Sony Xperia Go, bricked to Sony logo screen - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hello everyone, it's noob number #16723009. This poor noob in question was so fascinated by the world of rooting , kernels and roms, so he got a bit too far ahead of himself! So I experimented with rooting my Sony Xperia Go and trying a few different Rom's. End result: Sony bootscreen brick.
And unfortunately no backups were made.
So this is order of actions:
1) root with Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18 XDA link
2) installed Clockwork Mod recovery XDA link
3) in CWM Recovery wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache
4) in CWM Recovery install zip from sdcard: Speedydroid v15 XDA link , in Aroma I deleted "unnecessary" bloatware (resulting with a semi-functional rom, nice fast and snappy but for instance pictures didn't open)
5) Same procedure as nr 3.
6) in CWM recovery install zip from sdcard: TheBrainsRom v4 XDA link , (resulting in a continous loop between sony and the rom bootscreen).
7) PANIC PANIC! in CWM recovery under mounts and storage menu : format system or format cache (don't remember)
Finally resulting me with a phone, which hangs at SONY logo. Volume up + powerbutton reset works.
I tried Flashtool's flashmode to install the stockrom, resulting in red" ERROR, flash aborted" in the log. Sometimes the Sony PC companion popup with " Sony xperia go connected" comes up while I'm trying to flash, but it disappears in ~5 secs. So when I hold the Volume Down button when I connect the usb cable, the indicator light does go Green, but it turns red in ~5 sec and the phone goes back to the SONY logo

I also tried PC companion "repair my phone" option. Nothing just happens after Vol Down + usb cable in procedure.
Also the same problem with Sony Update Service.
I have googled and read stuff about this issue for solid 8 hours, no one seems to have the same exact issue. Should I start thinking of it as paperweight or is there hope ?

U r not connecting the phone properly while flashing
Make sure phone is off and disconnected
Go to flashtool and select ur file and click flash
Now it will prepare files and ask u to connect ur phone
When it asks ,make sure ur phone is switched off
Just press the volume down button ( keep it pressed) and connect to usb and wait for flashing to b finished

Did you try to post in the same thread you got the instruction?
So have unplug the device but the LED green light is on? the Vol+ & power together till three vibrates didn't work?
Yes thats right if i unplug the device the LED goes out but when i push the power button it just flashes green and nothing happens, I've tried the volume up + power it vibrates 3 times like normal but when i push the power button the same happens green LED flash
no I haven't tried that I'll post it in there now cheers for the advice
flash the firmware again, and when you plug in the phone, hold the volume down button only, you dont have to hold the power one, it should go into flash mode now

unplug the cable from your phone, then hold the vol + and power till vibrates three times. now your phone is off,
lunch flashtool and initiate the flashing process with ICS firmware and hold vol - and plug the phone in, see if that works.
Sony developer on the forum believe that no one could hardly brick a Sony phone.
it wont let me flash ftf as it keeps dropping out of flashmode then re entering it flashtool is saying
-ERROR flashing aborted
-device disconnected
-device connected in flashmode
over and over again, I can get it into fastboot mode is there anyway I can re flash ftf in fastboot through cmd?
I think the battery might be dead now when I connect it all i get is a red LED
Hello!
It appears I have the same issue with xperia pro. After flashing the official 4.0.4 rom with flashtool the log says:
Code:
27/032/2012 15:32:18 - INFO - Flashing finished.
27/032/2012 15:32:18 - INFO - Please wait. Phone will reboot

27/032/2012 15:32:18 - INFO - Device connected in flash mode
The phone doesn't respond, the green led is on.
Have you been able to restore the phone functioning?

Calm down dude. Grab flashtool. Set flashmode and choose your stock ROM. And just flash it through vol down key and plug in USB to your phone. It is just a soft-brick. No need to worry much.

@Ali Suhaimi
Id the phone turned off before you start flashing?
Did you install the drivers from flashtool located in drivers directory? You need to install 4, the one for Sola and flash and fastboot mode that are at the bottom of the list.
Before you flash just leave flashtool open and connect in flash mode, and see it stays connected for about 45 seconds.
Yes i've done all.. but the problem is i forgot to enable USB Debugging before flashing it.. and now the flashtool need the USB debugging to be enabled and i cant turn on the phone,.

[Q] Please help my Xperia Ray wont boot. Flashing gone wrong. What to do?

