I currently use My flashed droid razr with stock ROM 2.3.6, GB. it is flashed to cricket. my first question is, when i use my safe ROM, will i still be on cricket? and my second question is, by wiping data/factory reset, will this delete the files i have on my internal or external memory for my unsafe/stock ROM? please answer back asap! Thanks!

Factory reset/Data Wipe will clean ur internal storage. Thats all.
It does nothing against ur SDCARD
I went ahead with it. And it didnt touch anything on my unsafe ROM. but on my new safe ROM I dont have 3g. What could be the problem? I still have it for my unsafe ROM.

Did you install a rom that is for something other then gingerbread 2.3? If installed a rom for ICS or JB then you will not have correct radios

Whenever I install and ICS ROM it seems like it installs fine but then it just its at a black screen whenever I try to boot up. I'm pretty sure I'm following instructions right but I have no idea what's causing thus problem. Just ask if you need additional information.

do not use safestrap, this gains you lots of bugs and flash failures... it's quite not very 'safe' i think... use RAZRbootstrap instead...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347767
works perfect for me.
edit: if you're NOT on 2.3.6 the ics ota will NOT work! it's based on 2.3.6's kernel version...

Make sure you are on stock 2.3.6
If you are not on 2.3.6 then you will have to upgrade first and reroot before you can install any ICS ROM.
By the way, which ROM are you trying to install?

Hi
Tried a quick search but got overwhelmed with the info
I've had my gs2 since launch and I rooted it and run check checkrom v6 at the moment. I want to upgrade to ics but unsure which way to go as there is a lot of conflicting info
Any advice would be appreciated

You just need to decide if you want a stock or a custom ROM.
As your running checkrom you're obviously not a stranger to flashing ROMs so just do a bit of research into some and flash.
Make a back using clockwork mod and if you want to go back to your old set up you can
A few custom ROMs to try are:
Ressurection Remix
Slim ICS
Elite Rom
Cyanogenmod 9
Will probably try cyanogenmod.
Is it pretty much just flash through cmw as before?

I would suggest rootbox. There is an ICS version and a JB, which is actually really stable
Thanks for the reply
This is where I got confused lol so is root box the new cwm? Or do I use cmw to flash root box then use root box to flash an ics rom?
I'm getting to old for all this

Rootbox is an version of ICS. You use cwm to flash Rootbox (an ics rom)

Yes, that is all it is about. Make a nandroid backup first. Then wipe it clean, cache and data, and then flash whatever ROM you choose.
I can relate to your problem, s2 seriously has a lot of ROMs so try them and stick with that which YOU like personally. If you want you can try CM9 only first or any other. Just go to that ROM's thread and they mention how to flash in the OP.

Why? There's so many people like this on xda who say this, but when I asked the Devs, its not even necessary or doesn't help.
I never ever flashed an ics rom and I went straight from stock gb to custom ics without a problem.

I installed cm 10.1 over my stock rom via SS accidentally without having a backup... Now I`m running cm 10.1 on stock alot and slot 1, but only the slot one works (as supposed).
I had eclipse v4 ICS rom installed on stock, which i did via BMM, and now I`m not sure what to do.
Since the rom installed on slot 1 (cm 10.1) is working with no issues, I`m leaving it this way for a while, but I`d really like to clean up installations in future to install JB on stock with no slots, since I`d have more internal space available.
So the question is: What do I have to do to clean up my razr gsm and start over from a clean JB on stock slot (LATAM, isn`t released yet, right?).
And finally, should I face any issues if I install EU JB release?
Thanks in advance!
If you want to start fresh you have to go to stock recovery and full wipe, the flash your stock latam firmware of choice..

How do I know which is the latest Latam? Which is the difference between 6.5.1, 6.7.2 and 6.7.3? ICS, JB (4.1.2) and JB (4.2.2)?
Sorry for so many questions

i think the 6.7.2 one, because i flashed retail eu ics and the number is 6.7.2
Well, I`m trying 6.7.2-180_SLC-35_LATAM_SPYDERICSRETBRLA_ServiceCFC_fastboot.xml.zip... All I should do is restart phone on AP Fastboot, full wipe and flash it? (RSD?)
Btw, do I have to uninstall SS or delete rom slots?

I bought a used Droid RAZR and it constantly reboots. It was running stock 4.1.2 and Factory resting, booting into Safe Boot, formatting the Internal SD memory, or all 3 wouldn't stop it so I Rooted it with razr blade for Jelly Bean and then flashed the lastest nightly of CM 10.1. It never gets service so I was to flash it back to stock ICS with RSD lite or back to Jelly Bean with the sbf. Before I do this can anyone tell me if I run the risk of bricking it flashing either of the sbf's? Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem (obviously) but TheMrCool212 helped me (don't forget to push his thanks button!!) And I flashed the file from WWW.sbf.droid-developers.org using RSD lite it took 10-20 mins. Just remember to use the right file for which variant of the RAZR you have. I don't think the file was a .sbf file but it WILL work. P.S. I would not recommend going back down to 4.0.4 because they switched kernels between 4.0.4 and 4.1.2 and I heard it wouldn't work so I just used the 4.1.2 file. But if your dead set on going back to 4.0.4 ask around some more before flashing. Hope this helped if you are confused or need more help just ask me.

It does sound like a sketchy proposition without backing everything up and restoring your phone to factory default with the current stock rom, would it be possible or too much hassle to simply install the stock rom in a new slot instead of replacing what already works in your stock slot? I'm sure there are people who have also flashed new stock roms to the stock slot and re-rooted, I haven't done this myself, but might be worth some google research, either way I don't know how it would be possible to dodge some serious changes to your internal storage unless the work was done in a new slot.

You cannot just install stock ROM, on a Rom slot it needs to be modified to a installable zip, or a nandroid backup.
