Hello, I have an otherwhise functional motorola photon, but the hard keys (home, menu, back and search) are not working, they light up but they do not work, at all, so as soon as any app is opened there is no going anywere else...I did a factory reset and a hard factory reset but nothing changed...
its 2.3.5 so I was not able to do an rsd flash to see if the issue is software related, but I am fairly sure it is hardware related. A friend told me it can be one of the little cristals that controls the keys, does someone has a drawing of the board that identifies at least the area that this controller is located? thanks in advance for your help!

Hi guys, I have a Htc Touch Dual.
Now the device has started to doing some strange things:S
- When I slide the phone up, and try to use the touchscreen, nothing happens. It doesn't react at all.
- The TouchFlo "cube" thing pop's up pretty often, without sliding it.
For example, I press "Calender/Contacts/sms/start/ etc" then the cube pop's up out of nowhere.
- Somethimes when I press "start" I get into "Calender". And the same with the right side. When I press the "running prosseses" i get into "Contacts"
I hace re-calibrated the screen several times, soft-reset, hard-reset, flashed it with several different ROM's. But nothing seems to help.
Anyone who knows what this is? Some settings in the registry or something? Or is it the hardware maybe? Please let me know!
Thanks
I would've sent it in to be repaired before flashing different ROMs onto it myself. Sounds like hardware trouble. If I were you I'd flash your original ROM and send it in to be repaired.
sounds like a hardware problem!!!
send it to repair!
I thought so :S
But I don't got my original ROM
Norwegian 16 keys, do someone know where to find it?
And after i have installed it, I just do the "reverse harspl thing"?
Is everything OK after that? Or do the repairers check sometihing else i should fix before delivery?
Hello.
I have WB v6.0 2.3.3 ROM, stock kernel.
My three hardware buttons on the bottom of the device have stopped working. Volume, camera, power buttons still work fine.
- Can't use xRecovery, as SELECT button doesn't work.
- Can't use SEUS or flashtool, as it doesn't register me pressing BACK.
- Can't send for repair, as it's rooted obviously.
Was thinking of using the in-built 'reset factory settings' etc option. No idea if this even works.
Any ideas? Halp plz.
do the still feel proper when pressing them? maybe something moved in there, try disassembling it and assemble it back,
this guy has nice disassembly walkthroughs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypmgeoaDURQ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhUa7R2KOTc
good luck
Yah, buttons feel the same as always. I had a look at video, but I'm not sure if there's a connector or something for the buttons.
If need be, I'll just send it back under warranty. But would be good to get back to stock haha.
Yeah, (if you decide to) when you disassemble it, try to get them out and put them back in, maybe it will work, sometimes disassembeling just magically resolves the issue.
If not send it back under warranty although idk how will that work since it's rooted and all,
I hope someone else has a way to solve it,
good luck
(maybe a thx if it works )

Cheers for replies. I don't really want to take it apart, but it's on the list..
Trying ADB commands now. Newbie to it, so if anyone can point me in the right direction, would be good.
Attempting to use ADB commands with xRecovery 0.3-release. (as SELECT button doesn't work)
Hey there,
Everytime I try to activate the front camera I either get a 'cannot open camera' error or just a black screen (even though I can change the settings), sometimes I just get a FC after few seconds.
I tried using different camera application and all I get is a black screen, some application allow me to take a picture but the result is just a completely black image.
I don't know what triggered the problem, it was pretty sudden. I was on CM7. Even after a complete wipe and flashing olympus rom, nothing has changed.
I tried cleaning the cache, rebooting, everything I can think of.
Looking for older threads in the forums didn't result any useful information.
Help would be very much appreciated.
bump?
Have you flashed a full blur ROM yet to make sure it isn't a hardware issue?
Sent from my Atrix with XDA Premium
Lets say I go back to motion blur rom and nothing changes, will it confirm that it is certainly a hardware issue? Thanks for the respond.
I haven't mentioned it but the LED doesn't work too.
Its possible that a cable was knocked loose. If you verify it is a hardware issue, you can void your warranty and take apart your phone to try and fix it following instructions here: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Motorola-Atrix-4G-Teardown/4964/1
I dropped my phone in some water, and the volume up button was acting like it was always being pressed (really annoying when rebooting as it kept kicking into RSD mode). I managed to disassemble it and clean the button, and now it works great again.
Is the only way to verify is to install motion blur rom? If so, is there any recommendation for a specific rom that might give me the most accurate indication that it's a hardware issue?
Thanks for the quick respond.
I would say that as soon as you have tried a ROM with a different kernel, you have verified a hardware issue.
Changed to motion blur based rom, still dead.
I guess it's a hardware issue.
Btw I dont know why I wrote it's the front camera but I meant the back camera so if it's BACK Camera+LED Light and switching roms/format/hardreset didn't help so it's a hardware problem.
I'll try and contact Motorola since I still have warranty.
Last 10 days I had this problem of softkeys not working(due to probable digitiser problem) and virtaually mt Atrix was unuasable. Thanks to v-stromer http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4634654 I was able to locate the following application
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...gle&utm_medium=organic&utm_term=button+savior which simulates the soft keys and now I am able to work with the ATRIX even without changing the digitiser.
Hope this helps others also who have similar problems
So I have just noticed this morning when I'm texting....
Every time I'm using the keyboard, the soft keys below (the back, home, task, and input method keys) were... gone. Disappear. I don't know why, it was normal yesterday and I didn't do anything. It makes me kind of difficult every time I have finished typing, because I have to tap on the screen, and cannot hide the keyboard using the back softkey, and I cannot change keyboard input (I switch between the Japanese and international keyboard a lot). but, when I use the keyboard on the lock screen to type my password, the soft keys were still there. Intact. ._.
I have tried to restart twice, but nothing changed. What is wrong? How do I get my soft keys back when I use the keyboard? I'm using the stock Lollipop 5.0.2, not rooted, and never did any modifications at all. Please, can anyone help me? thanks a lot. here i put a screenshot to show you what I mean.
I really do need answer to fix this. once again thanks a bunch!

Hi, I'm facing the same problem since this afternoon too! My soft keys go missing whenever I use the keyboard on my Xperia ZL. Did you manage to find a solution to the problem? I've tried restarting my device too but it doesn't help and I really don't want to factory reset my phone D:
I remember this was a common problem when lollipop was released. Not only limited to stock sony roms. But any lollipop rom.. anyway it was so long ago I first flashed a lollipop rom so I cant quite remember exacly
Hi, I've contacted Sony Xperia and they've provided me with a possible solution:
"In regards to your query, we can advise you to try clear data and cache of the app by going Settings > Apps > All apps > Xperia Keyboard > Force stop > Ok > Clear cache > Clear data and restart the phone and test again. If problem persists, we would suggest that you try to perform a repair of the software using PC Companion. If the issue is related to a problem with your software this will be repaired and your handset will work as intended. "
I've tried it and my keyboard is working fine so far. Hope that it'll help you too
