Woke up this morning and the screen on my DNA is possessed! Cannot Swype...certain letters on the stock keyboard do not work or do other letters or symbols...
so I did a factory reset/wipe data, then wipe cahced, then dalvik, then in mounts and sotrage did format /system, /data, /cache for good measure then started over with Viper 1.10
Swype still does not work, though the stock keyboard now does. Also on the home screens, there is like a Sense "forcefield" that doesn;t allow me to move shortcuts in the last row up and shortcuts above the last row I can move anywhere, but I cannot bring them down into the last row.
In apps, when I try to scroll touching that "area' it exhibits very sensitive erractic behavior
I'm thinking at this point total hardware issuetime to use the warranty but does anyone have any other troubleshoots I should do? I'd hate to get a new or refurb withthe OTA and not be able to be S-Off...
Much appreciated in advnace.

And id appreciate some fast feedback because id like to include this in my rom that ill release later today

no 3d setting. put a bunch of new names for the settings like data roaming instead of wireless settings
personal data instead of privacy.
hope that helps
really no new settings?
in settings>display that says 3d homescreen?
I can tell you in a minute, im booting it back up now!
Deleted my settings, i have no settings now!
Forgot to delete cache and dalvike before flash and settings got deleted. Re-wiped then flashed again, and it worked. I turned settings on and home screen was 3d BUT the calibration seemed off it wouldn't return to normal when I stopped moving phone

First try no settings...second try seems as if it worked but is off. I tried taking a screen shot but it doesn't come out good enough to see. Very close though...good work
*update, I tried calibrating and it seems better but not 100%. I shall try some more and see what happens then update post.
**update, ummm I have no settings now. All I did was power down completely and reboot. Now I tap settings and nothing happens. From the pull down bar I hit All Settings and get the below error.
The application Status Bar (process com. android.systemui) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Can't seem to get my settings back :-(
Ive redone this 3 times and still no settings, but im getting an error, no sd-ext when i wipe dalvik

Hey... I noticed this in the update script...
mount("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p23", "/system")
i just so happen to have my SD partitioned with an ext4, alongside with a 1gig swap partition [irrelevant]. idk just saying, might be helpful to have the ext4 right?
so i wiped both caches, flash, and wiped both again... boot up, and i have no settings (click menu>settings, doesn't work)... I checked the app drawer, and also, no settings there. So then I used root explorer to delete Settings.apk from /system/app... and then i added in your copy... Unfortunately, I forgot to enable non-market installs (fresh rom install). So, I'm reflashing the rom, and then you zip....
Works for me...Did you include a setting for the dock in it?
EDIT: I Turned it off because it is annoying when it just moves randomly as i move my phone when i dont want it to lol

I'm really curious why this is working for some yet, I still have no settings anymore.
You still working on this?
Anyone experiencing unresponsive touch screen issue with GingerDX, this issue only occur in bottom area of display, such as "space button" "delete button" on virtual keyboard and all apps. I need to touch it many times to make it work.
GingerDX is my first ROM, hope someone can tell me how to fix it... According developer thread i have do this :
If you get unresponsive touchscreen, please wipe cache partition, dalvik cache, and reboot twice

Sorry my English bad
Kind Regard.
Try factory reset and installing again. It helps you too much
It's not just you - I get the same problem (hard to drag the notification bar back up, bottom row of keys is unresponsive on certain keyboards) - also using GingerDX
I did see the dev acknowledge the notification dragging issue as "a common problem with gingerbread roms" so I'm not sure what's going on.

alll CM7 based ROM's havethis issue because of a bug in CM7 itself i think
I'm running the CM9 beta 0.2.0 by jokersax11 ([Ics] cm9 beta with camera CDMA/GSM/UMTS/HSDPA/WCDMA/roaming 2/22/12) and my capacitive touch buttons at the bottom of the screen*(Menu, Home, Back and Search) are not lighting up at all! I can't figure it out at all and I really need these buttons to light up, due to my recent switch from the LG Optimus S, and before that I had an AT&T HTC Inspire 4g (which have the home and menu buttons reversed). I use my phone alot at night and I desperately need to get this fixed! Is there something in the CM9 settings I'm overlooking? Or is there an app or mod that I could use to get control of them and get them working again? PLEASE HELP! I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE OR ANY INFO ON HOW TO GET THESE BUTTONS TO LIGHT UP AGAIN! This is really frustrating!

