[Q] Help on rooting Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

I decided to root it to remove the bloatware. I flashed the rooted rom using Odin and it took two minutes to full up the blue bar. After staying on downloading for 5 minutes my foot tripped and plugged out the usb and I immediately put it back in the device. Now it's on Downloading for 45+ minutes. What should I do? Sorry I'm new to this

Close Odin, unplug your device forcibly reboot it back into download mode (if it shows a weird logo that is fine), and try again. This is safe as long as you do not select the repartition box.

Please Help

I was trying to install the stock rom via rom manager and once I got past the galaxy logo after the reboot from recovery when it was applying the update Im stuck with a black screen and the 4 bottons just stay lit up. I tried to flash the stock rom via odin from this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnY7P14JSWQ but when I put in my device I dont think odin recogonizes the device. The ID:COM box stays empty and when I press start it just says threads complete ( succeeded: 0 / failed:0 ) can anyone please help with how to resolve this issue.
Are the proper Samsung drivers installed? You have to get your phone into download mode, if Odin doesn't detect your phone.. unplug the cable and replug it. Does it detect it there?
I googled samsung usb drivers and downloaded it forget the website and I tried to unplug and plug back in but nothing.
It should be this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929&highlight=Samsung
installing
first get your phone into download mode. Is adb working? if so power on phone and open adb and type:
adb shell
su
reboot download
once in download mode unhook phone from laptop and
1. Open Odin and set PIT & PDA
2. attach phone back to laptop/pc
3. you should then be able to enter a com port
4. hit start and reflash
I never downloaded adb is it too late for my situation?

You don't need ADB to use Odin. You need to get INTO download mode as I mentioned in my previous post.
Download mode appears a yellow android digging on your screen.
I am in download mode and the box in odin ID:COM is still empty multiple tries and nothing

Then you need to uninstall the drivers you installed to the ones I've linked. The ones I link are the ones that 100.00% works, it works fine for me. Download respective to your OS x86 or x64. Then restart.
FINALLY odin sees it

Did you reinstall the drivers with the ones I linked or did something spectacular happen?
I guess I clicked the wrong download link but it was from the one you linked but right now its at cache.rfs for the past 2 minutes it that normal or is something wrong

Be patient for a little while. Mines only took <1 minute though. What I changed was that.. I would open Odin and pre-set all the files that I'm going to use in Odin and THEN i plugged in my phone then once it was detected by Odin I would just press start.
If i didn't do that, it would be stuck and I'd panic but I pulled out the battery and rewent into download mode. There should be a progress bar that comes up on your phone when it starts. Screen shouldn't turn black.
its still at cache.rfs and nothing changed on my phone still shows the same download screen

Give it 10-15 minutes just incase. If it is still stuck, pull the cable out then battery out (pull battery door first). Then redo the process but put the .tar files etc that you're putting before you plug the phone in.
did as you said and nwo I see the progress bar on my phone.
YAY! thank so much for the help and quick replies my phone is back to life now I feel so much more at ease will be confident the next time I have a accident flashing my phone or doing any kind of modifications.
edit: I think I lost my titanium back up so is my phone still rooted or do I have to re-root
hooray! you're welcome. just be sure to do nandroid backups before you apply hacks, at least now you have the tools to perform flashing with odin so next time it'll be easier
titanium said it couldnt get root permissions I had the OCLF did re flashing the stock rom from odin undo everything the lag fix did?

[Q] Odin is flashing several hours...

I've flashed my Galaxy S2 with Odin several times and it has worked fine until yesterday, when I tried to flash again, and everything just froze.
I followed the normal instructions for flashing and the phone just stopped at the "downloading" screen where it says, "Do not turn of target!!".
So it has been, for several hours now. The Odin window on my computer seems to be waiting... but for what? Will it ever time out?
Is it normal that a flash session can take several hours?
Is it safe to interrupt it?

