UPDATE: It all worked fine!
First of all, I am sorry if this question has already been answered. Yes, I have searched for it and found some answers but this is just to make sure everything's alright.
Anyway, since I bought a new phone this X-mas I have put my Galaxy S2 in a locker and, although I am not a newbie in this scene, I just wanted to make sure I don't mess up the whole procedure. It is just that I have never had to go back to stock.
So, what I need to do is make the phone run 100% Stock (Official 4.1.2 JB) again because I am planning to sell it next week.
Currently the phone is rooted, has CWM recovery installed and is running a custom AOSP 4.1.2 ROM with Dorimanx V7.27 kernel.
Is it true, to go back to stock I'd have to do the following:
1. Wipe data/factory reset, Wipe Cache Partition
2. Flash the stock .tar image file using Odin
Did I miss anything?
UPDATE: It all worked fine!
Sounds good to me

I recommend to flash a stock/official ROM to your phone.
Then root will be lost.
You can download Official ROMs from SamMobile, but you will need to register before.
Or you can have a look into Intratech's Offical Firmware thread here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Please read his first post carefully.
Then decide which ROM to flash.
As you want to bring it back to "normal", you should use a ROM from the second post "Official Firmwares".
Just flash the ROM using Odin - like described by Intratech.
Nothing special.
Maybe you want to wipe everything to go back to factory settings.
Then you should do a hard reset after flashing by dialing *2767*3855# into your phone's dial pad.
But you can alternatively do a factory reset in recovery mode - also after flashing the stock ROM.
Good luck !
Hey mate thanks for the reply, i backed up my original rom using rom manager flashed back to it....but i still have root and i want to remove it. Can i just flash the insecure kernel and using super one click do the job???/.....NOTE I HAVE clock work mod recovery flashed already........
I have a few problems and Q:
-I need to send my tab P7510 in for service(newton rings)
-Installed Official ICS UK rom with ODIN since it was not yet available in the Netherlands with Kies
1. Flashed this rom7510XWKL1_P7510LUXKL1 which gave a boot loop.
2. Then wiped userdata and cache with cwm and flashed again with this rom.
3. Again boot loop.
3. Flashed rom: P7510XEULPH_P7510XXLPH worked perfect
4. Flashed rom7510XEUKL2_P7510XXKL2, again boot loop
-Will a service center be asking Q when I have a UK rom installed?
-Any pointers how to roll back to 3.2?
-Does the binary counter has to be reset?

Sounds like you'll want to go back to 3.2 stock. You should be able to get the 3.2 stock ROM from Sammobile. Now I'm not the expert here, but as far as I'm aware all you need to do is
1) boot into download mode
2) Flash the stock ROM with Odin. This post will likely help.
3) Boot into stock recovery, do a full wipe and you should be out-of-the-box clean.
Now I've never had to do it but I've read enough about it here on XDA. Hope this helps!

