I've had a search of the forum and couldn't find anything similar to my problem.
A few weeks after I first got my phone, JellyBean was leaked for my Samsung S3. I managed to get it on my phone and it ran OK, but was slightly buggy. A few days ago I decided to put back on the stock firmware, so I went to Samsung-updates.com and found a suitable file (so I thought) and installed it using Odin. It turned out it was O2, but in Cheqk the phone also didn't start up 90% of the time, froze randomly and cut off a lot. I then found the O2U software (O2 UK) and installed it with Odin. The language was correct, but I'm having the same problem: My phone is slow, crashes etc.
I used Odin 1.85 and 3.07. I have the Samsung S3 UK Version (no 4G) and it's on O2.
The model on the back says GT-I9300.
My question: How can I restore it to original firmware (out of the box) so it's exactly like new? Thanks for any help in advance.

Yes just flash your saved original firmware via Odin or find it on sammobile or sam updates .

Hello,
I put the stock firmware of my S3 for the waranty but now I have an "CSC : unknown"
I have tried many firmware but can not restore the situation !!
Do you have an idea?
Thank you in advance
go to the phone dialer and input : *#272*(IMEI)#
Then choose your default CSC.
The phone will reboot and reformat your phone, so make sure all data has been backed up.
Thanks for your reply..but i have only one CSC "AUT"
I try another stock firmware !
Stock roms thread CSC post flash CSC .

I tried this when I used the suggested firmware downloaded from Fuscheck (BTU) I'm on O2.
When I typed it in on the keypad I got BTU displayed, clicked it and install, then I got an error saying something like 'must be at least THREE'
It won't install I managed to resolve the situation by downloading and flashing a firmware from Sam-Mobile, but I don't understand my issue, every time I want to upgrade my firmware I have to completely wipe the phone,. (OK I have titanium backup) but that's not the point. Surely there is a way of ODIN flashing a new firmware then re-rooting, without factory reset every time.
Is Fuscheck the best place to get the firmware upgrade?
Any suggestions/ ideas on my situation would be grateful, I can't really be spending half a day trying to unbrick the phone every time there's a update
Joe
You can download roms from www.sammobile.com/firmware. Thats where I get them from. Install with Odin v3 3.0.4.
If you are rooted you can flash firmware with Mobile Odin Pro and keep root.

Thanks for that. Helpful post.
I normally use Odin on my PC, and just flash through PDA.
I am rooted so is it just a case of flashing firmware from Sammobile then rooting the phone again (I use CF Root)
I have done this by mistake in the past using odin but I can't understand why it didn't work.
I have now a phone from Australia apparently and kies is not very helpful. I already have the BTU ELLA update but I'm not sure if it would work flashing that with odin. In the past it didn't work and I had to reflash the correct update.
Am I supposed to flash more than just the PDA?

No, just place the correct rom in PDA and flash it. The phone however has a specific sales code and if the installed firmware differs from the device`s country code Kies will not support updates. Only if you have the correct regional rom for your S3.
Thanks.
In the past I had used a BTU Tom instead of the vodafone specific on a i9300 and it had lost the notification bar and touzhwiz crashed.
Once I installed the vodafone specific rom it went back to normal.
I have now come across the ELLA update on a Australian import s3 and just flashed it with kies. Trouble I have with that now is that the bottom shortcuts somehow are stuck and wont be replaced. I will try and reflash the rom tomorrow with odin and if it doesn't work I'd like to try the international version of 4.1.2.
Did you wipe your device after flashing the firmware?
Some carriers do only than little modifications to the device and may cause incompatibilites with the standard roms.
How do I do a complete wipe?

Go to settings, backup and restore and do a data facory reset.
Ah you mean a factory data reset.
When I do that the australian version adds 2 apps which are easily removed and I cannot see anything else there. I also have another issue.
Odin 3.04 does not see my phone. Only odin 1.85 can.
But even that version says that the md5 file I downloaded from sammobile is invalid.
I am going to try this with mobile odin
Right
Tried the btu version with mobile odin and again have the same issue. Notification panel is gone and the touchwiz doesn't work properly.

You have to reset after you flashed the rom. Did you reset the flash counter with Triangle Away?
Update
Retried the btu md5 but selected to wipe data and cache from mobile odin pro.
It seems to be working now
I have had my S3 for about 6 months now and everything has been fine, I rooted it about 3 months ago and ran the cyanogenmod everything was fine until a couple of nights ago when it wouldn't turn in and i was stuck on the samsung startup screen, I could get into recovery mode where i did a factory reset and loaded a back up, no luck. so i flashed the stock firmware and still only the startup screen.
I have managed to start the device after using this rom in odin "CheckROM_V4_LG8.tar" However i have no imei and it is stuck in factory mode, the original firmware still doesn't work when flashed.
Thanks in advance

Flash, reset, flash, reset. For some reason samsungs retain data from previous roms so do as above.
Beamed in by telepathy.
Found a fix!
After following shivadow's post, remove the .md5 extentnion from the end of the firmware file from sammobile, extract the firmware file, and image ONLY the boot.img file.
Hi,
I am a NOOB.
I have a GT P3100 with no baseband and IMEI,
I lost EFS folder trying to flash slimkat and dont have a backup.
Is there a way to repair it without a box??
Thanks in Advance.
First thing to try is just re-installing the stock firmware via Odin. Just because it is not displaying or working does not necessarily mean it's lost for good. If the official restore doesn't work, then you might be need the box.
Thanks

Did you restore the stock rom via Odin yet? Or you're saying you did and it's still not working properly?

It's common to need to factory reset after a stock firmware install through Odin.
tried odin and factory reset also

Hello, I have a Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300) phone that is not feeling so well.
On startup it freezes indefinitely on the Samsung boot logo.
I am able to get into recovery and download mode.
In recovery I get errors - unable to mount Data, and unable to mount EFS.
The phone is recognized by the computer, both in Kies and Odin so flashing is possible.
It is not rooted and completely stock. Problem is that I don't know what version firmware it had.
There is unbacked information on the phone I'd like to recover.
What I've tried: Within Kies>Firmware upgrade and initialization (second option under tools) I enter the model number and then the serial, but I just get a message along the lines of "please check your model" (I entered GT-I9300).
The phone is generic international version from 2012, untouched (version-wise) since.
I very much appreciate any idea that might fix this. How can I find the right firmware? will it erase my memory? how can I restore the EFS partition?
Stock Rom

Will it work even though it is intended for Android 4.3? The phone originally came with 3.0 or 3.1
Also I believe flashing firmware will not fix EFS?
Jup
Yes it does. It comes with 4.0.4 out of the box And it will work

YES! the new firmware fixed it completely. It is a bit slow, but alas that's probably the phone itself.
To anyone looking in the future:
This problem was caused by a faulty battery - the phone would turn off while working all the time, and eventually it corrupted the data and efs partitions. To my luck upgrading to new firmware fixed the problem.
Thank you.:good:
