Anyone uses this app yet. It was recommend by Clemsyn on XDA as a better alternative to setcpu. I download the free version in the market, but the UI is a bit confusing. Seems like a little better optimization available.

I saw his recommendation and downloaded the free version. I its a little overwhelming as i'm still noobish, but it seems to have a larger breadth of options than set cpu. As far as its relative reliability, i'm not sure. There is no "apply" button for uv steps tho, so an unintentional finger slip can cause your phone to freeze! just try it out, see if you like it I guess

any way to disable the memory management?
Im gonna mess around with it tonight and see if I like it. It seems like it will take a little getting use to though lol.

I have been using this ever since it came out it replaces a lot of apps out there and the CPU tuner is compatible with dual core phones and utilizes them completely. It has an app manager, auto starts, frequency controls, sd booster and many more uses. I for one think it is one of the best apps I have in my root arsenal .

Yeah I couldn't be more impressed now that I've messed around with it, but its gonna take sometime for me to fully utilize this seeing im kinda new to a lot of these features.

I was using this for a little and noticed something weird im running the v6 supercharger scripts and in my memory settings the last mem setting would change from 275mb to 256mb. I tried everything so that it wouldnt mess with my supercharger scripts but no go. I unistalled it and everything has been back to normal. Anyone else notice this?

I believe this is the only option for memory, but could also be very wrong! :-0

I bought the Pro version and am liking it better than SetCPU now that I have got used to it and have everything set up. I would like to see live update on the widget when the screen is on though. Lowest setting is 10 seconds.
Which do you prefer and why?

system tuner pro...more options and easier interactive menu
I preferred SetCPU back when I had my evo, it just always seemed to work without any problems. When I got the 3d, SetCPU has lots of bugs with this phone, always force closing and causing havoc.

SetCPU. System tuner doesnt support dual core without paying for it.

Hey everyone,
I have a unlocked O2 phone it seems, on Monday I tried rom'ing it to Jelly bean.. I found a decent rom from the Internet and went ahead with the firmware update. The firmware turned out to be the most basic of basic jelly bean builds... I couldn't even sign in with my Google account...? So I wanted to restore it.
I found another rom and rooted it first etc but after this one installed it kept looking the Samsung start up logo.. Looked up the symptoms and it seems a mild form of bricked. So I went into recover mode and did a data wipe and restore.
When it restored it booted up and now I had jelly beans with all my old settings and it even started to download my apps etc. Great I thought just what I wanted but I have no idea how it's done this.
Anyways... Been playing on it for about an hour now and it seems dead slow. I've cleared the cache and cleared all recent apps and I'm running at 86% ram capacity it seems. Is this normal when no apps are open? Opening my contacts seems to take a good second or two to open. It never did this on ics.
Any ideas anyone? I've attached a screen shot for illustration.
Thank you in advance.

That's what happens when we don't do FULL wipe. Search megawipe and use before flashing roms.

No.
Do not use megawipe, superwipe or bullish*t-stupidwipe.
They are not necessary, juts wipe cache, dalvik and system before flashing a ROM.
That is all.
@OP
Get rid of that damn monitoring app, don't use task killers or any other pointless apps.

Thanks for the tips guys. Do I have to wipe and restore again or can I just go into the recovery mode and clear the cache?

I would back up everything and wipe and restore again.

Wouldn't that restore the pre-wipe state and do nothing at all?
Back up just using the feature in the recovery mode or use something like titanium back up?

Presumption has to be that this decent rom found on the internet is not working .
Flash a current JB from XDA .

I've restored it back to standard firmware on jelly bean but it's still saying I'm using 687 / 833 ram. Is this normal? What do others on here have for there ram availability?

My phone shows 684/833MB RAM but it is very smooth. I let Android do the memory management in my phone. Don't bother myself with shutting down any apps or getting more 'Juice' out of my phone.
Running LJ4 version.
What Rom are you using (version)?

YEs, it is normal.
The motto with Android is that "unused RAM is wasted RAM"
The way Android manages RAM has nothing to do with how we are used to see RAM with PCs, since PCs don't cache apps that are not running.
In Android, the apps are cached so they are easier to access the next time you need them. This is specially useful for apps like Contacts, Dialer, etc. Remember that everything in Android is an application.
My phone yesterday had only 80Mb free and yet it was quite snappy, very responsive.
So, in short forget about RAM in Android devices. We gotta get rid of the old paradigm of how RAM works in a tradicional PC.
I want something that feels a bit quicker, can anyone recommend a nice rom that's like stock but lighter? My current model shown below...

I have the same symptoms with stock JB. I updated my G3 via Kies. Any ideas how to speed it up without wiping everything?
You can try Foxhound Rom Essentials Version which has a lot of things removed that aren't needed (Like S Voice, Samsung Apps, Bloatware etc). There's also Hyper Light rom (I think). Have a look in the rom section and look for roms that mention the word light.
I've got a awesome rom installed now... No Samsung crap.
Thanks for all the help peeps.

well, using tasker factory, i think, i could make an app with trim and cache cleaner scripts and doing all with only touching one buttom, nothing manual, an app that could change and clean some things. do you think that it is a great idea, i think that cache cleaner apps or tasker arent well, i want an optimized app that clean all it could clean and make your device faster, this will be the extension of my tweaks too all devices
Edit:
had problems maing the app, and got a bit bricked, but now i m ok, i need to test it more so i can know it wont brick any device

Persano's tweaks at the push of a button? I think many folks would like that.

this will be for all people, not a tweak pack, the best cleaner, no more 3 apps and more than 60 m of ram, this could use less and would work for nearly all device, the first full all in one tool. not a tasker, is for example a bit of lag fix + a bit of cacle cleaner + other things, for example

I see in Developer options you can choose which one to use. Which runtime mode is better for our device? I know ART is the future but want to know your guys/gals opinions. I have not tried ART but I'm intrigued.

Art no question....can see the difference and battery life is phenomenal.

I guess the only drawback as of now is if an app is not optimized or are really old to run on ART you'll get some ANR's or app crashes. Have you noticed much of that?
Optimizing apps now!!!! :good:

Art is good, but I found it annoying that it was "optimizing apps" everytime the phone was rebooted.
