Activation Question - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

What are the requirements for activating a phone on sprint when it comes to unlocked and rooted? I am trying to switch a unlocked and rooted EVO 4g to a different line and want to make sure I have it setup right. I know on the old evo it had to be a sense ROm but it could be rooted. Is there any such requirement on the LTE?
Thanks a ton for any help!!!

I think as long as you are on the stock rom, it should activate just fine.

So long as you're running a Sense ROM, you should have no issues.
The advice is free....the bandwidth, not so much

When I rooted via dirty racing a few weeks ago I had to call sprint to reactivate. I was on viper rom when I activated and it was fine.

Evo V 4G Questions

Just bought it and I love it, I just wanted to get a few questions out of the way as soon as possible.
1.) Is there any method available at this moment to root this?
2.) Which (If Any) ROMs will work on this from the Evo 3D CDMA Devs?
3.) Do I have to worry about radios while rooting/installing ROMS?
4.) Are there any recoveries available for this phone as of yet?
5.) Is there any way to use ICS's Panorama feature & ICS's Consistent Google Search Bar?
Thanks/Discuss
If VM leaks work on the sprint version, I'm guessing sprint ROMs work on a VM phone.
There should be a panorama option within the camera app, at least there is on the ics leak I'm using (sprint).
Your other questions... I don't know if anyone really knows the answer yet. It's too new sorta. The Virgin Mobile leaks of ice cream sandwich work on sprint, as was posted before me. I'm using one. So one would think it would work the other way around. I wouldn't flash any radios that aren't vm though.
As for rooting... Not sure. We don't have ice cream sandwich on sprint yet officially and no one has discussed rooting that from stock.

That's helpful, and its weird because my Evo V doesn't have the Virgin Mobile logo on the back like it did in the video, its weird and has the Sprint logo lol. No panorama that I found though, maybe because its the Sense 3.6 Camera apk and not the ICS one?
I have sense 3.6 virgin Mobile ics leak and it's there. It's under scene modes I believe.

I'm running the stock Virgin mobile leak and can confirm no panorama. There isn't even a scene modes thing.

There is no panorama under my scenes tab ):

What is your HBOOT, Radio version etc. I would think that if the HBOOT is a downgradable one or one you can unlock you can do everything the same as the Sprint version. There is literally no difference between the Sprint and VM versions as far as hardware. (I think )
I haven't checked for myself but other people say it's 1.57

Oh interesting... Maybe it's just an addition to my rom. Sorry.
But anyone on the official rom for vm not a leak, can you tell me if the front camera works right? What I get on the leaks I've used is the pic, when you view it, is reversed left/right. I hope they fixed this.

Root and S-off for HBOOT 1.57 HTC EVO V 4G Virgin Mobile

This is what I did for my VM HTC EVO V 4G ICS.
1. Root using this method. I stopped after flashing superuser zip. This gave me root, TWRP and superuser. I did not flash a custom rom or kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239821
2. 3. and 4. I did not flash any roms, kernels and TWRP is installed in step 1.
5. ? did not find panaramic.
6. Then I did this to obtain S-OFF
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1585846
7. I did not flash the new recovery included with the S-OFF
8. NOTE: I had to do the HTC unlock method again. I chose yes on the phone like before and then hit the power button but nothing happened. I then chose no and hit the power button and phone rebooted and showed Unlocked. I don't know why it doesn't do it exactly like the first time but it works.
9. This left me with my EVO 3D with phone unlocked and S-OFF. HBOOT was left stock 1.57 and phone remains rooted stock rom with flashed superuser.
10. I then booted up and replaced Superuser with Superuser SU in the market.
Good luck.

Questions for Noob to EVO LTE

Ok... so I gave up on HTC since they pretty much renegged on the unlock thing. The psudo-unlock deal sent me to Samsung and I am glad I left. However....
My girlfriend's friend has an HTC EVO LTE and I am about to embark on getting her a custom ROM. She definitely wants one. I am torn as to whether I should push it to full S-OFF or if I should go with HTC dev unlock. Can someone point out what she will be missing out on if it is not S-OFF?
Thanks.

