Hi
Can we close the app fully (no running in the background) with back button (by holding it for a few seconds). I was able to do this on my MT4G with the MIUI ROM.Sometimes when an app like SKYPE freezes it helped me to force close the app
Thanks!

fastest way I've found to FC a misbehaving app is go to home, recent apps list, long press, app info, force close
Why not just use the recent apps way of closing an app?

I use Vignette since a while and am very happy with this program.
Now i want to assign Vignette to my camera button so it will open when I press it.
I searched everywhere on my phone but couldn't find it. It sounds to me it should be extremely easy but for some reason I can't figure it out.
Does anyone know how to assign an app to your camera button??
Cheers,
Arnold
Open Settings, Applications, Manage Applications, (wait for it to load), Camera.
Click "Clear Defaults". The next time you press the camera button you'll be prompted as to what application you want to use with it.
The same feature works for other apps, for example Messaging, you can choose another app to handle SMS.
Thank you very much for replying, but I can't clear defaults as there aren't any selected according to the system. Strange thing is however, after I been in this camera settings, my camera button does nothing at all anymore when I push it...
I have the feeling I move further away from what I wanted than coming closer...

You have to press it hard for 2 seconds.. try it... this button is kind of hard to press...
i pressed it so hard for about ten seconds, it almost came out on the other side but the button has now no function at all
Didn't work
Didn't work for me either. Followed the instructions and it just took slightly longer when i mashed the camera button.
Try uninstalling the vignette app rr install and press camera button it should ask which one you would like to set by default

Is it possible to change the way the home button acts? I dislike the way when you hit the home button it puts the current app into a background process. Could we change it so like an iPhone the home button fully closes an app when pressed?

Excuse me, but I believe the iPhone puts the process to background too.
Right now im using the cynogenmod 7 KANG's version, when you go to the USB settings there is a option to fully close an app by holding the back button. You can also customize the home/menu button using that rom.

Thanks man! I've found the option in the application development but how do i customise it further?
What does everyone use when exiting apps, home button or back button?
It's my understanding that pressing the home button leaves the app running in the background so more battery would be used?

Depends! If I want to check another app quickly then return I use home (multitasking). If I don't want to use again I always press the back button to kill the process.

Since they have different functionality, your question doesn't really make sense. You use both, depending on what you want to do.
Also, the back button doesn't kill the process, afaik there are cases when the application could remain still running.

Yep, messaging and the stock browser...there are others too...
I just stopped trying to close apps one way or the other. I just "do what i want" (e.g. surf to a website, check an app) and then leave the phone without exiting any apps. After some time I'll check the same site/service anyway, and if I want to do something else it's still just a few presses away.
Hi...it possible kill the app with long pressure on back-softkey like the nexus s?
It's very useful...
Thanks in advance..
Long press home brings up task manager...
not actually sure if it does, I think so... anything I want to kill i use task manager..
Exiting an app by using the back key closes it anyway. Closing it via the home button leaves it open.

OK..but I've to open the task manager..in the nexus just hold back soft key for 1sec and the app was kill..
So i didn't need to open the task manager..

did you close the application or just pressing your home button and re-opening the apps ?
in some case, the apps will read your action pressing home button like the exit button, so the apps just killing itself

Did u press the hm button or the back button? If home button, when u switch over to it, it shld resume instead of restarting the app. However if u press back button, when u switch over to the app. It will be new instead of resuming. Rmb if u wan multi task, press hm button. And when u wan to return back to the app. Hold the hm button and find the app and press it. Dun open it thru the apps place.
