Dock won't work!!! Help! And I can't get unlocked... - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I bought a brand new TF700T dock at best buy yesterday, everyone says that its compatible with the prime... Well I put my prime on it and it makes the connection noise, the battery works, I get the stupid "use the keyboard to type words" thing, then when I try to use the track pad or keyboard it doesn't work.
Also I can't unlock. I know this is a common issue but I haven't seen any recent threads. Also I bought it on eBay so I'm not sure of its RMA status, I have it rooted and I used the ratchet tool to change the s/n to match the sticker.
What else can I do? The dock is my main concern at the moment though.
Help
Me
Please!!!!!
Nexus 4. Paranoid edition.

try powering off and then back on with it on the dock might work?

It turns out the transformer is broken. I'm returning it, but now I have a spare TF201 dock :/

Where can I buy a charge cable in the uk?

I really need a spare charge cable for the transformer but I can't find one for sale anywhere. I even tried Asus themselves who pointed me to their uk web store which lists nothing for the transformer at all.
It's kinda silly that there's no way to buy spares for this thing.
I want one a back up cable as well.
If you go the ASUS site it lists it as backordered and you can enter your email to be notified when it becomes available.
As far as I know, there are no way to get one regardless where in the planet you are located.
At this point, be very careful with your cable!

Dock not functioning

When I connect my prime to the dock it recognises it, the dock battery symbol appears and a message appears under the Asus quick settings pane saying that I can type with the keyboard. But I can't. Nothing happens when I try to type, and in fact I can't type at all because the on-screen keyboard obviously doesn't appear. The touchpad does nothing too.
I haven't been prompted to install anything for the dock, is that normal? If so, any ideas?
Cheers.

Bump.
I've contacted Asus support but heard nothing back yet.
Anyone having this issue? Anyone got any suggestions?
has this always happened out of the box?
do the hot keys work (ex. back, etc.)?
Yep has happened since I got it. Sometimes it doesn't recognise that I've connected the dock.
Did yours work immediately? Was there any installation or anything?

I received my dock from best buy the week of release, before i even got my tablet.
I plugged it into the prime and let it download the updates OTA before using it.
Did you receive the updates OTA for the keyboard? Since you have been having problems from the start, i would begin to suspect your dock is defective. I would try to find a way to try another dock

[Q] New Dock issue. TFP wont identify dock unless dock is connected to a power supply

Hi Folks,
Received a new gold prime today,
I connected the tablet to the dock and charged for a full eight hours (was definitely keeping this one). Updated to ICS and the camera update and tehn did a factory reset to ensure nice vanilla install.
Been loading a few apps, and setting up email etc etc whilst the batteries were charging and all seemed hunky dory. I then took the prime and teh dock into another room and when I put teh prime back into the dock it did not recognise the dock (did not notice until typing did not appear on screen) Oh i thought thats odd what is happening here as It had been connecting earlier. After a bit of troubleshooting it appears that :
If the dock is not connected to the power supply there is no connection between the tablet and teh dock.
If the dock is connected to the power supply and I connect the tablet, it is recognised immediately.
If I connect the dock when the dock is not powered it does not recognise the tablet, however the second I connect the dock to the power supply the tablet immediately connects with the dock!!
One further observation is that when charging it feels as if the dock is vibrating ever so slightly, but as far as I am aware the only moving parts are the keys on the keyboard and there is not a transformer in the dock as the mains (wall) plug carries out this function !!
Any thoughts or suggestions?
My initial thought is to be seeking a replacement item straight away (bit of a bugg** as waiting on a refund from amazon for a grey prime that I returned today)
Please do not bother with sarky comments about asus as there are enough threads like that, I am really seeking to find out if anybody else has seen a similar issue.
I've not heard of anybody else with this particular problem.
As much as I hate to say it, looks like you might need to either RMA (or return) it.

Mine is similar but slightly worse !
My dock connects mebe 1 in 10 times and works ok ... i have tried connecting whilst the power cable is in etc about 500 times now and its random when it decides itll work or not.
I think its a battery fault, but i've already requested RMA and itll be picked up tomorrow.
Bad thing is that its already sold out now, so i'll end up waiting forever for another one
My gyroscope is also FUBAR ... screen rotation, glowball, riptide all do nothing (and yes i have checked screen autorotate toggle ... a million times )

Im on the same boat..C1 batch with 9.4.2.11 firmware...no root
Bad dock.
I too have very similar issues. It arrived yesterday, I got straight back on the phone after reading similar problems on here and it got collected by courier this morning. I bought mine from eBuyer UK.
I also spoke to Asus technical support, who said I could quite happily send just the dock back to them for repair, but denied to acknowledge that it is a known fault with the devices.
To save time and possible problems, I just sent the whole thing back to eBuyer for a full refund. Plan to get my next one from a store so I can exchange it same day if I get another faulty one. Should the next one be faulty, I won't be purchasing another.
Best of luck to those with the issue, it's soul destroying sending back the device you've anticipated for long, especially when the main tablet seems to work fine.

