[Q] Trouble De-Sensing on ViperDNA - HTC Droid DNA

Hopefully this hasn't been already answered, if so please point me in the right direction, I did some searching and didn't find anything specifically answering this just some fuzzy answers. I've been trying to install viperdna de-sensed, I know there are issues with aroma installer not always doing what it is supposed to but everything I've read so far it seems like it's a 50/50 and if you do it enough times you should get a de-sensed install eventually. My problem is that after 9 times I've finally given up, I've tried every permutation I can think of, in cwm wipe data/factory reset 1-3 times, wipe cache partition and wiping dalvik cache, inside aroma I've tried both options of wiping first and not wiping. I'm curious if anyone else has run into this and if so did you ever find a way to get a clean de-sensed install?
Thanks

When selecting desense options you cannot currently select the camera. It will cause nothing to be removed. Try that and it will work.

From what I remember there where 2 times that I was asked one was on a screen with 3 options, with last option being something like "replace camera with JB option" or something like that and then the other was in the "big" list of things to remove. I'm pretty sure in my multiple times that I've left the "3rd option" for replacing the camera unchecked and in the list of things to remove I did un-check anything that smelled of htc sense. I will try again though and report back. If there's something else I'm missing let me know, thanks!

I just saw that viperdna 1.2 is due out in 2 days, I think I'm going to wait for that release first assuming it's a full release and not just an incremental.

I found the trick to be that you need to have the phone sitting flat and still, and then install the Rom zip file. As you go through aroma give each page a brief moment to load before you proceed to the next page.

[Q] Major ace problems

I keep getting the "Process.android is not responding" a lot and "System" is not responding too. And the phone sometimes reboots/turns off by itself. I'm running J.A.F.'s CM7.2 with the fix applied, allinone, ICS theme with animations. Governor set to SMARTASS and min cpu up to 245MHz with max at 800.
Does anyone have any idea about this? I'm starting to get these frequently.
Besides those error reports, reboots/turn offs, everything works flawlessly. I really don't know what the issue could be :/
I suggest trying a full wipe - dalvik/data/factory and reflashing without the theme. I had no problems without the theme. Don't forget gapps.

What are gapps for? I never used them or flashed them. But will do the full wipe if it happens again, already backed up all my apps.

Yeah man, I know what you mean. But Quick Pic messes up when I scroll from picture to picture. When I slide to the next image, it lags the previous one behind it and shows the next one but with the previous one chopped up behind it.
Let me take a screenshot....
EDIT: Reinstalled and there's no lag. The difference is that I took off the ICS theme. I'm not sure if the theme was the one that caused it but its not happening anymore. If it happens again, I'll post a screenshot.

I would still flash them. Those you don't use can be frozen. Some of these apps need each other to function. For instance I have been told by many people that the Market need GTalk to work. Save yourself unnecessary trouble and play it safe.

Thanks. Will flash after completely wiping phone.
EDIT: Weird, I wiped everything (Cache, Dalvik cache, Factory reset) then reflashed the rom and my phone was stuck on that ANDROID word before the bootanimation. Was I supposed to go back to CM7.1 and reflash 7.2?
I forgot to mention, I moved all the Dalvik Cache to the SD card with S2E. Think that would have performance issues?

Play store My Apps

Has anyone seen on the market app, when you go to My Apps, a sidescroll page available to see all apps you've downloaded, even the free ones? Normally after a wipe, I get a few of the apps back from My Apps, but have to remember most of the ones I really need.
On Saturday, I was away from home, and was considering doing a wipe to update to Cleanrom 4.1, but wasn't sure I wanted to mess with redownloading apps. I went to the Market(Play Store), clicked on My apps, and got a 2 page option to see every app I have ever downloded, in a list on the second page. It was like the first page had all of the normal stuff that comes back, and a swipe to the left, came up with a list of everything.
I figured it was new, and was happy to think I could have list, and make setting up my phone after a wipe super easy.
I did the wipe, and now can't get it back. Was I dreaming? Or has anyone else seen this?
I just manually downloaded it and installed. It's on DroidLife somewhere...
Here it is: http://www.droid-life.com/2012/03/16/download-new-google-play-store-build-3-5-15/

