You'll have to flash the boot.img that's located in the zip file that contains the jb rom you flashed.
In order to do that (I'm assuming your s on) you will need a computer with htc drivers installed and the android sdk containing the adb and fastboot executables.
I'd recommend hitting someone up on pm or gtalk to talk you through it.

Here is a link to a post where I attached what you need to use fastboot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37515020&postcount=444
Put this folder in your root directory. You can rename it to whatever you want.
You can pull the boot.img from the ROM zip file on your computer and put it into the folder you downloaded from the link above.
Go into CMD on your pc and cd to the folder above.
Then boot your phone into hboot by holding the vol down +power until you see the white screen of hboot. Select "fastboot".
Once you are in fastboot on the phone, connect it to your pc. Use the following command on your pc in the CMD window:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
That will flash the kernel and hopefully solve your problem. Reboot and cross your fingers.

Yea what they^ said. You have to fastboot flash the boot.img
Here is a useful guide that might help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=879701
Good luck

I fixed it about about an hour after posting this thread running 4.2.2 smoothly.

[Q] [HELP] cant ruu or flash rom

Ok so i just bought a evo 3d off Craigslist and it was flashed to cricket and had revolutionary recovery with a custom rom installed and hboot says unlocked and im running hboot 1.5 and s-on... i messed up and flashed a stock rom and didnt bacup the previous rom so now im without a rom and cant get any to bootup they flash and then start bootlooping and ive tried multiple ruus and none give me the option to update... please help
If you are having issues with your current ROM. You could always run the ROM Upgrade Utility (RUU) found in the link below.
http://bit.ly/u3pMEN
Make sure to download the correct file.
(RUU_Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.17.651.5_Radio_1.06.00 .1216)
After it has finished downloading. Re-lock your phone.
Then run the RUU.exe
This will take you back to the Stock HTC 2.17.651.5 ROM.
DO NOT DISCONNECT YOUR DEVICE DURING THE PROCESS. IT COULD BRICK YOUR DEVICE.
Remember this will delete all your current data/apps so use TWRP on the android market to back up all your downloaded content. Only if your going to unlock you device again because you need to root your phone to use TWRP.
do i have to have android sdk installed?
You should.
I would recommend downloading the rootevo3dnew.zip file and place it on C:\ Drive.
(You can download the file from here)
http://bit.ly/HCPFRW
Dont forget to enter Fastboot USB first.
Now type these commands on cmd.
cd c:\rootevo3dnew
then type.
fastboot oem lock
Your device should reboot.
Dont let it reboot
Wait about 10 seconds than take off the battery.
Enter hboot once again by pressing Vol down then power button.
Go into Fastboot USB and then run the RUU.
ive tried that it never reconizes the rootevo3dnew.. thats why i was wondering if i needed androidsdk installed
1.Did you unzip the file?
2.Is the rootevo3dnew folder placed in C:\?
does the hole folder need to be in c? cuz ive tried it in the zip file and unzipped to c drive and both no go

Yes. put the rootevo3d.zip file in C:\ then unzip it.
Once thats done try the commands i gave you.
Post back with your error(if you end up getting one)
it worked that time but just says waiting on device
Is your device in Fastboot USB?
yea its red and says fastboot usb
Try this. Reboot your phone and turn debugging on.
Take out the battery and go back to Fastboot USB
Also run the HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe file in the rootevo3dnew folder if you have windows.
thank a lot man my problem was i didnt have the drivers installed...
No problem. Pm if your having any other issues
@all :
forgot me if this one is a stupid question..

- and the other things that i've found in this lovely forum..

Red Triangle after DL OTA ICS

I'm being lazy here. I'm a Motorola guy and screw with my Bionic daily so I offered to help thinking a driod's a driod boy was I wrong! My friend has a Rezound that is stock OS but is rooted, unlocked and S-on. The other day when he got the OTA for ICS it left his phone with a black screen with a red triangle and an exclamation point.
I've scoured google and forums but I just can't wrap my head around this HTC stuff. So I'm being lazy and asking what to do. Can someone tell me in total idiot terms how I can help this guy get his ICS update? We've given up all hope and expect that everything will be lost root, data, and anything else so hit me with the easiest way to flash this update.
TIA

That's exactly what I was looking for! Couple of questions I saw in another post somewhere where I needed to rename the ruu file to something specific? Step 7 boot into recovery it that the pow + volume up? Also what about root and lock and stuff will that not matter with this method?

And yeah make sure it is named PH98IMG.zip (make sure it isn't a .zip.zip) and place it on the sd card not in any folders, and then boot into hboot which is power + vol. DOWN.
Step #8 demand payment from your friend cuz you just debricked his phone
Edit: I forgot to add that when your finished flashing the ruu he must re unlock the bootloader if he wants to flash custom roms. I assume he knows how since it was unlocked when he gave it to you

You need to flash the kernel separately. Grab boot.img installer or use fastboot. Reboot the phone and hold power+volume down to get into the bootloader, then select recovery. I'm not familiar with boot.img installer but with fastboot you extract the boot.img from the rom and place it in the adb folder and with the phone in fastboot and in the terminal type fastboot flash boot boot.img

You were trying to run android debug commands in hboot and you fixed it with a stock kernel? Because that's what my post is referring to
If fastboot and adb don't see your device, make sure you have JAVA installed. That's what confounded me, initially.

That's because you have to change the path of where your cmd prompt is looking. If you haven't changed it then it wont find adb inside of sdk. change the pathway so it looks inside SDK then looks inside the tools folder or whatever folder contains the adb.exe. After its changed correctly it will find adb

You have to install the kernel separately when you're S-on. You can do this in fastboot. Just take the boot.img from the ROM you're flashing and put it in your ADB tools folder. Using fastboot, use the command 'fastboot flash boot boot.img'.

HTC 4G LTE S-Off and still cant load roms
Just completed the dirty racun install and now have s-off. I have tried 2 roms cynanogen 10.0 stable and jellybam 7.6.2. On cyanogen, I get just as far as with the s-on. Just the logo. With the jellybam, it seemed to install, loaded the apps that was earlier on the phone using the mean bean that was restored earlier. Anyone know of a reason why the custom roms wont install?

the .exe utilities can be finicky,so if you have trouble getting it to run, you can extract "rom.zip" in the following manner:
-start the utility
-check the "i understand" box to move on to the next screen
-hide the utility temporarily out of site
-search your C drive for "rom.zip". you will find it in a temporary location(it will be in a different spot each time you run the utility)
-open the folder location, and transfer rom.zip to a safe location on your PC.
-unhide and cancel the utility, youre done with it.

you can use this if you dont have an operational phone as well. you just need to manually put the phone in fastboot(select from hboot menu) then skip the "adb" commands and start with fastboot devices
to answer your other question, yes, you will need to re-unlock and re-install recovery after running the RUU. an ruu is designed as an "unroot" solution, or emergency fix,if other attempts have not made the phone operational.
