[GUIDE] Fixing Your Power Button - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello everyone!
I'm new to this website.
And while I was on this website, I was trying to look for ways to fix my Power Button on my Verizon Galaxy Note 2.
I spent hours and hours pressing the button, plugging into my computer, or simply stressing out without my phone.
For this reason, I am going to give you guys a solution to this problem.
Unfortunately, this website will not let me link a Youtube video.
Go on youtube, and look up "Disassemble Galaxy Note 2"
Press the first link, and you'll be good!
Note: This video is not owned by me. I give all credits to the Youtube user.
This link will show you a step by step way to disassemble your Galaxy Note 2
All you really have to do is push out your button on the outer case. And also just make sure that your actual button makes a "click" sound. If that's all done, your button will be fixed.
Hope this helps a tad.

what was wrong with the power button?
I usually use the home button instead of my power button.

Untouched Tab Stops Working

Hi Guys,
My name is Marko and I am new to this forum. I am a complete noob when it comes to tablets (the only thing I can do is play the games and send mails )
Anyway, I have a 10.1 Galaxy tab model GT-P7510MA.
I have never done anything out of the ordinary with this tab and it just quit on me... Just a black screen and nothing else (wont start up).
I did everything I can think of that was mentioned on this forum: hold the power button+volume up, power button+volume down, power button+screen for 30 secs.
Hopefully you guys have a solution that I haven't read about.
I would be very grateful if some of you guys can make time to help me with this.

Did you try plugging it in to the charger to see if the battery icon will show up?

[Q] Disable power button long press = power off ?

Hi,
When doing a long-press on the power button of my Galaxy SII, after a few seconds, it powers off. This happens whether it is locked or not, and without asking for confirmation on the screen.
I'm using a Sena leather case, which presses on the power button. Each time I put it in the case, it powers off, then it restarts, and stays on "enter SIM pin code" screen. I may have discovered a new way to switch to Airplane mode but I'd like to avoid that.
Moreover, there is a distinction between :
- long press (2 seconds) : brings the power menu (Airplane / Reboot / Switch OFF)
- very long press (approx. 8 seconds) : switches the phone OFF
Also, these two keys are active even when the phone is locked.
Here's what I would like to do : disable both the 2 seconds press and the 8-seconds press when the phone is locked
I found some threads about key remapping applications or direct edit of keymap files, but none of them were successful.
Could someone point me out an application / a way to achieve that ? Does someone know if it's ever possible ?
(For now, the only workaround I found is a hardware one : disassemble the phone and sand the power button to reduce its height, so that it stays inside the casing)
Thank you in advance. Kind regards
My old HTC Hero used to do that too, which leads me to believe it is something hard-coded into Android itself. I'd suggest there is nothing much you can do, but wait and see if a dev replies or something.

I don't know if it's possible but if it is it has to be something in the kernel.
The 8 second power off function works the same way as the on on your PC and is used if your phone stops responding so I don't see a way to disable it with an app because it's ment to turn the phone off even if an app freezes your whole phone.
Hi,
If the 8-seconds press is hard-coded, I think precautions should have been taken to avoid unwanted power off each time you put the phone into a leather pouch !
On iPhone f/ex, you have to press both power and home button during several seconds to trigger hard reboot, which makes unwanted action hard to happen unexpectedly.
It's always frustrating to encounter such a basic problems on a $600 phone using the latest state-of-the-art technology, which powers off each time you put it into your pocket ;-)
I hoped some developer has found a way to workaround this. I googled a lot, but I didn't find anything.
So, if the power button features are hard-coded, the only solution may be to hard-remove the entire power button
Problem solved.
I disassembled the phone, I removed the power button, I carefully grinded it to reduce its height, and I put it back into the phone.
(For those who may already owned an iThing, disassembling a Galaxy SII is very easy, it's a matter of seconds with a good old mini-screwdriver; proceed carefully when grinding, because if you reduce the height too much, the buttom may break)
Now my power button height is just below the casing. It's still possible to press on it with a finger, but it does not press by itself when putting the phone into my leather pouch.
Thank you for explaining it I had an issue with my S II and it went to service to solve it, they totally changed the board and was shocked when I found the short press on power button doesn't show the power menu I used to have and it switched off immediately!
I've got to return it to service and your post made me thinking it's a simple issue! It won't take time

Can't get into download mode via button combination

My issue is as stated as above. I presume my phone has this feature disabled, making this phone near useless for me.
Tried having phone completely off and holding down volume down + home + power like in the videos, to no avail.
I've come from a Galaxy 3 which automatically started up download mode during the boot sequence.
Is there a way to root my phone without Odin or enter download mode with another method? Can't use "reboot download" in terminal as it's not rooted.
I haven't found any topics quite like my issue here. My phone is a international Galaxy III with label being exactly I9300. Any help is appreciated.
You could buy usb jig that will sort it iv never heard of this issue ever

Interesting, atleast there's something to fall back on if there are no other solutions.
Postage to New Zealand would be horrendous.
Please confirm it doesn't work in the following order.
- Make sure you have no case on the phone.
- Power off the phone
- Unplug it from the charger
- Remove the battery for 30 seconds
- Press and hold Volume-Down and center hardware button.
Make sure both buttons are proplery pressed, and the center button is pressed in the middle.
- Press the power button, and release it when the logo appears. Keep the other 2 buttons pressed
- Wait for it to boot
If it doesn't work, try repeating 2 times starting at the top.
If it still doesn't work something is faulty. Check if all the buttons work as expected.
Thank you very much d4fseeker, the battery out was the crucial thing I was doing wrong.
It shouldn't be necessary (and usually isn't) but I've seen on multiple occasions that Samsung phones sometimes don't react to the Download mode or Recovery mode when normally powered down.

Venue 7840 turns itself off while having half the battery percentage

Hi, I couldn't find anything about this issue here, on Dell forum there was discussion about it 2 years ago but it wasn't solved, but it seems that a lot of people face this issue and I'm honestly surprised no one talked about it here.
So I just bought this tablet, it's used but whatever, at 56% of the battery it shutdowns and there is no way to power it back on without connecting to the charger. Can't even access bootloader menu, it's just dead.
Has someone faced this issue and has any idea how to prevent this from happening? It renders the tablet unusable and I don't really want to pay the service for changing the battery if it's gonna do the same thing
Thanks
I got the same problem but no solution. The only thing I recognized, is that the tablet things it got 11.000 mAh instead of 5900 mAh. But why?

Try the following and see if this resolves the problem. This is not a master reset so your information will not be deleted.
1. If your device is on, turn it off.
2. Press & hold the Volume down button. While holding Volume down, press & hold the Power button until the device turns on. You'll see the word "Start" with an arrow around it .
3. Press the Volume down button until you highlight "Recovery mode."
4. Press the Power button to start recovery mode. You'll see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark.
5. Press & hold the Power button. While holding Power, press the Volume up button once. Then release Power.
6. Press the Volume down button until you highlight "Wipe cache partition," and then press the Power button to select it.

Worked with my venue 7840.

Power button / Home suddenly fails to do screen capture / screenshot

I'm not having a lot of luck finding solutions for this Samsung Galaxy Go5 phone. My latest problem is that taking screenshots by holding the Power button down and tapping Home doesn't work anymore. It took forever to figure it out when I got the phone, and I made a point of writing the process to a text file. It took precision timing. But no matter how many combinations of timing I try now, I can't get any to work.
The other button combination of holding Power and both Volume buttons down simultaneously and tapping Home never worked. It just changes the volume level.
And I see no screenshot options in Android 6.0.1 anywhere.
Any suggestions for getting this to work folks?
