First off, hello guys and girls, a long time forum crawler but i've only just bit the bullet and registered
Recently picked myself up an SIII (i9300) rooted up and decided to go with Omega, but i've found that whenever i flash a kernel, all will go ahead as normal, flashes fine and i reboot, to be left with a black screen and some varying vibration patterns depending on the kernel flashed... I've tried Perseus (the main one i'd like to see working) aswell as siyah, but neither chose to boot.
Both specified to work on samsung based roms, and i'm not on 4.2.2 (only 4.2.1) so that isn't the problem... So here i am; Where am i going wrong?
Thank you ahead of time
are you sure you've got a i9300?

if you look on the perseus thread it states it does not work on 4.2.2 samsung roms. There arent any 4.2.2 sammy roms so im pretty sure its meant to say 4.2.1 and the OP mistyped.
drew071
yeah, missed that. most kernels don't support 4.2

Why does my sgs3 reboot by itself? Please anyone tell me what is the cause of this. My phone is rooted with siyah kernel.
Have the same issue here. Rom is WannamLite 2.0 (Based on XXBLG8). Kernel is Siyah 1.5 Beta 6.
Sometimes all of a sudden the bottom of the phone heats up a lot and the phone reboots.

Which ROM are you using..It seems a case of bad flash..reflash the ROM after a full wipe..
Please do a search before you post...this question has been answered again and again...

Heating up problems may be caused by some rogue app...see which app is always running in the background and eating a lot of memory...uninstall that app..also if you can try some other kernel..
I had the same problem, it was the kernel so try a different one
I haave not have a single reboot nor on Stock, CM10, AOSP or SuperNexus. Stock and Syah kernels
I have a stock rom,i only have custom kernel,so whats the problem revooting by itself?. Sorry for being lazy on reading other forums, its kinda diffirent if youre the one asking the question.
Hi everyone,
I am using Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 and I have rooted my stock ROM and installed the paranoid android 2.+ . After installation and wiping factory settings and cache; when I rebooted my device, its showing a paranoid icon for hours. Nothing has happened after that and its still showing the same icon. How i have to proceed to complete installation or go back to stock ROM. Please help
What stock firmware were you using??

Try this before flashing the rom, seems to help most people
I guess this has something to do with your previous ROM. Were you using any leaked stock JB based ROM?
Oh and btw, don't worry, nothing has gone wrong with your phone. You'll be able to get it back working

Hi.. I was using a leaked unofficial CM10 ROM. I tried and moved to recovery mode at last and installed the paranoid android again and wiped out the previous data. Now its working fine ..

So as I was reading some of the new roms they have tags like RootBox Jelly Bean is a "pure" AOKP/CM. I'm not sure what AOKP/CM is and when i read some of the comments they started talking about the rom being hellraised. Could someone help me understand what they mean by hellraising?

Aokp and cm are open source based roms based on vanilla androids with a few tweaks. Hell raise means the rom was originally on the i9100 but was ported to our phones

does it matter that it was designed for the i9100 vs the i7777? alos I just saw the post here that say DON NOT USE clockwork rom mangers for I7777. If we cant use that application how do we go about installing new roms?

No it doesn't, hellraising makes it 100% compatible. And you do it through recovery. If to don't know that then you have some reading to do.

Our kernels come with recovery built in. So flashing a ROM gives u the recovery.
so I went ahead and flashed to a new rom, pretty diffrent. But I noticed it doesnt seem to have goole play for downloading apps. is that normal?

