Is there any way to control the captive button LED's, so they can be turned off?
For example, I've modified a microB with 47k ohm resistor between pin 4 and 5 to trigger "Dock Mode". It works and I can start up a night time clock app. (Slightly annoying that having TASKER loaded causes the ringtone to alert, don't know why?)
BUT the stupid captive button lights stay on all night!
"HTC, please think about dorks like me that use my phone as a night stand clock and alarm!"
I don't think it's possible without root. I've tried several apps that have worked on past HTC devices with no success.

Had my Galaxy S2 for a few days now and love it. I have come from a Desire HD and the Galaxy blows it out the water.
One question, is there any way to set the sound profile to vibrate only? I can set it to silent, but was wondering if there is a way to have it on vibrate only?
From the home screen pull down the notification bar. At the top of that is one of Samsung's 'cleverly' hidden power controls.
One of them is called 'Sound Vibration. It lets you toggle vibrate on or vibrate off.
Strangely, this single control doesn't exist in the power control widget you can add to a homescreen. Wtf.
Actually what I wrote is partially balls.
Switching that option on fixes the SMS vibrating option. However, when someone rings you the phone vibrates with a ringtone.
Still vexed. Fail.
I frequently use my Epic 4G as an audio player/streamer. I've been using a widget to prevent the screen from sleeping entirely which was all fine and dandy, except that I now have Pandora's GUI burned into the bottom of my phone. I absolutely hate having to press the physical power button to wake my screen and then unlock it just to skip a track or whatever. Does anyone know of an app that would allow the screen to black out, but then awaken via touch? Ideally with no lockscreen, but to the lockscreen without the power button would even be heaps better than having to deal with that physical power key on the side of the phone.
I love my evo 3D but one thing that has been driving me nuts is that whenever im holding it in landscape mode i keep hitting the heat sensitive buttons on the right while playing games or watching movies... this either causes the phone to vibrate or minimizes the app
is there a way to turn off the buttons in landscape mode?

i haven't seen any 3rd party apps which disable these buttons .. the only controls i've seen were for the LED backlight on the buttons, which i don't think is what you're looking for.
i would think, in theory, there should be some type of API an application could tap into which would disable those buttons. the first downside which comes to mind is there is no way to exit out of the application if for some reason the application has any type of issues and the back/home buttons are still disabled.
perhaps with back/home buttons disabled, enable volume rocker to go back to home? the logic starts to get a bit tricky.
the best and most narrowly focused solution which comes to mind would be for the game app developer to handle those buttons during game play. perhaps require the home or back buttons to be held instead of tapped in order to trigger their standard action.
perhaps a 3rd party app could disable tapping the buttons and require them to be held for 5 seconds in order to trigger their standard tapping action?
i know on ics, this is handled a bit better as there are no hardware buttons and they are handled in the software. in the stock ics gallery, the buttons are dimmed to dots instead of their full icons while viewing images, which gives the impression there is greater software control over those buttons than previously.
i'm sure if somebody else has seen any solutions, they'll post up.
hope that helps with a few technical thoughts from the background of an application developer!
Using a bedside dock app, my capacative buttons stay lit. Is there any way to turn these off only while the bedside docking app is active? I'm rooted running ViperXL+ 1.2.6
This app will do the trick.

Tell me how it goes.
Thanks, I have that app, and it works but It is inconvenient to have to manually shut them off, and then manually turn them back on when everything else is automated when my phone docks and undocks.
Any suggestion on how to automate that app to shut them off, and then back on? I use NFC tags and could probably learn tasker if that's required.
I think your talking about a time out for the lights. As far as I know this has to do with the kernel.
Hi, not sure if anyone else has had this issue.
It's only really been happening to me the last few mornings when I wake up.
My screen is blank, the top half (no clock showing) the bottom half shows the bottom half with the fingerprint and if I touch anything, it's just frozen.
My alarm has sounded while it's been like this, and it shows the slider to turn it off, but again won't actually slide when I try, so the alarm keeps sounding.
The only way i it responds normally is if I press the off button to turn the screen off, then press it again to turn it back on, and then it seems back to normal.
I can't think of anything I have installed recently that might be causing it?
Anyone got any ideas please?
Regards
James
Do you use goodlock and custom clocks on aod and lock screen?
I do use goodlock yeah, thinking about it, I did recently charge a setting for aod to wake up notifications. It's there a glitch with that do you know?
I have had my screen go black and wont respond to any presses. Then when pressing the powerbutton the screen shows the home and back button only but responds to nothing, except I can use the sidebar, click on calander for example and then it allows me to unlock. Did this a few times but has not done it again after a power off and on.
