[Q] Help!!! Can boot after trying to install PA - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

So I had Cyanogenmod 10 on my tf201 with clockwork recovery. In the Dev page there is a new Rom for PA for the 201. I did exactly as it said and factory reset, wiped cache, ect then installed PA and GAAPS. Problem is Im stuck at the splash screen on boot now and I DONT HAVE ANY OTHER ROM LOADED ON THE MEMORY. CMW recover doesnt recoginise micro sd cards and no matter what i try that PA rom wont load. So now I feel I have a very expencise paper weight and I'm dieing of worry here. PLEASE any help in this issue would be much appreciated!

If you are using cwm chances are you are on the ics bootloader. To check look where the nvidia logo is when you turn it on. If it is bottom center it is ics, bottom right is jb.
Now go to the twrp thread and then to their website and get twrp for your bootloader (prob ics) and flash in fastboot. Now you can flash from external sd.

Thanks flumpster! I ended up finding an emergency file transfer that uses fastboot. You're solution would have been simpler but in the end its back up and running with a JB bootloader and rom now :victory:

Never mind, easy find.

Fixed, but newbie question
I reverted back to CM10 by pushing a the ROM in adb.
I was hoping to try things over, but as a newbie I am not sure how (really, when) to install the bootloader necessary for 4.2.
I know baked bean requires the offical firmware from ASUS, which I have, but when do I install it, before or after the ROM?

Flash the ASUS JB rom first. it should update your bootloader and allow you to boot custom JB roms from then on.

Thanks. If I install the ASUS firmware will I will lose root?

If you're HBoot 1.4, you don't necessarily need to do the workaround that 1.5'ers use, but the same method works.
1) Install FlashImage GUI (either buy from market or find the apk file on XDA)
2) Select option to flash recovery image.
3) Locate recovery image of choice. You do NOT need to rename anything.
4) Flash recovery image.
5) Reboot to recovery to confirm image flashed correctly.
Those 5 steps should get you a new recovery. Let me know if you encounter any issues. This new CWM Touch Recovery seems to be working fine so far, I've tested a majority of the functions so far and have had no issues yet.
Is this better than Twrp 2.0 just need someones opinion on it. Are there any other features which makes it must have?

I was unable to mount USB storage so i switched back to twrp 2.0
Sounds good, but I think ill wait a month before using to make sure no one finds any serious problems with it
Also, there should be an easy PG86IMG.ZIP made for this, thats how I have ALWAYS done all firmware and recovery flashes and never had a problem. It was the right way before all this flash image stuff.

One option I hadn't tried this morning, and can also confirm this.
Gives an error "E: unable to open ums lunfile (no such file or directory)"
Does it work any better than twrp 2.0?
Would backups from the previous non touch version still function ?

Haven't experienced any bad flashes on a few test runs yet, but as mentioned earlier in this thread, USB storage mount doesn't work, so any files you need to push you'll need to go through the ADB route until a revised version of this recovery image is created.

Good stuff, man. It's a very handy app, especially for those of us stuck w/ HBOOT 1.5. Great for toggling between kernels and quickly set up new ROMS.

Guys, just to reiterate....
1) Mount USB storage does not work
2) Charging via recovery does not work
If you want to flash a ROM directly through the recovery, you need to rename the ROM zip to "update.zip" w/o the quotes. PITA, but that's the workaround if you do not wish to go through ADB mounting.
i actully went back to twrp 2.0 cause my phone shut off by it self after i flashed cwm touch recovery.. my phone never does that.. so i went back to twrp just to be safe..plus there was kno download bar.???
I rolled back to older version 4 of cwm not a fan of twrp 2.0 tho. Nice features but has some annoying issues lol twrp 2.0

[Q] [Solved] Recovery and roms scrolling (flickering)

Hi !
I have just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wifi only (GT-P7510).
I want to install ICS on it, but I'm stucked on a problem : my screen is scrolling (flickering if you prefer, like an old broken TV) on a recovery and after install some roms.
My current configuration is OK with that :
- Recovery : CWM v5.5.0.4.
- Android : 3.2
- Kernel : 2.6.36.3 [email protected] #1
- Version number : HTJ85B.XXKL2 P7510XXKL2
With this recovery, I tried to flash my tab with the latest Krang version.
Installation OK but when Android starts : my screen is flickering and never stops.
I can see the Android ignition but impossible to use it except to shut down.
When I try to flash with Cyanogen mod for P7510 (plus.google.com/100275307499530023476/posts/1Lm5iULvf3w), my recovery says :
Assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "p4wifi" II getprop("ro.build.product") == "p4wifi"
Then I tried to install another recovery (a friend made it with this recovery) : andrewrecov.
This recovery starts scrolling, hard to read, then too fast to read anything.
I search for a solution on the web, but found nothing.
Just found some guys saying it's a rare problem, but I don't have any solution.
Any ideas ?
Thanks for your help
Just making a guide to fix, Keep an eye on the General forum!
Thanks mate
I tried a lot of things found on the Web but none fixed my problem.
I hope your solution will solve it.
Hi,
So i am not alone to get this problem
I dont have fixed the problem but find a workaround, if you install KANG (and other rom with scolling pb), if you lock screen (with power button) and wake up, scroll don't exist anymore and display is fine.
If you reboot the tab you have to redo lock/unlock.
After you do this the only display problem that subsist is when you change from portrait to landscape, screen goes black for a half of a second before rotating.