She will have to manually flash kernel between roms and will be unable to flash radios without running an ruu. Can do almost everything else though.

to RUU or not RUU is the question.

Here's the situation, my phone is running great on SuperLTE or any other Sense rom. Excellent battery, no signal problems, no freezing, just a reliable piece of technology. The problem comes in when I try to run anything other than a stock style rom.
When I flash cm10, everything works good, except for sporadic mms sending and receiving. If I flash any of the miui builds I have a messaging LOS after a reboot that my phone can not recover from and a full wipe is required.
I have tried reflashing radios, prl and profile updates. Tried doing hands free activations. About the only thing I have not tried is running the RUU. Would this make any difference? I'm s-off with hboot 1.12, 1.12.11.0809 radio. With the JB update dropping any day should I just wait for the new firmware and try that first.
Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would read through the OP for CM10 and see if anybody else has had the same issues. If Sense-based ROM's work fine for you, I'd be inclined to say it's CM10, not your phone. Also, if and when JB drops, I'd wait for a rooted version from one of the devs, as opposed to losing root and potentially other issues.

Updating to hboot 1.19 could be worth a try. Its not like u have something to lose now that dirtyracoon is around..its very easy to run

This just drives me crazy. I know that every one of our phones are different, but many people don't have these problems. Makes a guy wonder what is different or messed up with mine.

[Q] Lack of 4g LTE

So I am a flashaholic, I admit it. And proud lol
However, I have noticed that I am no longer getting 4g/LTE connectivity. I keep getting network errors on pretty much every rom I try I have decent service in my area and my wife's Galaxy s3 is getting great service.
To get some service i have been switching to CDMA only is there something else I could do?
Tks

You could try update PRL & Profile.
Or RUU back and you still experience issues then go to Sprint to warranty it out.. Hope you get it fixed

I had the same problem until I updated radios that matched the ROM base I was using... I could nandroid back to earlier roms and have 4g, but new roms wouldn't connect reliably to 4g until I updated the radio to match. I'm S-On, so I just did the recovery flashable radio.
Thanks
Thanks folks so I am running the Super LTE Milestone 4.1 with Soff. My current Radio (Baseband is 1.12.11.0809 ) does anyone have any idea what radio I should be running with SuperLTE Milestone ?

Try doing a full update from this post --------> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704612&highlight=radios+jewel
Take every PRECAUTION when flashing radios PRI etc...., they are they easiest way to brick your phone!
It happened to me. After flashing mean 6.4 I lost LTE. The only way I could connect is by switching to CDMA only. I reflashed different roms, unrooted, updated the software, re rooted, soff again, fixed permissions, profile, prl, called sprint and did numerous resets.
In other words, I think its toast.
I'm headed to the sprint store in the morning.

Virgin flashed Sprint Evo resets to Sprint

I have an Evo 3D that I flashed to Sprint and it works fine on ICS ROMs but I cannot get JB or CM to work. They flash and start fine but they reset all the settings back to Sprint. I have tried ROMs that say Virgin and they do it also.
Is there something I can do to make the Virgin settings permanent? I an s-off.
I was able to use MIUI but did not like it.

I'm just taking a stab at this because I flash my device to another provider but the ROM probably has settings that are for Sprint built into the ROM itself. So, when you flash the ROM, it's settings those default options of the phone back to Sprint since that's what the ROM was built for...EVO 3D on Sprint. I could be wrong but that's my guess.
Yeah but it resets the ESN also.
Just a little more information. Everything gets reverted, ESN, MEID, all the things I have to change to work on Virgin.
Try dfs when you zero and write meid. Seems to stick better.

Use profile #1 instead of 0. While writing in qpst. For some reason the 3d always reverts back to #1

I shall try that. Thank you.
