need to unlock. But my understanding is that once unlocked, flashing firmware does not affect the unlock.
Thanks bud..input greatly appreciated

If you're still looking for an answer, I can verify that it's a yes. I've done this before, phone still works on T-mobile
if any (currently on paranoidandroid and loving it) and after hearing T-Mobile is getting trully unlimited again wanted to see if I could just take my att one over there somo unlimited data sweetness
or am I going to have to downgrade back to ICS(if so what ROM do you recommend)

Not sure if this will help you, as I dont use JB, and i'm not sure if you are carrier unlocked or not. but in order to do so, you will need to be loaded with a stock rom, in order to use the unlock code you are given.
you may already know, and have done this, but you'll need to be on the rom your phone came with, if possible...
hope this helps...g
Use any modem you like. Roms and modems are independent. Don't get too excited or upset once you flash your rom/modem. It seems to take a few reboots and a few hours to settle in.
cool...dint know i had to be in stock to use an unlocked code thought

If its not stock, the box to enter the code never appears
but once unlock it doesn't matter if I flash the device will stay unlocked right?

unlock is permanent.
hi guys,
I have a i717 from bell Canada. Im looking to flash the radio and make it work on Mobilicity/Wind.
please someone give advice where to start.
also is it possible to flash it without rooting the phone?
Check your grammar. I'm not sure what you want.
Is it unlocked?
You will need to root to change the radio though.
The radio might affect data speeds and such, but you only need to make sure you can access your service providers frequencies to work. If not, the phone will be rendered useless on that network.

Search and Google are your friends as well! Good luck

You don't need to root to change the modem. Just use Odin3 v 1.85 on your PC and flash a T-Mobile compatible modem. But, like ^^^^^ said, you will need to unlock the phone to run on that network.
^^
Didn't know that Haha. Guess there is more than one way to get things done!

Well, ^^^^^, the OP should root, but when I give advice, I keep the steps to the bare minimum needed to get the problem solved. I trained infantry soldiers and taught high school math!
^^ Agreed.

Is there an easy way to unlock this phone without a root?
No you have to be rooted. Root your phone with update.zip A and download an app called Galaxy S unlock to unlock your phone. Here is the link for the unlock app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.helroz.galaxysunlock

Try getting unlock codes from your carrier?
Worth a shot.
Rooting is usually a much less annoying route though. Getting codes from carriers can be like pulling teeth depending on the rep you get.

This is probably a dumb question but if you are running an AOSP rom do you still need to unlock it? Or can you pop a different sim in there. Sorry for my novice.