Hi Kaiser,
I had read the thread you mentioned, but at teh time I posted this Q my problem seemed to be different as teh dock would only not work when it was on battery power....It was absolutely fine when connected to the mains......however as time has progressed the dock has become even more temperamental and is now failing some of the time when it is connected to the mains.
Asus support suggested that I return to shop ( I had already submitted an RMA) and given some of teh problems that folks in countries outwith the EU are having I am suddenly feeling glad of the EU as AFAIR this legislation was EU inspired .
OT Mind you I am not very happy with teh EU commissioners signing up for the copyright treaty and hope the Elected EU parliament throws it out!! LOL

[Q] Bluetooth Mouse

Owners, help me please. I want to buy a BT Mouse. Some mice have extra (arrow) keys on the left side. Do they work for TFP? What functions do they have?
Thx 4 Ur answers
I have one of these bt mice with extra buttons on the left side working with my Prime. The extra buttons work as forward and back when browsing and when not browsing the back button works as a return button (bent arrow). I bought it via eBay from Hong Kong for very little money. It has full functionality and is quite small but feels a little plasticky.
Yeah, the arrow buttons are supported on my mouse too. IMO the most helpful addition is the scroll wheel, so make sure your mouse has that.
I bought my mouse at my local staples, so I'm guessing it's a pretty common mouse. I think it cost twenty bucks. It's a logitech M510, I would recommend one, I've had it nearly a year and haven't had to replace the batteries yet. If I were you, though, I'd just buy whichever BT mouse is the most comfortable to you, and keep the receipt - if it doesn't work on your prime, return it and try something else.

Bluetooth pairing can ask for a confirmation code. Since your mouse doesn't have a display or a number pad, we can safely assume the code is not user-configurable. The best advice I can provide is to check your mouse's manual. However, many manufacturers just use "0000" or "1234" as the code. Try those.

I would google the model name followed by "default bluetooth PIN" or something to that effect. If that doesn't work just google the brand followed by default pairing pen.
I was in a similar situation a while back on a computer and I knew the PIN but kept getting that error, turned out that the batteries were low and when I swapped them the PIN worked instantly. Doubt as yours is brand new that's the problem though but passing it on just in case.

[Q] something strange with the dock! help please

Hello everyone,
Saturday i bought a Asus transformer Prime TF21 (32go).
Same day i have noticed an issue with the docking station.
I don't know why but some times the docking station is not detected by the tablet.
I have to plug the power and then the docking station is detected by the tablet, then i can remove the power and use the keyboard. it work until i release the tablet.
some time keyboard is detected.
Docking station and tablet are fully charged, i'm in ICS 4.0.3
In a first time i have unchecked the function that disable the keyboard when the tabet is sleeping, i was thinking that worked but today the bug append again
do you have any idea?
thank you for your help
Morlocko
You may have a bad connector. If you plug the power first does that always work? If so then maybe software related. The only real way to check for hardware issue is to get another dock or another tablet. It should always recognize when its docked and theres not a way to disable that.

No clue, I've never had this happen or seen mention of it elsewhere. Aside from a lot of people whose docks would only register some of their input, but this sounds different. Something must be a little screwy with your dock or your Prime's charge port.
when i plug the power, the keyboard is directly recognised. then i can take off the power cable and use it all the time. i can even power off then power on the tablet it will always work but if i unplug again the tablet from the dock then i have to plug power on the dock if i want to use it again. The dock is fully charged so i think it's a not a power issue

The keyboard also properly charges the Prime at 70% then? I just don't know what the issue could be. A mis-aligned pin would result in the same thing happening even after plugging the power in wouldn't it?
yes the keyboard charge the prime. i can start the prime with the dock powered or i can put the power after the start it change nothing, until keyboard has some power for a second then he is recognized by the prime.
what i don't understand is until prime is unpluged i can power it off then on without power on the dock
but if i unplug the prime then need power
very strange
i want to be sure it's a defective one because if i go to shop and the prime as nothing they will ask money for support

Again, I don't see how it's not some physical defect somewhere. I haven't seen anything like this, I'd try to swap it out or something. I don't understand that last sentence so well, but see if you can't try another dock in-store.
i will say that if i go to the shop and say the dock is not working, they will test it but if they says dock is working they ask money (around 75$) if dock is really not working then there is nothing to pay.
can we plug/remove the prime on the dock when she's powered on?
or do we have to power off first and then plug-in the prime?
thank you

Oh yeah, you can! Totally, I never turn my Prime off.
I don't know about this shop though, what's the name? Where did you actually buy the dock, and when? I'd try actually taking to where you bought it first, but I don't know all your situation. Does seem risky if you for some reason have to pay, but I don't understand why you would; that being said though, since you yourself know there's a bit of a work-a-round they could easily realize the same work-a-round and still try and charge you. But where I'm at, no such situation would exist.
1 thing is for certain, your device is definitely not working properly or optimally.
