I am admittedly shocked I haven't gotten the update yet. My wife got her update on her galaxy S5 about a week ago. I'm holding the mobile phone of the year abd I'm still waiting...what gives?

Everyone is waiting. However, Skydragon and Jasmine roms are available if you can't wait. They used the leaked LP builds and patched them to fix the crap Verizon is apparently still unable to figure out (otherwise they would have released by now).

Was running JasmineROM but switched to SkyDragon as I'm a huge fan of the developer. This rom legit has NO lag. I'm hoping battery life is gonna be a win too.
A few have gotten it, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't just me lol.

Skydragon is great. The battery life is awesome. I cannot stand waiting on slow Verizon to update anything. Also I have to have root. Cannot stand a stock phone lol.

Based on what has been released unofficially (23a and 23b), these are not "ready for prime time" use per the other threads.
No official announcement has been made as to when it will be released. Going to the official LG web site, you will see that currently, 12b is the latest official release.

It tells you 12b is the latest release. So, not sure why you think the "few" who have received and update have received and official version because they haven't.
In both cases, it appears what they have received are possible private soak tests and for some reason, they got it pushed to their phone.

I know when I had Motorola phones, I could register my phone (by IMEI number) and I could receive soak test builds. I didn't detect any malice in his post. He was stating facts to quickly put to rest the question of if there's a "real" Lollipop release for the G3 that is pushing out. Best to put questions like that to rest as quickly as possible rather than let them drag out over weeks of "me too" posts.

Late last week, LG’s French arm had apparently confirmed that the LG Optimus G will be getting updated to Android 4.4 Kit Kat within the month, marking one of the first release dates for the new platform. I know it's not gonna happen but a guy can dream right.
I just got an LGOG this morning, rooted, unlocked (both bootloader and carrier), installed TWRP, then got Carbon's latest nightly and houstonn's Adreno kernel working great tweaked out with some Trickster mods and at this moment it's just fantastic (of course I've only had it a few hours but it's damned fast and snappy, hence my sig now).
To even hope that Kit Kat would be coming for this device is pretty amazing, and considering it's definitely got enough power and resources to handle it, I would love to see it actually happen.
If not, 4.3 is gonna work just fine for me, but bring it on, Google, gimme a Kit Kat.

This is not the first mention of this either, there's another thread or two that I tripped over last night doing all the research before I committed to getting this LGOG earlier, so... a Mod may come along and clip this or merge/move it, just so you know.
Certainly plausible. We all know of the similarities between the Nexus 4 and OG. Obviously the Nexus 4 will be updated immediately, can't think of any good reason why the OG would be too far behind. Either way official or not we'll see 4.4 before long.

If true, and that is a VERY BIG if considering 4.4 hasn't been released yet, congrats to international LG Optimus G users. Unfortunately, having the AT&T version, we won't see it til early-mid 2014 (if ever). I suppose we can dream though.

If you're asking me, I used that freemyblackberry.com site, they didn't have any "free" unlock codes available so I paid the $4 for it and got the code back in about 8 minutes, punched it in with my T-Mobile SIM already in place and it worked without a single hiccup whatsoever.
I have some friends that are very long time AT&T customers but I didn't feel like bugging them to call AT&T and ask for a code on my behalf, was easier and far faster to just buy it for $4.
For those that can't wait - and let's face it, the chances of AT&T actually giving us a working 4.4 update ever are incredibly slim at this point - houstonn is outta the gate with the first (mostly) functional 4.4 build for our LGOG devices, you can find info in his thread in the original development subforum starting at post #3503:

He's already up to a V2 release, Wi-Fi is working, camera issues are being reported, and the extSD card functionality isn't there just yet but, if you want to get KitKat up and running (for the most part), that's our option at this moment. I highly doubt this is going to happen for the AT&T US version LGOG. (e970). Someone just posted today about an email he received from LG saying they are NOT updating the e970 to KitKat.

If its not bypassed then I'm sure its a prep for the L update. We all know that often there is an update before the next big os jump. But idk. We shall see. Maybe its an update long overdue anyway. Lol

with the LS990ZV5 update, Your G3 OS is still Android 4.4.2. The update should bring some minor fixes and security patch. Like the G3 D855 model have recently receive update with some security patch!
By the way, Some one already got the Android 5.0 Update on LG G3 F400S Model

If you have TWRP don't take the OTA.
If you're not rooted, but think you want to root, don't take the OTA until we find out if it's been patched to prevent current root methods.
If you are rooted with stock recovery, don't take the OTA until we find out if it breaks root.
I'm hoping it fixes the horrible auto brightness and occasional unresponsive screen. Other than that couldn't be happier.

