Google Play Error 941

Hello there XDA community,
I'm not sure if this is a relatively new problem with Google Play, but I was compelled to share this with you - as I've spent hours trying to get a solution that worked on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (GT-P7510) - and here's my forwarded offering:
Problem
When Android Market updates to Google Play, it fails with error code 941 and all my apps crash within a minute of starting them. The apps start working again if I remove the Google Play update. As soon as I open the Android Marketplace again it tries to update to Google Play again and the problem comes straight back!
Cause
I personally am unsure - but there is definately a compatibility issue with Google Play and the Android Marketplace, of which Google are still working on - hence the reply below...

Also once you have done all this, use a root explorer and go to system apps and either rename market updater.apk to apk.bak or just delete it. This will keep the market (play store, hate the name) from trying to update and thus not having to redo all this every time you download something.
I know this is an old thread but thanks it worked for me!
Error 941

[Q] Google Play stuck 'downloading' help?

I have just installed Android Revolution HD 14.0 but I cannot download any apps from Google Play.
The status bar just stays at "downloading". I have cleared data and cache. My google play is version 3.9.16. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any suggestions of a fix would be very much appreciated.

There are some further steps that should resolve the issue you are seeing, as market is also tied into some of the other Google applications:
After step 6 above do the following:
1. Also find applications 'Google Services Framework' and 'Google Play Services'.
2. Force close and clear data for both of these applications.
3. Go into your Google account and disable all the sync options so nothing is ticked.
4. Reboot your device now, do not run any of the applications.
5. Re-enable all your sync options under your google account
6. Re-Boot again, now you can go and try the Play store.
This should resolve both issues mentioned in this thread. It has happened to me on numerous occasion and this has resolved.
Worth a not if you have any of the other play store, Books, Movies, Magazines then it's worth deleting or completing above steps for these too.
Hope this helps.

3 things to try.
1, reinstall play store app and services via apk from Apkmirror.com.
2, delete and reinstall your Google profile.
3, wait until later as it is most likely an issue with Google servers.
I have another problem with Google Apps.
After flashing any nougat based custom ROM, and then after installing OpenGapps arm 7.1 my phone stuck with a problem that Google services was stopped.

Just factory reset one more time.
Add your google account. Make sure you're connected to the internet.
Once the phone boots up, 1st thing you need to do is update "google play services" from play store.
Once that is done you'll be able to update all google apps.
Hope this works. All the best !

[GUIDE] How to fix and upgrade Google Play Services

This Guide is designed for people, who are having problems with the GoogleApps_GearCM_CM9_20140711 package.
Only for CyanogenMod 9.1 - BroadcomCM Beta 5, but might help other people too.
Error Messages
If you get one of the following errors, you have installed a Google Apps Package which was signed with old certificates.
Incompatible with other application(s) using the same shared user ID.
This app won't run without Google Play services, which are missing from your phone.
The Problem
You cannot fix this error by installing/updating Google Play Services, because there is a conflict with the "shared user id".
The Solution
The "shared user ids" are stored in this file "/data/system/packages.xml".
Therefore it is very important that you don't delete the google apps manually with a Root Explorer.
Because in this case, the "shared user ids" are not getting deleted in the "packages.xml".
You should uninstall the Google Apps with the App Manager of the ES File Explorer.
Download it from the Play Store
Start the app and open the left toolbar
Go to "Tools" -> "App Manager"
Select "System Apps" from the top menu
Select the following apps (one by one) and hit uninstall and then click OK
/system/app/GooglePlayStore.apk (com.android.vending) (Google Play Store)
/system/app/GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk (com.google.android.syncadapter.contacts) (Google Contacts Sync)
/system/app/GoogleLoginService.apk (com.google.android.gsf.login) (Google Account Manager)
/system/app/GoogleServicesFramework.apk (com.google.android.gsf) (Google Services Framework)
/system/app/NetworkLocation.apk (com.google.android.location) (Network Location)
Click to collapse
This will uninstall the apps correctly and the "packages.xml" gets also updated correctly.
Next Step
Afterwards reboot into recovery and wipe the cache.
Then install my updated Google Apps Package, which you can find here.
Final Step
After installing my updated Google Apps Package, reboot your device and go to the System Settings, and add your Google Account.
After clicking the "Add Account" button, there might be a bug, where the Google Icon is black and the text is not visible.
Just click the line which is completely dark, and configure your Google Account. Afterwards the Icon should re-appear.

Google Apps are updated automatically after you have installed a Google Apps Package.
Worked for me, thanks. Needed to enable Root Explorer in ES File Explorer (it's a toggle in the left-sidebar) and had to download ES Task Manager. Network Location system app didn't exist on mine (Android 4.4.4) but the fix still worked. Since I'm using CM11, I just re-installed their GApps zip package from Recovery.
Easy fix without reboot

What I did is went to settings apps, then I went to running apps, Google play services said it had 2 running service's, I opened it up and to find 7 were running and causing conflicts between the authentication and the service itself. I stopped all the services which is just like reciting because they restart. Phone works again no reboot, try this for a quick fix next time to save your day. Sincerely Jacob.