May have found the source of the re-draw issue

Hey Guys,
If you are having the re-draw issue, try this. I can confirm that it fixed my re-draw issue.
Settings>Developer options>Uncheck "Don't keep activities"
After you do this, you should get the re-draw one more time, afterwards, there should be no more re-draws. I was also able to re-create the re-draw issue when I checked the "Don't keep activities" option.
Hope this helps!
Btw, I'm using the Nordic Combined version of ICS right now.

Isn't that the default option (if you flash a ROM fresh, that option is unchecked by default). So how does it help
Try opening loads of windows in the browser and looking for a good 10-15 mins and see if it's still fixed?

Thanks Mate worked for me too. Initially i also flashed directly on .75 but was feeling lags. Today i reflashed after clearing Internal memory and restoring too default. But today I was very unhappy with the lags that too when i have only the stock softwares. The Leg was killing me when i perform basic functions such as going to dialer and it shows redraw while coming back to home screen the icons on home screen will take second or two to come back and was thinking of going back to GB but your post helped me.
I really don't think sony has worked very well on the update or may be they haven't provided proper installation information to customers.
Please note when i initially flashed wihtout restoring to default and clearing internal memory even for me these options are unchecked. Also today i flashed with SUS not PCC.

To tell you the truth, after flashing and before I did anything else (install apps, etc.), I would go into settings and set everything back to how I had them on GB which included checking that option. So this time around, I installed all apps before settings which led me to discover that that option was what was causing my redraw issue.

I can not confirm whether it does or does not. However, I've taken a browse at some of the folders and files that are left behind from various uninstalled apps and such, I would propose that it is probably a good idea to clear your internal storage and perform a factory reset before your flash. Now, once again, I can not confirm whether this actually does anything, but it's just what I did.
mhm okay.. could you try to open some heavy apps like browser or games and then right after open the dialer or contacts and tell me how fast it is?

I tried it. The initial launch was a slower than normal however, after that, it was fast like normal.
okay.. just cleared everything.. its way faster now imo.. thanks mate! =)
It should be unchecked by default in all pure stock ROMs. If it was enabled on your phone it means you manually enabled it before, or the custom ROM you installed had it enabled.
Yes, it was unchecked. But as a habit (probably because, like everyone in here, I'm obsess with making sure that I have the most amount of memory free), after flashing, I would go and check it; not knowing that it was causing an issue with this version of ICS. Now, I certainly suspect that this alone did not "fix" the issue, I'm thinking that it was a combination of clearing the internal storage, resetting the phone, and not checking "kill application" that fixed this issue.

Stock screen off animation

I just noticed this a few days ago, and it's not a huge deal but I figured I'd ask anyway. I'm currently on The Base 0.7.3, and recently I don't get the stock "iris closing" screen off animation anymore. The screen just blanks out when I turn it off.
I noticed this after I flashed the different 4.2.2 ROMs in the original dev section. After flashing those I restored a backup, which is what I'm using now. After finding the loss of the screen off animation, I've since re-restored the backup, doing a factory reset, wiping cache and dalvik, but nothing works. I guess something must have messed up with my backup, although everything else is perfectly fine. I suppose I could do a clean install of The Base, but I first wanted to find out if anyone else knew what might cause this, or if I could just flash or load some stock file to get it working again. Thanks.

its an animation file in the media folder insiide systems though i am not sure which one
one is like the bootanimation file and theres another one....maybe that is your answer
but still i m not 100% sure about it
placing that file in a rom can help
Also check to make sure window animation in developer options is set to 1. I think any other option stops the screen off animation.

You can look for it in system/media as suggested above but not likely.
Typically it is the framework.res.apk - you would have to decompile, edit, and recompile the apk.
Here is a how-to (have not tried this) YMMV

I think many of us would be very grateful if someone made that animation available as a zip that could be used with any ROM. I know I'd be willing to buy a beer for someone who does.

