Can we 'replace' stock ROM with custom ROM? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been using Motorola RAZR XT910 with 4.0.4 ICS ROM (stock). It was good but later I flashed a custom ROM (4.4.4) using Safestrap. But using a different rom-slot was draining my battery quickly. So I thought of replacing the stock rom with custom rom but ended up bricking my phone (I used ClockWork Mod).
My question is- Is there a way to 'replace' the stock rom so that I don't need to use it again?
Thanks.

[Q] about custom roms

hi guys i use nexus s and i want to install a custom rom. but can i go back to stock rom if i don't like the custom rom or can i get the official updates(like ICS) while in custom rom?
Yes, you can revert back to a stock ROM if you choose... and no, you can't get "official" updates once on a custom ROM. But there will be plenty of customs ROMs based on ICS in the future... depending on your device, of course.

of course you can revert to your previous rom just make sure that you have made a nandroid backup and you re ready to go !

[Q] Custom Rom from Safestrap to Boot Menù Manager

Hi evreyone
in'm an italian user and I install on my XT910 the JB Kernel from Verizon with Boot Menù Manager.
I see in the forum that's there're a lot of Rom that using Safestrap 3 so I ask you if it's possible to install this Rom with BMM or if thre's a procedure to convert rom for SS3 into rom for BMM 0.3.4.
Best regards
p.s.: I know my english is not so good, I hope that you understand my problem.
AW: [Q] Custom Rom from Safestrap to Boot Menù Manager
All Stock JB based Roms out there are booting fine with BMM 0.3.4 so long you're running the JB Kernel. Just flash the GSM Patch after the Rom.
In my signature is an Link with an overview about bootable JB (&ICS) Roms.

I'll try to use information read on you link with hashcode CM10.1.
Thanks
AW: [Q] Custom Rom from Safestrap to Boot Menù Manager
The latest CM10.1 Roms are not bootable with BMM. Hashcode changed some stuff, so you have to use SS for CM10.1.
That's why i wrote Stock (Blur) based JB Roms like Eclipse, Cyclone, Batakang, DWiz,....

Do you Know if there're a custom rom with android 4.2.1 for ours smartphone?
Thanks

[Q] Unsure about flashing new rom

Hey.
I'm looking to flash my pretty old Galaxy S2 from a custom GB rom to one of the spaking new JB roms.. the only thing is I'm not sure if my phone is updated enough to support flashing the new roms?
The particular rom I am looking at installing is SentinelROM v4.75
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2268064
The instructions say:
If installing for the first time:
To install this ROM you will need to have an unlocked bootloader and a custom Recovery such as TWRP or ClockWorkMod installed (personally I recommend TWRP, I have had issues with restoring backups using CWM).

What I currently have on my phone is:
CheckROM RevoHD V6
Baseband XXKI4
Android 2.3.6
N.E.A.K Kernel 1.4.2x with CWM v5.0.2.8
Am I good to just load the ROM onto my sdcard and just flash away or do I need to update my phone to a JB stock rom first? I'd ask this question in his thread but I don't have enough posts apparently..

[Q] Slim to Stock

Hey All,
Im considering switching back to a Stock 4.3 ROM from www.samsung-updates.com to my Samsung Galaxy S3 i-9300 they have a international rom for Great Britain which i think will work fine for my phone, Im currently running a SLIMROM of 4.4.2 with Touch CWM..
I personally dont care about the counter and odin flashing, really need to know if these .zips are flashable with CWM and if i can maintain my CWM recovery because i might wanna switch back to slimrom or another if its not as fast or slick as Slimroms seem to be..
Much Love and thanks for all your time
Warren:laugh::laugh:
Stock roms are only flashable using odin.
thanks
Thanks man is it possible to keep CWM or do i have to overwrite that back to stock aswell

Flash stock rom via Odin ,then flash a custom Rec ,finally restore your old rom

How about enjoying both worlds by using CWM based custom rom? The same good-old samsung UI with several major improvements.
I strongly recommend this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2060403 (newer and lighter than the UK rom).
If you still want the MK6 version (with all bloadware included), but planning to get it rooted & to install CWM again:

[Q] Install ROM without Safestrap on XT910

Hello people. I think the title says it all.
I want a quick tutorial to know how to install a custom ROM on my XT910 without using Safestrap. I dont like the 3GB storage at all.
Also, I would like to know wich is the best ROM for a noob user like me. I mean, I root and nothing else, then I download APKs or from Google Play. That's all.
Thanks!
You need either Safestrap or BMM to flash a custom ROM.
Not sure what you mean by 3GB storage.
Also, don't ask for best ROM. Its against XDA rules.

You can't flash a custom rom without custom recovery like Safestrap or Boot Menu Manager.
About the storage, you can flash the rom on stock slot but I recommend that you flash the rom on second partition, try it and if everything is ok then you flash it on stock.
This 4.4 Kitkat roms are pretty good,I had the best battery time with Liquidsmooth 03/11 build and it's smooth and fast.

Sorry, I think I said it in the wrong way. I want to delete the stock ROM so the one I download has the 8GB for storage.
I dont want 2 ROMs, i want one that replaces the stock one.
So to do this I need to flash the rom on stock slot?
Also, wich do you think is a nice gapp to have with LS + JBX? I think slim minimal gapps but i would like to hear your answer.
Thanks and sorry for my bad english.
EDIT: I have just downloaded the last Liquidsmooth ROM named "LS-KK-v3.2-2014-07-19-umts_spyder". Would you recommend me to use JBX Kernel with this ROM? Or just the ROM and not changing anything? I want the best battery time and also a fast and smooth phone, so you tell me.
