[Q] Email used1.45 GB this month! - Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE

Emailed used 1.45 GB this month causing my data plan to almost hit 4G. I had to turn off data on my cell phone and my wifes until the 16th when it resets.
I looked at the break down on verizon and there are a few days showing 600 MB of data.. i checked my email and there are no big emails or attachments for those days..
What happened?
I changed my email to check only every 30 min and to only download email headers. Think that will help?
I've only come as close as 3G total (mine and my wife) before.
Please let me know what I can do to limit my email data use.
PS, i'm using the stock "mail" app.

[Q] SMS Time Error

Hello,
I am using an unlocked TG01 from Orange (UK) on Rogers in Canada (GMT -5), using the official 6.5 ROM. CE OS 5.2.21840 (Build 21840.5.0.60)
My SMS messages recieved are logged 5 hours behind current time. My SMS messages sent are logged at the current time. My suspicion is that it has to do with the origin of the phone, from the UK.
I have searched xda forums and modaco forums, microsoft, and google.
I have total commander, and have modified the registry in a few was, as described below:
I have added the TrustTimeZoneField field dword (in HKLM\System\Phone Settings\OEM ... or whatever it was.)
I have modifed HKLM\Time Zones to include Eastern Standard Time with the proper TZI file.
I have tried to set the timezone to another setting (like GMT -3) reset the phone, and then change it back, and it doesn't not work.
I have download a cab file that was supposed to fix it too.
I am looking for any other ideas, please, and thanks.
Also, My Voice Mail indicator does not come on when I get a VM, but comes on and stays on when I clear the VM. I get the blank text messages from the system in with my normal texts, that are sent to indicate VM has been cleared
i've been using HushSMS to clear my VM indicator, so if anyone knows how to make this work properly, that'd be great.
bump
bump.
Anyone have the sms time issue on this device?
Have you changed the time zone in the clock settings??
On my phone (UK Orange, using O2 UK sim card) when I have my time set incorrectly, the txt message times are correct!

Yeah, I've tried that. There's an inconsistency between sent SMS and received SMS of 5 hours. I've tested it by sending myself a text message, and I recieve it 5 hours before I send it.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Maybe your phone time travels!?
Have you tried a hard reset? (Master Clear) Also the SMS times are received from the network operators, might help to call them?
Hey, thanks for the response Big K.
I'm trying to avoid the master reset.. it's about the only option I haven't tried. Technically it shouldn't make a difference, but .. i know how that works with Windows.
I did call the network and they were useless (surprise!)

Do a full backup of your phone using software like SPB backup, then perform a master rest, see if it works. If it doesn't, then you can simply restore EVERYTHING back
There is a setting somewhere to use network time etc, maybe this is activated in yours?
Seems like the only choice at this point.
I'll probably do it this weekend.
I have no idea where those network time settings are that you're talking about, and google didn't help at all either. Thanks for your assistance.