Hello all.
Please help me. I've committed a grave mistake. I bought my Xperia Ray about 2 months ago(It stopped showing up in retail stores, bought it online for a good price from a reputed online store, brand new.) After loads of thinking and looking at the pros and cons, and gaining some basic knowledge, I decided to root it today. I was following this guide: [Link] I'm new so XDA wont let me put it. Google Root Your Xperia Phone Without Voiding Warranty. Click the first link. Site is mytechencounters.wordpress.com.
Everything was going well. Sort of. Flashtool would show an error while trying to flash. I installed the drivers from the flashtool drivers folder, connected my phone in flash mode and started flashing. Then I realized that wipe data, wipe cache and wipe app log were checked. So I disconnected my phone. It was about 40-60 % done. Now it is not switching on. When I hold the power button, it gives that short vibration like it's supposed to before switching on, but it doesn't switch on. When I connect it, flashtool shows phone connected then disconnected again and again in its log. I hope I haven't bricked my phone. Please help me. Stock ROM 2.3.4. Build Number: 4.0.2.A.0.62
Please help me. My dad is away for a few days. If he returns and finds out, I'm dead! :crying:
Thanks in advance.
can you still get in to flashmode? take out the battery, wait for about 30 seconds and reconnect in flashmode (connect usb to pc first, the connect phone to usb while holding volume down) the LED light should turn green if you're in flashmode.
If you can enter flashmode, you can easily flash back the stock rom and kernel and have your phone running again.

It does seem to get into flash mode. How do I make it return to stock?
****. Flash mode seems messed up. I looked around the web, and found out that I can go back to stock using PC Companion. I tried that but neither that nor anything else will work because the phone disconnnects and reconnects again and agian and again on its own. I tried other USB ports too but same problem. Oh God I'm doomed I've bricked my phone just after 2 months! :crying: :crying: :crying:

Thanks I'll try that out. The guy says that I have to uninstall PC Companion and Sony drivers before installing SEUS. Necessary? Because installing them was a pain. Also, SEUS will install the latest ROM. Does that mean ICS? I really don't want ICS right now. Stock 2.3.4 with Build Number: 4.0.2.A.0.62 is what I need.

I don't bricked (yet) my ray, so i don't know. I think you must uninstall them, to get new drivers working. If SEUS (or SUS) flashed new rom and is ICS, then you can allways flash GB ftf any time you want via flashtool.
Or you can try this one!! Turn your brick into a smartphone

I think this won't work, because it's necessary to flash after doing an ota update on unlocked bootloader...
@OP have you installed all drivers from flashtool -> drivers? Try it on another PC and connect the phone only after there is the popup to connect. Turn phone off, hold volume down and while holding it plug the usb, it will start flashing automaticly
If this won't work, bring it to a local shop or send it to sony and you can hope they will repair your software :good:

I guess I have to go to the service center after all. Let's give this one last shot though.
If you've followed this thread from the beginning, you know my phone wasn't booting. So, I installed SEUS and clicked update while my phone was connected. SEUS downloaded and installed the latest official ICS ROM. My phone started and was working alright(I anticipated all the lag and instability, no surprises there). Now, I tried to downgrade back to GB, specifically to the .42 build. My phone came with .62 out of the box. .42 since I was going to root, then do an OTA update to .62. There. A happy, rooted GB phone. Now, I have everything needed to flash it. Tried flashing it to GB .42 but alas. here is my log:

According to the log it looks like you have connected phone before selecting the ftf, right? Select the ftf first and only after the popup appears, now hold volume up and while holding volume up connect phone with usb to pc!
Some users had problems, because they connected their phones too early...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43897224
You need to be in flashmode to flash something
This means take out the battery, wait a few seconds, insert it again, hold volume down and while holding volume down connect the phone to your pc. The green led will indicate you are in flashmode.
Then you click in flashtool on the flash - flashmode - select the .ftf for your device (mini, st15, smultron) and click OK.
When it has finished flashing you should be able to boot up your phone
Or even better and easier would be the repair option in PC Companion or Sony Update Service :good:

Okay mihahn , i've tried to flash in flashmode with flashtool
I've downloaded the Stock Firmware 4.0.2.a.0.42 and put that .ftf to folder: /firmwares
But when the device connected to USB PC, the log status was:
Need to switch to MSC Mode
Need to switch to USB debugging ON
Can I do this flashing without switch to ON USB debug & switch to MSC Mode?
I still confuse
And the step to press volume down when connecting to PC doesn't available
Plase help me, thanks a lot