But this forum on XDA, don't you think is messed up a lot? So many repeated questions and answers, polls etc, while the useful guides, tricks, and tools are just lost somewhere. It's very hard to find things in here.
In my opinion there should be a separate question and answer sub-forum, just like many development forums have. And all the announcement, releases, guides, tools, etc should be in a clean sub-forum. This one it'll be easy to know where to look for problem and where to look for solutions.
Thanks

I uploaded the 2.0.402 version of last week. The version cited here is different ?
Stupid question... I'm new to RemixOS (just installed it a week or so ago) - am I supposed to be able to upgrade to this via OTA upgrade? When I try, it just tells me that I'm onthe latest release (2.0.205).
Or are OTA updates not yet implemented?
Thank you!
EDIT: Also, any way to mount Samba filesystems on Remix? THat is one thing that I really need (have a FreeNAS server that I need direct access to, preferably via cifs)..

Hmm, I also found that with the new version, I can no longer see my "Windows disk" from within RemixOS (could see and access it fine with previous version). I'll have to look into that... If anyone has any tips, I'm all ears!

I also not see the update when I click on Updates. It makes no difference if I choose the stable or the development branch.
Or is it possible to do the upgrade manually? (e.g. extract image files from ISO and replace the existing files?) Which files do I have to replace then?
Thanks
Florian
can't get google play to work. Tried everything:
1. Downloaded GMSInstaller.apk
2. Installed APK file and run it.
3. Clicked on "One-click to install Google Services" (this will automatically download google play services)
4. cleared cache of all 3: play, framework and service
5. rebooted, google play didn't work
6. cleared cache again and repeated 5-6 for 2 times
7. tried clearing google play cache only, rebooted and tried to launch google play - still couldn't sign.
8. reinstalled remix os
9. went for the local copy by executing as root:
pm disable com.jide.apppolicy
pm enable com.android.vending
pm enable com.google.android.gms
pm enable com.google.android.gsf
pm enable com.google.android.gsf.login
repeated 4-6 steps afterward, still cannot sign in (and all caches are cleared numerous times).
How should I continue investigation further on?
p.s. successfully installed remix os on asus eeepc 1000h, x86
stuck on fullscreen mode for all apps and system, switch locked, no way to get back to windows mode, any help welcome...

I ended up updating by booting into Windows and just running the installation application over again - and told it to keep my data. That worked, but so far, I found .205 to work better overall - at least on my system (and old dual-core Pentium PC). Without access to my Windows "C" drive, it really limits the usefulness of RemixOS since I have tons of stuff on that drive.
I have not yet tried to add it manually though... I might try a fresh install of the latest release too...

Hm. I didn't installed it with the Windows installer but manually with the tutorial step 1 "Install Remix OS on HDD [Using Ubuntu]:".
Can I replace the existing files initrd.img, kernel, ramdisk.img and system.img? Will I then loose my apps and settings?

can't get google play to work. Tried everything:
1. Downloaded GMSInstaller.apk
2. Installed APK file and run it.
3. Clicked on "One-click to install Google Services" (this will automatically download google play services)
4. cleared cache of all 3: play, framework and service
5. rebooted, google play didn't work
6. cleared cache again and repeated 5-6 for 2 times
7. tried clearing google play cache only, rebooted and tried to launch google play - still couldn't sign.
8. reinstalled remix os
9. went for the local copy by executing as root:
pm disable com.jide.apppolicy
pm enable com.android.vending
pm enable com.google.android.gms
pm enable com.google.android.gsf
pm enable com.google.android.gsf.login
repeated 4-6 steps afterward, still cannot sign in (and all caches are cleared numerous times).
How should I continue investigation further on?
p.s. successfully installed remix os on asus eeepc 1000h, x86

I have same problem :crying:
To install the Play Store, you have to use the Installer in Remix Central.

You can replace those files - your apps and settings would be kept as they are in data.img (or data folder/partition)

Okey, doing it "live":
1. launching clean install (2016-07-11 10:26) and made a small break
2. select your language -> English (10:34)
3. user agreement (10:34)
4. wifi setup (10:35)
5. setup completed (10:35)
6. remix central (10:36)
7. reloaded remix central twice (wasn't connected yet 10:36)
8. there's no "google services installer", so clicking on "Google Play Installer" instead (yeah, same green "..." icon, 10:37, clicking on download sign, since clicking on app doesn't work)
9. opening downloads 10:39
10. clicking on downloaded GSM_activ...apk. Google services installer launched , clicking install 10:39
11. Open after installation and clicking "install google services" 10:40
12. downloading / installing; Got a warning: "Installation completed. Please reboot your system to use google services". Pressing "ok" and keeping the rest installer window open(10:41)
13. selected to restart 10:42
14. restarting, selecting remix os to boot up, remis os logo shows up 10:43
15. Remis os booted up, The PC is online. 10:44
16. launching google play store to check it out 10:44
17 loading... and boom! "There was a problem communicating with google servers". Try again later. 10:45
18. Clicking on "next" which closed the google play 10:45
Confirming - it DOES NOT work on Asus EeePC 1000H
Extra:
19. Clearing cache of all 3 services:
Google play store - force stop; clear data;
Google play services - force stop; manage space->clear all data->ok; and force stop again (weird);
Google services frame work - force stop; clear data; ok; force stop again (weird)
20. reboot; booting up remix os (10:54)
21. launching google play store to check it out 10:55
22. loading... and boom! "There was a problem communicating with google servers". Try again later. 10:55
23. Clicking on "next" which closed the google play 10:55
24 shutting down for the next options to be tried.
Confirming - it DOES NOT work on Asus EeePC 1000H again
i would suggest to use your old remix 205 if you had one with playstore working and just replace the files except your data folder/img, the files i mean initdr, kernel, ramdisk and system

I didn't have it working before, it's the first time I'm trying Remix .
But thanks for the tip - will try older version as well.
