Help! I've recently rooted my Samsung Galaxy Ace II GT-i8160. I flashed with Odin and rooted it. Then, I decided to install the new leaked Jelly Bean 4.1.2 ROM. I flashed it and realised that my phone was no longer rooted. I then flashed with Odin (the same exact way as before) but now, my phone doesn't boot. All it does is go to the screen with the words "Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-i8160" and freezes. When I switch it off, it just boots itself again to that same exact screen. I can't go into Recovery mode as it only boots until that screen and freezes. However, I can go into Download mode. What should I do?
Have you try to flash Jelly Bean to your phone via ODIN again?
Nope, I'll try it now
tell me the result.

My internet is really slow, so it will take awhile to redownload the JB ROM
you brick your phone because probably you go back to ginger with no the proper way.
Download and flash jelly bean mb4 leak.
if you don't use bluetooth download and flash this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38542743&postcount=422

If you don't mind helping me out a little more, can you tell me if it is possible to revert my JB 4.1.2 update back to Gingerbread 2.3.6? And can you please explain to me a little more about how to root Jelly Bean Samsung Galaxy Ace II GT-i1860?
If not, thanks anyway! I feel like I owe you greatly! :]

I followed what ddikodroid told me to do and flashed Jelly Bean back onto my phone via Odin. However, this is when I had Jelly Bean flashed before and tried to root my phone(using the Gingerbread method?). It might work for you, and it might not.

1. Follow these steps: http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones/how-to-root-the-samsung-galaxy-ace-2-50010296/
2. Download a Jelly Bean ROM from somewhere(around 500+MB) and flash it onto your rooted Samsung Galaxy Ace II GT-i8160.
3. Your phone should work again with Jelly Bean.

samsung galaxy ace 2 gt-s7560m brick
Hi there, i have kind of same issue, i have an ace II gt s7560m and i rooted it using odin method ones then i decide to install a custom rom (JellyCream2.0Messi10 which i found on one og the threads here) and i did a back up of my previous rom and when iwas done flashing the rom, i reboot it my phone got brick. However what the phone does is it boots up and shows the logo samsung gt s7560m and after that it shut down itself !!!! i have been trying to go into recovery mode (home+volume,up&down+power) and download mode (volume-down,home,power) the phone does exactly the same thing boot loops. it is going to download mode and i have tried almost evry method posted here. i used odin to flash the kernal again but the device is not turning on for that much time so that i can flash. please help !!!
This rom is for gt-i8160 and not for your device. So try downloading stock rom for s7560m and flash it with odin. Remember most stuff here is for gt-i8160 not for s7560m. Yes they both have the same commercial product name Galaxy Ace 2 but they are different devices.
@g0dzilla1
Are you aware that you flashed s7560m with the rom that was build for i8160? Why did you do that?
Those two phones are totally different in terms of hardware. I am afraid that you might have brick for good. Send your phone to local Samsung repair center without descibing what you did.

What was the firmware info of the 4.0.4?
Was it a custom ROM?
How did you upgrade to ICS, via Odin, kies or CWM recovery?

Poor Wifi Signal can be caused by Wrong Kernels. You might need to try a different kernel. A small brief on available kernels..
1. CM10 Kernel - Amazing Battery, Moderate Performance
2. Siyah Kernel - Amazing Performance, Poor Battery
3. Dream Kernel
4. Dorimanx Kernel
Choose a Kernel that suits your need and try to flash it via CWM.

First things first - Upgrade your phone to latest firmware using the official way: OTA or Samsung Kies application.
Next go through the infinite posts about rooting - pros and cons; and decide why you want to root. One wrong step and you may end up losing your phone forever.

Do one thing..If you are not able to find the relevant thread directly in the forum use Google. Just type "how to Root galaxy S2+gingerbread 2.3.3" and you would most probably be directed to some thread in XDA itself.
Besides, dont worry, just follow the instructions word to word and you should be fine. Personal experience.

What is the difference between updating GB to ICS and then rooting and

Can't i just root and then install custom ICS OS??
Like the other guys say, upgrade to ICS and then root - I used this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719

Rooting on ICS is ridiculously easy as compared to GB. Thats the reason people are asking you to upgrade to ICS and then root.

I am in confusion now.
Kernal is a part of ROM right?
If i upgrade to ICS then i will have ICS kernal right?
Can you elaborate point 1?
My mobile current state is having GB...(i can upgrade it to ICS from service centre)
Steps which i think i should be doing
Method 1:
1)Upgrade it to ICS and root the mobile.
Once i get admin rights replace the kernal " siyah"
2)Take backup of current ROM
3)Install custom ROMS
method 2:
1)with current OS GB root the mobile
2)Replace the kernal
3)Backup OS
4)Install custom ROMS
Tell me steps are correct or Provide me the changes and the method which i should go for.
It's simple, root your current firmware by using the siyah GB version. After rooting, install titanium backup and backup every application. Before the titanium backup, install sms backup +, open it and click the backup button. It will now backup all your sms and your call log. You contacts should be synced with google. Now just download the ICS firmware to flash using odin. Flash it. Flash siyah through odin (ICS version). Now install titanium backup and sms backup +. Restore everything. Now you have ICS stock.
Whenever you flash the siyah kernel your phone will be rooted. Be careful not to use siyah GB with ICS and siyah ICS version with GB. They may brick your phone.
We are rooting your gingerbread so that you can backup all your apps using titanium backup which requires root.
That's pretty much it, enjoy your new phone.

