ive been using my Neo L from 3 months, on the date 08-2-2012 i clicked a few photographs in the daytime and the photos came crystal clear, but suddenly during the nighttime i seen that my pictures were blurred out from the center, i checked the glass behind and to my notice i seen it was totally scratched. ive been using a cover body for the phone all the time yet it happened, any idea on how i can replace it and how much will it cost?
Thank you!

the same happened with my neo v, the problem is.sony has directly exposed the camera,it doesn't have any covering, however, take it to sony authorized service centre with us warranty details etc, simply say,the camera is fully scratched, don't say anything more, they wil replace it for free under warranty, u need to keep ur phone with them until they replace, it,for me they said, they had no camera stock, ultimately they took 1 month+ 10 days to return my repaired phone with new camera, it took a bit long, but they serviced it for free,I've been bit more cautious, since then, don't worry

Hi All,
I just bought the Photon 4G day before night and am loving it
But I realized that camera is showing a black patch on the screen... Its there in the file even when i take snaps as well as record videos Its set there permanently (same spot). Its somewhat translucent.
Please can anyone help me out fixing it cause its disappointing me somewhat
I have attached few images to let you guys know how it looks..
Oh and I think I dont need to point out the location of this ****. Its at the same spot in all the three images. In the second pic below the androids right leg...
P.S. Tried resetting the phone to factory setting, tried removing the battery.. No warranty for the phone. Bought it from Ebay India. Its the USA Sprint phone..
If cleaning does not help guess you will need a new one.

I did try cleaning it. The glass is absolutely flawless. So the main sensor / chip is defective i guess. I came across people facing, if not the same, but similar issues with their Android phones. I am not sure.
I hope I see someone who could manage to fix it or I'm totally out of luck. Have to live with that ass forever lol. Hope it doesnt expand any more!!!
you already stated you cleaned it ,so I will not beat that dead horse. If I were a betting man (I'm not really) I would say you have one of two issues.
1. (and I hope its not this) that phone was dropped and something broke or cracked internally.
2. Someone took it apart and lint or dust got between the lenses. Good Luck.
Althought #1 is possible, everyone I know with high end Smartphone treats them like 2 month old babies!

I dont think it has fallen... Its absolutely without any scratches or anything anywhere.. ANd the mark looks like a tiny butterfly! lol which is kinda transparent. I tried manually makin some marks on the camera lens with a blue marker pen, but that doesnt look the same at all. it just brings a blue hue (ink color) on the image. You cant see it as a mark (spot like in this case)..
And I'd like to mention one more thing. This thing, when I zoom it to the next level, it moves to the left and when I zoom it even more, it gets off the screen! (outside)Funny!
And about the dust thing, I really doubt..
Looks like dust on the sensor cant do ne thing unless u dismantle the whole camera module.

Strange I must say. We have Digital Zoom, not Optical. Is your phone Rooted with stock ROM?
Have you tried shaking it to see if the spot will move ??

I agree with farookh. If this were an SLR, I would say dust on the sensor and give you pointers on how to clean it. Since the sensor is internal here, you probably need to return it and get a new one versus voiding any warranty by trying it yourself.

OK. Let me tell a trick as former sprint store manager. I just used this to replace my epic so I know it still works.
If you have to phone active on your account call technical support about the phone. Tell them you are calling because a Rep at the store instructed you to call and do a "advanced exchange" on your device. Tell tech support that the store couldn't fix it and didn't have a replacement phone for you. Say they wouldn't exchange for new device and gave u a hard time. It is important to sound like your very unhappy. If they mention insurance, say your phone didn't qualify because the phone suffered no damage, it is a manufacturer defect as told to you by the repair Rep.
They may attempt to ask you what store u went to. Cut them off and say sir, I am not dealing with store again. U going in circles and feel everyone is spinning u and don't want to replace phone.
They will process advanced exchange and you swap phones through mail. They will send new one and you ship back old one.

If its dust and we only have digital zoom, shouldn't the spot still remain even after zooming? why does it move outwards
And I noticed 1 more thing yesterday... When I focus the camera (specifically that point!!) towards the sun, the spot just dissolves in the light and is not visible... Same is the case when I point it towards some very bright source.

