This is the site Rogers uses to keep people updated on the release schedule for JB. It used to say Mid March for release, and yesterday it was updated to that. Stupid question, but what does that mean?

Samsung has to give the ROM to Rogers, so that they can molest it first by injecting it with bloatware before pushing it out to the devices.
I guess they kept on delaying the dates to Rogers to the point where they are fed up and don't want to give a date. Because it got changed many times.
In spite of the title, this looks like Jellybean talk. Prepare to be deleted, locked and\or moved to that JB only thread.
As stated please use the sticky thread

Certainly, I can say with 100% certainty that nobody knows WHEN for certain.
ICS roms will pop up here as fast as humanly possible once we have source code. As for an official update from Samsung to ICS: given the history with the Captivate getting official gingerbread, don't hold your breath. In fact don't even stay up late waiting for it to get home. You might as well order a pizza and turn on Netflix because you're in for a long, lonely night like an Eagles song.

There shouldn't be any doubt as to whether all the GSII variants will get ICS. They WILL. It is Samsung's flagship phone they are going to support it for a while. Samsung, HTC, Motorola, and Sony Ericsson have signed a new contract with Google to provide more timely updates. Given you may have to wait a few months after source is released to get ICS, after than updates should come very fast. But either way...custom ROMs will probably get you there sooner.
Would SII get Android4.1 JellyBean update?
Not until 16 October 3029. (Yes, we're sick of these threads already)
Nobody knows.

This is a legit question, I don't see why everyone hates.
If you're asking whether the S2 will get an official release the answer is maybe. Yes because JB is not a major release compared to GB->ICS. No because our phones are now a year old and the truth is support will slowly fall off.
If you're asking about a non official release, the answer is most definitely, its just a matter of time, I'm sure all the ROM devs are already off to the races.

The hate is probably because I see 3 separate threads just from today, all asking this same question.
Clearly these folks are:
- ignoring forum rule #1 (search before posting)
- interested in baseless speculation and supposition
Truth is, no one but Samsung can answer if the i9100 is going to get a Samsung release of JellyBean. And yet, people insist on asking this question on an independent developer forum that is in no way affiliated with Samsung.
That said, it's a good bet there will be non-Samsung JellyBean ROMs developed for this device.
But I fully expect the question to be asked a dozen more times, at least.
You forgot - stupid (just like the people who say things like 'This is a legit question, I don't see why everyone hates').

I am admittedly shocked I haven't gotten the update yet. My wife got her update on her galaxy S5 about a week ago. I'm holding the mobile phone of the year abd I'm still waiting...what gives?

It hasn't even been released or announced yet for that matter...
Everyone is waiting. However, Skydragon and Jasmine roms are available if you can't wait. They used the leaked LP builds and patched them to fix the crap Verizon is apparently still unable to figure out (otherwise they would have released by now).
I'm in the same boat. been lurking this forum to see if anyone got official OTA, disappointing...
Was running JasmineROM but switched to SkyDragon as I'm a huge fan of the developer. This rom legit has NO lag. I'm hoping battery life is gonna be a win too.
A few have gotten it, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't just me lol.

Skydragon is great. The battery life is awesome. I cannot stand waiting on slow Verizon to update anything. Also I have to have root. Cannot stand a stock phone lol.

Based on what has been released unofficially (23a and 23b), these are not "ready for prime time" use per the other threads.
No official announcement has been made as to when it will be released. Going to the official LG web site, you will see that currently, 12b is the latest official release.
Go here to see what the latest official release is:
http://www.lg.com/us/support/product-help/CT10000003-CT10000027-1414534794596
It tells you 12b is the latest release. So, not sure why you think the "few" who have received and update have received and official version because they haven't.
In both cases, it appears what they have received are possible private soak tests and for some reason, they got it pushed to their phone.
I believe in both cases, those were replacement phones. Could be those were refurbished phones that possibly registered to receive soak tests? I know when I had Motorola phones, I could register my phone (by IMEI number) and I could receive soak test builds. That might be what happened here in those two cases, but I don't know how LG does their private testing.
In any case, 12b is the only official latest build. 23a and 23b are NOT official builds. So, until we hear an announcement that LG/Verizon are ready to release the LP build, 12b is it for official.
And probably a good reason that they haven't released something yet. too many unresolved bugs I would suppose. At this point with the G4 on the horizon soon, I wish LG would push the 5.1 version and let verizon release that for the G3. Seems too many bugs on what has come so far.

I didn't detect any malice in his post. He was stating facts to quickly put to rest the question of if there's a "real" Lollipop release for the G3 that is pushing out. Best to put questions like that to rest as quickly as possible rather than let them drag out over weeks of "me too" posts.