I didn't try that, I will but it's not an acceptable solution
I really don't understand why some tablets have this problem and not all.
Maybe the Tablet origin ?
As I see you're french (me too), I bought it on rueducommerce. Same seller or another ?
Just flash another version of CWM that doesn't flicker, there are many versions of 5, doesn't matter which because in the end the ICS installs it's own CWM later.

recovery rolling on p7510 with twrp 2.2.0 flashed
Noob - I've looked around a ton here trying to find some help with escaping recovery mode when the screen is rolling like this and just haven't had any luck at all...
So I flashed CWM 5.5.0.4 and went into recovery mode on my perfectly stock p7510 and got the rolling screen. I was able to see enough of the interface to reboot and was fine again - figured (stupidly now I'm seeing) that twrp 2.2.0 might not have this problem. So I flashed THAT recovery system and I'm still scrolling...however, because it's a touch screen interface now I'm pretty jammed.
What can I do about this? Is there a way to push through a reboot command?
UPDATE: WOW, I managed to peck my way back to Honeycomb. CRAZY. Going back to the "fix the scrolling screen" threads.....
Recovery Screen Scrolling
Hi, I just installed ICS on my GT-P7510 Galaxy Wifi Tablet but if I go into the ClockWorkMod recovery screen it scrolls incessantly (trying to re-root the tablet). This is the ICS Firmware/build P7510XABLPL_P7510UELPL_HOME.tar.md.5 that I installed. The device was rooted but not anymore after flashing from Honeycomb using Odin3_v1.85. I've tried installing recovery.tar.md5.....no luck......I tried installing ClockworkMod_Recovery_v5.5.0.4_P75xx.....no luck screen still scrolls. Can I even install anything via Odin now that the tablet is no longer rooted? Am I able to restore the tablet back to it's stock ROM? Am I able to do it through Kies? The tablet works on ICS as far as I can tell but I sure would like to root it again or have I in a sense "semi-bricked" it? I am a NOOB and would REALLY appreciate any feedback to get me out of this jam. I have read other posts about screens scrolling but nothing about it being the ClockWorkMod screen. Thanks to any and all who reply.
There are solutions for this. The easiest way that I have seen for ICS is to flash pershoot's bootloader variant and CWM recovery.
Go here: http://droidbasement.com/galaxy/roms/cm9/p4wifi/ and download the bootloader and recovery tar.md5 files. Flash them both via download mode with Odin and you should be fine. Come on back and let us know how you made out.

You can easely restore your device with ODIN and P7500XXLQ8_P7500OXALQ8_P7500XXLQ8_HOME.tar.md5 (ICS4.04).. So no problems there..
But the problem with screen flickering remains.. Plz let us know if this solution worked for you..

Which cwm version is that and is it good for stock?
It's the latest release from pershoot for CWM non-touch recovery. Last I checked it was 6.0.1.2 but that was just about a week ago.
I downloaded both tar.md5's and flashed them both - bootloader first, rebooted, rebooted into recovery, flashed new recovery, done. I was on stock LPL at the time. Hope it works out!
EDIT: I've been working on getting a crisp list of steps together for a new FIX post with bugs9477 and will post that at some point this week. It will be specifically for ICS because everyone here now knows how to fix the roll for HC.

I think part of my problem is when I flashed ICS onto my tablet in the instructions I was reading there was nothing about wiping the old ROM off the sd card FIRST then flashing the new ROM onto the formatted sd card.

Glad you got it worked out! FYI the recovery.tar.md5 is the CWM 6.0.1.2. If you flashed it and rebooted into recovery you'd see the version # at the top of the recovery screen.
Further, if you're flashing stock firmware via Odin (not a flashable ROM file, the stock firmware tar.md5) it will automatically wipe and relay the partitions for the entire tablet - /data,/cache,/system (the ROM itself), /sdcard (all of your storage), bootloader, all of it. You start completely clean when you go that route.