EDIT - Well that was fun. If you haven't figured it out, the link above goes to the other thread you started, with the same title, and the same body, in the same forum .... You should not create duplicate threads. For future reference best practice is create 1 thread and wait a minimum of 24 hours between bumps.
With that out of the way my actual advice is as follows, i dont believe the capacitive buttons are an issue with jokers CM build although i dont personally use it. This would indicate the answer lies in a) something you did b) something you didnt do c) something you installed
1. You can eliminate a and b without losing any info by going into your custom recovery and wiping cache and dalvik cache then doing a dirty flash on the rom (dirty flash = don't wipe data/factory). In this case there would be no reason to reflash gapps.
2. If that doesn't work, do a full wipe (data factory/system/dalvik) and reflash the ROM, then gapps. Be slow to in stall your apps and test the capicitive buttons frequently to ensure you haven't done anything to break them
Set the phone's brightness to Automatic.. Fixed..
People are so over dramatic sometimes lol.

Thanks, that pointed me in the right direction. My auto brightness isn't working. I'm gonna do a "dirty flash" and see if that helps. Oh and btw,the second post was an accident and you can't delete your own thread. So, sorry about that.

i just now notices mine dont light up but o well my thumb pretty much know ware to push
Well, it's fixed. Don't know what the heck was going on but reflashed my CM9 & Google apps and voila my automatic brightness switch in settings started working again. No more problems and capacitive buttons work fine. Strange but at least it's fixed

And sorry to anyone that needed a fix to this. I was involved in the tornado that hit Branson, Missouri and was unable to keep phone charged due to the power outage that lasted over a week, and had bigger things to worry about at the time, like getting shelter and food. But everything is ok now and hope this thread helps anyone that has this problem. Check to see if your automtic brightness switch is working under settings (mine wasn't working) So if it isn't working just reboot into recovery, wipe dalvik cache & /cache, and reflash your rom and gapps, then check in your settings to see if your automatic brightness is now working. If so your problem should be fixed and your capcitive buttons should now light up. It worked for me, hopefully it will work for you.

Thanks man i just had to set the screen brightness to automatic and reboot once. It worked like a charm
...yes I STILL use the Lapdock
Anyway, after I remove my phone from the Lapdock it freezes and goes crazy for a few seconds as usual, but this time as well as others it seems to have left the wallpaper in a landscape orientation, even when I turn my phone upright for protrait orientation.
Have a look:
http://i.imgur.com/nbCcBtA.png
http://i.imgur.com/RjZsXsk.png
What is especially wierd is what you see on the second .png when I try to change the wallpaper to see if that does anything, the selector square has turned into a rectangle as if the phone was still on landscape. The icons, widgets and all else do rotate, just not the wallpaper. I am left with no other options as the settings for wallpaper on stock 2.3.6 leaves me only the option to change the backgroind image and it seems that I am the only one on the interwebs that is posting this issue.
The ROM and kernel is stock, I am using ADW Launcher but I am certain that that is not the culprit, I removed it but the problem persisted. I am also using Ubuntop 1.1 something or other but I doubt that is a culprit either.
Any ideas? Thanks so much in advance.

What happens after a battery pull?
Are you able to access recovery with the stock rom? just thinking about a dalvik wipe or a data wipe/factory reset? (maybe some bits of software not acting properly and a reset might help)
I don't have any experience with the Lapdock but maybe it is a software glitch?

