Yes...otherwise NO modem would work as there has been not even a leak of jb for the i717....hell the gingerbread modem for your service will work too

Sorry what I meant is do you know of any modems that I can use right now? I'm on jamies cm10.1

You are still not getting it. Flash the ATT ICS modem. Flash a Canadian ICS modem. Flash a Gingerbread modem. All on the forum.

There's no such thing as a Gingerbread or ICS or JB modem. The modem is universal to all galaxy s phones, so you can use any you please.
The best modem for your situation is the current modem, the LF6.

[Q] Can you install any modem to any kernel?

I want to install a new modem, but I'm going to be running an older kernel than the modem. Will this combo work fine?
I run the opposite. I match my modem to the carriers firmware, and flash back modem after the ROM and kernel. No problems with speed or connectivity. You can only try....

Any modem can run with any rom.

Yes but sometimes Modem must be compatible with the Android build...
try
so you can try and if the new modem isnt work on older rom then reflash old modem too
Yep, pretty simple really. Extract modem from Intratech firmware thread and flash with Odin, our search for some of the CWM flashable modems. Try and test......

[Q] does anyone know of any lightweight samsung's ICS rom?

I want to flash Paranoid Android (PA) rom. It's based on CM10. I heard that if I flash PA from Samsung's JB rom, which I'm using right now, it will break NFC, S Beam, and WiFi. So that's why I have to start with Samsung's ICS rom. The reason for wanting a lightweight version of rom is because I have slow internet here. So, help me out, friends.
EDIT - Sorry, wrong thread....

it's JB rom? oh bummer. if I flash Slim ICS, won't it break WiFi, NFC and S Beam too? Or is this problem specific to CM and CM-based rom only?

this is not a rom, mate. this is just a cleaning script, that is to be flashed after flashing stock samsung rom.
Never mind mate. I think I'll just flash this old ICS rom I got with Odin. Then root and directly install PA. Thanks for trying to help. I really appreciate it. Cheers

[Q] International Compatibility

So I asked a question like three days ago and I think I wasn't very clear
I have a Mexican SG3 and I want to try one of the European Jelly Bean Roms that have been out for weeks but I haven't really understood how does the builds and basebands work on this phone, I used to have an epic 4g touch from Sprint and I was used to only have one kind of baseband because it's an us phone only, but with this one I don't know what all the XX(insert random letters here) builds mean cause my phone has a build number of UBBLG2 and I'm afraid that if I install one of the jelly bean roms my data service will be lost...could someone please tell me how does this work
Sent from my GT-I9300
since its the international s3, you have no problem.
If you lose your service flash a compatible modem/radio from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740061

There is only one modem for JB, much more simple than allthe ics stuff. In the pointed thread download XXDLID baseband if you don't already have it.

Don't worry, just flash the jb rom. If you encounter andyproblem, then you should flash another modem.

I even have 'csc unknown' and no problem at all.

[Q] Question about modems.

Hi I'm running CM10 nightlies and was wondering if you can flash ANY modem. My carrier is telus and I want a telus modem. Can anyone tell me if I can?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Any modem made for the galaxy so phones. Many people mistakenly call them Go modem or ICS modem. Its really the chips on the main board, not the operating system version.
So my modem when I flashed jb stayed the same?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Yes, unless the developer said he included a modem in the rom package (read the first post of that rom), you have what you had before. And you can flash any modem you want.