Did a hard reset, still no good.
Used Sprite Backup to restore all applications.
Think it could possibly be an app problem? I doubt it, but i guess i should have tested the SMS issue before restoring the apps. Will do another hard reset in the next day or two and keep updated.
Yes, that is what I meant......test the SMS out BEFORE restoring lol
Otherwise when restored, all registry settings etc go back to where it was! lol
If the hard reset does fix it, only restore your user files, such as txt messages, files etc. NOT program files etc and then test. Install a few apps and test. Few more apps and test etc!
Yah, that was silly on my part.
I will retest and repost. I have 2 days off, tomorrow and the next.
I'll let you know.
Ok, so i hard reset the phone today.
Set the time to GMT-5 EST. SPB Mobile shell 3.0.1 Build 136621 is hard coded with the Rom, by the way.
So, i sent a test message. Time sent 17:02, Recieved 12:02
I reset the time to visiting GMT-8 Pacific, reset the phone.
So, i sent a test message. Time sent 14:06 Recieved 09:05
Thoughts? Should i hard reset and try setting it to a different time?
If so, what time?
So I tried setting the time to GMT +2 after a heard reset, and the time was 2 hours behind on SMS messages.
I then set the time to GMT-5 (EST) and it went back to it's normal 5 hours behind.
When I set the time to London (GMT0) it comes in 7 hours ahead.
I'm officially confused.
Now i've hard reset and set it to GMT0 and it is in synch, sent and received.
If i then go into time settings and change it to GMT-5, it still works, in synch.
Ifi change the time to the proper time after changing it to GMT-5, then it doesnt work.. it is 5 hours behind on received texts..
My solution then: hard reset, set it to GMT, but set the time to 5 hours behind GMT... that should work.
What do you mean by,
SPB Mobile shell 3.0.1 Build 136621 is hard coded with the Rom
As the 4 TG01's I have had from Orange UK have never came with any SPB software
Do this.
Hard reset. DO NOT install anything or have the memory card inserted. Have someone send a txt message and see what time it is, don't even bother changing the time as the txts should have their own time.
This is what I did in post #12.
I hard reset - set the time, timezone and date during setup
As soon as it loaded, i sent myself an SMS.
The only way the time is correct is if I leave it on GMT0, set the time to current local time which is EST, but leave the timezone on GMT0.
If I do that, then the SMS sent and recieved times are the same.
I can't leave it like that of course, my comp corrects it on sych, and all my appointments are off by 5 hours.
and SPB mobile shell IS hard coded mate. See post in ROM Development:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625791&page=2
I'm getting the same problem too and I'm on Rogers as well.
I bought my hTC TD2 (topaz) in Taiwan but I'm using custom ROMs.
So far, from all the ROMs I've used (custom and official), all received SMS are 5 hrs late but the sent time was correct.
However, if the SMS was sent from Taiwan, the received time is correct!
My cousin's hTC Magic is experiencing the same problem too, so i guess it's Roger's problem.
The SMS are following the network's time (which is set to EST regardless of where you received them).
You might wanna call Rogers to see if they have solutions to this (yeah... it's getting annoyed to see incorrect time when you are having a SMS convo.... sent time are 5 hrs ahead of received time )
Guys If its work with time zone 0 set it in time zone 0. I mean universal time you have 3 different chose one and that is it.
If i set it to timezone0 then every time my computer synch's with my PC it changes it to GMT-5
Plus, all my appointments will be off.
Guys, I found the solution to this problem
Like I said before, the phone is reading the time from the network's tower (for Rogers users, it's EST regardless of where you are in Canada)
Now, if you go and find a cab file called "Ziggy2016Fix.cab", it'll fix up the problem.
That cab file was used to fix a known SMS problem which is constantly showing year 2016 as the SMS received time, however it can also fix the time delay problem
It worked on my phone, let me know if yours work too.

Checking for minutes and text usage

Where on the phone can you check for voice and text usage?
I've looked all over and through the phone but to no avail.
Thanks
if your on tmobile, then you can go to contacts and see, if you deleted it then for balance its...
#225#
text is
#674#
minutes is
#646#
call those numbers it'll say USSD code running and give you your info in a sec.
else use your MY ACCOUNT app from teh market by tmobile
The my account app from tmo shows all that info

True. However, if you are on a family plan then your tmobile my account app will show the minutes used by just your phone and not the combined minutes used by all the phones on the plan. This was changed in the latest version of my account app. For all minutes used on a family you will have to use #646# method.

[Q] Can't Send/Receive picture messages

My friend got a TB and can't send or receive pictures via mms. He gets the exact same message as a poster on a different forum:
"I just wanted to throw this out there as I have not found a solution...
I've had my Thunderbolt for like a week and a half now and for the majority its been great. Starting about yesterday, I've been unable to send or receive MMS/picture messages.
If someone sends me one, I get a little note in my conversation that says "so and so" is trying to send a message and lets me choose download or delete. This seems new to me, I don't remember seeing this notification in my text convo. If I choose download, it shows a little icon with a clock in it, as its trying to download the picture. After about 5 minutes, I get a notification that it failed because of a generic network failure.
A similar thing happens if I try to send a message to someone with a picture in it. My regular texting works fine and I can go on the internet perfectly. I've tried sending messages with WiFi and/or Mobile Data on/off... doesn't seem to make a difference.
Called VZW last night and they took me through battery pulls, SIM card pulls, and whatnot... didn't fix the problem. They were checking things on their end but did not see an issue. The last woman I got gave me two options, 1, she could open a network tix for me or 2, I could go to store and do a phone swap as I'm in my converage period. I told her to put in the tix for now, and perhaps I'd swap this weekend.
Anyone have any idea what is going on?"
So far nobody has answered. He's using stock rom, and the stock messaging settings / handcent settings match the way they are set on my Evo. If anybody could help it would be greatly appreciated.
is it on 3G or 4G? MMS will not work unless your in data coverage
Does not work on 3g, 4g, or Wi-fi.
what about sending it through regular messaging? I couldn't tell if he is using Handcent or using regular messaging. How about uninstalling Handcent?
The problem persists with or without handcent.
Make sure the picture being sent is not too big. If this doesn't do it you may have to call Verizon about it. Going back a few years I had an issue with my dumb phone. Couldn't receive picks. They had to reset my account. Also some providers don't always send pic messages so well to verizon. Have your friend have some on on Verizon send him a pic.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

