Yes! I want to install ICS not GB rom on my phone with locked BL.
I have read a post about installing cwm on locked BL, but I dont know if it would work.
Hi please suggest iam half NOOB HERE may be full. locked bootloader
i have seen many threads some gives warning that only for Unlocked bootloaders some don't . in that scenario half NOOBS ARE CONFUSED
and give a try to flash things which is not clear and get stucked
these are my some questions which may help me and other noobs..
please kind mods need help
1) can custom kernels are possible to flash on locked bootloader ?
2) super_stock_boot_v3.img- can this flash via fastboot on locked bootloader ?
3) there are some tweaked stock rom and kernels- (example :cyclops LIKE THIS
thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719973
can this also flashed on locked bootloader
Everybody are noob at 1st try, nobody is professional out of box !
you just need to read all the related stuff and pay attention.
let me try to answer your questions with the best of my knowledge,
1- Custom kernels or any kernel cannot install on locked boot loader, actually there's only one reason to unlock the boot loader, and that is to install the custom kernel.
2- super_stock_boot_v3.img is kernel & so it required unlocked boot loader.
3- you can flash some Roms on Locked boot loader, which don't required custom kernels, & can work on Stock kernels, but Roms which required Custom kernels cannot flashed on locked boot loader.
thank you ...
that was very helpful and useful ..:good:
so i have to unlock the bootloader to flash any kernel or custom roms..
which is the bestway to unlock xda method or official

Good.
Then you can proceed with s1tool.
Read instructions in neo v dev section.

i have not rooted it yet...my question is not regarding the root..
my device is running on gingerbread ...if i root it and install a custom ROM (ICS Based) do i have to get it unlocked again??
if its unlocked its unlocked, only way you will lose unlock is if you brick your device.

Incorrect.
Once you flash a rooted kernel its rooted. You could then flash a non-rooted rom (stock for example) and not have root access, until you flash another rooted kernel.
is the bootloader unlocked? can we expect more custom roms? there are very few atm

We don't have a pro dev for our phone.
So don't ask for roms, start developing by yourself.

Actually, we haven't unlocked the bootloader, but we have found a way to bypass the Secure Boot Check and, as a side effect, we also got access to fastboot commands.
Sent from my D620R [Stock 4.4.2]
There are tons of guides on unlocking the bootloader on Kenzo, both official and unofficial. But how to do it on Kate? Does the same methods work or do we have some other way of doing it?
The only method I've found was on Xiaomi's forums, but it looks kinda sketchy, anyone tried it? https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads...unlock-redmi-note-3-se-kate-bootloader.36255/