At&t just got an update
Lameooo... I first found out about the Sprint LS990ZV5 update on November 6. It is now the 19... almost two weeks... Sprint Reps tell me they haven't heard of it... REALLY?
I have a possibly awesome phone without a working compass... that sucks! Of course, the update may NOT even have a compass fix. Who knows?!

I give it 24-48 hours before it is announced. Maybe sooner before someone finds the file and posts it.

UPDATE: I won't have the time to mess with it too much tonight but it still uses Android source 4.4.2_r2 so no Lollipop yet.

In my research to find possible problems or issues WRT rooting and changing firmware, before pulling the trigger and buying a brand new G3, I keep running across occasional references to a firmware version 12C, especially in forum threads where folks have apparently hard-bricked their phones trying to root them and install TWRP.

Is 12C a real version, or is this a typo from those posters?
So far all I've been able to find for valid firmware versions is 10B, 11C, 12B and now 23A, B and C for unofficial and official Lollipop versions... but no real mention of an official 12C version.
My big worry is that this mysterious version 12C might be a patched update to 12B that has closed off the ability to downgrade to earlier versions to facilitate gaining root and installing TWRP.
Is my worrying unfounded and there's no such thing as 12C ? Or is 12C actually real, and likely what VZW is putting on new phones delivered today? The salesman at the store I spoke with said all he knows is that the new G3s they're selling have "Android 4.4.2" on them and they are not updating them to Lollipop 5.x before handing them out to customers, that's for the customer to decide. The demo G3 I played with last night showed software version VS98512B.

I've read in other forums that VZW has been handing out new phones to customers already updated to 23C but I've told the salesman that a condition for me buying the phone will be that it must still be on KitKat or no deal. If after they take it out of the box to power up and activate it, the Lollipop update notice pops up, that under no circumstances install the update.

You can downgrade to 10B, 11(whatever letter) or 12B easily, even from 23A, 23B, 23C (probably 23C_00) and 23C_01.

Agreed this 509 firmware is stagefright patched and was built like 5 weeks ago and its 5.0.2 I think this is all were getting and since the Z4v is no longer coming out I belive 5.0.2 is the end of the road for the Z3v. This 509 firmware is good though.
I can understand your frustration, but I wouldn't take it for 100% that Sony is intentionally excluding the Z3V... They will probably send the marshmallow firmware to Verizon, and because of that, we'll probably never receive it unless we get a lucky leak, but I doubt that because I don't think it'll even be a candidate for Internal Testing as I'm sure Verizon plans to push Lollipop, fulfill their year old promises, and be done with their EOL device.. so even if Sony does send them the firmware, Verizon is most likely going to sit on it until it's buried... But you have to think with articles like these, even if they are press statements from Sony, it's still likely that they could leave out the Z3V unintentionally because even though its a variant of the Z3, by saying the Z3 is getting the update, they could be collectively including the Z3V along with that... but either way, I agree that we'll most likely never get this update, and that sucks.... But I do think Verizon is going to give us the latest Lollipop for sure.... There's no reason not to jump it to 5.1.1 if Sony gave them the firmware, it's not a major update... Thanks so much for the recognition. Somehow my leaked FTF of Lollipop was taken down, so I wasn't even sure if people still knew that I was the one that brought us that first Lollipop leak. I'm going to build us an amazing rom too.. I'm just waiting on Verizon to push their official build so that I won't be wasting my time building an outdated rom lol... U know like last time :/

you know are phones should be pretty close to being able to be unlocked by Verizon I was looking on eBay and there are unlocked Z3V's I dont know if they kept the drm keys but anyway once they release the final version..and we get our bootloader unlocked then we can go crazy. (edit)Unless that's a carrier unlock Im not sure if that unlocks the bootloader or if their the same.

FWIW VoLTE is working, for me at least, on .509 so I think we're getting really close to the official release.

while your here are you rooted and have you deleted any system apps I'm curious...I know you had advanced calling before on your plan so that part makes sense.

rooted yes, froze a few apps, mostly vzw with tibu but nothing deleted.

I think they mean carrier unlocked, which all vzw phones are now, since like the Galaxy S4. Boot loader and carrier unlock are two completely different things.

my girlfriends droid turbo just received android 5.1 -
It was written on September 1st one day after ours was (509)-5.0.2 so maybe........ Soon or not it's Verizon.

Maybe leaked Marshmallow FTF for the Z3v soon.

Just though all the kids on here would like to know that there is a 6.0 release over the 5.1.1, after all numbers mean so much on this forum.

