ive came to the conclusion that i will not leave android... i currently have a galaxy nexus which is a gorgeous phone and i love it, i love the pure android experience and there's so many roms!!!!, and i love android 4.2.1 (now playing around with 4.2.2)
But my upgrade is now and i dont know what phone to get
Nexus 4? (not so different to the galaxy nexus in looks from the front)
wait for the S4 (im really impatient)
Sony Xperia Z?
HTC One X?
My question is which in your opinions is the best? and more customizable when it comes to roms?
and feels and looks great of course
Would really apreciate your help
I use my phone alot, and am always testing out new roms!
Any flagship phones will have a good development going on. (Except motorola and LG, may be some more). Samsung, Sony and htc all have great flagship phones now.
And recently announced htc one aka m7 also looks great. Wait for the initial reviews.
Or just get nexus4 if you want stuff coming from google faster than anyone else.

Hi Guys,
I'm looking for a non-huge Android phone - I'd like to be able to use it with one hand. I'd prefer 3,7", but I think 4.0" is acceptable too. What could you recommend?
I need:
1) Good and stable WiFi Tethering (Hotspot, not peer-to-peer access point).
2) Speed - I'm upgrading from a HTC Hero, which even after rooting with VillainROM isn't really the fastest...
3) Removable battery - so One V isn't an option
What I have found so far:
• Sony Xperia Sola - but I heard it has bugs in tethering on Android 4.0.3
• Motorola ATRIX 4G - seems to have really great specs, very popular here on xda, but it's 4.0", also I don't know about the crapware that Motorola includes?
• Samsung Galaxy S Advance - 786MB whereas the Atrix 4G has 1024MB, will this be noticeable? otherwise the specs are the same, but the Galaxy has a nice AMOLED screen. Unfortunately also 4.0"
• Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 - 3.8" so pretty much the size I'm looking for, but only 0,8GHz CPU, whereas the S Advance has 1,0GHz. Will this be noticeable?
• Nexus S - 4.0", pure Android which is nice, but the specs are much worse than of the Galaxies...
What would you guys advice? Thanks for your help in advance!

The Atrix is nice, the screen isn't too big, and neutrinoROM can make it lightning fast.
Edit:Motoblur is actually useful, and you can make a lot of use of the features included, there's not much bloatware preloaded.

I moved over to the Note 4 and turned in my N3. I wanted to give a farewell and some parting thoughts.
First things first - I want to thank all the Devs that worked so hard getting this puppy rooted and SafeStrapped. Herculian!
Just before I turned it in, I spent a couple days with Alliance 2 and Jasmine 2.x. I rocked Alliance 1 for months and loved it. And 2 was a solid performer as well. It had some definite pluses over Jas.
Alliance Pluses
#1 - OK Google - everywhere worked but didn't on Jas.
#2 - Less Bloat? - I didn't confirm it, but I think it did have less Vcrap
#3 - Easy installed themes - they were pretty amazing.
Jasmine 2.x pluses
#1 - Better out of the gate : just
#2 - S5 feel - It looks and works almost the same as my N4. I loved the 4.4.4 feel.
- I love the Gallery
- the Popup multiwindow was awesome
So, if you want a 4.4.4 Galaxy S5 stock experience (and it's pretty cool), go with Jas.
If you want a customized rocket sled, go with A 2
Thanks for the memories. I'm sure I'll see many of you over in the N4 forums.
Cheers,
Matt
Hi. I currently own Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 for more than a year and I thought its good time to change phone. As you can see, Im a person who buys budget phones. I was searching for my next budget phone and Motorola Moto E LTE got my attention. I couldnt find a better deal than this, so I thought before making a final decision I will ask some opinions from people who got this phone. So, what do you think of Moto E and can you recommend it? What are biggest disadvantages and hows the performance? I already know that lack of flashlight is big hit for me.
Well it's a hard question. On stock 5.0.2 (there is still no update in eu) performance is preatty bad. Sometimes it runs smooth but there are cases when it lags horrible. I don't know who even installed chrome on this phone: it is cleary unusable however I instaled lighting browser and it works fine.
I've bought this phone because I tought that it will be my first smartphone which will be runing fine out of the box without modifications and I'm disapionted now :/ There is update in US and it probably fixes some of performance issues but when it will be available in eu? We still don't know.
Of course there is some good things like:
- of course price
- build quality
- very fast gps
- decent screen for it's price
- great battery life (up to 7h of screen on time)
- almost clean android
- decent speaker
- sd card slot and enabled android's app to sd
- up to date cpu (bigger chance that it will get android m)
- lte
- big data partion (we get 5gb out of 8gb so I think that's good)
- good light sensor
- and I very like it's look (but it's my own preference)
and what is bad now:
- performance on 5.0.2
- there is no e-compas! (my xperia x8 had compas in 2010)
- no notification led (this is very annoying since moto display is too sensitive and ambient display works randomly)
- fornt camera (back one is decent but sometimes it can't focus well)
- lack of camera flash
- updates aren't so fast (at least in eu)
- miracast isn't working (because of only 2,4 ghz wifi)
- moto features aren't working well on 5.0.2, for exaple twist to turn on camera isn't working properly (after twist I feel the vibration but screen isn't turning on)
So would I buy it again?? I don't know, it's performance is really discapointing right now. I compared it to moto g on 4.4.4 (which should be slower because of 720p screen and slower cpu) and it was like day and night. G was way faster.
Thats a bummer. I thought it was very good for basic usage like messages and browser. I heard Android 5.0 had memory leaks, but from what youre saying performance is really bad here. Is it fixed in 5.1?
well for basic usage it can make a job, I discabled all moto services that you can discable in settings, installed nova launcher, lighting browser and it's somehow working. When it starts lags I clean my recent apps and it helps.
The phone is preatty good but it was relased in bad time, in days of probably the worst android relase, lollipop looks cool but it can't be as fast as kitkat :/
howerer when I compared it to my other firend's moto g on stock 5.0.2 they were running simmilar and he told me that he hasn't got issues with it (but he often clear recent apps so maybe thats the reason)
I belive that 5.1.1 will fix all the issues, we have to wait.
I would appreciate other people opinions.
just too good a phone at this price

