Well, I just had it pop up again. Looks like others are having this "silent update" pushed to their phones and not completing. This is from the reviews on the Play Store:

Open up the "downloads" app in your drawer, select and delete the Facebook file that is there.
Connect to Wi-Fi. Facebook is self updating but will only do it over Wi-Fi. Well that is what happened when I connected.

I tried that, but it would only delete the updates for Facebook. Guess it came pre-installed on the DNA.

Facebook decided to selfupdate the app but it only does so on wifi. Just connect to wifi.

Not sure if this is where I should be posting, but here goes anyway.
Facebook app stopped working, wouldn't even load.
So, I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall.
The download went fine, but during the install process I get:
"Unknown error code during application install: '-24'"
And the install fails.
I'm running CleanROM and the CRT-off mod on an AT&T Note 2.
The app worked for the first couple of days that I had CleanROM but I'm guessing that it is the current Facebook update that is causing the issue.
Anyone else experience this or anyone have a solution?
Thanks.

A dumb app. I get those to. But removed the suspicious apps that might have caused the popup adds. As soon as you remove the apps that might be causing this you wont get them anymore.

It's an ad, usually from a warez app or you put your phone number out on the internet for some free smileys..

That's generally the message you get when your profile is updating.
I got that yesterday out of the blue also. Except on mine, it went away after a bit, and gave a message to the effect of "Your services have been updated". Still rooted and unlocked though. I did have rootkeeper installed, but I don't know if that came into play or not.

Neither of them make a reference to service update

I had the same thing and once completed it said that my PRL had been updated.
PRL is now 25004
Ya I got that about an hr ago. I was trying to do a speed test after I updated PRL. I kept getting error try again. So I updated profile, that went through fine then tried to run another test, but before the test started my screen went black and did the Service Update
I had that occur after I updated the Prl both times. After I clicked on my Kindle app it updated the 'service'. Did you recently update your Prl?
I'm thinking it has some link to that.
Mine had the same message, but the only change I saw was a PRL update.
its a profile update

Don't input your password there, whatsoever,
It'll probably steal it.
Check your system/app for unknown apps.
It's a stock blur rom on a droid 4. 90% of the apps are unknown to me lol. Anything more specific?
Sent from my DROID4 using xda app-developers app
Sorted it by date, nothing newer than april 12, which seems about the time i did a system update.
Sent from my DROID4 using xda app-developers app
I've seen this a couple times today, and so have a few others in the forums. It definitely doesn't seem device/ROM specific. I was thinking the same thing: "hope I'm not being hacked" lol.
This reminds me of a month or two ago, when I got a popup saying someone suspicious had tried to access my Google acct., but Google denied the login. That was different tho, because I myself was locked out of my acct. until I logged in on a pc and sorted it out/changed my password.

Moving to Q&A
I would install pdroidand try to determine which app is asking for the password.
From there you should be able to determine whether it's legit or not.
I also recommend you install Droid Wall and see if any rogue app is trying to connect out to the internet.
I can't post any links yet but both are available from Play Store.
From pdroid's thread at xda:
" Will only work with deodexed ROMs (take a look into your ROM's system/framework directory; if there are any *.odex files, your ROM is NOT deodexed)"
And apparently the stock rom on droid 4 is not deodexed.
It's a shame though, pdroid looks fantastic. I'll give droidwall a spin and see what i find. I haven't got any notifications since last night though.
Sent from my DROID4 using xda app-developers app
Too bad.
Give Droidwall a spin and see if you notice any suspicious connections. At least that should help you narrow down the list of potential suspect apps.
If you have the time and inclination I would flash another ROM and install Pdroid too. This is specially true if privacy is a big concern for you.
Good luck.

Hi there! I'm having some doubts about the phone, switching between apps forces app refresh, even if I switch only for a couple of seconds. If I was filling up a form and had to check something in another app (let's say a bank app), everything I completed resets itself. If I was using a browser, leave it for a couple of seconds, come back, it refreshes the website (spending data and time). Any way to make it better? A really fast phone but this is bothering me.
Here is a video I recorded to show what I mean.
https://youtu.be/b_wrBgJrS4M
Tried limiting 4 background process as someone suggested me but it didn't change behavior.
The phone is a Leeco Le Max 2, android version MIUI .14
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Or
U may go to the developer settings and make sure u have unchecked this "dont keep activities"