I appreciate the acknowledgement but I can't take full credit. I came across it somewhere while searching for a solution myself. It worked for me on stock-based ICS so I thanked the original poster. It should be noted that with that particular recovery, you may not be able to flash a CM9 or CM10 ROM until you've flashed the latest CWM recovery which you can get from www.droidbasement.com
Good luck guys

So how do you know if it's stock firmware vs. a flashable ROM file? I downloaded this: GT-P7510_XAB_P7510UEKMP_P7510XABKMP_P7510UEKMP onto my PC in hopes that it is the original HC firmware I had on my GT-P7510 and was going to flash it back onto my GT-P7510 if the scrolling CWM screen issue couldn't be resolved. How are you able to differentiate on whether you should use ClockWorkMod (via recovery mode) to download ROM onto SDcard then install ROM off SDcard or use Odin to install ROMS?
Thanks once again for your assistance!

Big Problems, please help

Hello. Right now, I am in the process of installing a custom ROM on an HTC Evo 4G LTE. I unlocked the boot loader, put TWRP on it, copied Paranoid Android on it with Gapps, and installed the zip. The phone is still in s-on mode and is stuck at the Paranoid Android screen. I have no idea what to do. I have to get it fixed ASAP. Please, help.
well for whatever reason paranoid android is not loading .. so ..go back into twrp a press reboot>system.. and you phone should reboot back into your previous rom...or you can press restore and choose the rom listed there.. and follow prompts from there.... that will get you back to square one.. you can figure out why the new rom wont load from there... make sense?... hopefully you DID make a backup of your old rom!!!

Well, I never made a backup of the original stock ROM. I tried everything I could, but then realized I was in S-On mode, and HBOOT is 1.19. Therefore, I think there is no way around it. I just did "locked" the boot loader and ran the RUU. That has gotten it back to stock. Worst part is, I convinced my friend to do this because I had rooted my One S, now, he's never going to want to root again. He didn't back anything up to his computer, just his SD card, which was wiped. Damn. Thanks for the reply.
no prob .. well the the upside is .. you were able to get it back .. and you didn't brick the thing
Like om4 said, all you needed to do was flash the boot image. That is one of the known limitations with your hboot version.

With s-on you may flash any Rom with a custom recovery. Just not (kernel, bootimg, radio) so what you can do is
HTC dev unlock,root stock rom
download flash image gui.apk
download the Rom and gapps
Open flash image gui
Flash the paranoid rom from FIGUI
Reboot into recovery and flash again
Now you should have a working boot image and rom.

This is as similar to the issue I am having now as I can find. So here's what up as far as brass tacks.
HTC EVO 4G LTE "Jewel"
TWRP loaded and functional
Rooted, (tampered) had SuperUser
Nothing in the internal SD card (explain momentarily)
No OS. Yeah, no.
S-ON due to 3.17.
Lost my Nandroid
Don't know much else cause if I take it out of recovery I have to suffer through a bootloop, but I will get more info once I get an idea of whats happening.
Down and Dirty:
So I have rooted several devices, My old Evo 4G's, a couple SIII and S4's and I thought I could do this in one morning. So I got it rooted, using WinDroids help, but skipped S-Off as 3.17 was too new for the software in the toolkit. Did some reading, read multiple times that S-ON was cool to just a ROM which is what I wanted, So I DL'd the ROM, loaded to internal memory, loaded up TWRP from recovery, ran it.
Failed. That's ok, I have the nandroid, I suffered a boot loop until I learned how to escape, Recovered, and I tried again with a fresh DL. Same. So I nandroided and was looking everything over. Then I butter fingered everything. I factory reset the phone, dumping my nandroid and my OS out the window. No I have a phone with no OS and my only access to it is through USB mount in TWRP. How can I either
A) get it back to stock ROM or
B) install the AOSP ROM I was going for. Any more information required I will be more than obliged to give.
I appreciate everything I get I promise!

With s-on you may flash any Rom with a custom recovery. Just not (kernel, bootimg, radio) so what you can do is
HTC dev unlock,root stock rom
download flash image gui.apk
download the Rom and gapps
Open flash image gui
Flash the paranoid rom from FIGUI
Reboot into recovery and flash again
Now you should have a working boot image and rom.

This is what I think happened to me, by the way. How would I do a ROM without a Kernel? Just yank the kernel folder out? I doubt it. I used to know but I'll be honest, I have only dabbled recently, it's been a while since I kept up with the science precisely.