Its stock ROM. I tried using a couple of camera apps, but still no luck. The spot appears on all. Do these apps use the same module used by the Default camera App? If yes, is there a way to reinstall the module.

Motorola India told me that they cant help me as this phone hasnt released here. They have no hardware and software support. They want me to co-ordinate with Motorola USA.
And when I lookup my phone's IMEI on motorola, I see that it is under warranty till Oct 2012...
Do you think I can get a replacement being here in India. I have the box, the manual and the handset.
I would snail mail moto and get a RMA or something in writing.

So i dropped my s3 today... well the day i dont have the otter box i drop it, and the screen crack making the phone not responsive and then the screen turned all blue
and so i found this store that replaces all of that for 190$ worth?
Do the screens become laggy, and should i just stick it out with my bb 9900 for the time being (im a student) and wait for the s4 to get lower and just pick one up
I picked up my s3 in march for 325$

Weird that you weren't allowed to post on the Q&A section cause you're already a senior member. But anyway since you got it on March then isn't it covered by warranty? Replacement screens on the internet are sometimes bogus unless your really know how to criticized the item being sold. I suggest that you bring it to Samsung for repair.

How much do you think the repairs at the Samsung centers are? I got. My. Phone off someone on kijiji and he got it from Hong Kong for dirt cheap and then I found out the pho was from France pretty sure from Orange. I'm not really the type of person that wants armatures to replace my screen... But the phone is like 300$ now and I do love my phone because no one else I know has the Grey one and I can't sell it on eBay because I have personal things in it, or should I just keep it as a decoration and buy a s4 when it's lower....
I don't know what to do... Is it really worth 200$ to fix a phone that I can get for 300$ but I wonder if they'd fix everything else because I've been having signal problems

Better go and ask them about it as I haven't really encountered bringing in a phone for repair. And if you ask me if it's really worth it to repair a phone for almost half the price when you bought it... well... I think i'll pass and just get a new one because you'll encounter more issues afterwards. Of course it's a different issue when you send it Samsung for warranty issues.

If you take it to a Samsung supported repair shop they will know its under warranty by the imei and serial number. You wont even need to have the reciept if you got it from someone else.Same happened to me once.If you want to replace the screen yourself then buy one on ebay for 140 bucks and do it yourself with a video tutorial from youtube. Its not that hard mate.
Ive changed a few screens for friends with ones from ebay and they are perfectly good and dont have any problems at all.Run perfectly and you save heaps too.

If its under waranty it should be free.Otherwise get a screen from ebay for 140 and fix it yourself and then try and sell the phone for 250.
250 + the 60 you saved will be 310 to go to an S4 at least mate.Id see if its covered first and then you will have a working phone to sell + 200 bucks.

Yeah mate all warranty coverage is free if its something like a hardware issue. If you drop it and they can tell then its up to them but if you dont have any marks on the side that makes it look like it has been dropped then just say that it wont start for some reason.
The bad thing is if it has been rooted and flashed and you havent reset the binary counter. Then if they see that they will most likely send you a letter asking you to pay cos that will mean you have lost the warranty.

Yeah mate if they know its the screen from an accident then they wont fix it.If you want to purposely brick your phone and say it has SDS (sudden desth syndrome) thats up to you but you may want to just fix it yourself if you cant find a non-samsung store that will do it for cheap..meaning screen + labour maybe 200 bucks.
Better to start looking at youtube videos.
Hi, I am just posting this out of frustration and to share my experience with Sony. I bought a non-contract, sony Xperia Ultra Z outright from the Sony store in the middle of October and a month and a half later the touchscreen became completely unresponsive. I could see that I was still receiving text messages however, so I assume the other functionality of the phone was still working. I called into Sony and over several hours of troubleshooting and repairing via PC Companion it was determined I had to send in the phone for repair, which I was quite reluctant to do but had no other choice. I sent it in and had the case escalated to a supervisor level and was ensured that the case would be expedited with the repair facility... three weeks later and still nothing but the runaround with Sony representatives and supervisors. Furthermore, it took numerous calls to Sony to convince them to send me a loaner phone while my Xperia Z was being repaired. Once the loaner was received, it would not even connect to the internet and consequently, I'm sending it back to Sony. Though the supervisors are polite and empathetic, they have promised numerous times to call me back with an update on the status of my repair (RMA), but don't. I'm frustrated firstly, because the phone stopped working so quickly after I purchased it. Mostly though, I'm disappointed with the way Sony has handled the situation. Its been disorganized on Sony's part. Now, i'm still stuck without a phone and no status on the repair for my phone... I doubt I will buy a Sony product ever again. I even doubt I'll see my phone again, it's absolutely ridiculous, especially given that there was zero water or physical damage to the unit. It boggles my mind why it's taking so long as I have been told the repair center is 'looking at it' for two weeks now. I've read about Sony's evaluation process online somewhere, and in my judgement it should have been completed already and a decision rendered. Ridiculous.

