Data on AT&T GoPhone - AT&T LG Optimus G

So I bought the AT&T Optimus G on Amazon Wireless off contract and unlocked it through the AT&T international department. I bought the phone to get a smartphone without signing up for a contract and paying for a contract data plan.
When I got the phone I found out that GoPhone doesn't support data on 4G LTE phones. I live in an area where wifi is prevalent so I survived for a short period without problem, calls and text was fine. It took me over a month to find a way to get data on GoPhone to work with the LG Optimus G.
Here is how you do it.
1. From main screen: App Tray--> Networks--> Connectivity-->Mobile Networks--> Access Point Names-->
2. press "Menu"
3. Press "New APN"
4. Input these setting (yes caps matters):
Name: AT&T
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
Username:[email protected]
Password:CINGULAR1
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http :// mmsc. cingular. com (sorry for the spaces, new users have to post several times to put links up)
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32
mms protocol: wap 2.0
MMS Port: 80
MCC:310
MNC:410
APN Type: leave blank
5. Go back to the APNs menu and select the new APN (AT&T) as your APN. (my experience is it will immediately work but if not follow the next steps)
6. Power off the phone completely.
7. When you restart, you should be able to access prepaid data.
No idea on the speed yet, I think it is 3g not 4g, although I am seeing the 4g symbol in the notification bar. See attached picture.

That is HSPA not LTE. LTE would specifically say 4G LTE in the icon.

[Q] Newbie Fail, Renable 4g and network data?

I think I accidentally disabled network data when looking at network toggles the other night at home, on wifi. I just had received my phone, and didn't know what the toggle did (no labels). After all of that, I installed Launcher Pro, the least buggy , and now I have no 4g. I can't find the original widget that "disabled" my network data and can't figure out how to reset.
The steps I've taken:
> Confirmed i can call out
> confirmed internet connection down
> Reset APN to default settings on APN menu, shows at&t
> confirmed packet data checkbox is selected.
I show Network bars, but no 4g or 3g emblem. What is my next step to fix this and reconnect to data?
worse case, just use oden and flash back to stock......that should fix the issue. or try and add the APN manually.

I should clarify that I'm completely stock right now, no root or anything. I'm giving myself a little time to acclimate to Android before I go that route despite my newbie developer urges.

That's the old style APN that will only get you HSPA. No LTE with this APN.
My about phone status shows:
Network: AT&T
Signal Strength: -18 dMb
Mobile network type: Unknown
Mobile Network state: disconnected
I swear it has to be something I did with that toggle. How can I get this reset?
can an admin move this to general where it would get more exposure. I guess it's actually more Android OS related than phone specific and not enough people in this subforum to get an answer. I'd like my phone operable again
Verified APN for AT&T shows up. Got WIFI access and redownloaded the toggle from Go Launcher. Verified APN toggle highlighted. Still only show cell connection bars, with no 4g or 3g emblem or internet access on the mobile network. I haven't even tweaked the phone that much!
Never mind. AT&T said the data plan failed to setup, so I guess it wasn't my fault after all.

[Q] HELP Need APN settings for AT&T Tab 10.1

So--went to AT&T today to get data plan for my Tab 10.1. They played with the thing for an hour and told me that the tablet was probably an "overseas" tablet and would not recognize their SIM card.
Called people I got it from (vendor with Amazon in NYC) who assured me that all I needed was the proper APN settings. Been searching net all day and tried about 5 versions with no joy.
Does anybody here have their Tab 10.1 set up with AT&T? AT&T told me that since they don't sell that model they are unsure of settings. I can get the thing to work with WIFI and settings for EDGE.
Any help is appreciated.
Solved!! No 3g connection on tab 10.1

OK---After extensive internet research, turns out that I am not the only one with this problem. I've been back to the AT&T store 3X with 3 different techs working on the tab with no joy! I could get "edge" (2G) and wifi but not 3G.
For others having this problem, here is what U need to do.
First, check ur APN settings. Here is what worked for my GT-P7500.

That's it!
WOW----over 330 people looked at this and none of them uses AT&T.
Sweet it worked for me. Thanks for the info!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the info! Was wondering how the **** to get my Mobile share plan working with the 10-20$ addon for my Dell Streak 7. It just wouldnt connect till I used the APN settings above.
Now if I could only get it to text message..
This worked for my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8000

This worked!! I had worked with At&t guys at a store, then called customer service, and finally called customer service back and a tech informed me of this site and I found the APN settings and entered them. They worked, but the tech also corrected something on his side, a "provision" he set to be "try" as it was set for 2G/3G and needed to be changed so that I could get the 4G (hsdpa+) working. I originally had an APN named Cingular 410 on the tablet, and it was also set to wap.cingular with a bunch of other settings that I think are used for phones. The reset 3G trick also helped (tap GSM only, then tap GSM/WCDMA auto) as I wasn't sure if my earlier troubleshooting was actually taking effect.
THANK YOU!!!
Wow I have tried everything... I posted on 15 plus forums, read countless posts saying it was not possible. NOT true! thank you for taking the time to post your efforts.