I wasn't trying to be rude either I have had this phone for almost a year since it first came out and have received no support for this phone at all I have spent literally hundreds of hours trying to fix this phone myself because verzions incompetence I'm not sure for the reason for the leak or how it happened but I doubt very much we will receive 6.0 and I don't really give a **** I would just like them to realease a Lollipop version so I can have a feature I was promised a year ago -advanced calling. Also quick charge 2.0 is a listed feature- it's not. Verizon = Liars. Look at the Z4v that's a disaster to.

I am pretty tough skinned, it takes more than what you said to be considered "rude" to me.
I agree B.S. what VZW has done with the Advanced Calling 1.0, I am tired of getting the stepchild phones and VZW keeping us from getting the next OS release due to heavy-handed control. I mean Z3 getting a beta test for Marshmallow, seriously? Maybe the guy who got the leak can get Marshmallow leak, but I would like to have the latest OS if possible and I am sure others will agree.
An AOSP with a unlocked bootloader, I miss those days.

It is fake
Man it was so great to have the Droid when it first came out. ROM competition was tremendous and you could lead anything you wanted; if you could dream it, someone was already working on it.
I have 4 of those beauts!

I have a similar experience. My last phone was a Galaxy Nexus, it was an embarrassment of riches as far as being able to modify it. Different ROMs everywhere you looked, modified kernels, etc... Thanks to baldwinguy77 I was running KitKat 3 days after Google introduced it, even before any manufacturers had released phones with it.
The Xperia's lack of popularity with the general public is probably the cause of it's noticeable lack of developer interest. Few devs have one so few work on it.
I really like the phone, it's battery life is second to none. I may have to be satisfied running Lollipop but at least it is rooted so there's that.

Some really bad news for anyone that's been unfortunate enough to purchase an A7 EU version.
I have contacted ZTEUK on FB messenger directly to ask about the Nougat update and this is their exact response.
"Hi Mike, Please keep an eye out on our social channels for any information regarding updates. We do not currently have plans to update to Nougat though this may change. Thanks, the ZTE UK team."
Taking into account the amount of EU phones out there this is beyond dreadful in terms of treatment, the question is, where do we go from here? I didn't want to bother rooting the phone, but is there any option left now it's possibly not getting the update at all?
No daydream, no patch fixes, no volume fix, the list goes on!!
How do we pressure ZTE into dealing with this, failing that what other options do we have?

There has been an extensive Nougat test going on as well as confirmations on twitter etc.
G Version will get Nougat.

Don't worry, it just furthers the idea that global organization of ZTE is totally lacking, especially for their EU customers (far behind their american ones). Nougat was announced first by ZTE Germany back in November (originally planned for end of january) and is currently undergoing beta testing as far as I know. The thing is, ZTE Germany is apparently taking care of the dev for the G version but they officially supports only german customers, even if they kinda tried to create an "european" community. Other european branches (it's the case for ZTE france at least) of ZTE seem to be only PR posting advertisement on facebook/twitter. IMO, your rep just copy pasted the basic stonewalling response to this question and has either no information whatsoever or wanted to answer politely without getting carried away.
(If anyone has more info, feel free to correct me)

Coming from US nougat. There's still bugs, battery drain, etc. Issues that are in the release. I'd rather be back in MM honestly. A stable and complete release would've been better instead of releasing early due to demand. Just look up the issue with whatsapp. Millions of users and they didn't notice such a glaring bug.
I can say without a doubt in my mind that the Axon 2017G will also get Nougat. They are usually a little behind the US team with releases so I imagine it will probably be sometime in March
I wouldn't be surprised if you could just flash the bootstack and modem from LineageOS thread and flash A2017U system on top. I'm totally satisfied with LineageOS, so I'm not even thinking on doing that now or in the future.
The G Variant needs more time than us because they want to fix all founded bugs and increase the quality. like musicdjm said, it will release end feb. or beginning of march. zte could Release it in the end of January but there were too many bug, because of that they started a beta test phase and postponed the Release date

Yes you can. Few of us already using the B15 N ROM on the G model. All you need is an unlocked BL and TWRP, flash the universal N bootloader, N modem for G and the B15 stocksystem all by DrakenFX.

The Phone stuck on Bootloader Warning Screen.

I have the US ZTE Axon 7 (A2017U) and updated to Nougat. What is the WhatsApp bug again? I haven't noticed anything but you can tell me and I will cry in a corner once I know. :crying:
@op When everything else fails, go to change.org and create a petition. The ASUS Zenfone 2 users did that and they are apparently getting the Nougat update in July.