"Super Clean Wipe" or something like that

Hi people.....w/o long disortation...

I basically dont have gps lock (it locks and then somehow it looses its lock..and through some marvelous people helping we think I am not getting a complete wipe...via twrp... Use FasterGPS to change the gps.conf back to the US. It is fairly straightforward to use, just give it root privileges then:
1. Under continent select North America
2. Once you select continent the Region box will become selectable, you need to choose United States.
It will show a toast message that says the GPS.conf was written successfully, then you just need to load Maps up and it should lock on quickly without losing the signal.
If that doesn't work just post back and I will give you something else to try because AFAIK the Super, Mega, and whatever the hell wipes aren't recommended for this phone and if I am remembering correctly they caused soft bricking on our phones that was a ***** to fix. While this wipes have most likely been fixed I wouldn't bother with them, if you want to do a wipe because what I told you to do doesn't work then you just need to boot into TWRP, click wipe, click the box on the right side (I think its format data or something but I can't remember off the top of my head), type yes, click go and then reflash whatever you want. At least try FasterGPS first, that works most of the time on International Roms.

With this fix you don't have to push anything at all, just boot into recovery and flash it like you would a ROM. Don't bother wiping anything with this fix, just flash it.
http://db.tt/9E3aMJxS
Also pushing files isn't that bad when you use something like Root Explorer, all you have to do is copy and paste it to wherever it needs to be. If you have to fix the permissions after pushing it you just have to long press and change them, it will load a little box with all the permissions and all you have to do is check the ones needed.

What the hell? There was a report of that in the thread in General but I figured it was bogus because the person would never ever reply and every single ROM I have tried it on, TW included, it either fixed or did nothing.
When you restore your nandroid does your GPS go back to the normal non working state?
Something else you could try, that i just thought of when replying to someone in the VRB thread, is making a nandroid of a TW ROM, that you got a strong GPS lock for at least 5 minutes, on your internal SD and then try either reflashing Moon or restoring a nandroid of it. I would probably just reflash it to have a clean slate but I would also understand if you didn't want to have to go through setting it up again.
That probably won't work but I know on my S3 I had to have a working backup on my internal or else GPS refused to work at all, on my Note 2 I have to reflash the fix I linked above if I forget and wipe my nandroid before establishing a lock.
Also are you trying to get a GPS lock with or without the Wireless network setting on? I know on AOSP having the WiFi and Mobile network location setting checked in addition to the regular GPS location it would refuse to even turn the GPS on. You had to have the wireless location setting off before you could get your GPS to work, while this isn't AOSP it could be a shared bug and is worth testing out.

For my Thunderbolt there was a file called "SuperWipe" that was essentially a blank file system that you could flash to your phone to quickly clear EVERYTHING.
I have not seen anything like that for the Note II yet.

It was released right after the phone came out. I want to say it was released in the N7105 forums, it could have been AT&T though, and there were some serious issues it was causing in all the Note 2's. It was supposed to have been worked on but I haven't heard anything since then and honestly wouldn't use it after all the corruption issues that arose from it.

That is the way i have always done it, on CleanROM ACE 4.9, Vanilla Rootbox, and all the other miscellaneous TW and AOSP ROMs I've used it on. It is made for AOSP but didn't hurt any of the TW ROMs I've rested it on.
If it completely got rid of your GPS when you tested it before though it may just not be a good idea to use it on Moon.
When you're testing GPS do you always have the WiFi and Mobile Network Location seeing under Location Settings checked? I know on AOSP for a while you couldn't use that setting at all and then on some TW ROMs you had to use it to get your first lock and after that you could get away with not having it enabled.
I would just flash Moon ROM and see if you can get a lock. Try it after creating a nandroid of a TW ROM that has working GPS on your internal storage, on my S3 the only way I could get a lock on any ROM was to keep a nandroid with working GPS on my internal SD card.