First of all thanks for helping this newBee...
1)I m scared of bricking my cell. So i dnt want to take single chance of doing so.
2)I can just upgrade to ICS free of cost from samsung sevice centre.
3)I am not getting a single reason to root the mobile at the cost of ICS..
It would have been the case of installing JB then i would have thought of.
Taking the backup of current GB doesnt make scence ....
What if my cell bricks may i use the backup of GB?
All the advices are welcome.
Thanks in advance..
Watever you do, don't upgrade to ICS v4.0.4. You can hard brick your device. 4.0.3 is fine. Very fine!

Why don't you just update over-the-air? (I should have said this before the long post ) If you just want just ICS without root then go to settings, about phone, software update and update from there. 100% safe and you won't lose anything, all your apps and eveything will remain as it was.
After that IF someday you wish to root the phone for some AWESOME reason. Just flash Siyah Kernel. (ICS Version).
thanks

Just do as I said, but your flash counter(alerts warranty claims that you have flashed custom/leak firmware) will remain at 1 so your warranty may well be voided.
I if you want to circumvent that you need to root, then proceed as I instructed

Hi All
I downloaded and flashed the leaked 4.2.1 jelly bean (odin flashable) rom and flashed it on my S3. I want to downgrade to I9300XXEMB1 4.1.2. How do i do that? I flashed the 4.1.2 rom but when it reboots it just go into a bootloop, rebooting to the samsung logo every time. Then i had to flash it back to 4.2.1 rom. The new rom also dos not have developer options in settings. Please Help i want 4.1.2 back. ps my phone is not rooted.
Thanx

Search.
This has been covered here thousands of times over the past two years. If you have problems using Odin, search for Hopper8's 'Odin won't flash' thread.

Flash Stock Samsung JB/ICS firmware on I9100 for Noobs
samsung galaxy s2
Need some more advice,
As you know my phone is a samsung galaxy s2 gt 19100 and its not loading up to the main screen, but staying on the boot screen. I recently updated to jellybean from ics as well.
Entering recovery mode has not worked as using the combination of buttons doesn't work and i have used odin to reinstall jelly bean and downgade to ics again and that has not worked.
I desperately need my phone to work as it has all my stuff on it, is there anything else that i have not tried?
Thanks in advance.
I was busy trying to flash cm10.2 RC for my i9100 and ended up soft-bricking my phone. Not sure what happened, probably just me doing something stupid. If I recall the correct way to handle this is:
1)Find stock rom+kernel
2) install KIES on pc
3) flashing using ODIN in download mode
The problem is that I have no idea where to get the 4.1.1 stock rom and kernel from for my phone. I'm from Canada and using Virgin/Bell Mobile, so I tried looking up the CSC code and stuff. I stumbled upon http ://samsung-updates. com/device/?id=GT-I9100 (needed 10 posts and didnt want to just make random posts) but I have no idea which rom is the correct one. Would really appreciate some help with this (resources for stock roms+kernel) Could I use philz safe stock as a kernel? Christ I swear I used to know how to do all this.
Thanks in advance.

Ah.... I soft-bricked my phone meaning I cant get past the boot screen. Can't get to recovery mode or boot, only download mode. And my phone is not a glaxay s3 (i9300) its a i9100/i9100m, a galaxy s2 international edition.

I'm not sure what you flashed because the international Galaxy S2 hasn't received any CM10.2 RC builds

So I used the link you gave me to get it to GB stock rom+kernel (since I read intratechs stuff might not work). Then using KIES I got to 4.1.2. AT that point my firmware info changed from PDA:KG2/PHONE:KG2/CSC:KG2 (BMC) to PDA:MA5/PHONE:MA5/CSC:MA5(BMC). No idea what that means. Went to http://forum.xda-developers. com/showthread.php?t=1103399 to grab a rooted kernel with cwm. Then my phone just gets stuck in a boot loop or fails to launch. Tried siyah kernels v2 and v3, they fail (boot loops). Dorimanx just causes my phone to freeze midway between the samsung screen animation and the warning triangle.
Basically, Im stuck right now only being able to boot successfully to stock 4.1.2 un rooted. Any idea where to head from there?

So i would guess you want to get back onto a custom rom like CM? Just flash this version of dorimanx on your phone via odin and it should boot, 8.43 for samsung based roms you must use those that start with 8, e.g. 8.43 or 8.41 etc... Once you flash it you can now boot into CWM recovery and install CM as you always had.
NVm, kinda got it working on SlimBean with a CWM 6.0 kernel. Thanks for all the help from the XDA community.