The problem persists after a battery pull and re-insertion. Since it wasn't the VERY first thing I did, recovering the img of the current rom didn't work as the problem occurred BEFORE I saved a backup, although the problem DOES go away when do a from-scratch recovery using a fruitcake system/kernel/webtop img.
So would wiping the Dalvik cache not mess up my setup or anything? I may consider doing that as I'm not looking forward to doing a clean wipe every time this problem happens, and it happens VERY easily.
Thanks
Wiping Dalvik won't change any settings or cause any problems and it might help.
I am still thinking that your problem is a software glitch - one workaround might be to fix the wallpaper in the 'horizontal' position by unticking the 'auto-rotate' setting (not sure if this would effect your lapdock experience though )
One last workaround would be to reinstall your Rom without a data wipe (so all your settings/apps are still there) and see if that helps.

Dalvik cache is wiped and the wallpaper orientation option was ticked and un ticked but the problem STILL remains. I suppose my next step is to re-flash the ROM, but I'm hoping that doing so won't wipe and restore webtop to stock (it's on Ubuntop instead).
Here's another kicker! I don't have this problem on LIVE wallpapers, orientation works just fine there, only on static wallpapers am I seeing this issue.
Anyway, I've looked into debugging the display on the native OS to try to a fix together, I'll see how that goes...
How do other apps behave? Also stuck on landscape or not?
I'm thinking it could be a launcher issue after all if that's the only place where this is happening.

Thanks for the feedback,
The behavior of the other apps are good, no issue with them whatsoever.
I have already uninstalled ADW launcher and stayed stock for a few hours and that didn't resolve the issue. I shall do it agin but this time reman in stock for longer.
I got the launcher BECAUSE the stock home screen doesn't rotate and I prefer to mount my phone sideways in my car. What is baffling is that it DOES go to landscape orientation when I plug the phone onto the Lapdock. Weird.
I was wondering if anybody else had this problem but the more I search the more I find that I may be the only one with the isssue, thus I'm thinking it can be due to my personal phone setup rather than a glitch. If I DO find a fix, I'll put it up nonetheless...
I have the exact same issue with Atrix 4G and ADW launcher
I have the exact issue you described and I did the same but ni good results so far. The only difference is that i was using the multimedia dock instead of the laptop dock (which I was thinking to buy). I just got the phone yesterday and the dock today and when testing for the 1st time i got the wallpaper wrongly oriented.. any help?
I installed after that the wallpaper wizardii app to see if it could fix it but no luck..
Thanks a lot.

Buggy wallpaper configuration. Try this, it might help.
- Install GO Launcher EX and set your wallpaper.
- Every time after undock the phone, press menu > wallpaper > press lock and and unlock for few times.
It work for me.
Just to chip in that I had the same (or very similar) problem: Nottachtrix ROM, ADW Launcher, multimedia dock. Swapping out the launcher to GO Launcher EX per AeroMiku's suggestion has worked for me ... for the moment!
Hi. As of two days ago, my phone no longer vibrates when it is set to do so nor do I get the vibration/haptic feedback when pressing the home, back or menu buttons.
I've checked all the settings where I know to look and it appears to be set to on....anything I am missing? Running Viper 1.3.3 (for almost 2 months now)
places I've checked - Settings- Sound. Virbrate mode is set to ON and Vibrate on Touch is checked
I don't see anything in Viper Tweaks that would shut this off...
Going to eventually back everything up and reflash to see if it's just a software corruption before going the replacement route. Have already done the reboot into recovery wipe cache/dalvik cache
Any ideas or suggestions are welcome!
My guess man is try the ruu and see if that fixes it then just go back through the s-off process again and rooting

Think it's a hardware issue...I did a complete wipe and fresh install of viper 1-3-1 then OTA to 1-3-3 and still the same behavior..
Replacement phone en route.
Once the fresh wipe didn't work I just ran my nandroid to get back to normal...I'll run the same nandroid once rooted with the replacement as I now know it isn't software.
Thanks everyone for the replies! Hopefully I'll keep my string of fast binned DNA's in tact!
