he was referring to whom is on ics to erase cid, install jb kernel and then flash, if you are already in jb kernel you don't need those steps.. why you are that mean coz you know what he was talking about

I am not mean... i never intended to be...
Rom is always based on kernel and baseband... he menttioned being on stock ics = having ics baseband and havink ics kerenl.
Now he included in his instruction step to flash jb kernel so the state of the rom would be, after flashing jb verizon kernel - ICS baseband - because we did not changed baseband , ans verizon kernel - cause we had changed it.
SO i asked if this is equal to what he is saying - ics baseband and verizon kernel is required to this rom?
NEVER intended to be mean - just wanted to simplify that information...to understand better
just flashed it, jb verizon kernel with chinese baseband bp_U04.10.03P.img that i used also in other jb roms.
didn't had any apns in settings, added the one for my network and data works, will report any problems.. restoring my apps for now

C'mon guys, it the same as for any other JB Rom out there. This Rom is based on the Verizon Leak, so you have to flash the JB Kernel.
For BMM you need ICS, so >

You can follow this tutorial in order to be able to install ROMs based in the JB leak. As you will see, you must erase your cid to use any of these ROMs (including wdsea0588).
In the tutorial, "jb ota" means any ROM based in JB kernel. And you don't need to flash GSM patch as wdsea0588 is already patched and ready for GSM use.
which languages are included?

sweet Tonight I'll give it a try and see if I'll move from china JB to verizon kernel. I hope so
as seen from screenshots signal indicator is full (verizon kernel roms = 2-3 bar max, china kernel = full and I still don't know why)
anyway, congrats and thank you!

It looks to me like the main reason I can't get bluetooth working on the BR/Rodgers/LATAM Razr on all the new GSM ICS variants is because there is no updated (2.3.6) kernel for it.
Can anyone help in what may be able to be modified in the ICS roms so that the BT doesn't cause reboots/crashes ? Or is anyone aware of a 2.3.6 rom/kernel to get it compatible ?
I'm just a noob, so maybe I am totally wrong here ?

Thanks for the tip, but that still does not work. I have tried 2 that i have come across. The reason being I believe is that the nandroid still does not change the kernel. Are you aware of one that works? That why i posted, so someone could point me in the right direction if they have had success.

I am on that rom now, and have been several times.
Here is the kernel version: 2.6.35.7-g3798510
The kernel does not change, and you found out as well.
As far as moving to general: This is really an issue that would help move along development by enabling those with BR/LATAM devices to work with the newer roms. Thats why I posted here.
I get your point and is some how logical. I wonder if we could flash the kernel separately.. is still the same device just different signature
Lets hope a dev comes to the rescue

Unfortunately it looks like we are at the mercy of Motorola to release a 2.3.6 update for the BR. I was hoping a dev could shed some light on the possibility of replacing the ICS rom's bluetooth portion with one from 2.3.5 to stop the crash or get it useable.

I don't believe in 2.3.6 to my br razr no more.I see Q1 ending in 2 weeks, and the ICS rollout is going to happen in Q2 according to moto announcement. For the sake of my update i hope they skip this 2.3.6 and go right to the point giving us 4.0! (Or we will see 2.3.6 while the rest of the world gets they ICS and then, my friend, we are really screwed).

So hold on a second, there's a way to go from Brazilian ROM to the en.eu stock ROM and then onto the en.eu leaked ICS build? And the only problem is that bluetooth doesn't work in ICS? Does it work if you flash the Gingerbread en.eu build?
How's the switch to en.eu ROM is done? Just by editing build.prop file? Can you post this build.prop file please?

The BT doesn't work because of the incompatibility of 4.0 BT and the 2.3.5 kernel. Changing to the en.eu rom dosn't change your kernel version, just the system version.
You can just install arctic 3.0 on your BR if you want 2.3.6 system, but you will still be on the old kernel.

We can't change our kernel no matter what you do.
You can run whatever system you want, including like for example Ubuntu or Gentoo Linux, Arctic ROM, CM, etc BUT, you will be using the same kernel (that we can't change no matter what).
We can only boot official motorola kernel signed for LATAM. EU users have a wider option of kernels, including the one from the leaked ICS.
For now, LATAM users can choose between 2 very similar kernel versions. The one from retail rom and the other from vivo.
I am impresse that the only incompatibility noticed so far is the Bluetooth. Can anyone please confirm that?
I'm running ICS with BR kernel (vivo). Besides Bluetooth, we got no hardware acceleration working, but i didn't noticed performance drop in any game compared to 2.3.5. i believe the problem it's just the implementation in google chrome and flash video layer too.
I will switch back to GB because of the camcorder

This to me seems that Ben101 says "Stock jelly bean is still not released", which krayndr then declares "False!"
I work in software; I differentiate between a leak and a release. "Released to testers" is not a release. We send many builds to testers before we have a release candidate.