when i purchased it i dint have much expectations considering its cheap.but then as i am using it for over 2 months now ,i dont feel it as a cheap phone.it never hanged on me..not even once.though i have disabled quite a lot of stuff but thats fine...this is first phone i am running without rooting in last 5 years.and surprisingly i am not feeling need to .My battery lasts beyond 3 days and it runs fast enuf in comparison to my past phones which i had to root to make them usable(samsung s3 , s advance etc)
i wud say go fr it..5.1 update is sure to improve it further
When I first bought my moto e (xt1526) a few months back, at first it sucked. I wanted my ZTE max back. Everything was laggy. Even after the 5.1 update. So, I rooted and tinkered with roms that our great XDA developers have been working very hard on, until I found one that was somewhat solid. It ended up being a soak test 5.1 rom. It made the phone snappy and overall great. The only issue is my mic drops out on my bluetooth sometimes. Overall it is a great phone to me for its price.

Well, I think it cant be worse than my current Galaxy Ace 2.
Hello Folks.
I have tried adding my various devices to my profile here - but it just does not work EXCEPT for the poor, tired Nexus 7 tablet which I barely even use & keep powered off, mostly.
My 'daily drivers', sitting right before me, in cradles are:
- An LG Optimus Dynamic II (LG L38C) running v 2.3.6;
- An LG Optimus Fuel (LG L34C) running v 4.4.
Lastly=>
Just sitting here, powered off (patiently awaiting a de-lobotomy) is an Alcatel One Touch Pixi Pulsar (A460G, TCL, mt6582) running 4.4.2 .
I wish I could somehow add these devices into my profile info here ?!?
Best Wishes to All.

My main uses for my devices are VOIP over Wifi, and SMS vis textPlus.
I haven't quite decided what I'll use the Nexus 7 for yet...
It was a gift from a friend with a broken screen which has been repaired - but its case is touchy so it has to stay in the cradle or it does some odd stuff (like not powering up).
Also - it has downloaded the latest OS update and I am very hesitant to allow it to install as I've seen too much that I do not like about v5.x - whereas this tablet is already rooted v4.4.x .
I may just set it up to get weather updates and such so that it gets some use - it is just not a priority right now.
Thanks for replying !!
please
What are the things u don't like about lollipop? I upgraded my n7505 yesterday.... I feel it very responsive and clear... In my case Samsung added a lot of new stuffs

Frankly - I tend not to trust 'updated' s/w - and after reading how many apps were not ready and/or not compatible with it, my thought was centered upon what I may need it for anyhow - and my answer was...AFAIK, nothing.
So I let it stay as-is, for now.
My bigger priority is getting my Alcatel phone rooted somehow so that it can be useful to me.