You don't need to enable anything
In flashtool do what I told you, select the ftf etc and click ok. There'll be a windows that tells you to connect the device in flashmode.
Now you take the battery out of your phone, wait a few secs, insert it again and now just press volume down and connect it via usb to your PC. Don't power it on! Just press volume down while it's turned off and connect the usb
It will automatically start flashing and when it's finished, unplug your device and start it. If it won't start flashing because it doesn't recognize your device, go to the flashtool installation folder - drivers and install all drivers for all modes/devices again. Then try to flash the firmware like I told you :good:

[Q] Xperia P stuck at bootloop, CWM inaccessible

When I try to boot my phone, the sony logo shows up and then nothing happens. I have CWM installed but pressing vol. down doesn't open the recovery. I tried to flash stock firmware using flashtool, but when I connect phone in flashmode/fastboot mode, the phone connects properly for about 10 seconds, then boots and again stuck at sony logo.
I know I'm supposed to connect only when flashtool says to connect the phone, and doing just that but still not working. Please help!

@hoodakaushal
I assumed you used it before, I asked if you have used it on that PC.
Try latest version of flashtool: http://www.flashtool.net/
See the FAQ for instructions to install on windows 8.
Also, USB 3 ports won't work, so use USB 2 ports or if you don't have those look at the BIOS for option to switch from xHCI to EHCI.

Pass through the USB slot that the phone uses to the virtual machine, then it will got realised, install the universal naked drivers (you can google it, it is on xda plenty places.) after the installation you can flash the factory ftf with the flashtool. I don't know that in fastboot or flash mode (I think fastboot) but try it. The virtual machine uses designated space, so you need to pass over the necessary files to it.

According to the PC companion on the desktop the problem will be, that you use the original Sony drivers. Use the ones bundled in the flashtool, those are the ones that works. Go into device manager and remove the drivers currently installed (and of course the PC companion). Install the drivers you found bundled with the flashtool (install fastboot, flash, adb scomm and P drivers).
Now retry. I don't remember what combination you must use (I remember volUP+plug in).

This is a virtual PC so you need to pass through the USB each time you plug in-out the device (but you can automate it at the VirtualBox manager when plugged in on win8). If you have an old laptop or anything that can run a winxp and has an usb slot it may be more easy to use it.
It is an other thing, that the phone uses different drivers for fastboot mode, so you need to install them first (boot your phone into fastboot mode, then install the drivers) just after that can you flash the stock ftf.
Or if you want to use custom rom, you only need to flash the necessary kernel, then go into recovery, push the zip of the rom, install, enjoy...

I'm more then sure, that you need to use vol up + plug in USB for blue light for fastboot mode. This is Sony, not SonyEricsson. Those are tha last phones that used flash mode.

so, both volume buttons dont work , you installed all the necessary drivers , you are using windows xp and .... oh ! i think it also has to do with the usb type you are using ( usb 2/3 ) . I once had trouble rooting a phone at usb 3 and then i connected it to usb 2 and it worked !!!!
Okay, like 1-2-3
Steb-by-step instructions
1.
Delete anything that is related with the stock Sony things (PC companion and drivers currently installed)
2.
plug in phone, and automatize the USB pass through for the virtual machine at Virtual Machine manager
3.
install the drivers bundled with the flashtool
4.
boot your phone into fastboot mode (volume up and while it is pressed plug the phone into the USB).
For sidenote: you can turn off your phone like this: press vol up + power for 10 secs (until phone vibrates 3, 1 vibe is for restart, 3 is for shutdown). You can only go into fastboot mode when phone is turned off compleatley.
5.
If everything is set up (drivers, fastboot drivers, flashtool, stock ftf) shut down your phone (see above)
6.
start flashtool and go into flash, from the list choose the ftf you have copyed (I hope) to the flastool/firmwares directory, and it will say LT22i at the left column (BEWARE LT22i not LT22a !!!).
7.
click OK then you achieve the screen you posted, but with everithing set up. Press vol up and while doing so, plug in phone.
If you do everithing in the list, then the only thing that could be wrong is the virtual PC (Or you use USB3 instead os USB2 slot).
Enjoy.

I have one little thing in my mind, that the phone is not BL unlocked, which of course gives the above error. Try BL unlock if the phone is locked (don't know how to see it) but driver error could be the cause also. Virtual PC is not a full PC so anything can happen.
