AW: [Q] Odin .pit
Just flash it without .pit.
pit is for re-partition.

Ok.... When do we have to use .pit file?

Honestly, there has not been a serious use of pit files in past
But they are necessary if you mess up with partitions such as EFS, boot or recovery
Usually due to lack of know about mount points of partitions

When to use pit file in Odin?

Hi
I searched across the forum but I didn't find clear answer about my question...
when I should use the pit file and when I shouldn't If I use Odin to flash stock rom ?
Or it depends on if my tab is P7500 or P7510?
Or its optional?
Or or or?
So can one please clarify that for me please...
Thank u in advanced...

AFAIK it is optional. But many people say it is good to use pit file while flashing with ODIN.
Also the pit file is same for both 7500 and 7510.
Thank u ansonantonym for ur answer...
Any one else also have some info about my question?

I think the pit file tells odin how to repartition the device. Does anybody know where I can download the pit file? I don't see it on samfirmware
This is the pit file

[Q] Re-Stock Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7500 [SOLVED]

Hello,
Got the flashguide from samfirmware.com for the GT-P7500.
It mentions PIT, PDA and CSC files and all I found from samfirmware.com was the file corresponding to my stock firmware:
P7500OXAKG7_P7500XXKG7_P7500XXKG7.zip which has inside a tar (P7500OXAKG7_P7500XXKG7_P7500XXKG7_HOME.tar) which has inside::
recovery.img
system.img
boot.img
bootloader.bin
cache.img
hidden.img
modem.bin
and I also got from samfirmware a PIT file:
P7500_P7510_android_fastboot_emmc_full_p4_16G_32G.pit
--
So, briefly, I hav the PIT, and a zip with a .tar file inside with a lot of image files.
Since flashguide mentions, PIT, PDA and CSC.. well, I just get the PIT part right but what about the rest?
Thanks

I answer myself and I leave it here in case anyone new is seeking the same answer.
You can follow the nice guide from overcome in here: http://www.teamovercome.net/p7500/?page_id=5
In there it specifies you use pit file I got and the .tar file in PDA button to reflash to stock the complete tablet with odin
It worked fine for me with no problems at all.
Cheers!

go into recovery and mount usb storage and put this to your phone and flash though recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617219
You're not supposed to unpack .zip files for Cwm. Leave as it is (download again and leave it as zip) and flash with Recovery.

OH MY GOD! Why you don't understand me? I have a boot.img Kernel from a ROM! and i want to flash it to a other rom? How can i flash boot.img?
dd if=boot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5
terminal emulator?
heimdall flash --kernel boot.img
Through ADB install the kernel. Alternatively, to flash the "boot.img" and you can use the program FASTBOOTGUI-beta2 download here ; http://www.mediafire.com/?wq5yxg58mq79kij , is much more practical and fast, without using the Windows command prompt with ADB ...

Either the ROM was corrupted when you downloaded it, meaning you need to re-download it, or the filename is wrong.
Normal ODIN expects ".tar.md5" files. That's a tar file that has been processed using md5sum to create a hash of the original tar, then the md5sum is tacked on to the end. If you just rename a ROM's .tar file to .tar.md5, then you'll have an invalid signature. If the download wasn't clean, you'll also have a bad signature.
So, don't rename something.tar into something.tar.md5. If you didn't do that, and re-downloading doesn't fix it, then find another site for the ROM.
As i learned from this forum most of p7500 tablets have sold with locked bootloader. So that we need to find out how to unlock it 1st. I tried to find any solution for unlocking the bootloader some ways all over the net but i couldn't find anything except legal unlock operation by a service. Did anybody find a solution for unlocking p7500 bootloader?

We don't have to unlock our bootloader, unless you have the 10.1v or the Google i/o version, if I'm not mistaken. If you have the plain old P7500/P7510, there is no need to unlock anything.

Nope, just flash a custom recovery and you're good to go. Just to be safe, upgrade to stock ICS first if you haven't.

I repeat, we don't have to unlock anything. Go see every flashing tutorial on this forum, none says we have to unlock the bootloader.
About that error, which version of Odin did you use? Try v1.87: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dib0w993qc284ki/Odin3v1.87.zip

I tried it with odin v1.87 but result is the same. "invalid binary signature" :crying:
Any other suggestion?
By the way my tab has a custom firmware I think. What should I post here to learn what is my firmware actually? Build.prop?

Then I've really got no clue. I thought that maybe the site that you downloaded the ROM had a bad upload or something. But sammobile is pretty reliant. Sorry buddy.

As i said before, I am sure what I am doing for flashing new firmware to that old p7500 tablet. I just wonder how the manufacturer locked the tablet for flashing new firmwares and is there a way to bypass it and flash successfully.