Odin will flash, takes less than 5 minutes.
Is there any data running that you can see? I mean at the bottom left. I would suggest you turn off the phone, battery pull, wait for 5 minutes, and reflash back.
If it semi bricked, use JIG to revive it.
Either way, you can't be letting the phone there for the next few days etc right?
Did you click Start in Odin??
Although i don't have an s2(will be getting one soon) did you try to reset your pc? When i was flasing my sgsl i was stuck in this situation where odin seems to freeze everytime. I restarted my pc and poof, flashed without a problem
Edit: was flashing successful? If so maybe you should follow the instruction from the post below.

This might sound stupid but did you have 'auto-reboot' checked? It happened to me once even though I have flashed hundreds of times. Odin was still open after flashing a kernel and never reset.
Start was clicked - yes.
Re boot was checked - yes.
I reset my computer and restarted my phone and - now it's still frozen, but with an icon on the center showing three icons in a line. First is a phone, second is a exlamation mark and third is a computer. Yiipiiiee. It doesn't boot. I can't get into recovery mode. Download mode does work however, but still the same behaviour. It freezes if I try to flash it.
Now what? Where is that reset-button which resets the phone and clears its brain down to original mode? A simple "brain wash" would be nice.
Is there anyway out of this "freeze of death" ?
Flash CWM kernel, download CM7 rom, copy it on SDCard (mount USB storage in CWM, connect to PC via USB, copy ROM), flash ROM from CWM

Try to go into recovery mode and factory reset and clear cache and try flashing again (make sure you are on download mode)

Hold power button to off it (hold a lil longer for this).
Then Go into recovery mode (power, home button and volume up at same time). Try do wipe all data, cache and even dalvik. Reboot and see if that works.
Alternatively, at the same place, go into restore backup.

Recovery mode doesn't work - nope. But thanks anyway. It's nice to see that people at least try to help. Big hugs to you all.
If I try to flash CWM, I come into the same freeze again. Mindbending stuff ala Samsung, huh. They clearly don't make idiot-safe products. I'm stuck. My next phone might be a StarTAC...
Has happened to me before. KIES was opened. I closed all KIES files and the flashing fun started again~
Good point, make sure Kies isn't running when using Odin!
Also, now that you've flashed CWM, can't you boot on it?
Kies is not running and whatever I flash - it freezes. The green progress bar in Odin reaches maybe 1 cm, but no blue progress bar is visible on the phone as usually happens when flashing. It just says, "Downloading... Don't turn off target!!"
Am I slowly heading towards the brutal-axe-method?
Sounds like the NAND is damaged to me, but I'm no expert...
"NAND" means? Why does it sound like it's damaged? How can it get repaired?
NAND is the flash chip (internal sdcard). Seems that its damaged because you're unable to fully flash it.
I don't think you can have that repaired (if the NAND is truly damaged, like I said I'm no expert), you'd have to get the phone replaced.
With all respect, let's hope you aren't an expert, but better. But has anyone else interrupted a flash process and went though a "freeze"?
I'm looking for a way to reset the phone to use only what was burnt into ROM from first delivery. I just can't accept that it is so easy to mess up a phone, and I doubt Samsung would be so crazy not to build it with a rescue kinda last savior. Am I totally naive? Is my baby dead? :'(
lol I hope for you that I'm wrong also!

Something similar had happened with me too. The phone was stuck b/w flashing with odin. And the startscreen was showing those 3 icons. It was soft bricked.
But I then finally fixed it by flashing CF and then a ROM

[Q] unable to access download mode

I was running phone-bricker 2.7 and wanted to change roms to galaxynexus to try it out. Galaxynexus failed 3 or 4 times to install so I decided to start fresh and revert back to stock and reroot(I think I had a bad downloaded copy). I used odin 1.82(which I used to root initially) and SGH-I777_ClockworkMod-Recovery_5.0.2.3. I put .tar file in the pda slot and only checked auto reboot. When I started odin it stopped part way into it(pc locked up). I restarted my pc but my galaxy would not go into download mode. I did the vol up and down and connected usb and even used the jig that I have. The jig worked before cuz I used it to get into download mode in the first place.
The battery is charged(used a battery charger) but the screen stays black and the phone gets warm but nothing happens, no battery icon, no download screen, and no CWM. My wall charger doesn't recognize it and neither does my pc.
I'm out of ideas.