[Q] Bricked Prime...Tried everything

I feel like i've read every thread and tried everything.. hope some one can help?
The Problem:
I had a semi working JB rom and i tried to flash a new rom due to lag and stutter from the one that was on it now I cannot boot past the EEE Pad (asus/nvidia) screen - just sits here with the text on the left corner "AndroidRoot 9.4.2.28r01
The Hope:
I can access CWM, fastboot, ADB etc :silly:
The Attempt:
Almost everything i can find, erasing through fastboot, cwm, installing different roms etc. I've tried flashing a new blob from the official asus download through fastboot but i get an error when putting it through....
Any one have ideas on what it might be, is there hope? or is this money down the drain?

I believe you tried to flash a JB rom without the JB boot loader. If you have nvflash enabled then that's you're only recovery option. Other than that it's dead. Asus can fix it for a fee.

He says he can access Cwm fastboot and adb so he is not dead.
I will help you when I am at my pc later.
Edit. Get me this info ready please. Power off prime. Hold down volume down and power. When the icons appear for fastboot etc look at the top left where the writing is and at the end is a long number. Does this number start with a 9 or a 10?
I am not talking about androidroot number but the one in the long line with bootloader in it.

It looks like I have the exact same problem but my number starts with a 10. I would be eternally grateful if someone could help. I have searched for hours and have had not luck ;(
---------- Post added at 02:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:40 PM ----------
How I did this...
I was running CM 10 with the jb bootloader and I figured I'd update before going on a trip.
I decided to try AndroWook but couldn't get it to boot. I couldn't get it to work or figure out why. When I recovered CM, no problem. So I decided to give it one more go and downloaded AndroWook 1.3 and installed as if I was updating the bootloader.
Been in ruins ever since ;(
I can get to fastboot and adb but can't boot into recovery! I tried flashing a new recovery through fastboot. I am either missing something or it is not working.
Thanks for anyone that can point me in a direction.

Just install the regular version of this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34937936&postcount=6210 . put a Jellybean rom either Androwook 1.51 or nrgz latest from the developers thread on a micro sd card. And then use this to flash a new rom. Do not forget to wipe cache, dalvik and factory reset. You can actually wipe anything EXCEPT FOR EXTERNAL SD.

NEED HELP: Accidentally deleted OS in TWRP/Cant install Rom

Hello all,
New to the HTC One and hit the wrong damn box going to quickly and deleted the OS. Device shows "unlocked, tampered". In TWRP I can transfer a rom with my Mac using ADB side load. But when trying to install the rom.zip it fails automatically. Android Revolution is the rom I'm trying to install. Is there a way to just install stock ATT 4.4.2 and start fresh? Edit: Just tried flashing a rom from external sd with no luck either.
Anybody?

Yes, I can get to boot loader. The phone is recognized through ADB and through fast boot. Just have no clue how to get an OS back on the phone, just got the phone and hadn't done a backup since there wasn't anything on it yet. (stupid me)...Can I use the stock backup from this thread?

I've been reading about the RUU mode but how exactly do I go about it? I downloaded a stock backup from Mr. Hofs post based off my CCID, I'm just not sure how to get my phone back up and running:/ Just want to get it back to stock and I'll leave it alone.
Currently there isn't a RUU for stock sense just stock android for the GPE edition . Only way to get a stock Rom is to flash a recovery back up after u do the steps in that Thread .

What about just flashing a custom rom then?
Try to just mount in TWRP (not sideload) and adb push the custom ROM of your choice to the phone storage.
Not sure if this will put you in any better position. But its worth a try.

The is an actual "Mount" button on the TWRP homescreen. But it should already be setup by default (you can check in the "Mount" options) to mount the phone's data partition when you boot into TWRP and have USB connected.
After you've pushed the ROM to the phone's memory, install from TWRP the "usual" way. I think I've seen there this method has worked for people when ADB sideload did not (on my old EVITA). So hopefully this will work for you.
I did the same thing. I downloaded the custom ROM to internal memory .. popped into TWRP .. .. .. formatted all memory (INCLUDING Internal) .. then had 3.23454542234 seconds of wondering where my ROM was. LOL
All I did was copy the ROM to a MicroSD card (from a different PC with Micro to SD adaptor) .. installed the MicroSD card into the phone .. then flashed from the MicroSD card .. no worries. Easy Pasy!
EDIT: I see you tried. I also loaded Android Revolution .. I think you might want to try downloading the ROM again? I can confirm that I used that exact ROM and did the same thing of deleting the OS.

Not sure if the push is working.... ./adb push rom.zip /sdcard/data/media
I hit enter and the terminal just sits there so I'm not sure if I'm doing it correctly.
Put rom on external sd and install unless TWRP dont see external yet. ALways did this on my last few phones.

A lot of ROMs are almost 2 GB (depending on which ROM, of course). So it takes some time to transfer over.
If there is no error message right away, it might be a good sign its being moved over.

I don't show any OS number in bootloader either, and I am also on Android Revolution. Don't know if it was the same when I was on GoldenEye.