Here is an interesting development... I flashed CyanogenMod 10 on my Sony Xperia arc S phone and the ROM downloaded some settings by itself. There are 3 APNs that comes with this ROM.
1. ATT
2. ATT LTE
3. StraightTalk ATT
StraightTalk was picked by default. I was about to delete them all and enter the settings from here but then I received a text message from a friend... Lo and behold, it was a MMS message with a pic attached and already downloaded. I saw that my WiFi was on, so I turned off the WiFi and asked my friend to send me more pics... They all arrived including a video snippet.... Then I sent one, a larger pic, and he received it. All amazed I fired up the CM10's browser and went to www.testmy.net Did a smarttest and my download was 3.4 Mbps and upload was 577 Kbps... In Phoenix, AZ...

That's the settings I use for straight talk, works great. I get 4g just about everywhere here in pa. Mms works great too. I've had straight talk for a year and a half on at&t. Can't complain. If you use alot of cell data they will throttle you slow, but I'm usually close to wifi. I've heard 2GB then they slow you down.

I'm getting 1.3Mbps down and 657 Kbps up. Pretty happy with it.
To the last poster, I thought Straight Talk didn't offer LTE coverage?! If it did, it'd be an even more amazing deal than I had thought it was!
My data works fine. Got like 6mbps this morn but my MMS wont send for ****. Using an Xperia Ion
Pantech Pocket ATT - Straight Talk MMS Settings
The Pantech Pocket needs to have the Straight Talk APN data loaded to TWO locations.
Both Phone APN and Wap APN need to be setup with the Straight Talk APN settings.
Straight Talk makes it sound like you only need to enter the information in one location.
You need to enter the information in Phone APN and Wap APN, if you want MMS to work!
APN name: Straight Talk
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: Straight Talk value
Port: 80
MMSC: Straight Talk value
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Port: 80
My Pantech Pocket is running flawlessly on Straight Talk now. MMS is 100% functional. The pictures are getting through. I'm getting 5Mbps download speed and 1Mbps upload speed.
My Pantech burst uses only one apn. On gingerbread and ice cream sandwich. I don't run proxy but the rest of the settings I put in and works good. Seems faster tried it. 40kbps proxy vs 4000kbps no proxy. Not sure why. Any ideas?

HOLY SH!T!!!
I just put in the settings Bushmaster78FS posted and I am now on TRUE 4G with ST. 6Mbps!!! ITS FASTER THAN MY WORKS WIFI BY 3X!!!
AMAZING!!! THANKS BUSHMASTER!
Nice
Thanks for the settings you posted Bushmaster.
The settings provided are the first ones I have used and successfully got both data and mms working with only one APN.
Using Samsung Galaxy S III.
1. My phone is unocked and compatible on both AT&T networks and T-Mobile right now i am using an blue AT&T sim and i am thinking to make the move to T-Mobile network. Do you think i can use the same AT&T compatible sim and just change the APN setting to T-Mobile and have it work on the T-Mobile network or so i have to buy a sim?
2. I heard that you can get a free sim by buying a free phone and just using it on your phone but other people say that those sims are lock to those phones. Which is true?
3. I see that Straight talk sells cheap GSM phones and my GF has her phone on T-Mobile so can i buy one of the ST phones and swap it to use on T-Mobile or are the locked and can they be unlocked?
I just switched from the default straight talk apn to the ones bushmaster posted. I went from 1 mbps to 4.8 on a Nexus 4.

anyone try these settings on S2 i9100 and see speed gains?
APN set, no data.
Hey gang, I've looked far-and-wide and haven't been able to locate a solution so, I throw myself on y'all's mercy and ask if anyone has a clue why I can't receive wireless data on my SGT AT&T GT-P1000.
I received my AT&T Straight Talk SIM the other day and porting the phone over was no issue. However, when I set up the APN I did not immediately reboot the phone due to some confusion about when the service actually transferred. Could this have affected my registration on the ST wireless network?
I've entered the APN settings precisely but, alas, still cannot connect to the wireless data. I really want to move over to ST, not only will it save me $30 a month whilst adding an "unlimited" data plan but, best of all, I'll get to tell AT&T to go pound sand.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
did you add in the " http://"?
Does anybody now any way to unthrotte. Since we all now that ST throttle after 5gb. I called to ST customers service, they told me that unlimited data is only for navigation.

Maybe you guys can help me? My HTC One is only getting EDGE.
My HTC One that is being used with MetroPCS' BYOD plan is only getting EDGE, and not 3g, 4g, or even LTE. The phone was being used with Verizon Wireless before I got it. Everything works fine, but my data speed is super slow (EDGE 0.01 download and 0.01 upload). When I check the APN settings, it still says Verizon Wireless Internet. The people at my local MetroPCS store were no help since they don't know anything about APN settings. Thanks.

I have apn settings on ATT phone and have tried PTA its the same not LTE. Also i noticed on stock rom when i power down my phone or reboot it hangs, But on all custom roms it reboots.hot reboots, and shutsdown just fine
I have the same issue. Want to know something even more strange?...I have an ATT go phone sim and a Cricket sim, and I get better reception with cricket than I do with he ATT sim, even though they're both on the same network. But I saw LTE on my phone for a split second with the ATT sim and it went away and hasn't come back.
Here are my ATT Mate 2 apn settings i have much history with this and att in fact they paid out over it.. I had exact issue I had the same issue with it and 4 lines on my plan for 2 years thats another story but this is what mine are and taken from my lg flex picture inn gdrive of all places.