If you can't get into download mode with a jig, your device is most likely bricked. My brother had the same problem, but luckily we were still under our warranty and got it replaced for free at the ATT store by my house.
Get stock android files for Odin and Work through it.

[Q] YP-G70 2.2.2 stuck in boot loop

Hello there,
I was trying to flash Rj's Custom Kernel to my Glaaxy Player 5 which I had just rooted using SuperOneClick.
I went into download mode (Power+Volume-down+Back button) on my phone, opened up Odin and selected the tar file I downloaded as a PDA, Only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time were checked, nothing else was changed.
Clicked Start and the process appeared to go Successfully in Odin, when the phone was reset the Samsung Logo appeared for longer than usual, and my computer (which was still connected via USB) complained that the USB device was not recognised, then eventually the phone rebooted to the Samsung Logo and the process repeats itself ad infinitum.
The only thing I can do is get the phone back into Download Mode, and flash another rom, but I don't know what to try, can anyone please help me get my phone back to working order?
Cheers,
Blaiz0r.

Does your player have a mechanical home button because if it has a home button that is a light capacative and also if its capacitive you need entropeys kernel search on google

[Q] samsung galaxy player 3.6 random crash/boot loop!

I have an um-rooted samsung galaxy player 3.6 (running gingerbread 2.3.6) I was browsing an app when suddenly it crashed! the battery was low, so at first I thought to plug it in, but before I did, I noticed that it was rebooting every 4-5 seconds. plugged it in, took out battery, tried putting in recovery (put bat. back in, hold power and both volume buttons) but it vibrates and just goes back into boot loop. it pops up with the samsung logo, stays for 3 or so seconds, screen goes dark, then it does it again.
I have been messing with it. when it starts booting, my computer recognizes it as OMAP3630 which google has told me is the name of the processor. It tries to install drivers but fails due to "umplugged device" when it turns off
Weird! If you have data to recover try using adb logcat to see what's going on. Otherwise reflash with Odin. I have only experienced this problem when using heimdall to flash my us yp-gs1, but it happens right after flashing.
What app were you using when it happened?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
a Forum app. It has not been flashed either. it is all stock 2.3.6 gingerbread. if i put the battery in then plug it in (without hitting any power buttons) it goes to a loading circle (that does not move at all) and just stays there. the computer does not recognize it in this state. its only 3 months old, but I have no idea where the recipt is!
weird! im sticking with my answer tho, if you want to fix it then put it in download mode and flash it
if you cant get to download mode then buy a $2 usb jig
Tried it! no luck. got it in download mode. ran odin and It said pass! BUT it only took 3 seconds? and then instead of flashing just samsung then rebooting, it started flashing samsung with a caution symbol under it and rebooting. went to do it again and it says suctom binary current binary:custom. so it seems it worked but did not fix my problem
Did you flash normalboot and factoryfs both?

I had a similar problem with the galaxy player 5.0. Took out my micro sd card from it and somehow that worked. Hasn't gone on any reboot cycle since.
I was gonna try the fs whatever one, but now i cannot get my computer to recognize it! i tried another factory reset and that didnt help. i got it to work once. Guess I will have to keep trying? I got school so I cant do it now (16, junior in High school)
yep you'll need to get to download mode to flash it. like i said before, a $2 usb jig will always do the trick (i loooove mine)
I dont have any problem getting it into download mode, my problem is getting the computer to recognize it. gonna have to try it on a dif computer I guess, which is weird, because I got it to work once, but now it wont. I flashed the normalboot the first time, what did i do wrong? should I have flashed the other (fs or whatever is is) one instead? thanks for the help!
When I'm in a bootloop after heimdall testing I need to flash factoryfs. For you I would say flash both. Try another cable/ try another USB port