Its normal if u flashed an AOSP based ROM that requires gapps to be flashed afterward.
So when I go to the apps I see an icon for goo. In when I click that there is an option to download gapps. When I download it, it askes if I want to flash. Do I reflash?
nm, IM still pretty new to this. when i tred flashing the one that they had in the goo.im manger i think it was the wrong version since it just keep crashing the apps so I can to the newest version and now it seems to work. this new rom is kinda cool!
THanks for you guys help
im sure ill be back with more questions
Im considering flashing upto XWLS8, but was wondering if theres anyone running this ROM on Samsung Stock Kernel & Stock ROM without Rooting their S2 and free of any media/DCIM issues.
From what ive read around this forum, the bootloop appears to have an issue with SuperSu, different Kernels and rooted S2s, not sure about the media file corruptions.
Also, im right in thinking i can just flash back to 404 LPT with ODIN if it all goes wrong?
Any success stories with LS8
I'm not running pure stock, but I have not experienced any of the freezes/bootloops others have experienced. (knock on wood)

I tried it and after a day have gone back to 404 it was simple i had boot loop which panicked me at first but was ok.
I went back as phone drained quicker with last 50% and screen started to get warm when off with nothing running. Am waiting for Samsung to release to us

You got plenty of stories here. Read from page 740 and on.
Keep in mind that people are more prone to write about things not working rather than "everything works fine", you'll probably find these positive remarks coming from active users.
Every problem has a fix or a workaround as far as I could tell.
Thanks for the replies folks.. i guess its not an issue if i can jump back to 404, but ill read the thread.
Cheers

Go JB, you won't regret it.
No issues here. None. And battery life is better than on 4.04.

I have been running the stock version of XWLS8 (Spain) for the last week and have not noticed any lag issues, upgraded from the leaked version that I had been running since mid December using Odin. Kies would not work with the leaked version, but with the original stock version Kies now recognizes it without any problems.

No problems here.. just massive battery drain..

can anyone link to a stable CM11 rom for a galaxy s2 i9100T? ive tried a couple of the nightly builds from the CM download page but i get an error status 7 everytime, which im guessing is something to do with it not being the 'right' rom for my phone
ive been able to install CM10.1.3 fine but not CM11
i dont want to force it by removing the assert lines from the script updater!
Hi...
I have the same issue and I guess it's because the phone model (i9100T) doesn't match the phone model of the ROM (i9100).
I've tried to download the newest version of the kernel (Siyah v6.05b) I read it could help, but nothing so far.
I'm still getting the status 7 massage when I'm trying to flash to a CM11.
Because there are not hardware difference between the i9100t and i9100 I believe nothing will happen if I'll solve/ignore the statue 7 and continue anyway but I have no guaranties the this will work.
I really don't want to hard bick my phone!
Can any body help me with this issue?
Thanks
You both need to flash a KK compatible CWM (6.0.4.5 or newer) first........
Just make sure the ROMs you are trying to flash ARE compatible with your phones first.
My wife says I'm a phone geek....She's probably right
Guys.....this is BASIC stuff/info......and something that you both WOULD have known if you'd read the first post of the thread where you got your ROMs.......

My girlfreind says it too... so you're in good company.
I tried your method but it didn't work, I tried flashing it with odin and when I reboot the device it was in soft brick.
I flashed it back with the old kernel and got it back to work.
All guides that reffers to flashing KK with sgs2 are reffering to model i9100. it seems people with i9100 don't suffer from our issue so I guess the problem is with our specific model i9100t and not a CWM problem.
I investigated the status 7 issue and it seems to happend when the model of the device don't match the ROM targeted model device.
Do you have any other ideas?
Thanks for helping
Maybe you should try re-dowloading the ROM. This can *sometimes* happen if the download gets corrupted.......

If you've got as far as successfully flashing 10.1.3, then the only reason you can't flash 11 is the version of CWM you are currently running........

The OP states he is running 10.1.3 (which I assume is an i9100 rom).....
Maybe you could try it this way.....an incremental upgrade......
Root....flash 10.1.3....flash KK CWM....flash 11....
My wife says I'm a phone geek....She's probably right
CM10.3/CM11 i9100 images both directly support install asserts for the i9100T (as well as several other 99%+ similar variants with different model numbers), see https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_samsung_i9100/blob/cm-10.2/BoardConfig.mk
The OP is probably having issues because of not updating kernel/recovery to something recent enough to install CM11.
