[Q] where does BMM slot-2 store its data? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi all! I got my Razr Maxx in Singapore... just as Motorola was announcing it's pull-out from my region :crying:
Anywayz, I installed BMM and I quite like it, but I have a question:
I have my daily driver in slot-1, and I just installed a CM10-based rom on slot-2 (the special one that apparently uses unused partition space in Motorolas.
I was thinking of testing my slot-2 ROM further and installing apps, etc, so my question is, where are all these apps installed? Will they eat up usable space from my Rom Slot-1 system?
If 1 day I decide to packup my slot-2 system, how do I delete the slot-2 rom and all the associated data, apps etc?
If there's a BMM thread you guys could point me to would be much appreciated.
Cheers!

Slot-2 uses webtop partition which is unused of size 1.8GB and no it wont eat up any space from slot-1 as this is different partition....If u want to format then just goto format options in recovery of system-2 and format webtop partion...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2149286 link to BMM support page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720351 link to BMM 02.7 which has answers to ur question

BMM 0.3.4, which is the only supported version at the moment (the current version is available in the Play Market), uses completely different approach, so you need to clarify which one you installed.

I'm using BMM 0.3.4
Got it while installing the Vodafone 4.1.2 ROM... now exploring other 4.2.1 or 4.2.2 ROMs using slot-2
Also, another query, I don't have an SD card in my phone, and my internal SD card isn't mounted when I boot to slot-2 on cm10.1 based ROMs! How do I manually mount it.. tried a few suggestions in various forums, but still doesn't work (camera app exits and says no SD card

[Q] Can this be made? Ext / apps /rom related

Sup XDA Comunity!
I hace one question. Isnt a way that makes EVERYTHING install by default on External SD(The MicroSD card that you have in the Slot, not the internal storage of 10 gb) ???
Some script or dunno? NOT an apk/aplication, I remember I do that on my Motorola Milestone. I install the rom (.zip file on recovery) then i flash an .zip script that every app installs on the ext partition of the SD
Yea because, its so ****ing anoying install every app that you have, even i had all the apk, its annoyng install one by one, because are like 50 or more apps, nor incluiding games
so that was so ´perfect, in my milestone, i just sayd Nah fck this rom, cwm and bang flash another rom and all my apps where in the ext partition, and they were installed, loaded and ready to launch already
If someone had an idea about this on the i9100, tell me please!
Thax, Cya!
Hi,
all i know is Titanium Backup - but some Roms arent supported by TB Backups , dunno why
give it a try ;-)
greetz
You want to install apps on your ext SD?
Try GL to SD v 1.9.4 ( http://market.android.com/search?q= )
It moves the data from a appto your sd card. The additional 1gb that you have to download after you installed fifa, gta or mc3.
I dont know if it can move the apk, but apk's arent that big.
For me this was the reason to root!
Hope i helped you!

Apps2SD and its variants have been falling out of favour with the rise of increasingly improved specs. Like leechseed said Titanium backup or a similar app is your best bet. I've got around 40 apps installed including hefty games and backing up/restoring takes no more than 5 minutes respectively.

I See, but that implies having the doble space ocupied for the same apps, The Backup and the instaled backup after restore...
Like i says, on my old milestone i simply had everything(except rom apps) instaled on the ext partition then android it loads every apps from the begining! And every new rom flashing i just had to flash an recovery script that makes everything auto install by default on the ext partition. No user interface no dialogs, pop ups, configs, backups/restore.
Just flash script that makes everything default install on ext partition, after flashing main rom/gapps and thats it
If someone knows something about similar stuff on the i9100 Please Share it, Thx!

the old milestone way is not possible with I9100 since memory management is quite different. so either u can use backup apps like TB or u can live with ur milestone forever

Install over stock ROM? (Or delete it?)

