I plan to keep my evo 3d always connected to the tv (mostly for splashtop)
I was wondering if there is any JB or even ICS ROM with MHL and USB host support. Currently I am on a miui ROM which to my dismay doesn't seem to support mhl
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

At the moment I don't have otg cable in hand. I will buy one and experiment. But even then, i don't know what 3g dongle it will support if at all? I am having one tablet without 3g but it supports 3g dongle and I am able to enjoy Internet via dongle. That's why I am curious whether s2 will also support.

SGSII doesn't give full voltage for otg. I know it because some keyboards work and some doesn't

Thanks rayman112. I am specifically asking about usb 3g dongle. I don't use keyboard or mouse.
If you're interested in reception, then it will be the same. Signal strength will not be stronger.
Okay huge question.
Can it be done on SGS2 ?
I've seen it's supported by various tablets & there are driver updates out there for certain devices
It basically doesn't work with PPP Widget on my device using Jellybam latest version.
I use a Huawei Digi Net Mobile USB Modem. Quite similar to Vodafone ones
Maybe one of you can help?

So any of the new JB ROMs support WiFi tethering? I need it for my tablet on the go. I was told that neos TRON rom had a working WiFi tether but my tablet doesn't even see the connection. Thanks in advance

Try [ROM][Unofficial] CM10.1 for HTC Rezound [2-9-13]
native tether/hotspot and the newest PDAnet+ both working for me

I am using this ROM as well. WiFi tethering works great with my Galaxy Tab 7 2.0 (running cm10.1)!

OK thanks I'll give it a shot

It works, but only when using ad-hoc instead. I've also read that 4.2.1 roms have a bug where 4g drops and requires an airplane toggle to reconnect as well. So stay with cm9 or sense based roms if either of those is an issue for you.

Ad hoc is a wireless network mode. Normal wireless mode is infrastructure where you have an access point that everything connects to which manages data exchange similar to a switch. Ad hoc is a mode where computers connect to each other and handle their own data exchange and collision avoidance. "Normal" tethering works in infrastructure mode where the phone becomes an access point. Computers support connecting through ad hoc, but very little else does. Most tablets and gaming devices only support connecting to infrastructure.
Hi, I was wondering if I would be able to use an HDMI to micro usb cable with my Evo 4G LTE. I have CM10.2 installed; would that hinder the use of it? Thanks in advance!
Sure you can if its an MHL type micro usb to HDMI. Google is your friend You can find those cables on eBay or Amazon for cheap. I believe EVO is 5 pin version while Samsung is the 11 pin version. Good luck!

Would anyone know of a ROM or kernel for the 5X which enables usb ethernet connectivity, ie with the usb ethernet drivers which stock android comes with?
I'm also interested, as I've got an adapter from my Nexus 7.... Hmmm.... ?