Huh? Tone? I meant nothing disparaging about it. Sorry if I came across that way. I think you read something into my "tone" that wasn't there.
I was just trying to point you to information that shows that the only official release is currently 12b.
Sorry if you took it as me berating you as that was not my intent nor was I even thinking that when I posted a reply. Just trying to provide you with some helpful information. :good:

In my research to find possible problems or issues WRT rooting and changing firmware, before pulling the trigger and buying a brand new G3, I keep running across occasional references to a firmware version 12C, especially in forum threads where folks have apparently hard-bricked their phones trying to root them and install TWRP.
Post like this one worry me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58039305&postcount=440
Is 12C a real version, or is this a typo from those posters?
So far all I've been able to find for valid firmware versions is 10B, 11C, 12B and now 23A, B and C for unofficial and official Lollipop versions... but no real mention of an official 12C version.
My big worry is that this mysterious version 12C might be a patched update to 12B that has closed off the ability to downgrade to earlier versions to facilitate gaining root and installing TWRP.
Is my worrying unfounded and there's no such thing as 12C ? Or is 12C actually real, and likely what VZW is putting on new phones delivered today? The salesman at the store I spoke with said all he knows is that the new G3s they're selling have "Android 4.4.2" on them and they are not updating them to Lollipop 5.x before handing them out to customers, that's for the customer to decide. The demo G3 I played with last night showed software version VS98512B.

99.99999% likely he hasnt a clue, and doesnt have a 12c build.
i mean he referenced 10c also, and we know there is not that build....

Thanks OP for bringing to our attention so we can LOL some more!
Edit: Yeah, that poster never posted anything else in that thread.
To be clear, OP, you can root and downgrade from any official release so far up to and including 23C_01, and that one's not a typo.

Thanks, I'm probably going to the Verizon store this evening after work to buy it.
I've read in other forums that VZW has been handing out new phones to customers already updated to 23C but I've told the salesman that a condition for me buying the phone will be that it must still be on KitKat or no deal. If after they take it out of the box to power up and activate it, the Lollipop update notice pops up, that under no circumstances install the update.

You can downgrade to 10B, 11(whatever letter) or 12B easily, even from 23A, 23B, 23C (probably 23C_00) and 23C_01.

So far I'm liking it a lot!
are we expecting an update on the 4 of April?
updates are usually planned for the first Monday of the month right?
Right
I personally am not expecting this phone to get updated on the first Monday. And technically that would not even be a month from the last update anyway. For whatever reason Google really hasn't been able to keep this phone on the same schedule as the others. I could be due to the fact that it is the only one and Linux kernel version 5 all others are on version 4. Or maybe it's because they have too much other crap going on with dev previews. We had 12l dp which as really only a feature drop. Then we have 13 beta. And then they announced that the 12l program would be continues as a monthly platform for the next feature drop. So I personally think they took on too much. Then you add in the the p6 is a completely different phone than the previous generations of pixels. They still haven't figured out the modem yet.
So my answer is no I don't expect it the first Monday in April maybe the second Monday.... maybe
Yes l am expecting an update on Monday, Google need to start releasing timely updates for there latest phones.
Without any actual information on which to base my opinion, I'm guessing yes we'll see the update on the 4th. It's not a Feature drop month so the update will be simpler, and they really need to incorporate the dirty pipe patched kernel.
I'm not expecting anything. I'll wait until my Pixel 6 comes back from RMA (for the second time) and then I'll sell that POS.
Haptics!!!
The March update seemed to be on schedule for the older Pixel devices using older kernels. I believe that latest devices with the newer kernels were delayed because of the 0-day exploit that was discovered last-minute. They wanted to patch that in the March update.
So barring anything like that then I would expect Google to be on time with the April update. Or at least not as late as the March update was.
The only bad thing about updates is the unnecessary new threads from peeps not understanding what they are doing.
Also custom Roms create issues.
I guess flashing and modding for the hell of it with no idea why. Is like a drug to some peeps.

The fix is in kernel version 5.10.102 and above and the kernel version for the March update is 5.10.66. The CVE for this vulnerability is not listed in the March update either.
I don't believe they fixed this in March.

You are correct. They didn't fix the dirty pipe vulnerability with the March update and in fact Google confirmed that the delay in March was not due to this particular vulnerability.

I guess I should have looked that up.
But I'm really not bothered about when in the month the updates come as long as they come. Though I'm coming from an LG phone and updates weren't really a thing I expected from them.

AS far as I know, the dirty pipe vulnerability can be included in a compromised app.
Fido hasn't listed anything yet.
The March update was released on 03/21, right? That will be two weeks tomorrow -- seems an awful short turnaround.
I'll be pretty surprised if the April update rolls out on the 4th.
It`s here.

Still Kernel 5.10.66.