I have no trouble flashing the ICS UK rom. It is the 3.2 roms from UK and Luxembourg which give trouble.
But then again:
-Will a service center be asking Q when I have a UK rom installed?
-Does the binary counter has to be reset?
Sorry, misread your post. I doubt Samsung would care if what they find on the device is what was there when it was new, period.
I would also say yes, reset your binary if you're sending it to service. They would know that you've been mucking about otherwise, if they decide to read the counter. If anything, it would be safest I'd think.
Well, it seems there is no tested or proofed method for resetting the counter on the TAB. On the otherhand, I have found posts that the chance is very small Samsung will make a big deal out of it. Have not found a posting yet of someone telling his guarantee was rejected because of his counter. What I find strange is that the counter is raised after using 2 roms from sammobile. That shouldn't be custom roms????
Well, going to make a service request today and hope all will be fine.
Hi, I'm coming from an epic 4g touch (Sprint s2) and trying to figure out how to flash a friend's att s2. He already has a custom gingerbread ROM on there, but wants to upgrade to cm10. Since I know it's fairly easy to brick if flashing the wrong ROM, can someone give me a quick rundown of what's needed to upgrade? I'm not familiar with hellraiser or any other terms specific to this phone, but I've used odin many times. If you can point me to a ROM with cwm that I can odin, then go to cm10, that'd be appreciated. Thanks
Download rom. Reboot into recovery. Wipe data/ factory reset. Flash rom. Profit.
Make sure you flash a rom for i777.
Also, a nandroid backup before flashing is always a good idea.
Let's also hope he has an i777 and not a sky rocket
Is this possible? The full details are I had my phone stolen, and got a new one with android 4.0.4 on it. I have on my computer a copy of my latest backup of my old cognition gingerbread rom. Can I just use CWM to recover to my old rom, or do i need to first downgrade to a gingerbread rom, and then recover?
Thankyou very much for assistance
Edit: Also, I don't actually want to use the old rom, I just need the contacts it saved, afterwards I'll wipe everything and install a clean ICS mod. In case there's any way of doing this without having to revert
You'll probably need to restore the backup with a version of CWM close to the one the backup was made with, you can often have problems restoring if you're using a CWM version a lot (say 12 mths or more) newer than the one you made the backup with.
So I'd probably go GB/with a rooted GB kernel first, restore the backup & go from there. I mean, it could work first try with an ICS kernel that's running a recent CWM build, but there's a fair chance it won't.
Edit - And be really careful with stock 4.0.4, don't do a wipe while you're running that.
Wow. I just... wow.
Ok, so I did the stupid thing and just tried to restore my old backup without doing proper downgrading first and it ended up soft bricking my machine, couldn't get recovery mode up, but I got into download mode. So I downloaded my country's stock gingerbread rom from samsung's site and flashed it with odin just to see what happens, and somehow my old rom was working again, and I have all my contacts and data. saved everything up to google, upgraded to ICS, import.
Everything went better than expected.
Thanks for the help
Told you Important thing is you managed to fix it yourself without asking silly questions in Q&A. Not many people seem to be able to do that these days.
Well done. I'm glad you got it sorted
Edit -You're welcome
I normally don't post unless I've exhausted every other option.
But this issue I am having has completely baffled me, and I really have exhausted every thing I know.
I was going through a rash of flashing roms on my I9300.
After finding an issue downgrading from 4.2.2 back down to 4.1.2. I Odin back to stock... so I though ok lets have another go at it.
However... Every ROM I flash will not boot (ie stuck @ Samsung I9300 screen). The flash goes well, MD5's are all ok, and I made sure to wipe data and cache like I've don't 500 times b4 on a dozen different phones.
I've even tried keeping the stock rom, simply rooted and just flashing another kernel both speedmod and siyah for 4.1.2... no go... no boot. I'm not quite sure what the issue is as it boots just fine on stock.
Any opinions?
Did you do a full wipe?
(Factory reset, Format system, cache, data and preload)
Sent from my GT-I9305 using XDA Premium HD app
Yep, full wipe each time, I even went so far as to format internal SD from CWM, just in case there was anything lingering.
did you try a mega wipe (will erase anything besides ext. sd)?
did you try to run a custom rom with stock kernel (as I understand stock rom & kernel are working?)?
Yep everything has been wiped down to the core.
And yes stock rom runs fine, and boots fine right off of odin, and even after running CF-Root.
I only get this no booting issue when trying to flash any other rom, even ones that I've previously flashed today b4 my first odin back to stock.
It def has something to do with the soft brick I recovered from earlier today, but I'm just not sure how or why, since I wiped everything and re flashed with odin.
Must be missing something tho.
Edit: Will try Flashing UltimaRom again with default setting and stock kernal see if anything changes.
Ok well i'm not really sure what I did, but I wiped everything again, from data to cache, to preload.
Reflashed ultimarom, this time on stock kernel, and whalha! Boot!
Then went back and flashed Siyah 1.8.9, and that booted ok aswell.
Not quite sure what the problem was but it seems to have been fixed.
Maybe phone was just being moody after all the flashes today!
Thanks for your help!
