I was running Resurrection Remix on a Samsung Galaxy S2, which was working well, except that it was not compatible with one app. The apps developer recommended flashing Cyanogenmod. I picked CM9, because I didn't find a stable CM10 mod. Anyway, I proceeded to install CM9, and GApps. The GApps version I used was not the right one, and I rebooted without installing the correct GApps. Now, when I boot the phone, I cannot get into recovery mode, and it only displays the Cyanogenmod 9 splash screen endlessly. Kies cannot see the phone, nor can Windows 7. Is there anyone who can point me to directions on how to unbrick this phone?

Hi, yesterday, I updated my S2 from CM7.2 to version 9 (stable ofcourse). I installed everything from internal SD so instalation was thru the recovery.
All was fine, until i tried to open Gmail app ar Google Play app or clock app. Notihng happens. It didnt start, just blink. No error messege or anything. So I made factory reset. Gmail app was not included, so i downloaded it as an apk. Instalation was succesful, but when I tried to run it again, same problem appears.
Do you have any experience with this issue?
I restored my CM back to 7.2.
Thanx for any advice

If you're a bloody noob and getting confused by following simple instructions, go down and read about using the noob-proof ODIN method.
First time installing CyanogenMod 9 to your Galaxy S II, or coming from another ROM:
- READ FAQs: http://teamhacksung.org/wiki/index.php/Experimental:GT-I9100:Frequently_Asked_Questions
- Make sure you're running ICS bootloaders lower than LPH! (if you're unsure, flash the CM9 Resurrection Edition)
- Make sure you're running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery
- Copy GApps and CM9 ZIPs to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9 zip
- Flash GApps zip

Did you flash GApps after CM9?
Tried all of it
Made a factory reset on 7.2 and then installed 9.0 stable and gapps. After startig the phone, I get only to the starting screen where I should touch the android to continue (tried to change language, but it doesnt react. Only able to get to emergency call). after touching it says: application stops working. tried to restart phone and make factory reset egain, but its pointless. I cant get thru this instalation.
I´ll try to dowload CM9.2 nightly build. And i will see what I can do with that
OK, got it. I was installing wrong package of gapps.
Wark like a charm now
Hi forum,
I rooted my S2 a year ago and did happily CM 10.1 updates all the time. Everything just fine.
Then 10.2 came out and I gave that a try. One of the first ones did boot but had several issues (phone app missing, no connection to Play Store, etc). I decided to do updates via CM updater. Now I am stuck with nightly from August 24th. The problem then was that I couldn't access the CWM recovery any more and hence the CM Updater. Thus I tried to flash it again with Odin. So I can boot into Odin mode and Odin recognizes the device. I tried flashing several clockworkmods to no avail. Odin hangs for ever if it comes to the actual writing.
After that the phone did not start any more but stayed in that Firmware update encountered an issue screen. I used heimdall and flashed CWM with that. That looked better and then the phone started (somehow after many attempts) again but still no recovery.
Next I installed the latest Dorimanx Kernel with Odin. So that worked. Now the phone starts reliable again but no matter what I try there is no reccovery.
ROM Manager doesn't even start btw.
What I want now is of course a working recovery. At best CWM. Then back to CM 10.1. But how?
I read a lot here and elsewhere but everything I tried just didn't work.
Thanks for help!
Cheers,
blitz-gordon
you used Odin and Heimdall on same PC?!
ROM manager is bad for s2 and could cause bootloops. Don't use it
i suggest that you flash stock rom with odin. and then you'll have to root ur s2 again

Yep, Ubuntu 12.04 and XP as a VM. I used heimdall on another PC though.
I know that ROM Manager is not choice number one. That was more a test which failed anyway.
Well, I thougth I could get away easier.
Thanx!
For the records.
I de-rooted the device by putting a stock image on it. Then I rooted it again and now it runs the latest CM, woohoo!
If somebody wants details I can provide a short howto.

Hi guys,
I have the folloeing problem. I got a Samsung Galaxy S 2 from a friend, so now I wanted to root the device and install CM 10.1.3.
I tried this now serveral times with different kernels but always got stuck in the end when I flashed CM and rebooted. Then my phone always tried to boot CM but did not go futhere as the circling Cyanogenmod sign. (If you know what I mean)
I tried flashing my phone with: (Odin)
Rom: I9100XWLSD_I9100XXLS8_I9100DBTLS7_HOME
Kernel: PhilZ-cwm6-XWLSD-OXX-4.93.6-signed; PhilZ-cwm6-XWMS2-MOT-5.15.9; Kernel_Dorimanx-V8.43-[12-21]-[24-10]-TAR-FOR-ODIN
After resetting the Flash Counter with Triangle Away, I always installed CM 10.1.3 and gapps through "installing from internal SD". I also alwys wiped my cache
Is there anybody who can help me and explain me what I am doing wrong? I am still pretty new to rooting and flashing custom software
Thanks for your help!
Is there nobody who can tell me wethere I am doing something wrong?

To start off, my Samsung Galaxy S3 had Cyanogen Mod 12 installed on it. Without realizing it, I installed the Cyanogen Mod 13 NIGHTLY. My version of Open Gapps started spamming me with "Google Play Services will not start until Google Play Services are updated", but there was absolutely no way to update it. So, I made the mistake of trying to install the latest Cyanogen Mod 12 NIGHTLY release, and now nothing works.
Here's what's happening right now:
Can't access recovery mode
Can't access bootloader
If I let it boot, it's an endless booting symbol
I CAN access download mode
Can anybody provide me with some insight or instructions on how I can recover this? Thank you!
Flash a stock rom via odin and start over.
