I tried searching the forums with no luck. My question is very straightforward: Are Samsung Galaxy S II custom roms compatible with the SGSII Plus?
Thanks in advance.
u mean are the i9100 roms compatible with the i9100p variant ? if yes then yes c: btw make sure ur phone is unlocked first before monkeying around with the roms
SII plus is slightly different than I9100.
Don't flash anything just yet.

I'm quite sure he didn't mean the I9100P, but the SII Plus

I am confused.
I bought myself a brand new Galaxy S2 in white color.
On the box it says GT-i9100. Color: Ceramic White. Made in Vietnam.
When I turn it on it says I9100, not i9100g.
So I want to flash ICS but I am a bit afraid as I am not sure whether it's i9100 or i9100G.
Does the i9100 exist in white? It's from Vodafone Germany, and comes with lots of bloatware.
Go to settings and then about, will tell you the model number.

Given everything else you've mentioned, if it says "I9100" on the sticker under the battery on the phone chassis, I think you can safely assume it's an I9100. Colour has nothing to do with it. For example, in Australia, carriers here sell the I9100 & I9100T and both are available in white.
Edit to add - Rizur is correct, if it has I9100 in settings then you've definitely got an I9100.

Thanks a lot. Well, it is a GT-i9100. So I think it's safe and I will flash through Odin to get rid of all the crapware it has.
Is there any ICS custom rom you recommend? (For battery and performance purposes) Or should I just go stock?
Thanks a lot!

Thanks! Well, I knew it all along, it's a I9100. But I just was confused.
There are many custom ROM's to choose from. But make sure you back up everything and read lots and lots.
You get Samsung based ROM's and Android Open Source Project ROM's, read up on differences and what can be expected from each ROM, including pros and cons.
Good luck!
Edit: if you already know all that^, then I suggest HyDrOG3N -ICS, I'm really enjoying it

Thanks I will try it out. First I'm going to install the stock version and if it's laggy, I will try the one you pointed out!
As I am on a Galaxy Nexus with AOKP, I wanna see how ICS stock performs on the Galaxy S2. It's not for me but for my brother, so I still want it to perform well

Howdy,
For testing purposes I want to load a pre-ICS ROM on my GalaxyS3. I need the flash built in that got dropped with ICS.
Has anyone tried this? If so, what are recommended ROMs?
If no one has done this, what ROMs are closest to what the S3 runs and would stand the greatest chance of working?
Thanks,
Joe
Presume this is a test to see how fast you can brick your SGS3 .
Adobe Flash player works on ICS .
jje
now this was a unique question. in the world of jb you are looking for gb
oh go on, do it, testing, testing

Like JJegan has already mentioned Adobe flash was dropped for JB not ICS
This is I think the 4th "can I put gingerbread on x" thread I have seen on xda, pretty sure its the second in the S3 forum and also there were two in the gnex forums if my memory serves me right.
As you can imagine they were met with complete and WARRANTED hostility.

to be equally fair, i'm in the same boat. i had a captivate for a while, loved the gb roms i flashed constantly to find my favourite. bought an s2 and absolutely love the phone. i hard bricked my previous s2, i dont think i had the right kernel, something i did was for a non canadian version of the s2. after i sold that one i bought another brand new s2. the s3 was around for a little while at this point but my girlfriend has a galaxy nexus and her sister an s3 and i just dont like the way ics and jb look, feel and operate. it felt like switching from windows to a mac after using windows for years. i would go to close a window and the 'x' was in the upper left and not right like windows.
its a personal opinion, i'm sure in many ways firmwares past gb are better in many quantifiable ways, but i just dont like em. not to mention the stupid physical home button like some loser iphone. i love the 4 backlit buttons that samsung uses on many devices like the blu ray player i have. it's just awesome.
anyway, long story short - is there any other demand worth warranting a dev to make a gb rom for phones past that version of android?
in closing, think of the amount of roms out there for the captivate which are based on froyo people still use. gb ics and even jb roms are available but many people still prefer the look and feel of froyo.
anyway, long story short - is there any other demand worth warranting a dev to make a gb rom for phones past that version of
Got a couple of thousand to spare might interest a dev otherwise not likely .
Try one of the developer forums where devs have a contact or question route .

I would say the 9100 is the best variant.
It has a great development section and is a great device

get the I9100P if you are interest in using the NFC feature in the future.
otherwise the international version is fine.
It truly Depends...
What you need and in what u are interested...
Like SGS II X and HD LTE have greater Hardware... But i9100 have best development support
Peace
Hit Thanks & It will Disappear

oK Guys im going to buy a new S2 of ebay wan basically wanted to know which version of the S2 is the best to buy
Depends on what country your in and intend to use it in, But generally I would recommend the international version GT I9100
The plain gt-i9100.
I have to agree with the above users. The international one is the easiest to handle when it comes to rooting, flashing etc A lot less hustle imho

hi all,
I need to update my wife's phone from ICS to JB by rooting/installing recovery and flashing a nice custom rom.
I have searched the S2 forum (she has i9100) and there are loaddddds of threads but donnu which one to use, donnu which is outdated and which is best way or new way to do so.
I have an xperia Z and have rooted and unlocked so I have a good idea about this, but I failed to find the suitable best way.
I would also appreciate a recommendation on which custom rom to install 4.1 or 4.2 or 4.3? and which rom to use.
I know am asking too much but I need to do this so soon as my wife is nagging me for a new phone and saying her phone is slow and doing strange things.
help will be much appreciated
A common way to root is to flash a custom kernel with Odin, and after this flash a rom via CWM. All can be found in the guides.
About the rom choice: it's up to you. 4.1.2 is Samsung based, and perfectly stable. 4.2 maybe too, but it's AOSP based, and 4.3 seems to be in the bèta stage now.

Strange things?? Lol..
Maybe you should choose an AOSP based custom ROM. That would make her phone smooth and fast as well as bloat-free.

Plenty of good options currently I favour sentinel Rom. It's basically cyanogenmod optimised for the S2

Don't turn this into a better ROM thread.

The guy did ask for a recommendation. sadly i lacked your insight into the rom preferences of an entire gender so that's me with egg on my face for mentioning a custom rom. I feel such a fool i may never post again. Is that cheering i hear?

Or they used to have Blackberry's, and now got iPhones.
As long as they've got candy rush (or crash, whatever) installed.