Not sure why you're directing this question to me; is it because I said I work in software? That doesn't mean I work in developing software specifically for this device, or even for Samsung devices in general...
But if you're having issue with a leaked firmware, doesn't it make sense to go back to a released firmware?

yes, u can do So ma8
but why we prefer GB > ICS > JB is that ur installation goes smooth without any issue and also rooting ICS is much easier (since lot of option's to do so) rather with GB.
but the choice is urs
PS- regarding EMMC bug it comes only with the stock kernel of ICS 4.0.4, while ICS 4.0.3 is safe from the same(EMMC bug)

Hi
First of all you need to root the phone. The best way to do that would be to flash cf-root compatible with your rom version. You can find exactly what your build is by checking settings > about phone
Find compatible cf-root kernel and put it in PDA in odin and flash... there are lot's of guides out there - won't be hard to find
Second, before you go further you need yoo updete your bootloader. So either flash ICS stock through odin (not recommended cause will unroot again) or flash bootloader through odin. Again there are proper guides for that...
Then you can upgrade to whatever you want...
Keep in mind that emmc cap bug does not exist in GB kernels. so you can use the CWM recovery in cf-root kernels for GB rather safely.
If you update to stock ICS then you need to keep an eye what kernel you're using to wipe data. Siyah and dorimanx are safe and I always use them.
Loads of roms out there, pure aosp, cm based, aokp based and the leaked sammy rom. Personally checked alot of each first three and also several versions of the leaked one... All good.
Word of edvice - do read more on those things. No matter how much expirience people who answer threads like that have, you'll never substitute your own knowledge and expirience.
Go on and root and enjoy the android world, mate. Best of luck
When I first bought my phone, it had Gingerbread on it, then I got an OTA update to ICS from Moto, and after that I rooted my phone and installed custom ROMs, does that mean my kernel also changed with the OS or am I still running the Moto ICS Kernel?
Can one update the kernel only by Manufacturer OTA? If not, then why is there so much emphasis on going back to stock ICS before trying the leaked OTA of JB or trying any ROM built for JB kernel? if i directly install the leaked JB OTA wont i update my Kernel also?

You can be in both, JB leak and ICS kernel, you just have to choose the right rom...
Also, you must not flash it on stock slot...
EDIT: Never mind.

The official AOKP releases are for ICS kernel only. There are builds by dhacker which work on the JB kernel (XT912 only).
I installed bootmenu manager, 3 wipes and flash umts_spyder_jb.zip and reboot but not opened. And then Im back to the Stock İCS.

Could someone in the thread read and evaluate to make sure?
http://www.vickyz.com/install-motor...-android-4-2-2-jelly-bean-build-4-firmware/2/
http://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/spyder/aokp
i tested this build JELLYBEAN_KERNEL_ONLY-alpha-JB-aokp_spyder_unofficial_Feb-07-13.zip
Its pretty fast and nice but it have same bugs as CM 10.1(no camera...)
The camera should be fixed once Verizon pushes the official update and the devs have time to compile the drivers.
They stated soak test signups yesterday(?), so it shouldn't be to long.
Any other major bugs, or is it pretty clean? Also, did you follow the same instructions as the link I posted?

no
any mirror? please?
I have flashed deodexed version and I must say I'm impressed. Fast, stable and battery friendly. Everything works, no bugs at all
Also I've noticed that there is no root in the rom.
This problem was solved by installing root directly from BMM recovery, section system keeper/install root/reboot
Finally I have also system 2 with a reliable rom
Thanks a lot!
edit: can I use your 1% battery mod for leaked verizon JB on this rom?

Hey since you have tried both, what would you prefer, this one or the verizon one? and if i install this, is erased cid still a requirement for asia retail phone like mine? And o yeah, are the improvements from verizon version, mainly the camera panorama mode is in here too?

Definitely this one! Seems a bit lighter, faster and a lot better 3G connection.
Regarding CID I think it should still be erased coz your not in EU. It shouldn't bother you as before
I didn't noticed panorama mode
Bottom line: it needs to be tested a few more days for stability, but so far I strongly recommend it
And, yes, don't forget to flash the right kernel
Enjoy
edit: I use kernel AND baseband from HSD-Pilot thread about OTA update

Seems tempting to try but one request, could you upload a screenshot or 2 for me? The thing i like about the verizon one is the clean statusbar (no carrier) and the razr i like text messaging theme (the green icon one). I know it might be minor but still he3..
And about the new panorama mode, it is the bomb man, really great at producing panorama shot, you could scan the area anywhere you like, almost no restriction, i could call it photo sphere alpha version so if this vodafone version has it all, i might flash it tonight

Yup i use BMM and i put it on Slot2 because i still keep my ICS in Slot-1 (stock) and yes no more CID erasing.. confirm, just flashing kernel between ICS and JB vodafone Rom depend on which one i use.
maybe after few days testing this rom i will move it to Slot1 as main rom replacing ICS.
before this rom i use Verizon JB but i dont like the signal bar counting seems not accurate, and finally after using the Vodafone JB all signal bar is accurate as i was using my ICS rom.
im a happy person now :victory:
hello I am from Mexico its Latin America. My phone is a xt910 GSM i used to have JB from Verizon but the wifi hotspot didn't work and I go back to ice and restored CID. For this room I need to erase CID? Or I can just flash and does the wifi hotspot works?

Hello, I am using retail asia razr
I am not clear about your description.
Do you mean you flash the Vodafone JB Kernel in system 2 first, then flash the zip file in system 2????
And do I need to do anything to flash rom in system 2???
Does webtop work fine with this?
