[Q] Custom Rom from Safestrap to Boot Menù Manager - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi evreyone
in'm an italian user and I install on my XT910 the JB Kernel from Verizon with Boot Menù Manager.
I see in the forum that's there're a lot of Rom that using Safestrap 3 so I ask you if it's possible to install this Rom with BMM or if thre's a procedure to convert rom for SS3 into rom for BMM 0.3.4.
Best regards
p.s.: I know my english is not so good, I hope that you understand my problem.

AW: [Q] Custom Rom from Safestrap to Boot Menù Manager
All Stock JB based Roms out there are booting fine with BMM 0.3.4 so long you're running the JB Kernel. Just flash the GSM Patch after the Rom.
In my signature is an Link with an overview about bootable JB (&ICS) Roms.

I'll try to use information read on you link with hashcode CM10.1.
Thanks

AW: [Q] Custom Rom from Safestrap to Boot Menù Manager
The latest CM10.1 Roms are not bootable with BMM. Hashcode changed some stuff, so you have to use SS for CM10.1.
That's why i wrote Stock (Blur) based JB Roms like Eclipse, Cyclone, Batakang, DWiz,....

This is why I can't install CM10.1
It's the same thing with Liquid-JB?
I'd like to have the version 4.2.1 on my Razr becasuse I try the CM10.1 for ICS kernel and I think it's a good Rom but the I need to use Camera and BT.
Do you Know if there're a custom rom with android 4.2.1 for ours smartphone?
Thanks
Best regards

[Q] Dual booting two different Custom Roms GT-i9300?

I tried today Dualbooting Omega v27.1 as primary Rom and ParanoidAndroid JB as secondary rom and it worked perfectly.
Now i tried the same primary rom (Omega v27.1) and HyperGalaxy,Hyperlight, and some other small lite rom, none of them worked instead Blackscreen loop.
So my question is ; can i Dual Boot my Omega v27.1 with foxhound or Wanamlite or any other custom Rom,or this is just incompatibility of Updater Script from EveryRom??

gb? you mean ics roms! there is no gingerbrad rom for s3
and yes. newest release of shiya are only compatible with jelly bean rom's. it's better way to copy 1st rom to 2 rom directory by using the shiya 2nd boot utils an flash the other rom as first rom using normal recovery.
must flash shiya again after flash of any romwithout shiya included!

Clean rom slot

I am on the new jb ota update rooted. My question is what do the devs mean about having a clean rom slot? Thanks

You need to have a custom recovery installed like Safestrap 3.11 to get access to the rom slots. When devs say you need to have a clean rom slot they mean you have to make sure theres nothing installed on that slot and that you have wiped everything like the cache, dalvik cache, data and system.
I'm on safe Strap 3.11, and I found that I had better results deleting the Rom Slot and re-creating it when installing a new build of the CM 10.1 based ROM.
When installing ROMs based on the OTA JB Leak, just wiping is fine.

Will this affect restoring backups?
It didn't cause any problems for me. I had the Diabitis JB ROM installed in slot 1, backed it up, deleted the slot, recreated it to install the CM 10.1 unofficial, didn't like it, and then restored my Diabitis back-up right over it with no problems.

A clean rom slot is a rom slot that never had a Rom installed on it, it just was created, wipped (twice for some roms) and then got the rom installed on it.
What is the KEXEC and rom slots? Why i cannot instal CM from recovery without SafeStrap? What is meaning of "This is a KEXEC build and must be installed in SafeStrap rom-slot1."
Ok first kexec is for our droids that can't have a unlocked bootloader. So we have a custom 2nd recovery. That is the only way you can have any but the stock rom. The slots are for if you want more than one rom to try out.

Ok, if I try to instal custom rom with stock recovery it will fail ? When I first experimenting with safestrap and instal carbonrom, i didnt know how this working so SS was disabled and i instal carbon rom to stock rom slot. It works fine. I thought that SS is not necessary because it always has been disabled.
Sorry for my ignorance, I was used to htc...

Ok, are you saying safestrap is disabled because the screen says that when you boot the phone up? That is just the hijack at the beginning telling you it isn't booting into recovery and giving you time to go into recovery if you want(the options at the bottom of the screen.)
Backup what you have now in recovery, then you can wipe and flash in the stock slot.
Exactly that is what the deal is. You are on the right track.

[Q] How do you flash AOKP 4.2.2?

Good news, our Razr (xt912) is now officially supported by AOKP and they released Build 4, which is 4.2.2. However i do not know how to flash this rom so any help would be nice.
Here is a link to it: http://aokp.co/release-jb-mr1-build-4/
Thanks
I think..
( I think ) you must on JB Kernel and Flash bootmenu manager. İts just RAZR XT910. I did not try XT912..

I just went from a rooted stock ICS, installed Safestrap 2 (couldn't get 3 to work) and installed AOKP and GApps and it's up and running just fine.
You can be in both, JB leak and ICS kernel, you just have to choose the right rom...
Also, you must not flash it on stock slot...
EDIT: Never mind.