I'm using SS 3.65 on my Droid Razr (XT912). I'm currently running SlimKat and, as backup, CM 10.1 on my two 'extra' slots.
I NEVER use the stock ROM anymore - I think in the last six months I've rebooting into it just one time. So I am wondering:
Can I just delete the stock ROM 'slot'? (and in doing so free up that memory for other use)
Or can I erase and put another ROM in that slot?
Finally, if I EVER needed stock again, is there a 'stock' ROM out there that I could flash back into that 'slot'?
I'd like to be able to use that memory space that the useless stock ROM takes up. Just don't know if this is safe to do... Or how to do it exactly.
Thanks.
-Tom
Runnin' SS 3.65, CM11 12/18, JBX 12/09, WIFIAP.zip, on "stock" slot. Stock slot is required and considered "non-recoverable" boot partition. Slots created by custom recoveries are "virtual", using system storage space to create and reduce internal storage space. There are various "stock" and "modded" stock roms available, as well as, utilities to root, reroot, and flash "stock" rom. You may flash on "stock", you can not delete or recover space, be sure "rom-of-choice" is working smooth, make back-ups, (i.e. nandroid/TB), flash to stock!! If "rom-of-choice" is working smooth on "stock" slot, you may "delete" virtual slots to "recover" internal storage space!!

Sorry to knock the dust off an old post, but for the SS flash on the stock slot, did you just wipe cache, data, and android secure before you flashed? Or did you do something more extensive? Thanks.

[Q] SafeStrap Restore Error?

So, I am currently using SlimKat on ROM slot 1 on SafeStrap, and ran out of space due to the fact that Stock is taking a lot of space (User Data, No OS). I recently tried to transfer my SlimKat to Stock slot, and received a "Failed" Message.

The stock slot actually has less space for the system partition (where your ROM and GApps are installed) than the default size that Safestrap uses when it creates a ROM slot. Post #14 in this thread explain how the space in the stock slot is used and where it goes..
Wiping and replacing stock ROM?

[Q] Remove safestrap partition

Hi,
I had installed CM11 on my droid Razr using the Safestrap utility.
I created a rom slot activated it and then installed CM11 over it.. but now i am planning to sell my droid Razr....
So i wanted to remove everything and make it stock like... and so i deleted the safestrap application and was about to unroot my phone when i saw that my internal storage is still showing only 8GB as its size...
I am wondering where did the other 3GB (the partition that i created using safestrap) vanish ??
Can someone help me get all my empty space back by helping me deleted the partition...
Thanks
Only 8gb is usable always.

The partition exists as a file on the internal storage. I can't remember the name off hand but it should be obvious due to its size and name. Just delete the file to reclaim the space.

[Q] how to partition sd card? what ROM to use after that?

Hello together,
i have a problem with a desire x and i hope you guys can help me.
i have used the search but the posts i find are from last year so i'm not sure if this info are still up to date.
So i want to partition the sd card so i can install more apps on the phone.
Is there any better (easier or more secure) way than with 4EXT Recovery Updater?
Does the DX support the 4EXT or do i need to do a 3EXT?
Can i use all ROM's after portitioning the sd card? Do they all support installing apps on the sd card after partitioning it?
This are my questions, i hope you can help me a bit on that.
Thanks
You can also create partition on your sd card using AParted app from play store here : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sylkat.AParted&hl=en
i have used it and it works as advertised
regarding support it depends on kernel and rom but EXT3 and EXT4 both are supported on DX as far as i have used them
not sure about all roms but i guess yes all roms might support partitions but you also need a compatible kernel.. i use nexus kernel v3 on EXT4 partition and it works well for me
dont know about direct install on sd card but i use Link2sd app which creates a 'link' and apps are indirecly as a whole moved to sd card if i am not wrong
Thank you i will try this app.
About the link2sd... i thought if i partition the card, the phone will automatically install new apps on this partition.
but it's not a big deal to have an app to do that.
I hope everything will work fine
Thanks again for your help.
i have one more question
Do i need to be rooted to install the apps you suggested and use them? or can i do this without root?
that would be such easier if i don't have to root the phone first and install any other ROM.

it doesnt make sense to root your phone when you`re planning to install a different rom anyway.
the rom gets rooted, not the phone. and most of the custom roms available here a already pre-rooted.
and yes, at least link2sd needs root to work properly, dont know about the other app.
I thought without root we can't install any other ROM?
or is this S-OFF thing not something like root?
but anyway, if you say the link2sd needs root then i have to install such a rooted ROM.