Still no progress with Sony. They tell me that the repair centre is still "looking at it". Which is clearly b.s., it doesn't take two weeks to evaluate it and render a decision on their next step. Who even knows if anyone has truly even looked at it yet!
I am wondering, does anyone know what obligations Sony has in regards to the manufacturer's warranty? Things such as max. time for repair? Loaner phones and the type of loaner phone provided? Just looking for information to help me get them to expedite either a) replacing the phone or b) sending me a loaner that is a XZU, or c) fixing mine and sending it back asap

Sorry for hijacking thread
I am having dead or stuck pixel whatever it is called in the middle of the screen. Its greenish in color and clearly visible on Sony startup screen on the black background. So wanted to know whether Sony will entertain it and change the handset?

Thanks. I read somewhere that there need to be minimum 2 dead pixels to get the phone replaced so was asking as service center is about 10kms from my home.
On my previous xperia z there were 8 dead pixels so they replaced without asking any questions.

Hahaha.... hope dont get need to. Well its not visible in daily usage as I keep low brightness ,its just visible in start up screen so doesnt affect the usage.
So if I ignore this one pixel is there chance that this dead pixel will result in more dead pixels? As you cant be sure replacement device will have more dead pixels.

No, they don't multiply
If the replacement device has one, then refuse to accept the replacement. They'll have to get you another one.

Got new replacement same day but screen on this is yellowish compared to my previous zu which was pure white.I didnt went to pick the phone so didint check on the spot.
Now I am regretting replacing the phone. Would have lived wwith that one dead pixel instead of this yellowish screen. Any way to convince service centre people for yellowish screen?

Ask them to compare the display on your device to another display. Most probably they will have the old phone lying around - ask them to compare with that one if possible or another one. Insist on checking, they will try to say that the display is like that only and nothing's wrong with it!

Went to service center they didnt have any device to compare and said it looks fine to them. They were not ready to replace so what are the options left as this yellowish screen is really frustrating me after using pure white display earlier.
My Xperia Z2 vibration is not working... suddenly it stopped.. I have already done factory reset and turning the phone one and off quite a few times... I would gladly appreciate if someone please suggest me any kind of solutions for this problem... thank you...
rma it. There isn't any solution. Unless you open the phone and change vibra mechanism.

or you could send to sony for a free repair as this is known as a manufacturing issue and is covered by sonys 2 year warrenty which comes with all xperias
all you are required to have is proof of purchase and the device its self (also a sony service centre in your country)

Rma is Return merchandise authorization. It just means returning the device to the company for refund, repair or replacement.

That's just what I said with fewer words
Hi Guys,
My Z2 is not auto focusing on anything further than about 15cm away, just get a blurry pic.
I don't get the green block or anything like it anymore and cant say if its attempting.
I have tried different ROM's custom and standard but no difference as well as locked and unlocked bootloaders.
The question is, is the autofocus part of the camera hardware?
I can pick up a Z2 camera for around $40 but don't want to import if its not going to help.
Extra info before people ask:
1) Yes it went for a swim and got condensation inside (+- 2 months ago)
2) No proof of purchase so cant get it replaced by Sony
Any ideas ?

Thanks for the reply !
So i take it the Auto focus is built into the Camera module. This is easy to replace if its in there.

Eeeehhh, a $800 is somewhat at stake but thats your decision
My guess is a faulty sensor its self cause its one unit as well as the fact that others have had the exact same issue