Really ? Im on JB leak i downloaded AOKP for CDMA Spyder and i can´t boot..... I think it is only for ICS kernel...
The official AOKP releases are for ICS kernel only. There are builds by dhacker which work on the JB kernel (XT912 only).
I installed bootmenu manager, 3 wipes and flash umts_spyder_jb.zip and reboot but not opened. And then Im back to the Stock İCS.

Can we gt links to these? Also, are they tested or just "it should work" types of things.

Could someone in the thread read and evaluate to make sure?

http://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/spyder/aokp
i tested this build JELLYBEAN_KERNEL_ONLY-alpha-JB-aokp_spyder_unofficial_Feb-07-13.zip
Its pretty fast and nice but it have same bugs as CM 10.1(no camera...)
The camera should be fixed once Verizon pushes the official update and the devs have time to compile the drivers.
They stated soak test signups yesterday(?), so it shouldn't be to long.
Any other major bugs, or is it pretty clean? Also, did you follow the same instructions as the link I posted?
on BMM
how install this rom on system_2 of Boot menu manager ?
wont boot on System 2 of Boot menu manager ...
another AOKP rom boot on system_2 but this rom wont
how is battery performance in this rom compared to china leak jb?

Help understanding.

hey guys.
I've got a few questions regarding my i9100's kernels and ROMs.
I'm currently running dual boot RR Rom in primary on dorimanx v7.8 kernel, the kernel got updated to v7.8 when i installed M1UI ROM in the secondary ROM space. Both ROMs are 4.1.2.
I've tried to install the latest stable version of root box and paranoid android into 2nd ROM position. When installing them via cwm recovery I didn't get the launcher like with M1UI or RR, so there was no option to upgrade the kernel.
Paranoid android didn't boot at all after install and root box booted but the start animation was laggy when booting and once booted the system UI crashed with everything else. Both ROMs are jellybean and dorimanx v7.8 supports jellybean?
I'm guessing I'm missing a obvious compatibility issue.
My question lays with updating the kernel. Is there a proper way to update the kernel so I can try paranoid android and root box?
Should I clean/wipe both ROMs and caches, run a kernel cleaning script and install a new kernel (the latest version of dorimanx)? Then my current ROM will be incompatible?
Do I just got ahead and install a compatible rom (root box / paranoid android)?
Is this the right way to go about updating kernel to try new ROMs?
I haven't been able to find a guide on this subject. Leaving me with a small fear of fiddling with things I don't fully understand. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.
Many thanks.

For the latest root box and pa to work you need say dormanx 8.xx. Do clean your system up with kernel nuke and rom nuke then flash rootbox 4.2.2rom to first rom then pa 4.3 rom to 2nd rom. I say 8.xx cuz if you want to use a stock based rom you will need 8.xx as this is for both stock and custom rom. 9.xx is just for custom. By all means if your going to run just custom the use 9.xx

So once I've nuked ROM and kernel do I just go ahead and run rootbox.zip or do I flash dormanx 8.xx first?
I'm guessing I have to install dormanx first as its not included In root box?
How do you classify stock based ROMs and custom ROMs?
There are currently 3 versions of this kernel depending on your ROM type and firmware. v7 = ICS, v8 = JB/ICS STOCK,*** v9 = JB CM/AOKP ONLY

PA is based from cm, aokp. cm and aokp are based on stock ROMs?
Sent from my GT-P5100 using xda app-developers app
Flash rootbox then flash dormanx then reboot. Set up rootbox then bk into dormanx cwm an flash 2nd rom. Forget about dori 7.xx as it's old and out dated. That's for ics custom jb rom. Stock firmware is any thing that uses the stock base. If you want to run jb stock based rom it needs to be a modded for dual booting stock based rom.
Cm aokp pa custom roms
Ics jb firmware is stock rom
I9100/I9300
OK, I'm not planning on using any stock ROMs, as I don't like the Sammy stock ROMs. So I'll flash 9.xx?
RR, CM, PA, ROOTBOX. all custom ROMs?
If they ain't the phones stock ROM then its a custom ROM? Regardless if its based on stock android.
Sent from my GT-P5100 using xda app-developers app
So if you gonna use custom yes just use 9.xx
Cm aokp pa are custom roms.
Hybrid rom like alliance which is custom stock rom. Uses stock base but has aokp type features uses dormanx 8.xx to run. You need to read more about roms mate.

One more question, haha sorry.
When I do kernel and ROM clean. Which order is best?
ROM clean - install ROM - kernel clean - install kernel
ROM clean - kernel clean - ROM install - kernel install
I'm guessing because I am cleaning and installing everything without booting in between it doesn't matter?
Sent from my GT-P5100 using xda app-developers app
Rom cleaning script then flash rom
Reboot.
Bk to recovery then kernel cleaning script then flash kernel.
Reboot.

Thanks. Give it a bash when I get home.

Can we 'replace' stock ROM with custom ROM?

I've been using Motorola RAZR XT910 with 4.0.4 ICS ROM (stock). It was good but later I flashed a custom ROM (4.4.4) using Safestrap. But using a different rom-slot was draining my battery quickly. So I thought of replacing the stock rom with custom rom but ended up bricking my phone (I used ClockWork Mod).
My question is- Is there a way to 'replace' the stock rom so that I don't need to use it again?
Thanks.