Email accounts not checked over 4G

So I've been using this Rezound for almost 2 weeks.
I have 4 Email accounts setup on it.
The default primary account is an IMAP, of the remaining three...two are POP and one is IMAP.
All of them are set to check for new email every hour during peak and off-peak times.
I have noticed that when I'm connected to 4G that only my default primary account is being checked every hour, while my other three accounts are not.
But if I connect the phone to my home WiFi, then all four of the accounts get checked once an hour.
I'm not sure if this may be related in some way to the browser issue I'm having here images are not loaded and show as question marks when using 4G but not 3G or WiFi.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362114
Can you manually try to sync the other 3 accounts when on 4G? I've had problems syncing my corporate exchange account over 4G (3g works fine). Have a ticket opened with VZ and HTC. it's been 2 weeks now w/o no resolution.
From what I have heard lately , VZW doesn't have all the bugs out of 4G LTE yet and that is probably responsible for a lot of problems this phone is having.

Yes, when I go into the email app, it will then download the emails that I received since the last time I manually checked them. But once I leave the app, it will not download them every hour like it is supposed to do. This is when connected to 4G. When I'm on WiFi it will check every hour.

Duplicate / Delayed Texts

Hey all,
I purchased this phone off Amazon about 6 weeks ago and instantly feel in love with it. And this was right before they announced that Sony would be selling these phones in local retailers in the US.
I've noticed for the last few weeks now, however, that some texts are coming in multiple times. It can range from 3-7 times that I receive the same text, and you can imagine how annoying that'd be. Sometimes, when I send a text to someone, I'll receive a duplicate of the previous text I got from whoever last texted me. Sometimes, I won't receive a text until much later- up to hours later. To top it off, sometimes MMS or group texts won't come through without prompting me to download the text. It wasn't bad at first, as it would happen sparingly, but now it's constant.
I've tried many options, from
- switching and updating/downgrading texting apps (Hangouts, Messenger, Stock texting app)
- editing and switching APN settings
- clearing my phone's cache.
To give some context, I transferred over my data from my Moto X 2013 and moved everything to my SD card the next day after transferring everything. The phone is not rooted. I'm also on AT&T but haven't contacted them about the issues yet (I would rather avoid hours of basic troubleshooting, unless they can actually fix it).
I'd really like to not have to lose all my text messages, and I shouldn't have to. Has anyone else had a similar problem and managed to fix it? What other routes should I try? If factory reset is the only option, what's the best way to back up and restore all my data (contacts, photos, texts)?

are you using the stock texting app? I had these issues when I tried to use a 3rd party messenger a very long time ago. other than that Ive not had this issue.
also maybe check out your system time, something might be up with your towers in the area. I use clocksync as cricket had issues a few months back and I fell in love with the app.

Thanks for the reply,
I use Hangouts as my default texting app. The week that I used the Stock Texting app, I still received duplicates and delayed texts, so I switched back to an interface that I enjoyed more. (Also, the Stock texting app is sometimes really slow when opening conversations)
My system time is on point, but I went ahead and turned off automatic sync for the time and dates.
What settings do you use for Clocksync, and did it fix any texting issues? I just now installed it.
Update to Marshmallow. See if that fixes the problem

Come to think of it google talk is what I was using when I was having those issues haha. probably not related but its something to keep in mind.
i use 1 hour intervals only when awake. idk if you need to be rooted or not for it to work.
There may be a problem with your sim card. Had this a while ago on another phone. Got the sim card replaced and it was gone
A few days later and I have some updates:
1. Have yet to change out my sim card. I will be going to ATT tomorrow to see if that fixes the issue.
2. Marshmallow update is not yet available. However, if I read it right, won't it disable using an external sd card? I wouldn't want to be rid of that feature, it was a big selling point for me.
3. I switched to the stock text message app, and it seemed to work well. It stopped duplicated texts from happening, but some MMS texts don't come through to me at all, and if they do they appear much later. Some texts I receive don't come in until about at least an hour after the contact sent it. Sometimes even 7 hours. Not to mention, the app itself is terribly slow.
4. I tried to switch back to Hangouts for a day after downgrading the app and using the stock texting app, but still had the existing issues from before.
5. Clocksync hasn't done anything for me.
Double Post,
Update:
It appears that getting a new SIM card did the trick after all. Went to the store on Saturday, days ago, and the texts don't appear to be duplicating and they seem to be showing up on time. I'm even back on Hangouts again. Yay!
You just need the patience to deal with how busy the store may be.
If anything changes, I'll let y'all know.
